How strange- Taiga was a Senju and at one point he had sworn he even had a plethora of Mokuton techniques… and yet, whenever he moved his hands nothing happened and his memories seemed like distant dreams, retconned by some strange group of men behind a device who decided the fates of the universe. And yet, today, as he woke up, as if the men had changed their mind on the decision, Taiga suddenly found a piece of wood sprouting from his shoulder.
Vaguely he had a memory of the feeling, but he needed to immerse himself in the profound knowledge of Mokuton techniques in his families home. Taiga tirelessly studied ancient scrolls and manuscripts, absorbing the wisdom of previous masters. He delved deep into the secrets of wood manipulation, honing his understanding of the intricate balance between chakra control and the power of nature.
Taiga, a man named after a biome rich with conifer trees, had an affinity for pine trees and this there was only one obvious way to try his new toy. With his vision clear, Taiga began experimenting with the delicate art of shaping chakra-infused pinecones. He spent countless hours practicing his chakra control, meticulously molding the natural energy within him to fuse with the pinecones. Gradually, he developed the ability to create baseball-sized pinecones in the palm of his hand.
The next phase of his training involved imbuing these pinecones with volatile chakra energy. Taiga poured his determination and focus into each creation, charging them with a controlled explosion waiting to be unleashed. The process was intricate, requiring precise manipulation of chakra flow to prevent premature detonation.
Taiga understood the inherent dangers of his technique and sought to make it even more formidable. He implemented a safeguard to ensure that the Mokuton Boomcone would only explode upon his command or when subjected to a forceful impact. This additional layer of control not only added versatility but also minimized the risk of accidental detonation.
Well, it also wasn’t like he hadn’t done this before. With a smile Taiga held his new creation in his hand, the beautiful Mokuton Boomcone. Creating a stone wall to test the explosive in he tossed it and covered his ears, as it exploded. It worked exactly as he wanted. With a single gesture, he could unleash a flurry of deadly pinecone shrapnel, wreaking havoc upon his adversaries.
Boy had it felt great to be a Senju.

In his early twenties, Taiga had already earned legendary status as a skilled shinobi. Though accomplished, he yearned for continuous growth and sought to expand his repertoire of techniques. With determination in his heart, he set out to train in the Mokuton Armornut, a unique D-rank Mokuton Ninjutsu with his freshly returned Mokuton abilities.
As always, Taiga consulted the texts of his clan. It wasn’t overly complicated and he had always felt like he had previously learned this, so oddly enough, it wasn’t that big of a challenge. With the basics in mind, he pondered the capabilities of Mokuton. Taiga had always been interested in the resilience of tree nuts, specifically the hard wallnut. Its sturdy shell and natural properties intrigued him, and he envisioned a technique that would combine its protective qualities with the power of Mokuton. With a clear vision in mind, he embarked on crafting the Armornut.
Drawing upon his refined chakra control, Taiga manifested a baseball-sized walnut within the palm of his hand. This walnut possessed a strength proportionate to his precise control over the technique. Every detail was meticulously sculpted, ensuring the nut's potential would be fully realized.
In order to bring his vision to life, Taiga sought to imbue the walnut with a dynamic aspect. By infusing it with his chakra and activating the Kai, he would unleash its true potential. In a burst of energy, the nut would expand at an astonishing speed, transforming into a segmented plat armor made of the walnut shell.
The resulting armor provided comprehensive protection, encasing the wielder entirely, save for eyeholes. Taiga's careful calculations ensured that the armor maintained its integrity while allowing for free movement, striking a perfect balance between defense and mobility.
With his training underway, Taiga dedicated himself to mastering the Mokuton Armornut. He practiced tirelessly, honing his chakra control to execute the technique flawlessly. His focus extended beyond the mere creation of the armor; he sought to perfect its deployment, timing, and integration into his combat style. The deployable armor would be a skill not only to protect him, but it could be a skill useful in protecting others. Giving someone a portable nut and telling them to save it till the last moment had meant a lot.
Scratching his chin, he gave it a go after his twelth revision. The nut expanded and took shape with his kai, having given it some time and waited to let it become stronger. He punched at the armor- it was solid.

