"Its been a long time since I've been able to get out like this. I hope I haven't lost my touch," Gene spoke to no one in particular as he went through a series of stretching motions in front of a large body of water which he believed would serve him well today. Limbered up and aware of what he must do, Gene took a first step over the waters surface allowing his Chakra to mold at the bottoms of his feet and then came the miracle. Without losing stride or any of the confidence in himself and the actions he were taking, Gene began to literally walk across the waters rippling waving surface as though it were the very solid dirt ground he'd just left behind. Playing with the perceptions of what would be known as the public served a very distinct purpose in the life of a Shinobi and Gene, who'd been brought up under a strict Lineage understood this well. In allowing himself to be seen walking over water, those who were not intimately familiar in the dealings of what a ninja could do would be likely to assume presence of a Ghost or some other kind of phenomena.

On the other hand... Those who were true to the Shinobi underworld, would understand the matter as a provocative statement if ever one were to be made. Those who can do not even this simple deed deserve not to call themselves Shinobi nor do they grace the secrets of Shinobi with their prying eyes for those who cannot see through deception, cannot see through the traps of their many adversaries and thus are not welcome in MY society. My lineage. Even with the recent drop in temperature Gene found great relief in the cool air provided by the Lake. Already he could feel the ping of new ideas manifesting in his mind and spirit.

Ten meters out over the surface of the lake, Gene relied only upon his body's ability to create chakra and his will to manipulate it. Standing over the waters surface was in and of itself, a simple enough task to accomplish but he was more concerned with how he were going to begin the next phase of his training. A man who would do nothing without a logical reason, stood over the Piscean ail with the intent of developing stronger, more versatile Katon natured techniques. Aware of the fact that he'd been standing on an element the complete opposite of his own Gene relished in the challenge of control over his Chakra. Far and few between now were the days he'd gotten to engage in combat with a foe demanding of his most honest effort but in the days of fighting Legendary Dragons, Snakes and Spirits Gene had not been a slouch. "This should be far enough," he rasped. Bringing both hands up towards his chest in a motion that would ultimately end with his hands together in the Tiger hand seal. May as well get Comfortable," Gene spoke before sitting down after turning diagonally right in order to face both the direction of the deepest part of the lake, and the shore from where he came.

Feeling the growing sensation of heat within him, the Day Dreamer could feel a Dragons roar rising to the surface. Soon; he thought, this entire lake would be consumed by hellfire.

Having recently been promoted to Chunin, not more than a few weeks prior, Yozei was filled with renewed confidence and conviction to improve himself. He could now clearly feel the potential within him. Having never had to train particularly hard to be among the best in his class, even with the disadvantage of growing up outside the walls of Konoha Yozei was enthralled by the idea of discovering what he was truly capable of. The air was cool on this afternoon, especially as the auburn-haired teenager approached one of the handful of lakes that resided within Konoha’s walls. This one was fairly sizable and would prove to be a safe place to practice his Katon ninjutsu while also honing his chakra control and pushing himself to his limits. It was sure to be a successful day is training. Wearing a deep red shirt and grey pants along with his usual equipment including forehead protector and katana the young shinobi approached the water's edge. As he stepped on to the water, walking on its surface without any focused thought, he noticed another individual towards the center of the water. “Looks like someone else had the same idea” he muttered to himself. No matter, there was plenty of room for both of them. Walking only about 50 meters on to the water, Yozei would turn so that he could still see the other man on a roughly 30-degree angle to his left. He didn’t want to be completely unaware of whatever techniques the other shinobi might be practicing though he also didn’t want to seem confrontational by facing directly at him.

Stretching a little to loosen himself up, Yozei began to breathe deeply. Breath control was important in controlling Katon ninjutsu as was being relaxed enough to be able to properly utilize the sudden build-up of power that was often required. Performing a set of handseals he would inhale deeply, building up chakra in his chest feeling warmth radiate throughout his body as he began preparing Katon natured chakra before exhaling a powerful breath. He could feel his chakra system come to life, flowing as the chakra surged through his body. The slightly tricky part of utilziing Katon natured chakra was in the timing of converting the raw chakra into Katon as well as making sure that whatever jutsu the caster used started off small near the user. This way they wouldn't suffer the burns of thier own attack, always having to be sure that the flames go wider and larger as a point in the distance in order to consume the opponent. These thoughts crossed his mind very briefly as he molded the chakra. His hands would remain in the form of the ram hand seal as he honed the way the chakra flowed, keeping it even in the form of a thin stream of flames which shot out ahead of him. He would keep the flames condensed and focused, stretched like a rope as it traveled toward its destination. When it reached an acceptable range of about 15 meters from Yozei then he would be ready to unveil the true face of this technique. He was a safe distance away now. Perhaps some might be convinced that this thin stream of flames was all they had to worry about though any shinobi familiar with Katon was sure to expect an explosion of expansion of some kind. That was of course the goal when it came to this technique as suddenly he released the condensed and pent up chakra, willing and shaping it into a large fireball that vehemently expelled outward to cover a diameter of 10 meters.

