It Was Never a Quiet Morning

Post by Cernunnos » Mon Jun 01, 2020 7:25 am

The Hyuuga compound was silent, the sound of dawn sang with the voices of birds chirping. The sun was peeking from behind the clouds, beginning to wake up just like the rest of Konoha. It was a Sunday morning, the perfect morning for a sleep-in.

“I guess I’m a ninja now... it’s not right for a ninja to sleep in.”

Hato had just concluded his morning meditation as the water boiled. He opened the cabinet and reached forward to grab onto a jar.

“Cinnamon will do.”

Pressing his lips against the firm edges of the cup, Hato paused for a moment, his nostrils absorbing the sweet, earthy fragrance. He took a sip, the spicy yet sweet flavours danced on his taste buds.

“Oooooh yeah!”

A few moments later Hato was ready and out the door, the destination was the nearest training ground. He did not dare to wake the elders at this time, that would equal certain death.

It was strange, it wasn’t that Hato felt like training. He felt particularly tired and unmotivated this morning, like most mornings. Hato wondered what it was that pushed him out of bed each morning, was he now responsible for the lives of the civilians of Konoha now he was a ninja? Was he responsible for the wellbeing of the Hyuuga clan? Was it his duty to get out of bed every morning, to become stronger for his village and protect the people around him… or was there something else, perhaps another reason.

Before long he reached the training ground, the grass was lush yet adequately trimmed and cared for. Hato found one particular spot, next to a large tree covered in kunai marks. He began to stretch, aches and snaps followed and echoed gently. The park seemed empty for now, besides the few wildlife roaming, it was time to begin another day of training, another day of being a ninja.

Izakis sword was in his hand, he was hacking and slashing away at the man covered in dark clothing. Each and every single on of his swings was parried easily by the man sword in a clash, that resulted in the metal chipping away in a violent explosion of sparks. The mans face was completely covered, the only thing visible was the mans creepy, evil smile that was always followed by an even creepier laugh every time Izakis struggle was easily parried. The feeling created by this laugh made his stomach churn, it made him cringe, he hated this man, he wanted to kill him so badly for what he has done, for all the pain and suffering this man created for him and his mother, for destroying his happy family. But, he was incapable, all his efforts were easily countered with minimal effort. The anger could be seen upon the visage of Izakis face, he was angry at the man, but the fury that stemmed from his sheer ineptness of not being able to land a single blow caused him to lose control of himself. Hacking and slashing with such violence, that all technique and skill had vanished from his movements, he was fueled by the fury. But the man parried all his furious attacks with ease, erupting with the same creepy laughter and aggravating the youth even more.

Suddenly, the man dashed away from Izaki, and he followed, struggling to keep up. He saw, a figure kneeling on the ground, and the man stood behind with his cold sword pressed against the figures throat. It was his mother. His mother was kneeling on the ground with the sword pressed against her neck. Izaki dashed forward his sword coated with chakra, ready to cut the man down. Another evil laugh as Izaki got in range to cut the man down, but he carried on laughing. His muscles tensed and his arm moved as Izaki was swinging his sword, a mist of red erupted from his mothers throat;

'NOOOOOO!' the youth screamed as his sword swung towards the man. The moment it connected, he was sat upright in a wood, with his arm extended before him, his sword glowing with chakra and sweat pouring out of him. 'He's dead... He's dead... Train... I got to train...' The youth said as the aura dissipated from his sword and he pricked the ground with the tip, helping him get back onto his feet. He placed his hand on the tree for support and he walked out of the shadows of the wood. His clothes were rugged and dirty, it was evident that this youth has been here training for some a couple of days.

He saw the boy with pearly white eyes stretching and the youth stopped, still holding onto the tree for support.

'An opponent...' he said. His voice was croaky and his movements twitchy, but his sword was in his hand, ready.

The right leg was stiff, the muscle ached and was decorated with various wounds. The rigorous training regime of an up and coming ninja was strenuous, between missions and training, there wasn't much free time left to allocate. This was the life Hato chose, despite being thrown into it with the last name Hyuuga, Hato always had a choice. It was a choice to join the academy, to strap on the Konoha headband, and dedicate your life to the shinobi lifestyle. And it continued every day with the choice to leave the safe confines of normal life and enter the training field with the intent to become stronger.