With utmost concentration, Taiga tapped into his profound understanding of wood manipulation. Harnessing his chakra, he willed the manifestation of a full-sized wooden dummy in his likeness. His control over the technique determined the speed at which the wooden replica materialized, ensuring its creation was swift and seamless. He made sure to get all the details right, even the bulges. Everything had to be in the right place.
Within a blink of an eye, a perfect replica of Taiga stood before him, its wooden form mirroring his every feature. The dummy, devoid of chakra, remained inert, lacking the inherent strength and growth potential associated with Mokuton techniques. However, its resemblance to Taiga was so uncanny that it could easily deceive any onlooker. In truth he never intended it to be perfect or a clone, or anything. He just intended a “him” to exist that could be used for shenanigans.
With the technique's initial creation complete, Taiga turned his attention to honing his skills. He engaged in rigorous practice, testing the limits of his control and precision. Each movement and gesture were mirrored flawlessly by the wooden dummy, allowing Taiga to assess his own form and technique with unparalleled clarity.
Phasing into it he tried to become one and merge with the dummy, moving it. He was able to “let go” when he needed to. It was great. he even found out it made a perfect kawarimi target. He just had to give it a good name. But what to call it? Wood Mirror? Wood Puppet? Wood man? Wood self? He was really unsure of what to call it. It was difficult. Finally, he thought about the only thing he could. He should name it Wooden Dummy.
Wait, would that be inferring he was stupid? A massive frog face worthy of Orius zangdood filled the air. But really it was important. Throughout the day, Taiga engaged in intensive training sessions with the Wooden Dummy technique. He had even thought of another interesting way to use it. They became best friends. At one point, their hands accidentally touch. Taiga blushed, was he falling for an inanimate wooden dummy of himself?
Man, the world was weird. Purging the impure thoughts from his head he exploded the wooden dummy and called it a day. If the dummy was good enough for him to fall in love with it was good enough to fool some people out in the real world. Technique mastered.

Bramblepatch TrainingShow
There was a unique power in what most considered to be "child's play" jutsu. Often in combat Taiga had found in all his years that simple techniques were often the most effective. Still working on his collection of mokuton techniques Taiga had an epiphany moment when on the toilet one day. Remembering to wash his hands, he’d quickly get to work once hed finished his duties.
With a mischievous glint in his eye, Taiga set out to unleash this D-Rank ninjutsu upon the unsuspecting world. He stomped his foot on the ground, causing the earth to tremble beneath him. Suddenly, with a burst of energy, roots sprouted forth at an impressive speed, creating a chaotic tangle of vegetation in a 15-meter radius. This was cool and he could easily see folks being entangled in the rising roots.
The roots, like enthusiastic tendrils, pushed out of the ground with an almost exaggerated force, impaling whatever dared to stand in their way. Taiga couldn't help but chuckle as he watched his opponents desperately try to evade the onslaught of his plant-based assault. The opponent being the mokuton dummy techniques he had earlier created.
These mischievous roots, oblivious to their surroundings, grew rapidly, each reaching a whopping length of 10 meters. It was as if they were stretching out to touch the sky itself, with a base diameter of 20 centimeters that gradually tapered to a sharp point at their end. Oh, how they pranced and danced, eager to poke, prod, and tease anyone who dared to cross their path. He even realized he could cast this technique carefree a top it- he’d be fine. It’d never injure him.
The kicker though was as mokuton, the roots had a lifespan of their own, growing and thriving for some time before their energy waned, and they became chakra inert. Taiga couldn't help but find the whole situation hilarious—imagining his opponents frantically trying to escape the relentless pursuit of his overgrown, but ultimately temporary, plant minions. But he also realized this would be the true strength of a bramblepatch. TO simply cast it outright would be a waste.
He worked hard to incorporate an activation mechanic. He’d let the roots grow and sow their place beneath the earth. When they were worthy, he’d use them. It was a simple but effective idea that still had an escape hatch for him to strike while the iron was hot if need be. Content with the technique, he’d call it quits.

Taiga would continue learning Mokuton underneath the tutelage of Shou. Finding solace in a tranquil training ground, Taiga scanned his surroundings for a suitable wooden construct. His keen eyes settled upon a sturdy tree branch, lying amidst the verdant landscape. It seemed to beckon to him, whispering promises of growth and transformation. Uncle Shou had told him about the ability to strengthen existing wood- an extremely underrated technique even among the Senju. Better yet, he had told Taiga about how one could accelerate growth.
Positioning himself next to the branch, Taiga extended his hand towards it. He could feel the latent life force within the wood, waiting to be awakened. Focusing his chakra, he channeled the energy through his fingertips and into the waiting branch. It was a beautiful sensation. He closed his eyes.
A surge of warmth coursed through Taiga's veins as his chakra intertwined with the essence of the wood. He visualized the energy infusing the branch, coaxing it to awaken from its dormant state. Slowly, he felt a subtle shift, a faint stirring of growth. With unwavering determination, Taiga continued to pour his chakra into the wooden construct. He could sense the tiny tendrils of life spreading within, as if the branch was responding to his guidance. The once-slumbering wood began to pulse with newfound vitality.
Minute by minute, Taiga observed as the branch underwent a remarkable transformation. Buds formed along its surface, unfurling into delicate leaves. The wood seemed to stretch and expand, embracing the gift of growth that Taiga had bestowed upon it.
As the training session progressed, Taiga's understanding deepened. He discovered the nuances of chakra control required to influence the growth process, adjusting the flow of energy to guide the branch's development. Through trial and error, he honed his skills, perfecting the art of nurturing the wooden construct.
After trial and error Taiga had managed to get the swing of it down. The once-dormant branch now stood as a testament to his newfound mastery of the Mokuton Growth technique. It had blossomed into a flourishing tree, leaves rustling with vitality and branches reaching towards the sky. IT had gotten much longer, much thicker. A real good ole natural tree enhancement.
With a contented smile, Taiga left the training grounds knowing that he had the ability to make the worlds trees better. Or something like that. It also meant he could use his Mokuton's full potential quick.