The water rippled as the flames actually pushed back some small waves, evaporating the water that made contact with the body half of the sphere in a continuous cycle as more water filled the devoid areas. Still, Yozei held the final seal and continued to pour chakra into the technique maintaining the ball of flames and fighting against the natural opposite element all while still maintaining chakra to his feet and keeping atop the surface of the lake. What was more impressive was that this was an experimental jutsu, something he had toyed around with a bit when coming up with other techniques but not a jutsu he had utilized to this full size and with the maintained focus. He wagered he could keep up the fireball for at least another 20 seconds. The light and heat washed over his face as he continued to exhale in one slow and drawn out-breath. His chakra control was one of his greater talents and this was evident by the perfect sphere of the fireball, completely balanced and refined with not a single wasted flame. Of course, he still had his limits and with the water fighting against him, he would eventually relent. It took several seconds for the flames to be extinguished, the surface of the lake steaming heavily all the while.

Inhaling again slowly in a deep breath, Yozei reveled in the intake of oxygen again. Having a good lung capacity was imperative for an effective Katon ninjutsu user and it was equally important to know how to pace oneself and not waste more chakra than necessary with relentless attacks. This was a balance he was always striving to hone. Fortunately and through diligent practice Yozei had honed a high level of chakra for a Chunin, progressing his skill in fine chakra manipulation at a prodigious rate that seemed to allow him to perform most Katon style jutsu on his first attempt and with very minimal corrections. Even his chakra pool was above average for a Chunin and it was continuing to grow as he adapted to learning and utilizing larger scale jutsu. It was very apparent to any that knew him that Yozei was well specialized in Katon ninjutsu and would surely become one of the most devastating and proficient users of the style that the village had seen in at least several generations.“That wasn’t so bad,” he said, speaking only to himself. It served as an adequate warm-up as his body and chakra system felt fully engaged and activated now.

If Gene had noticed the boy creeping about the shoreline and scurrying his way to another unclaimed section of the large lake, he made no obvious note of it. A passing glance much too distant to be recognized, perhaps. But nothing further. For Gene, his only concern was nursing the growing hunger for combustion rising within and to that effect would continue in his quest to harness his own Chakra. Yes...Yes, he moaned as the familiar feeling of raw, unimpeded power surged through him filling his entire body from toe to head with a blissful heat. Just then, his ever watchful eyes caught the glow of a jutsu; one of whom's parameters Gene knew intimately well though for some reason, it appeared...more ferocious than those of its type that he'd seen in the past.

"So, you have some skill." Gene remarked, his attention piqued only mildly as the traveling ball of flames ran its course searing the chilled waters below it and giving way to a wide trail of steam. Admittedly, Gene was proud to see the great fireball technique used in such a pristine form and could not complain about the scope of which it'd covered in its travel. Whoever the boy was, he certainly had that particular jutsu down packed. Meanwhile, the Day dreamer was about to liven up his reality a bit...more to his liking.

Focused only on the point where he'd saw the young man's fireball extend and eventually expire, Gene brought his right hand up until it'd been level with his stomach, pointing in the direction where only moments before existed a large mass of spherical flames. Assuming the young lad had still been observing the path of his own technique, the brief and rather sporadic sound of high pitched whistling would have directed him to towards it anyway. At least, only for a moment that is. Without the droll and rehearsed movements that so often became trademark for casting of Katon techniques, Gene allowed only his mind and divine connection to his chakra with the world around him to do his bidding.

The waters rocked back and forth violently goaded on by the deafening boom of an explosion large enough to be seen yet controlled enough not to be confused with the happenings of nature herself. No, this kind of phenomena was of Man's doing. Orange flames licked the cool waters before the chakra within fizzled out into a salty, heated steam across the surface. Waves rose to no intolerable height and soon crashed down again back to the surface from whence they'd came. Still, Gene sat in earnest; appearing almost in the countenance of a practiced Monk, unphased yet distinctly aware of the change he'd incited. Evidently, the notion of quiet training had been lost - replaced by a new sort of tranquility, controlled chaos.

