Commander Yoru stood in the Anbu training facility, he had asked all three members of ROOT to meet him first thing in the morning at 6:00am. There was no natural light, simple lanterns on the wall with a soft training mat across the floor.

Yoru wore simple navy sandals, trousers and a shirt obviously the under garments of his old jounin uniform. His right arm and hands wrapped entirely in bandage, his hair pulled up in a tight ponytail.

Today he was going to push the group to their limits, see what they we’re really made of. There would be no bell chasing or painting dots. If they didn’t pull their weight they would die.

His head turned to the clock, ticking on the wall 5:59, they should be here any moment.

Lateness would not be accepted.

The spider woman was used to these early mornings by now, having lived this way for years she had grown accustomed to little sleep. But what she wasn't used to, what she feared more than anything, was angering the ANBU commander. Ever since that encounter with him in the forest, she had a deep seated fear of Yoru. More than once she had woken up from a nightmare, a pool of cold sweat gathered around her as she gasped for air and shot upright in her bed. She could never openly admit to anyone what had happened of course, obviously because of it being an ANBU related situation, but that did nothing for the trauma that still rose up from time to time...

But she was ANBU too. It had been years and she had proven her worth time and again, shown her skill with a litany of weapons and made her way through a gauntlet of foes to rise to the rank of Chuunin. She had defeated the mutated Spider Hybrids, chased off the would-be Queen... Over and over again the woman had demonstrated talent, skill and resolve. She could do anything... and yet this damn fear of her commander still shook her to her core.

But no more.

Today she would train alongside him and her fellow members of ROOT. As she made her way to the training facility, her heart pounding through her chest, she had to pause for a moment, resting her hand on the door. Why... why am I hesitating? The girl asked herself, her hand tensed on the doorknob but unmoving, as if there was something on the other side of the door holding it still, keeping her from turning the knob. But no, it was in her, the thing that was paralyzing her... It was the knowledge of what, or rather who, was on the other side of the door. She hadn't run into Yoru since that day, having been given all of her orders and missions through the ROOT captain Tenzin.

But she couldn't let that stop her. Closing her eyes for a moment, she heard the sound of a nearby clock ticking away... Back and forth. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Like a metronome on a perfect pace... Before long, the sound of the clock's hands moving along it's face was the only thing she was focused on, the only sensory input she was receiving. And as she focused on it, she looked inward towards her own beating heart... Slowly, as she focused on the clock, her heart beat slowed it's rapid pace, more and more. And eventually, as her breathing slowed and her eyes fluttered slightly, her heart's pace matched the clock's ticks.

Her fear was still present - She wasn't sure she would ever truly outgrow her fear of the man behind the door. But as long as she could calm her heart like this, as long as she could maintain control over her mind and body, she would not fall prey to that fear ever again. As her eyes opened, determination filled her pupils, and with a deep breath she finally managed to turn the door handle and open the door, stepping in to the room beyond.

"Good morning, Yoru-sama. Ibakuro, Aiya, reporting for our training session today."

Takeshi was feeling extremely nervous for his first official ROOT training session. He had been recruited by Tenzen whom had been one of the instructors at the academy. It was hard to believe such a kind man was involved in recruiting children into the black ops organization. He hadn’t even known that a training program existed, he had assumed the elite ANBU guards and special forces operatives were all Jounin chosen for excellent service records. While he had been shown the way into the training facility and given his own room, he had mostly trained by himself, making only passing conversation with anyone else he had seen down in the ANBU headquarters.

He had learned through whispers that the ANBU commander was none other than Aizawa Yoru, the Bannin and former rogue shinobi that had stolen one of the Hyuuga’s Byakugan. This did little to ease his nerves and apprehensions about why he might have been selected. Though the young Hyuuga would arrive promptly all the same, wearing his ROOT attire with his raven black hair tied into a ponytail and his Hankyuu bow holstered across his back. Today he would wear his quiver on his back as well, comfortable drawing either from his hip or back depending on the environment.

Despite his youth, Takeshi was comfortable waking up early, or at least as comfortable as he could be expected to be. He had arrived at 5:30 and waited in his room, warming up lightly and timing it so that he would arrive on schedule exactly on time. Though as he approached the training room he noted the particularly tall woman that he had met in Aroma country. She seemed much taller than even before and it had only been a few months. Was this the competition he was to be compared to. Suddenly he felt even less confident in his ability. He had barely been graduated from the academy for a year and hadn’t even felt ready to participate in the recent exams though he had seen the young woman participate and knew she was in a completely different level than him.

He had trained rigorously since then and had certainly made great strides but his instincts told him that she had improved as well and by at least as much of a margin which meant that he would still be hopelessly outclassed. The young man swallowed and exhaled slowly as he watched her enter the room, there was another behind him as well but he was too nervous to turn around and get a good look at him. So instead, he simply followed after Aiya, moving to the side and bowing deeply. “Hyuuga Takeshi; reporting for training” he said simply, in his head his voice sounded calm and direct but there were certainly hints of nerves as his words came out slightly rushed and he hadn’t even directly looked at Yoru yet or even toward his fellow ROOT members. He had no idea what to expect or what would be expected of him, he only hoped his training thus far was sufficient to keep him worthy of remaining within the training program. He wouldn’t be able to live with the shame if he was kicked out after his first real training session.

Being the newest member member of the rooking branch of ANBU, Noeru was still learning his way around their headquarters. And this place was vast. The entrance was build into the village in a way that your ordinary citizen would not even bat an eye lid at it, let alone believe it is an entrance to an underground headquarters of a secret organization. Noeru moved through the narrow corridors down which lead to an open plan room. It appeared to be a meeting place, judging by it's size and the fact that there was a small platform which one would assume the leader stood on top of while addressing his subjects.

Noeru never knew he was going to be a member of such an organisation. He never tried to become a part of this organisation, how could he? up until recently he had not idea such an organisation had even existed. The village did a good job of keeping these shinobi hidden, and so did the individuals who were in the know. Part of him wondered whether the reason his old man had put him through the training he did was in order to make him more appealing to these kinds of organisation. He did not know, and he was not going to waste his time, or that of his old man to find out. He was here now, and it was time to get to know this place, and to train - soon.

