Continued from PART 1

Yoru was quietly leaning against the wall of an alleyway. It was pretty dirty, with several overflowing garbage cans lining the sides and even a stray cat that seemed to be stalking a small group of oddly large rats, likely looking for it's next meal.

By this point, the sun was high overhead, indicating it to be about noon, maybe a little before then. Considering that he and Inoshiro had started the mission at about 8:00 in the morning, a decent amount of time had passed since they had set out to search for the stolen dog. By this point, Inoshiro's sense-enhancing technique had worn off, and they were taking some time to recuperate, havingexerted themselves to find where the scent trail was leading before her jutsu wore off.

'I should probably apologize to her for being so rude about the whole sense-enhancing thing. I mean, she obviously wasn't trying to harm me, and I shouldn't have reacted the way I did. She probably doesn't even know any jutsu advanced enough to directly affect my mind anyways, she only just graduated. And even if she did, she's a fellow Konoha shinobi, I doubt that she would get away with doing it even if she wanted to.' Yoru was currently scolding himself for being so abrasive towards his partner for this mission. Glancing towards Inoshiro, Yoru noticed that she still seemed to be ashamed about using the technique on him. With a sigh, Yoru decided to 'take advantage' of the situation, saying "Tell ya what. If you're really that upset about using the jutsu on me, make it up to me with lunch. We'll get something to eat after we finish this mission to celebrate."

While he was saying this, Yoru's eyes were carefully scanning the probable thief's home, taking in how small and rundown it was, which made it all the more likely that they had stolen the dog to try to get money, probably from a ransom which, in all honesty, wasn't the best idea to do in a village full of shinobi.

...They finally arrived.

Simply looking at it, one could sense the danger and vile intent coming from that decrepit place. Crack-ridden concrete, busted windows...It was like she was inside of a comic book, so terrifyingly cliché. What awaited them on the inside? A lone thief, simply trying to get revenge? A pack of bandits, ready to kill if they did not get their way? Well, they'd find out soon enough...And truth be told, Inoshiro's heart sank at the thought.

'You can do this...' She reminded herself, eyes locked onto the decaying home. All sorts of feeling swirled inside of the Kunoichi, currently. Fear, Guilt, Hesitance, and even a bit of Excitement...All so conflicting, yet they shared one trait: They made her blood pump like crazy, her heart practically beating out of her chest.

Feelings of guilt from using Yoru as her own guinea pig still crawled beneath her skin. Whenever she took a glance at her teammate, it'd send a familiar chill down her spine. Inoshiro really wanted to apologize, but whenever she attempted to speak a word about it, her throat simply shut down, as if a large lump was blocking the way.

Suddenly, though, his voice rang through her ears, making the Kunoichi take a sharp, somewhat scared glance at him- mostly out of shock. Despite everything, Yoru still seemed to be quite...Casual, during all of this. His words did help her, though, and she couldn't help but crack a tiny smile. ''...Hah, I guess I owe you that much, hm?'' Inoshiro paused, eyes still locked on the home. She nodded, though, the smile growing a tad larger. ''Alrighty then, let's head to Ichiraku's after this, yea?'' Inoshiro said with a more positive tone, glancing at her scarfed comrade. Atleast she had something to look forward to now. All they had to do was wrap this up and all their worries would be gone! Man, the idea of a big bowl of Ramen never sounded so inviting...

Back to the situation at hand, though. Inoshiro's eyes gazed back at the home, and despite it being so small and run-down, there were no signs of life inside. Not a shadow on the wall, and not a single sound that echoed out to the streets. ''It's...Quiet in there, don't you think?'' Inoshiro whispered suspiciously. ''...They might be expecting company.'' She hissed, the idea of the place being boobytrapped against possible Shinobi suddenly becoming very likely. Stealing such a high-value animal in the middle of Konohagakure, you MUST be ready for possible Shinobi to track you down.

...They couldn't take any chances.

''There might be an entrance on the roof, or through the back. We should probably check for traps first...''

Nodding at getting a positive response from Inoshiro, Yoru's eyes returned to the house, carefully looking for any possible entrances that could be taken advantage of. There was the front door of course, as well as the busted windows, though they were boarded up... probably to keep anyone from looking in. As a whole, the house seemed to be on the brink of collapsing, which wouldn't exactly be good for the mission. However, Yoru's eyes picked up on a specific detail: a small gap between the house and one of the neighboring buildings. It seemed to be about two feet wide, and it was nearly pitch-black, keeping Yoru from seeing what was inside of it. From what he could tell, it seemed to be fairly long, and Yoru would not be surprised if it were not only the thief's escape route, but also was heavily trapped.