B-rank Katon Ninjutsu

Prerequisite: 24 Ninjutsu, Erupting burning finger

Description: Building Chakra at the tips of both index and middle fingers, Gene will focus on a target or area up to twenty-four meters from him. This area, influenced by his Volatile Katon chakra then becomes unstable to the point of triggering an explosion of heat and flames at 24 speed and strength across a range of 8x8x8 meters applying the ignition passive and second degree burns to those affected. Prior to explosion, a high pitched whistling like noise can be heard indicative of the attack so that a keen observer may defend themselves. Furthermore, this technique while incredibly volatile, may be used in conjunction with either Genjutsu or other forms of Katon ninjutsu to increase its potency.

Yozei had thought he had heard the other person speak but he couldn’t be sure what they had said. The older teenager was a fair distance away but mostly it was due to the fact that the auburn-haired Chunin was so focused on maintaining fine control over his technique. As the roar of the fire died down he shifted his positioning slightly to look more directly at Gene. He didn’t want to appear to be completely ignoring him after all and perhaps there was some importance to what he had said. He couldn't be sure without giving him a closer look but judging by the uncommon hair color Yozei thought this might be the same person he had met the week prior. Gene if he recalled correctly. He had been quite impressive in the previous training session that focused more on physical skills. It would be interesting to see what kind of advice or direction he could give when it came to ninjutsu. Yozei wondered what it was that he had said, suddenyl wishing he was a little more perceptive and aware of his surroundings. Likely it was some kind of comment on the jutsu he had performed and as the other shinobi raised his hand it became apparent that he wished to demonstrate a technique of his own. There was a slight blue aura of chakra around his hand as he channeled a technique and then a series of high-pitched whistling that grew closer at steady increments. Bracing himself in case he needed to leap backward or steady himself upon the surface being disrupted, Yozei observed as a fireball roughly the same size as his detonated in the same area. It was apparent however this one was significantly stronger. The Chunin lifted his arms reflexively as some heated water sprayed toward his eyes, though it was guarded against easily enough.

The surface of the lake had in fact become unstable from the explosion, causing him to increase the flow of chakra to his feet and maintain balance. Nothing too difficult considering his chakra control and adequate deftness. His mind raced as he processed what kind of technique had been displayed before him. There was no visible flame linking the caster to the end point, he had kept his chakra invisible, moving it along to the destination and then converting it to Katon and triggering its explosive properties from a distance. Really the concept wasn’t that much more complicated than his fireball jutsu, it required similar chakra control though it was less about shaping the chakra and more about suppressing it before releasing it all at once. “Interesting technique. I could make use of that concept” he considered. There was one thing that didn’t quite suit him though, there had been a whistling that persisted along the path of travel, making it fairly easy to predict and though there was certainly some tactical merit in producing potential genjutsu triggers and acting as a distraction or perhaps even a psychological stressor of hearing an attack but not being able to see it Yozei was determined to put his own touch on the jutsu.

As the waters calmed themselves once more, Yozei closed his eyes for a moment, focussing and playing out the details of the jutsu in his mind was more as he centered his breathing. Opening his cerulean blue eyes once more he began chaneling chakra into his hand, rather than pointing however, he built the chakra up in his thumb and middle finger. Of course he couldn’t soley focus chakra into his fingers. Rather than indicating which direction he flowed the chakra he would build up chakra at a distance, compressing it before converting it to Katon in a similar manner that Gene had demonstrated. This way the chakra wouldn’t be on a visible spectrum, only in his fingers would the blue glow be visible. Then focusing on a point about 20 meters away from him, at a point on the opposite side of the two of them, Yozei would see the focal point only out of the corner of his eye, experimenting with the unpredictability and versatility of this variation of the technique. Of course, when focusing so much chakra into such a refined state as to not even be visible to the eye it was impossible not to have any indication of a forthcoming attack and so as Yozei snapped his fingers to trigger the attack; the first sign of danger to come, there would be a secondary ‘pop’ or ‘crack’ at the focal point he was targeting as his chakra suddenly expanded at the focal point while simultaneously and suddenly converting into Katon, resulting in a large and violent explosion. Yozei’s explosion would cover the same amount of area as Gene’s though the range was a little shorter and the flames not quite as potent, though for a first attempt it was a truly remarkable display of Yozei’s prodigious talent when it came to Katon Ninjutsu and chakra control.