During his year away, he had to become an early rise, hell, most nights he only managed to get a few hours of sleep, if that. The creatures in the forest, and his old man did a great job of keeping him alert even while he was asleep. His acquired alertness got to the point where he would make up at the faintest of noises, ready to fight. Psychologically, a year of this kind of life had placed a detrimental effect on his mental state, but he was turned into a weapon. Ready to fight at a moments notice. And this would be exactly what he was expected to do sooner or later in this organisation. A smile spread across his face as he walked through the corridors of the headquarters. To him, it has been a while since he had fought. While at the forest, fighting was near enough constant, but he has been back for almost a week now, and to him that week of peace was close to a life time.

As far as peace went, it was enjoyable, but he was beginning to miss the savage life he lead in the forest. He hoped that this training session with the leader of ANBU would be enough bring him back to those days and give him a thrill. He was not far from the place he was suppose to report to, and judging from from the time and distance, he would get there just in time. Just how he liked to do things, with perfect timing. He had remembered watching the fight between the Kiri-nin who had broken his jaw and arm and Yoru. He could not remember the details of the fight, but he remembered it was good, and intense. Noeru was really looking forward to testing himself against this man, even if it was along with his squad. It would be good to improve as a team, it would be good to get some sort of practice in working in a squad. So far he had only ever been a member-of a temporary squad in Aroma, during the chuunin exams. This would be completely different, this would be bettr, they would actually be able to work together, and put together strategies to benefit from one another. He was really excited.

Few more minutes of walking, and he arrived at the corridor which would lead him up to the destination. Just as he turned the corner he noticed someone going into the room. ’That’s good…’ knowing that he wouldn’t be the first person to arrive, and hoped that any initial tension in the group would have dissipated by the time he walked in.

And when he arrived, he stopped for a moment before turning the knob and going in. He took a slow deep breath and finally turned the knob, pushing the door open and going inside. He looked around the room and noticed that Aiya and Takeshi were already in there, making him the last person to arrive, as Yoru was looking ready to give them a thrashing. ’Senpai…’ The youth said as he looked at the man stood in the middle, he then looked around the room to get an idea of what they would be doing that day. It was a simple looking sparring room, it was obvious that they would not be doing anything ninjutsu related, not here anyway.

Yoru looked the three members of ROOT over, he didn’t usually deal with ROOT directly himself Tenzin the Anbu Captain dealt with the division. These three shinobi we’re deemed as the best three young shinobi within the village, powerful kekkei genkai that could be used in the name of Anbu to defend the village.

His single hazel eye shifted between the Senju and Ibakuro as they greeted him “Commander.” He said coldly, wanting them to use his full title. If he was honest, he didn’t care at all what people called him but as part of the training he wanted to force his dominance over them.

“From here on out, you three will be working together. Takeshi you are the weakest of the three by far and you’ll need to catch up quickly otherwise your teammates will leave you behind and won’t tolerate that.” He had no interest in keeping weak people within ROOT, he wasn’t even sure if Takeshi would have being brought into ROOT if it wasn’t by request of the Hokage himself.

“To prove how strong you are and how well you will work as a unit, you three will fight me.” A coy smile fell across his face “There will be no bells around my waist for you to collect or paint to dabs of paint to put on my clothes this will be full contact, and you must try your best to kill me. Do not hold back as I won’t and you may die in the process.” He gaze fell upon Aiya, lingering a little longer as he nodded, gesturing to the three that they would begin.

Yoru withdrew two kunai, placing one in each hand and took a stance that would be very familiar to Takeshi it would be incredibly similar to the stance to that of his clan though his leg wasn’t extended quite as much “Begin!”

As the other two shinobi entered the room, Aiya immediately recognized not only Noeru from their fight against the iron giant in the Chuunin exams, but Takeshi - Son of the Hokage himself. Both she had met on one or two occasions, but she wasn't aware either of them were ROOT members. Now here she was on a team with the two... Yoru made clear his title to them, and the cold tone to his voice sent a shiver down Aiya's spine. There was still that fear of who and what he was, what he had done to her in the name of recruitment, and the nightmares she had had of the man ever since. His words towards Takeshi were added fuel to the fire... How could he speak of the Hokage's son like that? This man... he had no limits to who and what he said or did in his position as commander. So ruthless...

She couldn't let his reputation and power intimidate her if she wanted to learn anything from this. But, once again, the man seemed intent on this being a fight against him. "...Just like before..." Aiya muttered aloud to herself, her mind going back to the forest... when she thought Yoru had killed his own blood and was coming for her next. Before he had outclassed her so completely - How was she supposed to compare to him now? How were they supposed to do anything to this man? "Try to kill him"... tch. It was beyond their ability, she wasn't stupid enough to think otherwise.

But she had no choice. It wasn't about her fears of the man anymore, it wasn't about becoming a successful shinobi even. It wasn't even about protecting her own life or bloodline... It was about her comrades now. The moment that Yoru put allies on her side, fellow shinobi that she was to team up with and work together with, her own fears and feelings took the backseat. Even in the face of an insurmountable foe such as Yoru, she couldn't allow herself to be hopeless. Yoru wanted them to come at him as if they intended to kill him. If that was what it took to make sure her comrades got out of this alive, Aiya would do the impossible - she would kill Yoru.

Holding both of her hands out and channeling a small amount of chakra through them, a moment later her bladed tonfas - Shingetsu and Mangetsu - appeared in her hands with a poof of smoke."He means it you two. Kill him." Aiya spoke coldly, punctuating her sentence by spitting a glob of her poisonous saliva onto the edges of each tonfa. She would not let fear rule her; She'd charge at her fear head on and tear him to bloody pieces. With a battle cry, Aiya bolted straight towards the man, gripping the handles of her weapons so tightly that her knuckles turned white. As she rushed him full speed, she jumped forward and extended both of her arms towards Yoru's chest, intent on driving the ends of her blades into the man's chest and twisting them as the dug into his flesh.