Running through possible plans in his mind, Yoru turned back to his partner to explain his idea. "If I were to make a clone and send it down that alley over there-" Yoru pointed at the indicated alley before continuing, "to scope it out for a possible entrance and traps, could you keep a close eye on the house itself? You know, make sure that nobody runs for it?" At this point, Yoru was steadily making his way through the few hand signs he needed to use his Static Clone technique, which would probably be able to take down any civilian thieves, so long as they didn't have shinobi training.

Not inside the house but rather the yard directly behind it, a gathering of thieves celebrated their early spoils by playing a nice game of poker right out in the open. The prize of the hour, a well taken care of show dog, could be found bound tightly to a post forced to watch as the men laughed and joked. "Easiest score we've had yet," said one of the men slamming a card down on the table. "I'll say!" Another chimed in, still reeling in the adrenaline high that hadn't quite come down all the way. The remaining six thieves however, were on alert. Watching cuts, dug ins, gang-ways and most importantly - the house.

Many had believed the plan maker to be celebrating prematurely as the sale was not yet final. Anything between then and now was possible but there was no use telling that to a drunk! The dog, sighed defeatedly. Yearning only for the presence of its master.

Huge thanks to Stategist for wanting to DM this a bit, you're our savior lol

There was a nerve-wracking silence between the two Genin for that brief moment, both thinking through every possible direction they could tackle this in. Truth be told, Inoshiro was so cautious of what might've been awaiting them on the other side of those concrete walls, that she had trouble deciding on a single course of action.

Yoru was quick to share one of his own ideas with her, although upon hearing it...Inoshiro wasn't all too excited. The Kunoichi let out a raspy sigh, pausing for a moment, before finally shaking her head. ''...Too risky. We don't know what's waiting there...If they spot your clone, they'll know we're here- and who knows what they'll do then...'' Inoshiro's voice grew silent as she thought of the possible consequences. While she still had no idea who exactly the thief, or thieves, were- the chance of the dog being flat-out slaughtered upon them being found out was scarily likely.

...Inoshiro really wouldn't be able to live with herself if she allowed an innocent animal to just...Die.

For a moment, the Yamanaka thought things over again, her eyes scanning the environment slowly and intently. The buildings climbed high and tall, some higher than others- but damn was it obstructing. It limited their movement, and possible entry points.

If only they could reach higher ground...

And then, suddenly, it hit her! While she didn't have a bright, positive 'Eureka!' moment, Inoshiro did settle on their next action. Her eyes moved to Yoru, her gaze as serious as can be, startling for someone usually so...Unconfident. ''We'll climb on the nearby rooftops and see if we can scout for better ways to break in...-'' Inoshiro paused, her eyes moving to the roof of the rundown building. ''I really doubt they'd bother with the roof of all places...Sound good?'' Inoshiro glanced back briefly, just to check for Yoru's reaction and thoughts.

In the back of her mind, Inoshiro was already thinking of ways to get to the rooftops without alerting too many people. And wouldn't you know...Not too far from their position, in an alleyway a couple of houses to the right of their target, she spotted a rusted, but functional ladder leading to the roofs!

'Dang, that's convenient!'

The tiniest of nervous grins cracked her face as she took a few steps forward, poking her head out of the alleyway they were in. Briefly glancing over her shoulder, she checked to see if Yoru was willing to go through with this.

Hearing his partner's opinion on the admittedly foolish plan that he had voiced, Yoru nodded in agreement. He hadn't put very much thought into it in the first place, and he was honestly just spit-balling here. Lowering his hands, Yoru stopped channeling the chakra that he had begun preparing for his clone, relaxing slightly as the draw on his meager reserves halted.

Yoru returned to quietly scanning the area, struggling to think of potential options to get into the house without just barging in. He really wished that the mission had been given to them later in the day so he could have gotten more sleep, because he was actually struggling to think of anything that could qualify as a plan.

Yoru nearly sighed in relief when Inoshiro spoke up, voicing an idea of her own. "'We'll climb on the nearby rooftops and see if we can scout for better ways to break in... I really doubt they'd bother with the roof of all places...Sound good?"

