Ah, the river... thought Kyu, laying on his back. So peaceful... Kyu sat back up again quickly, and wrapped his arms around his knees. He flipped his hair back, but it went back into place like it always did.

The river is full of clear water, and you can see carp floating along in it below. A small wooden bridge a little to the left of Kyu gave a peaceful setting to the area. A small grove of trees was to the right, birds chirping happily in the branches. Kyu smiled at the sound and stood up. He walked over to the trees and stuck out his arm, allowing a bird to land on it. He stroked it slowly, feeling at peace with the world.

Kyu sat down slowly again. The bird chirped again, and flew away. Kyu stared blankly after it. Birds are pretty awesome... I wish I could fly. Kyu thought. He laid back down on his back and stared at the sky. A flock of birds were flying by. Wish I was up there... he thought again. There wouldn't be any trouble if I were a bird.

Hakuro was on his way home from another tough day on duty, he didn't like taking the long route back, so he decided to take a shortcut that would take him to his district much faster. He rarely took this route, but at times when he was fatigued, he didn't bother walking the distance, all he had to do was cut through a few trees and cross the old bridge, it was less tiring and a lot more soothing. He slowly continued along the path, it wasn't too long after that he spotted a man standing over by a few trees, he thought the man looked familiar so he decided to call over to him " Hey? Izuru, is that you?" The man mustn't have noticed cause he continued prancing on and playing with nature.

Hakuro thought the man was his Chunnin friend Izuru from the academy. He wore the same overcoat and had brown hair, he was a bit too far out to clearly make out, since he wasn't facing Hakuro's direction. Izuru was a boy who loved to act extra at times, so Hakuro got the idea that he was being ignored on purpose. He reached down and picked up a small rock, Think your funny huh Izuru? He threw the rock up once; caught it; then launched it at the man's head. "Ha take that" Hakuro busted into laughter as the man got hit with the medium sized rock.

Kyu heard a man calling in his direction. Who's Izuru? he thought. Oh well, just ignore him. He went back to looking at the birds. The man kept yelling at him, but Kyu didn't care. Then he got hit with a rock.

"Ouch!" Kyu exclaimed, whirling around. "Who the hell are you?!?!" He picked up the rock again, and, flipping the hair out of his eye, only for it to fall back into place again, he threw it back at the stranger, but missed slightly to the left, and stomped the ground in anger. The birds in the tree next to him flew anyway, chriping angrily. He looked away from the birds and focused on the man again. He was rolling around on the ground laughing. "You think this is funny?!?!" Kyu screamed at the man. Then he started laughing. "You know, that was kinda funny!" Kyu smiled and laughed, and walked over to the man, giving him a hand up.

Hakuro laughed until eye water came rolling down his face. It took him about 1 minute to finally settle down, only to look up at a tall stranger who wasn't Izuru "Oh crap!!" Hakuro slowly gripped on the mans hand, helping himself stand in place.
"Listen, I'm really sorry about the rock, I thought you were someone I knew, I wasn't thinking straight. Besides it wasn't that bad, It could have been a kunai.

Hakuro looked around frantically, he needed to change the subject and quick. " Oh, I don't think I introduced myself. My name's Hakuro, I only recently turned Genin a few weeks ago, but I'm loving the life, hehe."I don't usually see many Shinobi out here, what brings a busy man like yourself in this location?. I didn't think you higher ups had time to breath with the constant assignments given, it's already a large work load for myself, and yet I'm still just a Genin. Hakuro slowly scratched the side of his head; wondering why this Shinobi was so cheerful, he had just taken a rapid rock to the head.

Kyu smiled as the young boy apoligized, and then jumped into talking again.

"Look, kid." Kyu said slowly. "You've got plenty to learn. But you'll get there someday, I know it." Kyu paused and looked back to the tree. Some birds had came back, but there were still some missing.