Genbu no Ken - A style Aiya created to be brutally efficient, it's focus on extremely close quarters combat made clear by the tonfa being her weapon of choice for the style. However, it was also symbolic for her; to use it properly, she had to be fearless. Reckless. And Yoru would see her push through her fear as she aimed to tear his torso apart.

Takeshi was grateful that he hadn’t addressed the commander directly or improperly as the others had. It seemed keeping things simple and formal had served him well. But it was clear that didn’t mean he was in the commander’s good graces, as it was promptly pointed out that he was the weakest of the group. If they were to be a squad together, he would be expected to at least be Chunin level in order to pull his weight. And judging from Aiya’s physical growth since the last time he saw her, he expected it wouldn’t be long until she was promoted again, if she hadn’t been already. “Understood!” he replied sharply, finally looking up to meet the commander’s gaze. He may have had a personal resentment toward the One-Eyed demon of the Leaf but he was still his commander and he would do everything in his power to fulfil his duties.

The young Hyuuga considered the challenge. He had the small advantage of having seen each of the others fight in Aroma country while he had only been a spectator. However, he had never killed before and while he had sparred with Jounin and Bannin before, he knew his family could never truly convey genuine killing intent toward him. Still, he was well aware that no matter what he did Yoru would be able to counter easily and therefore there was no reason at all to hold back. His concern therefore was only about keeping himself and his teammates safe and being careful not to catch each other in their own crossfire. His mind worked quickly to assess their strengths and weaknesses. Aiya and himself could both readily switch between close and mid range combat while Noeru filled a useful role in mid-range ninjutsu support, creating diversions and restraints so that more direct fighters could land clean blows. Between Aiya’s versatile style and Takeshi’s own tricks and clever tactics, he was sure they had potential to be a strong team. And it was clear that was why they had been chosen.

As Aiya was surely the strongest of the group and the most experienced fighter, it was similarly clear that she would be the team leader and dictate the pacing of the fight. Exhaling slowly, the young Hyuuga reflexively activated his Byakguan as Aiya warned about Yoru’s killing intent and attempted to rally the others. “Got it!” he affirmed, drawing his bow in a smooth motion as well as a pair of arrows, palming one under the other to attempt to hide it from view. Aiya charged forward and Takeshi channelled chakra into each of the arrows. He was surprised that the gigantic woman would make such a direct attack against the notoriously evasive Bannin. But she was fast, and a large force that helped to obscure Takeshi as the small boy notched and drew his arrows in a smooth motion. He would fire them simultaneously, launching through the air with 15 Strength and Speed with one slipping under the first, hiding in its shadow. The second arrow would also have an explosive tag wrapped around the shaft.

But the attack would not be so simple. With his Byakugan Takeshi would attempt to track Yoru, changing the trajectory of the first arrow toward the man as he moved and then the second would follow him as well after he reacted to the first but this one Takeshi would pretend to form a seal to detonate, slinging his bow back in its holster on his back. But instead he would form chakra around his feet and dash in, crossing behind Aiya to slip around to the other side and release a palm strike toward the man, hoping that between Aiya and the arrows it would be a sufficient distraction.
Jutsu UsedShow

Byakugan Doujutsu
One of the most famed doujutsu in the world, Byakugan is the bloodline limit of the Hyuuga Clan. When active, the clan member gains 360 degree vision and Penetrative vision, allowing the Hyuuga clan to see the Tenketsu of their enemies. Their telescopic vision can be activated via jutsu. As such, the Byakugan is capable of ability channeling, allowing the Hyuuga to activate their Doujutsu techniques without hand seals. It should be noted that while using their telescopic vision the Hyuuga experiences tunnel vision, making it difficult to see their surroundings.

Prolonged usage of the Byakugan is strenuous and requires a high level of endurance. The maximum operating time a user can utilize their Byakugan at a time is equal to their Chakra Pool stat divided by 4 rounded down, to a minimum of one post. Upon reaching the max duration, the stress of using their Byakugan to it’s limit causes a cooldown period of 1/2 of the duration time, to a minimum of one post. During this cooldown period, the Byakugan cannot be activated and attempting to do so will cause physical pain. Duration is based off total posts where the Byakugan is activated, meaning users can turn it on and off to have a shorter cooldown.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Tracking]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to read an opponent's movements and adjust their aim accordingly to compensate without penalty. This Discipline allows the practitioner to accurately hit moving targets, though sudden changes in the opponent's movements will still affect accuracy.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Hidden Shot]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
By launching two projectiles, one immediately after the other, the practitioner attempts to create a decoy for the second. The first projectile is often larger or of equal size, and the second projectile is slightly behind and below it, the second projectile hiding in the first projectile's shadow. This masks the second projectile and makes it more difficult for the opponent to completely avoid. Opponents with a Perception technique equal or higher in rank may be able to see both projectiles clearly within a reasonable distance, though they'll still have to properly defend against it.

*Fuuton • Redirection
D-Ranked Fuuton Jutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user covers a projectile they are holding in fuuton empowered wind. Then, when the weapon has been thrown as normal, the user is able to change it's direction by up to 90 degrees once with no drop in momentum on the projectiles part. This technique only lasts one post.

*Fuuton • Wind Skating
D-Ranked Fuuton Jutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user is able to glide on air as if they were skating on ice. This allows them to move faster (+3 speed) but lowers their ability to translate force (-3 Strength). This doesn't allow them to fly, but rather to travel over things like land, water, and ice with greater ease. The user is only held several inches off of the ground. This Jutsu does not expire until the user’s chakra supply runs out or the user shuts it off. The fuuton passive is not applied in this technique.

C-rank Nintaijutsu Maneuver
After channelling chakra into their palm, the user will thrust their palm toward a target. This technique extends the range of their palm thrust by firing off a shell of chakra in the direction of the palm thrust, moving a speed and strength equal to the user’s [Control: 15] moving up to 25 meters.