Thinking over her idea for a moment, Yoru promptly voiced his agreement, saying "Good idea. The only reason they would have booby-trapped the roof of a house in a shinobi village would be if they were actually just so stupid that they thought it wouldn't draw any attention. Considering how run-down the building is, there might even be a few places that we can use to scout out the inside of the house without actually going inside." Shrugging off his slight embarrassment at not having thought of such a simple solution by himself, Yoru tucked away his headband, strolling down the alleyway and around the corner of the bulding on the target's direct left. After all, it wouldn't do for anyone looking out of the house's windows to get suspicious of a shinobi walking by their hideout.

Making sure that nobody was watching, Yoru carefully placed his foot on the side of the building, silently stalking up its side as he made his way up to the roof.

By focusing chakra into his/her feet, the user is able to walk up trees and other vertical surfaces in a similar fashion to walking along the ground. This chakra amount must be precise, and although all shinobi learn this technique, the user's control stat will determine how well this jutsu can be executed. Users with low control 2 or lower will often fall during the use of this technique, while users with average control 3 or higher will be able to use this technique functionally. It lasts for a number of posts equal to the user's stamina stat times 3.

Luckily there wasn't much backtalk from her partner. Not that she didn't appreciate the guy's opinion or thoughts, not at all! Inoshiro just wanted to get this mission over and done with, and even though she wouldn't outright admit it, the Kunoichi thought her approach was their safest bet.

It seemed Yoru agreed though, good!

''Mhm, exactly! Inoshiro paused with a smile, retracting her head back into the alleyway for a moment. ''For Genin, we're doing pretty good, don'tcha think?'' She added as her smirk grew a tad bit. While they had yet to get to the difficult part of the mission, they did manage to track down the thieves faster than the rest of the Genin Teams assigned to the rescue. That's the luxury of having a Yamanaka on your team!

Inoshiro's smile stuck to her face, thinking that maybe she should take more pride in her heritage.
Maybe...It is what made her special, after all...right?

''Okay, let's do this...!'' Inoshiro hissed positively as Yoru exited the alleyway, just to pump themselves up that bit more, even if it looked pretty silly. She noted Yoru tucking away his headband, and immediately mimicked the action. How come she didn't think of that? Seems Yoru was pretty smart on some fronts!

With her Forehead Protector tucked into her back pocket, Inoshiro casually strolled out of the alleyway next to Yoru, as if the two were just childhood friends passing by nonchalantly. Yoru was first to round the corner and scale the building using the Jutsu they were taught at the academy. Inoshiro kept watch, but not before looking at him in slight surprise...And stupidity.

'...Oh right- we can climb walls...'

And here she was dead-set on finding a ladder- so much for being a cunning Shinobi. Letting out a little sigh, Inoshiro made sure no one was looking at them while Yoru was scaling the side of the building. When he'd eventually reach the top, Inoshiro tried to grab his attention from down below non-vocally by waving at him discreetly. If she managed to get his attention, she'd try to sign him to 'Watch her back', mouthing the words silently while making gestures.

Whether or not Yoru actually listened or knew what she was trying to say, Inoshiro didn't have much of a choice- she HAD to get onto that building. Slowly, trying to make as little noise as possible, she scaled the building the same way Yoru did, although she was much faster and agile in doing so thanks to her superior physicality.

Once on top of the building, Inoshiro didn't speak a single word, and put a finger infront of her mouth to signal toward Yoru to be quiet as well. She didn't want the thief to potentially hear them...

Silently she crawled on all fours to the very edge of the building's roof, the one that would overlook its backyard.

Inoshiro didn't dare sneak a peek...But she did hear something- voices?

Could these be the thieves they were looking for?

When the word had finally come regarding where the item was to be shipped, the thieves had exhausted the bulk of their alcohol supply and those who weren't intoxicated grumbled at others to make a store run. Of course, it hadn't dawned on any of them that while they partied - someone was coming to steal away their "Hard earned" spoils of the trade. "So that's that then eh?" Said the assumed to be leader of the bunch, a tall slender man with jet black hair falling down into a pony-tail behind him. Compared to the others, this one was a bit on the creepy side. Not because he looked menacing but for the exact opposite; everyone else looked and acted like bandits, thugs - but there was a sense of elegance to this particular gentleman raised several questions.

"Zazu, I'm leaving this matter to you. See to it that you don't screw it up." There was a dagger in his tone and Zazu, a shorter less appealing man to the eyes to care not to invoke his leader's wrath. Then men were silent as the leader made his departure, never again to return to the run down hideout - but lit up like Christmas when they were sure that he was gone. "Just you wait Kaiza!" Zazu cursed, turning to the rest of the troupe he wasted no time in setting things in motion.

For the two Genin...Time was beginning to run out.