The Chunin was no stranger to performing techniques without handseals, the majority of his repertoire practiced and utilized in such a way. There were even some relatively complex jutsu he could channel that even his father, the Hokage would be required to utilize hand seals in order to manifest, albeit he still couldn’t cast jutsu nearly as fast as his dad nor were his best techniques even remotely as powerful as what Takeo was able to do. Still, Yozei would continue to improve and at least in regards to Katon ninjutsu he was determined to become the most proficient shinobi in Konoha, a goal that seemed entirely possible if he were to work hard and receive proper guidance and shaping. Looking back over to Gene, Yozei was curious what other tips and tricks he could pick up from the man who surely had a great deal of skill and experience to draw on. “Something like that then?” he questioned.

A smile played across the lips of the Special Jounin as he observed with childlike interest, his technique be replicated so seamlessly. Twice now had the boy both surprised and intrigued him with his actions and for a brief moment, Gene considered approaching - reconsidering only after thoughts of his younger self swirled like a torrent in his mind. In particular, he recalled his reaction to Takeo sneaking up on him in the midst of an intense and rather unconventional training session wherein the then youthful Gene had all but lost his focus. Seems like he's on a roll all his own. Best to let him be for now and see what becomes of it, Gene thought.

From a pragmatic standpoint Gene believed that if the child had been like he was in his youth then the prospect of developing new techniques on his own even those without much direct practical use would certainly serve a much larger picture down the line. In the field and off the field being able to improvise was always a good skill to have though to hamper that by prematurely employing something akin to micromanaging would have long term drawbacks - drawbacks that would then themselves become great weaknesses in other facets of the youth's shinobi career. Gene would not be responsible for such deviations in natural progression nor would he even entertain the thought being one to believe firmly in the ideology of self growth and development; no, he would bide his time and intervene only when absolutely necessary or when the youth made it a point to seek him out directly of his own accord.

Of course...there was no guarantee that his kind of tutelage would do wonders for the boy's spirit...

For now, Gene simply focused on the bare basics of keeping his own chakra in check - still festering the roar yet to come as his body adjusted to the ebb and flow of turbulent waters beneath him.

Yozei was honestly rather surprised when the grey-haired shinobi didn’t really react. He thought he noticed a slight smile, but he couldn’t be quite sure as his focus wasn’t on the man so much as it was concentrated on the technique he had been performing. Even after the explosion, Yozei had kept his attention on the flames for a few lingering moments to ensure that they didn’t get caught up in a breeze and spread beyond the lake. When it came to Katon one could never be too careful. ‘Too much?’ he wondered, thinking that perhaps he had come across arrogant and offended the man or perhaps he knew who he was and simply expected that level of skill from someone who was both the Hokage’s son and a descendant of Fire Country’s Daimyo. It was always a difficult position to be in, the more he excelled in his skill the more isolated he became. And while others could outshine him in regard to Taijutsu and certainly Genjutsu there were none that seemed to have the same innate skill with Katon ninjutsu, not even close. He was proud of this talent and practiced diligently, forgoing other areas more than he should though even with his weaknesses he found he dominated most peers in combat.

He remained humble however in knowing that there were many that were leagues above himself. Training with Jounin and Bannin he knew what to strive for and regardless of age he knew what was expected of him. Konoha was known for its shinobi achieving incredible strength at a young age. Kawa, Shikari, Yoru and Aina had all become Bannin while still teenagers. And now there was Fanho too who he had heard was being promoted to Bannin at only 18 years old. The village would expect nothing less from him he was sure. Despite the fact that his father was an exception, not even achieving Jounin until 25, that fact was often forgotten. Takeo’s his current title and accomplishments were the standard Yozei was held to. Two years to go from Chunin to Bannin, that was the kind of pressure he was facing. With that in mind perhaps performing a B-rank technique on his first try really wasn’t anything special. ‘Not good enough’ he realized. It was never enough.