’Commander.’ Said the man, his tone was deep and serious, showed no sympathy. It was obvious that this was their one and only warning. Noeru was not planning on chancing his life on mere details. ’Understood.’ said the youth offering a bow as he spoke as a way of subtle apology. The commander then went on to explain the details of their due assignment. Instructing them to kill him in order to show him what they could do, individually and as a team. The youth stood patiently a few feet away from Aiya, and a few more from Takeshi. There seemed to be an aura of tension surrounding Aiya, and Noeru began to believe this was not Aiya and Yoru’s first bout. The youth’s dark gaze shifted to the girl towering over them all as she spoke before charging forward. Noeru understood the situation, chancing it was no longer his way of doing things. He also understood that a unit is only as strong as it’s weakest liink - Takeshi.

Being of the Hyuuga clan, it was obvious he had merit, and even more promise. Judging from the commanders speech, so far it was mostly promise. As Aiya charged forward, Noeru would use the distraction to give the little bit of support to Takeshi he could. Regardless of his current abilities, he was a vital part of the unit, and losing him, or anyone, in the field may lead to disastrous outcomes. As the white-eyed youth primed his bow with arrows, Noeru moved towards him at half his true speed. His left index finger radiated blue aura of chakra. Once in range, he would simply tap that same finger on the youths shoulder. In the moment, the accumulated chakra transferred onto the Hyuuga, beginning to envelop him in, wooden, samurai style armour. This would not impact his performance in anyway, it was simple and extra layer of protection, for him and the unit. Realistically, they would all benefit from that technique. But the current situation did not allow that to happen. Now it was Aiya who required support, a straighforward attack may have an effect on someone in their on skill range, but not a seasoned Banin.

Noeru remained in place, his hands came together in-front and suddenly he flashed through a number of seals. Slamming his hands flat against the floor boards. The technique activated, and a moment later roots would spring up from under Yoru in an attempt to immobilise him by wrapping themselves around his legs, and progressing up to prohibit the rest of his body from moving. He’d like to believe that this was enough. Reality was most likely different. They had to think collectively. Not just in terms of their own skills, but as a whole unit. Placing one attack, so that the next may hit. And with the two close ranged combatants moving towards the target. Noeru decided that the best thing for him to do was to hang back. With a few quick steps, he retreated further away from the action, still moving at half his true speed. But laying low, not participating was not in his nature. He was simply getting ready. Giving himself more room, he also made it easier to aim due to the wider angle. And still remaining in good close proximity meant he was unlikely to miss.

He crouched down. Hands close to each other, they burst with the same aura from earlier and he prepared yet another attack, two of the same kind. A few moments later his hands formed into a specific shape, pistol like. In case Yoru decided to evade their attack, Noeru would be ready to fire a long ranged bullet made of wood at the speedy Banin. Knowing well enough the man was one of the fastest shinobi alive, the youth would prioritise speed over power. Changing, and shifting his chakra in way which would allow for maximum attainable speed in his right, and keeping it normal in his left. Then his right arm began to rest on his right knee as he awaited an opening in the their attack, or Yoru’s own. Ready to activate his technique, Noeru remained patient as he awited for the events of their initial onslaught to turn out, hopefully ideally. However he did not hold his hopes high. This was their first time working together, ish. Where as the Banin had years more experience over them. Knowledge of that had made the situation all the more interesting. This was a true test for him and the unit. His body remained calm, and he paid attention to the strain that was being placed on it. He had to remain in top condition, resting when he could, so that when the time came, he would be able to move at maximum speed.

Yoru’s single hazel eye darted between the three young members of Anbu watching them carefully, the crown on his head ringing through his mind hearing all of their thoughts. It was clear Aiya was terrified of him. There was nothing but detested and hatred from the young Hyuuga and he was surprised the Senju seemed to have ascertained that both Yoru and Aiya had fought before. However before the fight began he decided not to use the crown, taking it off his head and placing it within is haori.

If he could read their minds it would be to unfair, he knew that the only way they could over come him would be use unconventional tactics. Once the crown was away he’d withdraw his kunai again. Behind them Nobu, Yoru’s younger brother and subordinate would slam the metal doors behind them locking them within the sparring room. It would be loud and clunky, clear that they we’re trapped.

This was mostly for effect, but he wanted to instil some kind of fear in them.

An arrow came towards him from the Hyuuga. Yoru flung a kunai through the air striking the first arrow with enough force to project it backwards towards Takeshi and the Senju who seemed to be edging closer, as though going to use some jutsu on his ally of some kind. This arrow would likely stop this from happening, if the pair didn’t move, they would be struck by the arrow for sure.

His gaze tracked the Senju, flinging the second kunai in his hand rotating his shoulder as he went the kunai spun through the air with veracious speed tracking the Noreu’s movements aiming directly towards Noeru’s hands, hopefully in turn disrupting his series of jutsu. He hoped the kunai would either damage his hands and prevent him from weaving seals or if he moved his hands out of the way it would rip through his chest and out the other side.

It was clear Yoru was not holding back. He planned to hurt them.

One thing however caught Yoru by surprise was the second arrow came hurtling towards him, hiding under the first. He edged his fingers forward towards the arrow plucking it from the air with ease, his eye widened as shocked that there was an explosive tag attached to it.

Clever he thought.

At the same time Aiya wasted no time at all, springing into action as she moved closer it hadn’t dawned on him how physically large, she had got until just now, her frame hulking and huge her physically impressive. She was fast, but not fast enough.

He moved with his full fifty speed, contorting his body twisting himself around so his chest was not where she was originally aiming, from his lowered position he would attempt to stab the tagged arrow deep between her ribs twisting it and snapping it off at the same time. Even though he said he was going to go all out, he made sure to avoid anything vital but would make sure to cause her pain.

If Takeshi we’re to kai the tag he would hurt Yoru but would also hurt his ally. He pondered if the young man was capable of such a heinous act.

Though perhaps it wouldn’t matter, the boy had darted at full speed towards him making it even less likely he’d kai the arrow though it was still a possibility.

