Chasing Feathers

The cloak was drenched from the pouring rain, he put it on to protect him from it. But now, it was more of a hindrance than a benefit. The only thing that was stopping him from letting the wind take it is the useful hood that stopped the rain drops from hitting his face and eyes. Without it, he'd be leaping from roof to roof with his eyes closed, a recipe for disaster. And this was not time time to take pointless risks. After all, he was heading to meet Aki, his friend from the Village Hidden in the Sand, who was here visiting, before the two villages headed to Aroma country together. They were setting out on a quest together; the day they first met, Aki told Noeru about a bird whose feathers had a special abilities, and apparently one could find it in this village. Noeru had never seen this bird before, but he knew of a place that was a home to the biggest variety of animals he knew of, The Forest of Death. They agreed to meet back at take out place they went to before they set off together for their destination.

Leaping from one roof top to another, Noeru was drawing closer to his destination. But, this storm was not letting off. Traversing unknown terrain in this weather was going to make everything a lot harder. He was feeling especially anxious about the name of the forest itself, 'The Forest of Death... It doubt that it'll be filled with flowers and butterflies...' he thought as he slid down a diagonal, wooden roof that protected outdoor stands of the shop.

Splosh.

His feet planted firmly in a puddle that flooded most of the street. He looked around as he saw the take-out place in the distance, but Aki was nowhere to be seen. Slowly, Noeru moved towards his destination, barely lifting his feet of the sunken ground, casually strolling through the puddle.

'Not a soul in sight... This storm is holding everybody hostage... Probably a good thing...' Noeru thought as he moved through the empty streets, keeping an eye out for his comerade.

What a perfect day… The Suna genin thought as the rain rolled down the front of his hood. It was vastly different from the harsh winds and unbridled heat of the land hidden in the sand and he was not sure how to feel about it. His gear was water-resistant but not proof and prolonged exposure to this downpour would eventually seep through. Although, everything that he read about this elusive enchanted bird actually said that rain was a sign of luck as its chakra and influence seeped into the area around it affecting the weather. Akihiro did not like believing in anecdotal evidence at best.

He folded a small letter he received from Noeru into his pouch. They were to meet at the entrance of The Forest Of Death. Suna had a similarly high-level area for training and practice missions of genin and chunin, but Akihiro would be lying if he said that he enjoyed his time in it. He reminisced as a chill shuttered down his spine while he stared at the gate. The aura was palpable and familiar.

”He sure is taking his time. Perhaps the rain has delayed him.”

He shook his hood aggressively sending water all over the place and pulled it lower down over his face. Visibility was distorted, but off in the distance down the street, Akihiro could make out a silhouette that vaguely matched his friend's height.

He raised a hand in the air waving the obscured onlooker over as he found refuge under a nearby cluster of trees.

”Senju-san, over here!”

What I would not give for the warmth of the furnace right now.

'Hmm...' The youth thought as he heard a familiar voice shouting in the distance. His gaze quickly shifted towards the figure, it's arm moving quickly through the air from side to side. Noeru smirked and dashed towards him with full speed. Different place, but they were both here in the end - ready to take on the brutal weather of Konoha, and the beast it keeps locked up.

As he came to a halt before Aki: 'Do you ever get weather like this in Suna?' the youth questioned curious about what the village hidden in the sand in like. But time was short and they had a lot to get on with. Finding some sort of clue that would potentially lead them to this mystical bird. They could not be sure that this bird was actually in the forest, they could be risking their lives for nothing. Noerus fists clenched as he thought about the dangers he had been told about that awaited in this very forest, and they were willingly going to go in there, to find a bird. If Noeru was not such a thrill seeker, he would not have bothered, but he lived for this kind of thing.

Deciding that they would talk as they went, Noeru looked at Aki and gave him a nod before jumping over the wire mesh fence that stopped the beasts from rampaging through the village. It seemed fairly poxy to Noeru, he could not believe that this was actually used to stop all these animals from escaping. He bit his tongue to bring back his concentration to what was going on before him, now that they were inside they would have to work together to stay alive. Noeru could not wait.

Chasing Feathers

As the Konah genin approached at an alarming speed his image came into view, the lights causing his green eyes to flash slightly. He too was cowering under a hood from the downpour. He skids to a halt just before the Suna genin, water splashing up. "It rains very rarely in the dessert maybe once or twice a year, but sand storms on the other hand..." His words trailed off for effect.

Akihiro could feel the oppressive energy coming just from the other side of the fence line. He surmised that everything was kept at bay using fuinjutsu. An area of study he was particularly fond of and would like the chance to examine just how they keep such intense creatures and energies behind what appeared to be an everyday fence. As he was lost in thought which happened more often than not he missed the signal from Noeru to proceed. He jumped over the fence with Akihiro just a pace behind.

Never mind the fact they had not gone over the plan or what they should do in a situation where they ran into something. The Suna genin approached things entirely differently and would need to make an effort to take the lead."Noeru-san, wait up. We should talk about the dangers of this place and what we will do. Also about how to find the bird. I have some scrolls."

Akihiro would sprint to catch up and pass him before stopping on the nearest large tree branch. As his partner would land he began to speak. "First, let me take care of communication." He performed several hand seals and placed his hands behind his left ear and on his lips as an intricate seal a few inches appeared behind his ear. He reached out to touch the back of Noeru's ear and his lips. [color=green="Relax its just a communication seal"[/color] He assured the boy. "This way we can speak to each other even if we are some distance apart." The thick canopy in the forest provided ample cover from the storm with only pockets of rain finding their way through. Akihiro pulled out a few scrolls that detailed their prey and a multitude of stories referencing sightings and handed them to his partner. "Pick on that peeks your gut"

By performing the necessary hand seals, the user will then touch their target’s ear and on the lips, this creates an audio link between themselves and any targets they personally place this seal combination on. While hearing is always active, channeling chakra into the seal allows affected targets to speak, their words being stored and transmitted to the other seals. The act of speaking charges negligent chakra.

Chasing Feathers

'Sand storms huh?' Noeru let out as he thought about the giant thick cloud that absorbs everything and hammers it with tiny sand grains. On their own, harmless. But if you add a little bit of momentum, and millions of them, it a good thrashing. Noeru decided that he would like to experience one someday, but for now the Forset of Death would consume all of his attention. A moment later he heard Aki say his name, and so he slowed down, making it easier for the Suna-nin to catch up.

'I think it would be a good idea not to plan too much... We have no clue what we are up against. Some sort of procedure would be good though.' Noeru said and began listening once again, only to then allow Aki to perform a technique which would allow them to communicate over distances. A very nifty trick, Noeru liked it very much, but it did not stop him from being a little hesitant to Aki casting an unknown jutsu on him. But, Noeru relaxed after a moment, and Aki instruction to relax.

Soon, Noeru was handed scrolls which had detailed images of this mystical bird. It was a beauty. Noeru studied the scrolls closely to gather as much information as possible. When hunting, knowing more was the goal. And he needed to know about its favorite surroundings and atmosphere, and apparently the rain was a good sign. Soon Noeru passed the scrolls back to Aki, and waited for him to decide on how he wanted to play this.

'Over to you, chief.'