The auburn-haired teenager had a sullen look for a moment, closing his eyes as he furrowed his brow. Breathing deep he let all the pressure and stress slip away, relaxing his body and flowing his chakra throughout his entire system. The water rippled from the sheer chakra control, his chakra building up to a visible level as it smoothed around his body, sleek, pristine and refined. His arms rested at his sides; palms open. And then his eyes opened as he inhaled a final time. The aura of raw chakra was pulled within him as he inhaled, concentrating in his chest, swelling and building ever stronger. The expression on his face and in his cerulean eyes was now one of sheer determination and focus. He would rise ever higher, reaching his fullest potential. Nothing else mattered. Exhaling, his breath would ignite in a ferocious stream of fire, the kind of technique that could decimate scores of men at once. The flames continued to grow wider the further they went, moving at speeds associated with S-Rank jutsu. The type of thing nobody in their right mind would ever expect from a fresh Chunin. The power of the flames, while not enough to instantly burn to the bone were still quite deadly, able to crack stone and reduce trees to ashes with prolonged exposure. It was an incredibly chakra intensive jutsu but Yozei had utilized a near-perfect amount of chakra to achieve optimal results.

He had performed this technique before using hand seals and had been recently practicing how to perfect the jutsu, surpassing his father in a way by utilizing one of the Hokage’s signature Katon techniques without the use of hand seals and even performing it with the same level of speed and power as his father as well as taking about the same amount of time to prepare the jutsu. Of course, Takeo had a version of the jutsu that was even more powerful, something he had only utilized once against Hiraku Kenji though Yozei wasn’t aware of that. This jutsu was the most powerful Katon technique he had personally witnessed his dad perform. A jutsu Takeo had shown him to inspire him and give him something to strive for and in less than a year Yozei had mastered it. Turning his head he would move the swath of flames with it, covering a large area, making sure to aim roughly towards the center of the lake but also not have the stream of flames get within about 5 meters of Gene. Even at that distance though, the heat of the flames would be enough to be uncomfortable and maybe cause some light burns and singed hairs if one were not to move. At least until Yozei moved the angle of the flames to consume a larger portion of the lake. The water heated up so fast it sounded like small explosions as it cracked and popped before turning to hissing steam.

This was a level of skill he had never shown anyone before. He didn’t feel any particular need to impress Gene and it was simply a coincidence that he was here now for this display. While maintaining the flames Yozei could feel a significant drop to his chakra levels. Between the other techniques he had used and now this one he had used at least a quarter of his chakra reserves, maybe more and the longer he held the stream and continued to move it side to side the further his chakra levels continued to drop. Still, he was determined to push himself, to see how long he could maintain such a jutsu. After about fifteen seconds he felt slightly lightheaded for a moment and shifted his feet to a more stable stance. Still keeping his arms back and his chest forwards for maximum lung expansion. He didn’t need to continually exhale after the jutsu had reached its full range but he still couldn’t inhale so long as he was performing the technique so he was feeling a bit of oxygen deprivation which factored into the light-headedness along with the fatigue induced by the technique itself. Finally, he would relent. Inhaling sharply after cutting off the flow of chakra and watching the flames cling to the surface of the water, stubbornly resisting being extinguished though slowly being diminished. Softly Yozei smiled, a content sort of expression and for a moment he completely forgot he was still being watched so mesmerized was he by the flames dancing on the water and the self-satisfaction of reaching a new milestone.

A devastating technique capable of decimating landscapes and suppressing powerful foes, the all-consuming dragon fire is initiated by channeling a large amount of chakra, culminating in Yozei’s chest. Exhaling, the jutsu will fire off as a cone-shaped stream of blazing fire. The stream extends 40 meters in length, starting off as only a meter thick and widening gradually to a diameter of 30 meters at the end. The heat from this attack is so intense that it can crack stone and reduce full trees to ashes. Yozei can maintain this technique for up to two posts and can turn his head to change the angle of the attack accordingly. The flames move at a speed of 35 and impact with a force of 25.

Gene's eyes grew wide realizing for the second time today that he had underestimated the young boy, a mistake that he would never make again after seeing him perform what was undoubtedly a jutsu much stronger than his own Dragon missile technique. Impressive, he thought. But it looks like that jutsu is a burden on the body...though, with a bit more control maybe. An idea bloomed but first, Gene needed to get clear of the jutsu's range as the young boy began turning his head and with it, sending the flames spiraling in his direction. Of course, he hadn't known that the youth's capability to control his chakra and by extension the technique, had been far beyond that of any Chunin and was not so naive as to trust where he could dictate with certainty the validity of his own safety.