A smile spread across his facing, knowing the familiar stance of the Hyuuga. Yoru replicated the stance of the clan, spinning on the spot as chakra flood from his tenketsu creating a teal coloured orb that would both defend against the strike and hopefully knock back the two members of ROOT who had got in close.

[Flawless Aim Style • What’s Yours is Mine]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: Perception
The user is able to perceive a flight path of a projectile and can throw their own projectile to meet, to know exactly where to strike, if it is equal or lower in strength, it will knock the projectile off it’s path and send it back directly to the target at the speed it came. This will often catch an opponent of guard. However if the strength of the incoming projectile is higher, this will not work in the same way, though it will redirected away from the target.

[Flawless Aim Style • Safe Hands]
B-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: Deft Hands, Perception & 15 Speed
The user has an extensive knowledge on ninja tools and how they are used and where is safe to touch them. When a projectile is coming towards them, the user can predict the flight path of the tool and safely pluck the weapon out of the air, as long as their speed is equal or higher than the strength it is thrown at.

**Used on Noreru**
*[Flawless Aim Style • Tracking]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to read an opponent's movements and adjust their aim accordingly to compensate without penalty. This Discipline allows the practitioner to accurately hit moving targets, though sudden changes in the opponent's movements will still affect accuracy.

[Flawless Aim Style • Drilling Shot] – 39 Speed & Strength
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 30 Endurance
When throwing a projectile, the user will focus their entire energy into a throw, torqueing their arm and rotating it by the shoulder, the projectile will spin in the air with +9 Strength, if the tool hits an opponent rather than stabbing into them and stopping in its tracks, due to the rotation the tool will rotate through the air like a drill and will rip through flesh and come through the other side with ease. If the user does not meet the endurance check, their shoulder will pop out of place.

**Used with Aiya**
Taijutsu • Contortionist
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: [Acrobatics
The user is a contortionist allowing them to move and manipulate their body and joints much further than normal. Allowing them to pass through smaller gaps, move in peculiar ways, get into unexpected vantage points and makes their bones more difficult to break, at least when it comes to joint manipulation.

*Ochiba • Spare Ribs - *Adapted with the Arrow in hand*
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
A simple, yet effective strike. Often used in correlation with Ochiba • Oaken Defense, however not required. The user simply needs to be up close, they will swing their kunai in a horizontal motion towards their opponent's rib cage, aiming for the cavities between the ribs and damaging any organ behind it. The user will then turn the kunai, breaking the rib if their strength is 5 higher than the opponents and even has a chance of separating it entirely from the rib cage.

**Used with Takeshi**
C-rank Nintaijutsu Maneuver - 30 Control
The user will channel chakra through all of their tenketsu within their body, the user will pirouette in place. This will create an orb of chakra, up to 5 meters, to expand from their body with a strength and speed equal to the users [control], pushing any incoming projectiles, ninjutsu or opponents. This technique lasts for 2 posts.

As the door was shut behind them, that momentary fear of the man she was fighting crept into her mind once again, but the charge against Yoru quickly pushed it away again. However, much to her discredit as a leader, Aiya hadn't even considered the movements of Takeshi and Noeru, and no doubt that would cost all of them... Takeshi's arrows had little effect on the Bannin, as one was sent back towards the Hyuuga while the other was caught by Yoru. As for Noeru, she wasn't sure how he'd deal with that blinding Kunai that was thrown at him, but she could only hope that it wouldn't take his head clean off of his body. Plus, as the bannin's blinding speed made clear, Aiya would have her own issues to deal with...

Just as she was sure her blades were about to land in the man's chest, in a flash of movement, he wasn't there anymore. Even with her incredible senses, she couldn't tell where he had moved to until she felt the familiar sting of pain digging through her chest. She was used to pain, she didn't have a problem with that, but knowing that there was an arrow embedded in her side... that would cause problems for her moving forward if she didn't handle it. The sudden burst from Yoru's rotation sent Aiya hurtling back towards one of the walls of the training facility, her back hitting with impressive force as she let out a grunt of pain, sliding down the wall to her butt and dropping her tonfas by her side with a loud clatter.

As she forced herself back to her feet, her hand moved towards the arrow embedded in her side, giving it a few tugs to see how bad the damage was. And, surprisingly, it didn't actually bleed that much - Yoru hadn't hit any of her organs. Given the man's skill and power, she had to assume he had missed a lethal blow on purpose... That didn't mean it didn't hurt though. And any kind of strenuous movement would only make things worse... It had to come out. Through grit teeth, Aiya's right hand wrapped tightly around the shaft of the arrows, turning it inside of her chest this way and that to feel for the best path to take here. When she did finally find what she thought was the path of least resistance, Aiya took in a few deep, rapid breaths to brace for what was to come.

Then, with a quick yank, the arrowhead was pulled out of her body with a disturbing 'squelch' sound, and a single tear ran down Aiya's cheek as the pain registered. Tossing the arrowhead to the side with a clatter, Aiya would bend down to grab Shingetsu and Mangetsu, allowing them to poof away with another use of Kai, only to be replaced by her sword and shield - Onikiri and the Yata no Kagami. "He's too good at using ranged weapons against us. We can't give him any more tools to hurt us with." She knew that Takeshi was an archer first and foremost, but hopefully his infamous clan skills would assist in dealing with Yoru. After all, for better or worse, the two shared an eye.

Aiya would rush forward towards Yoru again, this time with a bit more caution as she aimed to ram her shield into him first, and if the bash landed, she'd follow up with a swift lunge of her sword aimed for the man's stomach. All the while though, she made sure to focus on protecting herself first and foremost - She couldn't afford to get stabbed the entire time she was training here.

Pulling Roots

Takeshi’s mind raced. He had received extensive tactical training from his father and older brother. With his Byakugan he could keep aware of his surroundings with remarkable precision and that meant it was his duty to be aware of his comrades’ actions and coordinate effectively. His priority was working as a cohesive unit as he had been trained. This fight wasn’t about him, and especially as he was considered the weakest combatant, he had to make up for it with tactics. His Fuuton coating would divert the arrow that had been deflected back, aiming harmlessly into the wall and protecting himself and his teammate. If Aiya hadn’t rushed in, or had the good sense to recognize the explosive tag and fall back he could have detonated it when Yoru snatched it out of the air. But alas it was too risky, but nonetheless, it was an effective diversion. Noeru had granted him a layer of Mokuton armor and he silently appreciated his comrade's keen ability to work as a team. The two were already displaying a natural synergy in protecting one another and setting up their attacks.