Hato continued to stretch until a sudden loud scream pulsated throughout the nearby area, an eerie atmosphere descending upon the field as the echoes began to fade, dissipating into silence. Hato peered his head to the direction of the sound, there was no need to activate the Byakugan, not yet. In the distance, a figure stood leaning against a tree, the glistening beam of the sun reflecting off the sword in the ninja's other hand. An aura of melancholy vibrated through the air, that quickly manifested into a degree of tension.

It was too early to determine if this person was a threat or a potential training partner. From the first perspective, Hato assumed the stranger to be near the same age as himself. A smile escaped from the corner of his face, as Hato began to stretch out his fingers.

"Do you plan on using that sword on me, or is it used for decoration?"

Hato was never the best at insults, but this was his declaration of war.

The youth smirked at the comment. This sword could cut through flesh with ease, but Izaki was not the best at handling it. Izaki let go of the tree and made his way towards his fellow Konoha-nin, he wanted to get a better look at the boy with whom he was about to exchange fists. 'The eyes of the Hyuuga clan are amazing, whenever I look at any of your kin, I feel like they are looking directly through me... It's a little scary.' the youth said as he sheathed his sword, and brought out a weapon he was more skilled with using; a scroll and a brush. The smirk on his face widened as he looked up at the youth who possessed those killer eyes.

'I hope you're ready for this.' The youth said as he dunked the tip of his brush in the small pot of ink that poked out of the wooden scroll roller. A painting of two tigers appeared on the scroll and with a swift move of his hands, the youth performed a seals that brought the painting to life; escaping from the scroll the tigers charged at the youth with the pale eyes. Moving in unison, a few meters apart; each of them was going to deliver a strike simultaneously. But in the mean time, Izaki was not just sat around, watching the show. The grey haired youth was already painting yet another technique which he was going to cast into motion when the time was right. After, his gaze moved up to see how the youth was managing to hold his own against the tigers that were coming for him.

Hato began to channel chakra into both of his palms, the chakra surging into the depths of his hands as he watched the two tigers approach. Hato thrust both of his palms towards the tigers, firing two void palm strikes at each. The blasts of chakra struck the two tigers, leaving a cloud of ink dispersing into the air. Hato continued to run towards Izaki, his hands hovering freely by his side as he focused on Izaki's position.

"So he uses ink, and he also chose to put away the sword. It seems he wants to keep me away. Those pesky tigers are going to be a problem... they are fast."

As Hato honed in on Izaki's position, he noticed the genin had already begun drawing his next technique. He needed to be careful, he was closer to Izaki and that now meant he was in closer range to his techniques. The challenge was going to be getting close enough to Izaki where he could strike while avoiding the incoming ink techniques. While running Hato began to channel chakra towards his Byakugan, the increased blood flow causing the veins around the eyeballs to bulge as his pupil's became more distinct. He looked forward with his activated Byakugan, being able to clearly see the chakra pathway system of Izaki. He remained alert, cautious as to what Izaki would do next.

~Byakugan: Telescopic Vision
C Rank Ninjutsu
By channelling a small amount of chakra to the Hyuuga's Byakugan, the clan member uses their doujutsu to zoom in like a telescope, allowing them to see much farther away. In doing so, the Hyuuga member is able to see up to 500 meters away as though they were mere feet away. It should be noted that while using their telescopic vision the Hyuuga experiences tunnel vision, making it difficult to see their surroundings. This jutsu can be maintained as long as the Hyuuga channels chakra to their eyes.

After channelling chakra into their palm, the user will thrust their palm toward a target. This technique extends the range of their palm thrust by firing off a shell of chakra in the direction of the palm thrust, moving a speed and strength equal to the user’s [Control] moving up to 25 meters.