Cutting the flow of chakra to the soles of his feet Gene sank like a heavy rock down deep into the cold lake water and swam deeper still to avoid the boiling temperatures sure to come from the surface being bombarded with a monstrous flame. From looks alone...he doesn't appear to have been born into one of the great Shinobi clans of the village though with chakra control like that I'd be willing to bet my bottom Zeni that his parents are Shinobi. Gene thought, his curiosity now more than just a bit piqued as he swam the distance, finally emerging just to the right side of the young boy.

"Well, I must say...that was quite the jutsu just now." Gene acknowledged, seeming not to consider the awkwardness of having just emerged like a sea monster where previously there'd been no one. "Think you could do it again?"

Yozei noted the way Gene sank into the lake. It was a smart decision, Katon was an element not easily controlled and one would be foolish to trust anyone to be able to utilize such a powerful jutsu without any chance of putting others at risk. The two of them didn’t even know each others’ names or ranks, though they appeared to be relatively close in age and stature with Gene appearing slightly more muscular though still very lean and also likely more experienced given his very cautious demeanor. The auburn haired Chunin was actually a couple inches taller than his grey-haired counterpart, the hair color also making Gene look like he might have actually been in his early 20’s at least. The son of the Hokage wouldn’t have been surprised if the other individual was a higher rank than him though certainly it was exceptionally uncommon for a fresh Chunin to be able to utilize such advanced jutsu. If it wasn’t for his lack of experience he would surely be eligible to rank up to Special Jounin in no more than a few weeks. Of course, he wouldn’t receive any special treatment from his father and would have to prove that he had more than just talent in Katon ninjutsu going for him. Success in missions after all was the primary marker of a shinobi’s worth and all the skill in the world was meaningless if they couldn’t get the job done.

As Gene emerged Yozei was still panting heavily, even leaning forward on to his knees. He wanted to sit down but knew that if he did he would be tempted to simply lay in the water and take a nap. His chakra control was so refined that he could actually maintain the water walking jutsu across his entire body and while sleeping for a significant amount of time. It was one of his more successful training methods and something that came at much less of a drawback then the months he had spent trying to keep a small fireball conjured all throughout the day where more than once he had set fire to his clothing or his books and blankets after he had become too focused on his reading or had drifted off into a brief nap. At least when doing water walking training he would simply wake up suddenly and find himself soaked which was easily remedied by drying off with some Katon ninjutsu. “Thanks, have been working on that one for a while…nice to see it finally pay off” he answered between breaths, looking over at the Special Jounin briefly as he focused on getting his breathing under control. “Hah, kinda want to just nap on the lake here. You’ve got some pretty high standard’s don’t you?” he grinned, feeling the need to rise to the challenge. For some reason he felt the need to prove himself to this guy. He just had a feeling he was someone powerful and important from the way he carried himself and seemed to be observing and almost testing him.

There was also a strong possibility that he knew who Yozei was and that was why he thought he could be pushed even further than that. Closing his eyes for a moment and getting to an upright position Yozei got his breathing under control once more, assessing his own chakra reserves now that he had a minute or two to recover. “Yeah, I think I’ve got one more in me” he assessed. After that he would still be able to perform some lower-ranked jutsu and maybe squeeze out some somewhat advanced techniques if his life was on the line but he would need to rest and eat to recover chakra if he were to perform the same technique for a third time. As he gathered chakra however he found that he could use a little bit less than he had the first time and achieve the same result. With his reserves at less than half capacity he had even more reason to conserve to the utmost of his ability. The chakra that glowed from his body as he channelled chakra would even visibly reflect this, the aura being extremely close to his body, refined to a level that even many S-Ranked shinobi would be jealous of. The amount of chakra he would use this time was almost the absolute minimum possible. Exhaling he performed the jutsu again, setting the lake ablaze though when it sputtered out he could feel that the drop in chakra wasn’t nearly as significant as before.

Additionally, his body was growing used to manifesting large amounts of chakra at a time and like a balloon that was often stretched to its limit his reserves began to expand. The more he practiced high level techniques the larger his chakra pool would become. With his prodigious control and expanding chakra reserves eventually he would be able to use jutsu like this one as easily as most Chunin performed C-rank jutsu. As the flames once again danced on the water, steaming and sizzling, Yozei would take minute to focus on breathing, not feeling the need to double over this time. “That’s enough for now” he decided, sitting down casually and leaning back with his hands behind him, effortlessly balancing his chakra across every point of contact on the waters surface. “My name is Natsuki Yozei” he introduced. “I can’t shake the feeling that you seem like someone I should know” he added, hoping to get his name as well.