Though as Takeshi dashed in to close in on Yoru as Noeru attempted to bind him, the young Hyuuga wouldn’t be able to assist the Senju against the powerful kunai toss that hurtled towards him. Instead, he did only what he could. Take advantage of the opening and deliver a powerful void palm strike, keeping back a distance of about 5 meters. Though he was somewhat surprised at Yoru’s ability to utilize rotation, creating a sphere of chakra that knocked him and Aiya back. Guarding, he flew through the air. The armor took the brunt of the impact and he was able to twist in the air and get his wind-coated feet under him, skating along the wall as he hovered above the surface. Quickly, he scanned for the explosive tag, honing in on the slight bit of his own chakra contained within. Breaking the arrow had been a small slip up, causing only the upper portion of the shaft and tip to embed in Aiya and the tag to fall free, within the swirling chakra. With a handseal, Takeshi would now detonate the tag, hoping to catch Yoru with the explosion that was within his vortex. Surely, his chakra would dampen it, but it was more likely to trap the explosion in and deal a surprise attack.

His mind raced, watching Aiya attempt to rip the arrow out. “Leave it!” he called out. Any bowhunter knew that pulling an arrowhead out backward was the quickest way to cause an animal to bleed out. Instead, it had to either be surgically removed or pushed all the way through the wound and snipped off on the other side. The trauma of the shape of an arrowhead being ripped backward was far greater than any normal wound. “Noeru, status report!” he called out, unable to discern if the boy had managed to get his own armor up in time or otherwise defend against the kunai fully. His explosion would have hopefully bought them at least a few moments to properly regroup and coordinate. But instead Aiya simply rushed back in and told the boys not to utilize their ranged skills, eliminating their greatest strengths.

Takeshi grit his teeth in frustration, everything was going to hell, and it was clear that Aiya wasn’t the leader he thought she was. The only reason projectiles were so difficult to use was because she kept rushing in carelessly, not even bothering to consider her teammate's strengths and weaknesses and instead trying to fight entirely on her own. It would be difficult to protect her from herself, and as the weakest member, it was ironic that his biggest concern was trying to keep the alleged strongest safe from her own recklessness. Instead, he would have to do what he could with the one member that showed a strong instinct towards teamwork. Dashing toward the Senju he considered a new tactic. “Your thorns, wrap them on me. I’m going in” he said, speaking quickly and in a hushed tone. He had witnessed the boy’s ability to manipulate thorns in the match against Proximus. Instead of trying to hit Yoru directly, if he could use himself as a medium then all he had to do was get close and any exchange of blows would provide Noeru an opportunity. And with the favored method of rotation it was an ideal set up.

Assuming Noeru was able to, Takeshi would dash in to support Aiya. If Yoru had maintained his rotation then it would be foolish to get too close and he would keep out of range of the technique and wait for an opportunity to time his attacks with Aiya’s and strike when Yoru was making contact with her. As soon as there was a clear opening he would dash in and enter his stance before delivering a blindingly quick series of strikes, at least relative to him. He didn’t expect any of his 64 palm strikes to land but they were simply a distraction to force Yoru to either focus on evading and increase Aiya’s chance of success or encourage another rotation, that would allow Noeru’s thorns to spread into the sphere of chakra and wrap Yoru up. Either way his efforts would enhance the chances of his teammates without putting himself in immediate danger either. His planning under pressure was good in theory but he knew that against a Bannin they were simply outclassed and nothing they did would truly grant them a win but that didn’t stop him from attempting to put forth the best effort they could. Especially as it seemed that Yoru was quite serious about inflicting bodily harm. If they were too reckless or slacked off he really would kill them for their weakness and failure. Such nerves filled him with adrenaline, but he fought against it as best he could to keep his mind racing and planning, his Byakugan having to focus more on Yoru now when he made his attack, but otherwise being used to constantly check his teammates positions and coordinate accordingly.

~Jyuuken :: Eight Divination Signs Sixty Four Palms of the Hand
B-rank Nintaijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: ~Jyuuken :: Eight Divination Signs 32 Palms of the Hand
A weaker form of Jyuuken’s Ougi, this technique combines a sharp mental image with precise strikes. The user first envisions the symbol of the eight trigrams on the ground beneath them to gauge the distance between themselves and the target with the aid of the Byakugan. The master of this technique then channels chakra into their hands and dashes in to engage with the opponent. Using their calculations and precise strikes, the user will then swiftly perform a combination of blows equalling 64 in number; each blow closing a tenketsu point. This technique causes widespread damage to internal tissues, rupturing several blood vessels and tearing muscle tissues; while the closed tenketsu reduces the target’s Control by 6 for 8 posts.

To say that they were outclassed was under and understatement. The speed displayed by their commander was amazing, and frightening at the same time. Pride and joy is what he felt knowing that he had the opportunity to serve under him. Now however was not the time to be emotional. Noeru successfully made contact with Takeshi, coating the youth in a layer of Mokuton. He fired an arrow, two actually, but one was quickly returned with a flick of a kunai from Yoru. Not only that, but that Kunai was then accompanied by another, aimed at Noeru.

The previous sequence of events came to a halt the moment Takeshis arrow was sent hurling back towards them, it was thanks to the chakra coating the arrow was diverted away from them. The kunai heading for Noeru had to be dealt with in another way. He was not expecting that he would have to use his maximum speed so soon into the fight. Utilising his whole body, he turned on his own axis by twisting on the balls of his to and leaning away from the kunai just in time to allow it to graze past his chest. But due to the high speed rotation of the kunai, it was not a simple cut that was the result. The kunai ripped a small chunk of flesh away from his body, however it was not something he could not handle. Vigilance was a key aspect of his future decisions from now on.