The youth watched as his pale eyed opponent used a long ranged technique to dispose of the incoming beasts. It was a good move, a precise blast that struck true upon them. Unfortunately, the beasts would not be that easy to conquer. The youth would have to use techniques that are more powerful in order to achieve his goal. But as of now, he still had two vicious animals coming for him, and the grey haired boy was sat patiently watching his opponents actions. Trying to figure out his fighting style and the best way to counter him. As of now, he knew that he was skilled in medium ranged attacks, and the speed at which he moved completely out classed himself. It was not going to be a smart move to allow that to even happen. With his painting complete, and a few hand seals complete, the youth freed the bird from the the binding that was the scroll. Landing beside him, the youth would hop onto the bird and take off into the and make preparations for his next assault from above.

Not knowing much about his new opponent, he was not planning on allowing the youth to get close to him. Takashi, the great brid, gave him that advantage. Now, he was sat cross legged painting yet another technique. This time, it was going to be a simple swarm of insects that would home in on the youth and obscure his vision in preparation for his next attack; that would hopefully come as a surprise to the sightless genin. A few hand seals later, the swarm evaporated out of the scroll and headed directly for the genin, forming a cloud that surrounded the boy and hopefully clouded his vision, and judgement.

Ink Release: Takashi
C-Rank Ninjutsu
A great hawk which is more a supporting technique than one which is used for attacking or defending. Although it can be used for such measures but its efficiency drops greatly in such application. Takashi’s strength and speed is equal to ten if not in contact with the user, and it is also only able to move in a straight line. However if the user is in touch with Takashi, the bird moves at a speed and strength of the jutsu is equal to [Control]. The bird is able to carry up to two people on its back during flight and is fully controlled by the user. The jutsu remains active for as long as the user wishes to.

Ink Release: Swarm
D-Rank Ninjutsu
Using a paintbrush and a scroll, the user draw a swarm of insects of their choice. This swarm can then be used to disorientate the victim. Although this jutsu has no attacking potential, it is a very valuable asset as every individual insect moves at a speed equal to [Control]. Any contact on the creature will disperse it. The amount of insects which is possible to create is limitless, although more insects will place a higher chakra drain on the user. Jutsu remains active until all the insects are destroyed or the used deactivates the jutsu.

As the two void palm strikes were released at the two tigers, Hato was sure he had this in the bag. "Pfft, Ink? Is that it. I have this in the bag!" Before he finished speaking, he watched as the strikes were not strong enough to disperse the tigers. In a moment of hesitation, he tried to somewhat defend himself before the two tigers collided with his body, sending him back flying a couple of metres. He landed onto his back with a loud thud, his head miraculously missing the cold ground by a few inches.

"What the hell was that... hey, what a minute!" He looked up to see the genin fly away on a bird, it almost became futile at this point. However, Hato wasn't going to give up, he had to come down on that bird sometime. He looked to the trees, perhaps he could hide and wait it out, his chakra wouldn't last forever. He then looked to notice a swarm of ink insects rushing towards his position, surrounding his position in a way that proved to blind and annoy him. He started to swat his hands near his face, trying to disperse the swarm away from his vision.

The Byakugan then deactivated, Hato was unable to keep it active for too long. He needed to conserve his chakra if he was going to outlast his opponent. He forgot the location of the bushes, the swarm clouding his judgement. He needed to disperse the swarm quickly and make a run to safety.

Izaki watched as the swarm engulfed the Hyuuga. It was apparent that this one had very little experience in real life combat, it was good that it was Izaki who was his first real opponent. Eager to test his abilities against different kinds of people, he would never really hurt anyone to the point of hospitalisation; unless he had to. Takashi began to hover in the air by moving its wings in a figure of eight style rotation. This allowed Izaki to hover and pay close attention to the youth, without having to control where they were heading. The Hyuuga was having trouble with dealing with the jutsu cast upon him by the grey haired youth, but it was a part of it; he had to learn to figure things out on the spot, and take his chances, otherwise his lack of action could cost him his life.

The two tigers proceeded towards the youth, through the swarm, with their claws ready to strike; they would both swing at the Hyuuga at the same time, in order to deliver a blow strong enough that could potentially render the boy unconscious if he did not do anything. In the mean time, Izaki descended and began hovering on Takashi a few inches above the ground, waiting a few moments before dispersing the swarm that surrounded the boy, in order to see what had come off him.