Upon closer inspection Gene realized almost immediately the similarities between Yozei and someone else that he'd come to know over the years. However, as though his mind were playing tricks on him the Silver-haired Jounin almost vehemently rejected the idea that someone as hardcore as Takeo could have a child though he had to admit - there were few Shinobi even among his graduating class with such exceptional chakra control and for that matter, only one person in particular that he knew of with a knack for suppressive ninjutsu. If Takeo had hid the fact that he'd had a child deliberately...

All jokes aside, Gene was both delighted and intrigued when Yozei had agreed to perform his technique just one more time for Gene to observe. Although, it was never wise to allow one to bare witness to another's secret arts, apparently Gene had found himself on the luckier end of the scale and for this he was grateful. With a much closer view of the action this time around Gene observed with both caution and wonder as Yozei gathered his chakra, taking a few mental guesses as to how much energy was actually needed to perform the jutsu as well as considering how much time it'd taken to gather all of the chakra required. Not a considerable wait but definitely something to think about for future reference. What had caught Gene's attention was the fact that this stranger's chakra had been both clearly visible and heavy on the air around them. I can actually feel his chakra flooding the air around me...incredible!

Just as the thought passed through Gene's mind Yozei let loose a mighty roar that could have shook the heavens; releasing a maelstrom of unforgiving flames o which danced excitedly in the gentle breeze over cool waters, the duality of calm seas and an angry flame serving to Gene as a pure work of art - though likely unintentionally. The heat of the flames had indeed been so intense that Gene had been forced to shield part of his face as he peered beyond a half-guard out at the raging jutsu in front of him. All that Gene could hear was the low droll of the flames crackling and howling against the backdrop of rippling, cascading waves.

A Fire style jutsu of this scale...used in the right space...could be absolutely devastating to a battlefield. If this is truly the future of Konohagakure then perhaps I was wrong to worry. Our Shinobi are in fine fighting shape and this one... his eyes shifted to where Yozei had now been standing after cutting his own technique short. ...May yet be a candidate for the ANBU given enough time to mature. Anyone capable of utilizing a technique with both strong offensive and defensive capabilities so easily could be worked into the org framework on a shock and awe task force. There would come a day where jutsu of this caliber would change the face of the war effort initiative and Kami willing, Gene would be nurture that change to the absolute best of his abilities as was his responsibility to his nation, his people and his country. However, as soon as the boy formally introduced himself all thoughts of including him in the Anbu died. Immediately. At least...for the time being.

"Natsuki you say? Where have I heard that name before?" Gene asked, feigning ignorance knowing full well now the reason why the boy had been able to perform such high level techniques with relatively no problem. Takeo himself was a man of great stamina to a point of being considered freakish by many, manly Gene for his own personal reasons. But it would have made sense for his son to be gifted with the same pool. "A any rate...thank you for that demonstration. I'm sure you've worked very hard to attain this level of power and your performance just now reflects nothing but hard work. However.... Gene paused, "I wager that sustaining it would pose some problems after a while. Though I suppose...the only way to really find out is to try it myself." Gene stated almost absently.

"You can just call me Mr. Blue." Sure, it wasn't his real name but Gene thought that with the blue Haori he wore that the name fit well enough. Besides, he wasn't so trusting as to give out his name to someone even if they were the Hokage's son for he knew not who would target the lad for his status and by extension, himself as an org leader. With his introduction out of the way Gene shifted his focus wholeheartedly to replicating the Fire style jutsu he'd observed moments before amassing his chakra almost just as quickly as the Yozei himself had done. Next, Gene inhaled only once through his nostrils and in a ferocious roar exhaled not air but a maelstrom of chakra heated flames in much similar a fashion to Yozei on his first attempt. Unlike Yozei however, Gene did not attempt to hold the jutsu for any length of time and simply cut the technique short after it'd been able to reach its full distance and width - the waters beneath them now well heated and bubbling from the back to back release of intense heat and flames. Once the fires had died down or rather, when Gene himself had managed to cut his connection to the jutsu, he'd turn to Yozei. "Did I pull that off right?"

Gene wondered how his new acquaintance would react to the display he'd just put on being that the technique performed WAS HIS technique. There was an ebbing voice in the back of his mind that screamed something along the lines of petty but Gene ignored it and simply smiled while he waited.