Now was the time to return to an offensive. But sitting ducks were the ones that got shot first, and so he had to get a move on. Reducing his speed back to its previous half, to conserve his energy but to also allow him to concentrate on developing his own armour. If he had this armour on previously, he would not be missing a chunk of flesh out of his chest. Thanks to Aiya and Takeshis attacks, he had enough time to perform hand seals and allow the armour to coat his body. As it did so, he watched as their commander had released a giant ball of chakra in order to counter their attacks, sending the two flying backwards, Aiya had an arrow wedged between her ribs, and Takeshi took the full force of the spiralling ball. Hopefully it was not enough to completely rip the armour of the youth.

’No major issues here. Stay vigilant, and get Aiya to co-operate… If that’s possible.’ Noeru said in response to Takeshi’s inquiry. The young Hyuuga might lack skill for the moment, but his spirit and will to contribute to the team was enough to keep the cogs of the bout turning. Noeru was eager to see how the youth would turn out in the future - at this pace the youth would be their equal in not so long.

Noeru let out a small chuckle as the youth appeared to have come up with some sort of a tactic, requesting to be wrapped in wooden bindings as he was headed towards their commander. Noeru then understood what Takeshi was planning on doing, hopefully Aiya had managed to keep Yoru preoccupied enough for him not to realise. Noeru waved another string of hand seals, a ring of throrns had surrounded him and grow up to his ankles. Next, noeru extended his arm, pointing at the runnig Hyuuga, the thorns would then extend towards him and wrap around his arms where they would remain dormant until Noeru had directed them otherwise. The ring around him had began to spread outwards and up, almost like an actual shrub growing to acquire as much room as possible.

Now it was all about timing. Noeru kept a close eye on Takeshi, the aim of the game was trickery, and trickery was all about timing. Takeshi was leading the attack and Noeru sat back and awaited the youth to come close enough for his wooden thorns to transfer from him onto Yoru where they would spread out across all his limbs, immobilising him.

As all of this was happening, the thorns around Noeru had continued to grow. The more he had to utilise, the more he would be able to do with them when the time came. They would grow up and around Noeru, forming a sort of cocoon around him as a form of defense. They would also spread out across the room, to cover as much ground as they could. Above ground, and underground, or under the floorboards at least. Over ground they would simply continue to spread out at a steady pace, but underground they headed directly for where the action was happening, directly at Yoru. Hopefully the initial attack would be enough, but if it was not, then hopefully Noeru secondary attack would capture him. The moment Takeshi would commence his strikes, the throsn around his forearms would jump onto Yoru, hopefully binding him.

Yoru’s single hazel eye widened as the tag that was wrapped around his chakra went off, luckily it was stuck within the chakra and it was powerful enough to keep it at bay but the flames we’re engulfed around the orb making it incredibly hot and keeping the kinetic energy trapped in almost knocking Yoru off his pivot and out of balance.

The trio we’re much stronger that Yoru had given him credit for, he was somewhat in a pickle and without his crown he couldn’t read their minds like he usually would making it much harder for him to analysis the situation.

Dropping the orb for a moment he looked around the room watching what each of them we’re doing, Aiya seemed to continue forward on her forward momentum. It was clear she was still filled with fear making her fight a lot less tactically that she could. With her shield up, attempting to complete a bash he withdrew a kunai stepping back lowering himself and coming round the back of the huge spider like woman, he moved as though he was a blur invisible even to Takeshi’s all seeing eye, slicing up her back. Normally he’d strike against the spine, but he knew it could be a life crippling injury and he had no true intention of hurting them, least not to that level. He however moved the blade to the left striking upwards in an attempt to simply cause a flesh wound. He’d put his foot on her back and kick her out of the way.

Takeshi bounded forward again, this time covered in both wood armour and thorn. The byakugan bulging out of his face, almost tempting Yoru to pluck it out from his head. It was difficult for him to contain himself, he had always idolised the eye and would love to add to his collection. Though he couldn’t do it again, his relationship with the village would be over for good for sure.

As great as Takeshi was, Yoru was simply too fast moving at his full speed weaving in and out of the separate sixty four strikes moving in ridiculous and almost impossible positions. He knew this was his chance to take advantage of the Takeshi’s sight as he weaved a flurry of seals all whilst moving his speed would be diminished for sure but still quick enough to avoid the techniques. Once the seal’s we’re complete he’d shake his head, hoping all three would see it but he was confident Takeshi would see it.

“Help me Takeshi!” Yoru yelled out as he leaped backwards pointing at the Senju, as he tried to avoid the wood that was moving towards him in the cramped room which was now backing him up against the wall. As it moved closer and closer.

He hoped that the three would now begin to fight amongst themselves, though the jutsu wasn’t so cut and dry it varied from person to person.

As Aiya charged forward, it became clear quite quickly that she just wasn't going to be able to outspeed Yoru... damn it all, the man was just too fast. As she missed however, she anticipated a counter attack of some kind, and figured the only way to truly keep herself in the game was to manifest the spider within - As if on queue, her skin would darken and her hair would fall out of her skull, allowing several eyes to spawn along her head. Her armor, chitinous and strong, manifested along her body just as the man's kunai dragged up her spine, protecting her from the worst of the damage but by no means all of it. Even at her strongest, that knife of his slid through her armor and flesh like a hot knife through butter. Aiya hissed against her teeth as the blade dug in, her multiple arms emerging from her sides as the man's foot landed against her back, sending her sprawling forward.

Luckily, over the clatter of her own weapons hitting the ground and her focus on the pain in her back, her attention wasn't on Yoru as the man cast his genjutsu - She didn't see him shake his head, even with her many eyes. However, she did hear the man ask for help from, of all people, Takeshi... what? Why on earth would he ask that of his perceived enemy? Unless there was some kind of ruse or manipulation at play. Or he was just messing with them, taunting them or something of that nature. She couldn't be sure yet. But what she did realize was a simple, but painful fact... Aiya was an utter failure right now. Not in the sense of her physical abilities, she was simply outpaced by Yoru and knew that before the bout had even begun. But as a senior shinobi, as a leader, she was letting her fear get the best of her. She went from being afraid to fight him to charging him with reckless abandon - from a complete flight response to a complete fight response.

