Swordplay [Mariya & Kisuke]

Post by Isuzu » Mon Aug 03, 2020 11:26 pm

The newly formed group was something of an oddity, especially for Kisuke. He'd not really been one to make friends easily. He'd never been invited to parties, or playdates, or really anything involving interacting with others. Ever the outcast was he. However, on that training ground a few days ago, he'd been simply one of the shinobi. Not the proudest moment for a samurai, but upon reflection he'd discovered a certain feeling of inclusion he'd never felt. It was nice. As he opened the door to the famed Chahitsu Tea House, he remembered back to that day and the annoying child who'd been there. But his mind more fondly remembered the woman, his partner in training that annoying brat. They'd agreed to meet around this time to figure out next steps in helping the genin progress.

As Kisuke made his way to a small, private room, he kneeled at the table before him after leaning his katana against the wall. A samurai never traveled without their blade. He'd arrived first and chosen a private area in the back for them to have more intimate discussions. Of training, of course. Kisuke ordered himself some hot Ginger Tea and various small orderves for the table. Any minute now, he told himself, as he examined the intricate artwork of the walls and ceiling, getting a bit bored already.

"...Bushido are supposed to be men of action. This isn't quite that..."

Swordplay [Mariya & Kisuke]

Mariya was unsure of so many things in her life.

Emotions were nearly alien to her and though she was capable of "faking them" to others to remain some sense of normalcy social interaction quite often left her tired. She wondered if that would ever change. She wanted it to, though want and reality were a fickle beast. For one she never wanted to exist. She never wanted to be an aberration formed from the blood of the most evil man in the village's history. Nor had she wanted to be the genetic 'clone' in a sense of the most famed man, the Raikage. Even with her lack of emotional understanding she knew that there was tremendous weight on her shoulders. Still, today she was getting to be normal.

She was getting to be a normal 16 year old girl for the first time. Not the killer assassin with a demon's essence embedded in her soul created by the black ops to be the first of a new generation of super weapons. Just normal. Just Mariya. Making her way into the Chahitsu Tea House frequented by many of the village she would look around.

How many? the matron asked kindly. She bowed her head.

"2- but my friend is already here I think- over in that corner" she said as she pointed and the matron bowed, escorting her to the table. Mariya bowed once more than sat before the boy. There was that odd fluttery feeling her chest again.

"Uh, well uh, yeah this is the famous tea house isn't it... I guess maybe other people use it for planning often too." she said nervously, unsure what to even say with her otherwise abrupt entrance.

Swordplay [Mariya & Kisuke]

The girls sudden appearance startled Kisuke, causing him to physical draw back a bit in fright. A quick recovery hopefully saved him from embarrassment, but if the girl was particularly observant she'd certainly have noticed. "I'm not sure. I've never been here before." Kisuke's tone mirrored his guests nervousness. Kisuke bit his lip and sort of cleared his throat a bit. He'd never had to communicate with someone like this before. "I am happy to see you. I've thought of nothing but this meeting since we left the training ground." He made eye contact with her the entire time he said this. Kisuke naturally was talking about planning that annoying boys training.

Just as the conversation was starting to lull, the young lady whom he'd ordered from arrived with a cart containing his order. She sat out the large tray of various vegetables, roots, rice and a few meats in the center, providing each with chopsticks and various sauces and bowls. She then took each persons tea cup, but gave a strange look to Kisuke and Mariya as she poured their tea before leaving the kettle at their table for them to use at their leisure. "For the lovely couple. Enjoy!" Kisuke began to speak but the woman raced off before he had a chance to correct her. Locking eyes with Mariya for a moment, Kisuke qucikly looked away before he grabbed his cup of tea, not by the handle but by the mug itself, slightly burning his fingertips from the heat. Taking a hefty swig, he'd look towards the young woman sitting across from him.

"So... how've you been since our last meeting?" There was plenty of time for planning. For now, while they ate, they'd get to know each other bit. Kisuke would grab a dumbling and a few ginger roots and put them on his plate next to his rice bowl. As he awaited the answer from the young woman, he'd take a bite of the dumpling after dipping it in soy sauce.

Taking a big swallow, the man invited his friend to dig in. "Please, help yourself."

Swordplay [Mariya & Kisuke]

Mariya was almost taken a back by the boy shrinking from her sudden presence. Had she said or done something wrong? Her mind begin to race rapidly through all the potential reasons why he could have responded that. Perhaps the odor her body exuded was too much? Or perhaps, in her rather quick entrance she had shocked him? Perhaps there was something in her teeth or perhaps she had looked quite hideous to him... Either way, for a simple meeting to discuss about their interests in sword play this was turning out to be far more difficult.

Bashfully she lowered her head. Then came his line snapping her back to reality.

"I am happy to see you. I've thought of nothing but this meeting since we left the training ground."

Just what in the seven kingdoms did that mean? Once more her mind began racing through the possible meanings- and once more she was pulled back into reality and out of the Mariya realm by the voice of an inhabitant of the real world. This time, not Kisuke's, but the waitress who was delivering food. The waitress referred to them as a couple- which confused Mariya... that word was somewhat foreign to her. Oblivious to Kisuke's attempts to ignore it and move on with another topic, she interjected.

"What does she mean we are a lovely couple?"

She'd reach for her drink, freshly arrived, take a sip, then lock her eyes on Kisuke. Mariya was a smart girl- but she was also grown in a test tube and not taught much else besides the necessary knowledge to be a Black Ops operative. Physically she was a teenager, mentally... well... strategically speaking an adult but in matters of "personal relations" she was likely less than a kindergartner. Weapons for the village did not require "emotional bonds" after all.

Mariya slurped her drink as she kept an incredulous gaze on Kisuke.

Kisuke would choke a bit mid sip when that question was asked, causing him to make a bit of a fool of himself. As he wiped some droplets from his chin with his sleeve the chuunin made eye contact with his guest.

Great. For once Kisuke'd managed to not make a situation with a girl awkward. Just his luck that the waitress would take it upon herself to do it for both of them. Kisuke would ruffle his hair in the back of his head while looking towards his tea. He was noticing a rather distinct after taste, though he'd never tasted a flavor like that before. After smacking his lips a few times, he attempted to explain what was a rather straight forward comment.

"You know.." Kisuke stammered a bit when speaking. He wasn't the type who was good at talking about normal things, much less discussing what a 'couple' was. "She was saying that we seem good together...' Trying to play it a bit cooler than he was internally, he began pouring himself another cup of tea, a slight shaking in his hands as he did so. "I think she believes us on a date."

He'd be sure to correct her if another comment was made.

Swordplay [Mariya & Kisuke]

Kisuke's eyes were locked onto Mariya's own- it was an uncomfortable feeling not often experienced by young women, let alone one who had practically been birthed of a test tube. Mariya cleared her throat and averted her gaze from the eyes of Kisuke down to the table, her thumbs twiddling. She did not really understand everything going on or her feelings... the uncomfortableness was far different from her time as an operative. It felt completely foreign.

As Kisuke struggled for an answer she continued to avoid eye contact as she reached for her tea, taking a sip and then clearing her throat. The awkward silence was finally broken by Kisuke just mentioning that she meant they seem good together. Though it was a euphemism, that was lost on the naive girl. Mariya nodded, finally breaking the spell of avoidance and looking right into Kisuke's eyes.

"Oh- yeah I think we will make a really good team Ki-kun! she said with a grin as both her hands rolled into fists in a triumphant- Yosh! innocently interrupting the boy before he could get out his remarks on it being a date- rather talking over it.

The future of Kumogakure would depend on the young. Her dad always told her that. She and her comrades would need to get strong for the days to come.