"You really got me with that rock!" he said, laughing again and rubbing the back of his head. "And you're right, I am lucky it wasn't a kunai. But why would you be throwing things at people to begin with? We're all allies here. And as for your question about what I am doing here? You know, I like to come here and watch the birds... Listen to the river... I like my private time. And you'll get used to the work. It's the same thing over and over again... But I assume you've just had D Rank Missions so far? Oh my god, those were boring. "Rescue this cat!" or "Bring me my sandwich!". You'd think being a shinobi would be more exciting!" Kyu stretched out his hand. "My name is Kyu. Pleasure to meet you, Hakuro."

Hakuro smiled, yes the D-rank missions weren't as intense, but he didn't mind doing these things. Helping others out has always been something he enjoyed doing, he didn't want to rush into things the Kage didn't think he was ready for. "Well, I know it can get really boring doing the little things, but every single assignment you do to support our village counts, even putting a smile on one or two people's faces. I don't think I'm ready for A-rank, B-rank missions right now, and hope I don't have to deal with all of that until I feel ready. In my current state, I can honestly say I'm not." Hakuro reached out and held kyu's hand, a big grin came upon his face as he caught the man's gaze, seems like the boy still had the rock situation on his mind.

So Kyu, your a Jounin right? what's it like traveling to distant countries and meeting new people? Are they like our village? or are the rumors about them being murderous people true? I'd hate to go out on my own not knowing anything about these places. Hakuro dropped back down and took a seat in the grass. He decided to relax for a little, he wasn't quite ready to go home yet, after all, he had stumbled upon a Jounin who wasn't busy, that was very rare these days.

Kyu listened carefully to what the Genin had to say. Everyone's thoughts mattered, no matter who's they are. Gotta get the knowledge, find everything out. Friend or foe, knowing them is crucial. And Kyu just liked people.

Hakuro had a very firm handshake. This is important.

"Yeah, I'm a Jounin. Nothing special, really!" he chuckled, and went on. "It's really nothing special going to other countries... People are people, no matter where they are from. There are the dangerous ones... The crazy ones... But they're mostly just like us. I usually have to deal with the crazy ones, but you know, they all have they're reasons.. And to be honest, I can see some of them..." Kyu paused and closed his eyes. The smile faded for a moment. Then he perked right back up again. "Just remember. When you get to travel to other places, remember they are people too."

Hakuro didn't understand what the Jounin's statement meant, "they all have their reasons.. And to be honest, I can see some of them...", but anyways he nodded in agreement, he was taught to respect what older heads had to say. Hakuro slowly turned his head away from the shinobi, he looked up at the sky and wondered when the time would come for him to take on heartless ninja, the attribute he despised the most. "mmmk, I'll remember that. ." He shifted over to his right a bit, and slightly turned towards the shinobi; he caught Kyu's gaze "Say Kyu-Sensei?. . I know this is all sudden, but do you mind being my mentor? I've been searching for an intelligent educator for quite some time now, I hope you don't mind taking me under your wing. It's just. . . . Something is telling me your the perfect match for me .." The wind picked up as the boy had finished speaking, he didn't want Kyu to say no, but if he decided to, he wanted a heart warming rejection.

Kyu looked down at the boy he had just met. He wants a mentor... Am I really ready for this? Kyu thought. He thought of his dad, and of all the people he used to know. No... I'm not ready... Sorry kid. There was a long pause.

As soon as Kyu opened his mouth to speak, the wind picked up again. Kyu put on his best smile and patted the boy on the shoulder. "Look kid..." he said slowly. "I don't think I'm ready to be a mentor... and you have to focus on your Genin duties right now. We have our places in the world... and this isn't mine. At least not yet." Kyu stood up straight and formed a couple handseals. "This won't be the last time we meet. I'll be watching you, kiddo. Good luck. Fuuton • Kaze Chakushu no Jutsu!" Kyu jumped on the small pocket of air and jumped over the trees and away from the river. I'll be watching you kid.

Hakuro looked on as the man jumped off. He wasn't disappointed, deep down inside the boy was expecting that answer, after all his stomach had begun growling not too long after, so much for a sign he though. Hakuro got up, brushed of his clothing and continued on his way home, he definitely didn't see the last of Kyu-Sensei. Next time they encountered each other, Hakuro would surly be a much more mature person.