As in all things, a balance was required. And if she didn't reach it, they'd never come close to doing anything against Yoru.

First, the woman would turn to ascertain the conditions of his allies. She had blinded herself to their actions and their movements, and tried to take control of the fight in a way that was, frankly, not playing to the group's strengths. Takeshi was an archer, and Noeru focused heavily on ranged ninjutsu. To deny them their strengths for the sake of her own was selfish and counter productive. Aiya's shield and sword would dissipate in a poof of smoke, and in it's place she'd have a grouping of five kunai in one hand, and her spear in another. "Noeru, Takeshi, don't be afraid to use the range but be sporadic and crafty. He's already demonstrated he can catch them - Don't give him the chance!"

As Aiya spoke, blue chakra would engulf her body and flow into one of the stone kunai in her hand as she chucked them all towards Yoru at once, ensuring that the glowing kunai was carefully hidden underneath the shadow of one of the regular kunai. All five were aimed for his location, but the hope was that he either wouldn't notice the ninjutsu infused kunai, or if he did, he would try to catch it. Once it was close, she'd make sure the man was clear of her allies before aiming to detonate the kunai near him. This was the balance she would need to strike - Cautious, but offensive, and most importantly attentive to her allies and their movements.

616/550 for Willpower Training
JutsuShow
Explosion is 10 strength, kunai are being thrown at 25 strength -4 for the "Many Fangs" jutsu

[Doton • Shrapnel Shot]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
Aiya will perform a series of hand seals, funneling chakra within a projectile made of stone, such as her arrows or a weapon created by Doton. Then, after firing the projectile, a single hand seal after the fact will cause the projectile to explode. This will shower the area within 5 meters of the projectile with rocky shrapnel, propelled with strength equal to Aiya's [Control].

[Seiryu no Kiba • Draconic Predictions]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to read an opponent's movements and adjust their aim accordingly to compensate without penalty. This Discipline allows the practitioner to accurately hit moving targets, though sudden changes in the opponent's movements will still affect accuracy.

[Seiryu no Kiba • Many Fangs]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Preparing multiple projectiles, the practitioner launches each of the projectiles at one or more targets. For each target beyond the first, the accuracy of each of the attacks is decreased, suffering a -1 Strength penalty for each additional target.

[Seiryu no Kiba • Dragon's Shadow]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
By launching two projectiles, one immediately after the other, the practitioner attempts to create a decoy for the second. The first projectile is often larger or of equal size, and the second projectile is slightly behind and below it, the second projectile hiding in the first projectile's shadow. This masks the second projectile and makes it more difficult for the opponent to completely avoid. Opponents with a Perception technique equal or higher in rank may be able to see both projectiles clearly within a reasonable distance, though they'll still have to properly defend against it.

Pulling Roots

Post by Izanagi » Fri Mar 18, 2022 10:22 pm

Takeshi noted Noeru’s response, appreciating his clear commentary. Noeru would be a valuable partner, they had met before in Aroma country, all three of them had in fact. Takeshi would have never imagined they would all end up in ROOT together or that the Senju would become so reliable. Aiya too, being the physical powerhouse of the team had the potential to be a remarkable asset once they improved their coordination, whereas Takeshi could shift to fill either role, additional close-range offense, mid range offense or some small support roles to keep the cogs turning and make the most of his ally’s skillsets. His Byakugan made him ideal for tactical evaluation filling the gaps. “Got it!” he affirmed to his Senpai, he was junior in rank and age to both Noeru and Aiya after all.

Commencing his attack on the ANBU commander, it was no surprise that Yoru was able to evade each of his strikes, moving so swiftly and effortlessly that it was clear he was leagues above him. It affirmed the idea that if one was fast enough and a master of evasion they didn’t really need too many defensive techniques. Though Aiya had been injured again, another wound that could have been easily fatal. It seemed Yoru was punishing her for her lack of coordination with her teammates. There was no doubt that if he wanted to he could inflict similar injuries upon Takeshi, even with the armor and the deterrent of the thorns extending toward him, it was clear his speed alone could deliver enough slashes to break away the armor before a proper counter could be mounted. Though if Aiya had stayed back long enough it was likely she could have had her own set of armor by now as well.

Of course, the young Hyuuga was caught in the genjutsu. Being able to see everything around him came with its weaknesses and both sensory and visual genjutsu were extremely effective against him. Takeshi furrowed his brow, confused why the commander asked for his help. He had no love for the man, even if his older brother considered him an uncle, Takeshi hardly knew him. Apparently he had been around somewhat when he was a young child but the stain of his reputation soured any potentially fond memories and he knew him only as the former traitor that had stolen a Byakguan. However, the words did give him pause as he looked to his allies and wondered what it was they were really doing. Were they helping Yoru, was Aiya sabotaging this training as some sort of deeper test. Takeshi leaped backward to try to collect himself. Inadvertently this slowed the wood that extended from his body, though that hadn’t been his intent.

His suspicions only grew as suddenly Aiya changed her mind, saying they should use projectiles now if they were careful. “Whose side are you on Senpai? You tell us not to use projectiles when you’re close to him then do it yourself when It’s my turn to press the attack?” he snapped out, in an uncharacteristic burst of anger and defiance from the ordinarily composed and tactical young man. Shaking his head he tried to purge the thoughts from his mind. This wasn’t like him, now he was the one creating an issue with teamwork. Logically he knew they had to work together to take him down but was the real test about discovering there was a traitor among them? It couldn’t be Noeru, even in his clouded mind he had no reason to suspect him but certainly Aiya had already made some questionable decisions. Enough to fuel the genjutsu in his mind to doubting her loyalties. Nonetheless Takeshi would dash away from Yoru and move back to Noeru’s side. If Aiya wanted to fight with ranged weapons, she could do it alone until he got his head back on straight.