What if you could make a dog made of wood? These were the questions Taiga had. Choosing a secluded forest as his training ground, Taiga ventured into the heart of nature. The whispering leaves and the gentle rustling of branches provided the perfect backdrop for his dastardly attempts to create the perfect puppy pal.
With a flourish of hand signs, Taiga summoned his chakra, and a grand wooden hound began to take shape before his eyes. This majestic creature, resembling a great dane, stood tall and proud, its wooden form emanating an air of anticipation. Taiga gazed upon his creation with a mix of excitement and doubt. The woodhound, was curled in a ball as if it was sleeping. It awaited the command that would awaken its ferocious spirit.
If he had dont it correctly, he would be able to kai it into action. Giving it a go, he kai'd and let it go. With a sudden great speed and force it rushed forward for the dummy, its jaw expanding as it grabbed onto it, bit in, and dragged it to the ground while sinking it's dagger like teeth into the targets flesh... well, a dummy in this case.
The mighty woodhound, infused with Taiga's unyielding determination, sought to assert its dominance. It clamped down with a strength that mirrored Taiga's control, its sharp jaws digging into the unfortunate target with unwavering tenacity. The force of its bite threatened to leave a lasting impression on anyone who dared to challenge its master.
However, time was not on Taiga's side. The woodhound, as formidable as it was, had a limited lifespan. He would need to make it better. As the training session progressed, Taiga honed his command over the woodhound, refining his techniques and adjusting his timing. He embraced the symbiotic connection between himself and his wooden creation, ensuring they moved as one harmonious unit.
Through trial and occasional error, Taiga sought to push the boundaries of his mastery over the Mokuton Woodhound. Mainly, by trying to increase its growth and waiting. He found if he waited long enough it became absolutely massive; and while that didn't mean it was stronger, it certainly made it more imposing and potential more deadly. Eventually, Taiga had exhausted all he could on the simple jutsu. It must of been good enough. Calling it quits, he would stick with his puppy pal.
And now I am short four words, so yeah, there.

Deep in the heart of a dense forest, Taiga stood in a clearing, his eyes fixed on a sturdy tree trunk located approximately 30 meters away. He knew that within that tree lay the key to unlocking the secrets to achieving a jutsu idea he had- one that had to do with "absorption". This was likely a C-Rank technique, but he was sure now he could do it.
With unwavering concentration, Taiga directed his focus towards the tree, his chakra flowing through his body like a gentle stream. Drawing upon his profound understanding of wood manipulation, he reached out with his mind and connected with the essence of the tree, sensing the dormant energy within. As he channeled his chakra into the tree a subtle transformation began to occur. The wood's structure started to change, adapting to the infusion of Taiga's chakra. He could sense the wood becoming receptive, as if it was awakening to the presence of his energy; turned on, if you would.
His plan was that each time the wood would be exposed to the chakra, it would skip a post forward on its passive. With this intention firmly in his mind, he directed his chakra to imprint this modification upon the wood's essence. It was a delicate process, requiring precise control and a deep understanding of the interaction between chakra and wood. More over, he was pretty sure this was key to unlocking a powerful defensive technique.
As he continued to channel his chakra into the tree, the effects of his absorption technique became more apparent. The wood responded, its passive structure adapting to Taiga's intentions. It skipped posts forward, as if fast-forwarding through its natural progression. The next step was to try and put it into his own jutsu; something more defensive, and something faster. If he could do this, he would create a very powerful shield. And so he tried.
With each repetition, Taiga's confidence grew. Again, and again, and again, he did his jutsu until his hands became sore from sealing. Finally, facing his jutsu, he flung more jutsu at it and watched as despite being injured, the wall seemed to bolster itself quickly. He realized rather than absorption, what he had achieved was the ability to fix the wall and cause it to keep growing again, to repair itself. It was exceptional. Satisfied with his progress, Taiga took a step back. This would be a technique that could protect those around him and truly help in the heat of battle. With a nod, he'd clean up the field then head home since he was a good boy.

At his usual secluded part of the Senju forest, Taiga prepared himself for the task ahead. His gaze fell upon a massive tree, its branches reaching towards the sky. This would serve as his source of wood, a canvas for his training. Nearby he had set up various dummies, sometimes with some ballistic jello around them.
With a calm yet focused mind, Taiga positioned himself in front of the tree, his chakra flowing steadily within him. He extended his hand towards the wooden giant, directing his energy towards it. The chakra surged forth, resonating with the natural essence of the wood. This wasn't too disimilar to how most jutsu started. Taking a deep breath, he activated his chakra like a muscle.
In an instant the peaceful scene erupted into absolute bloody chaos. The tree shuddered as an explosion of raw power emanated from it. Countless tiny splinters were propelled into the air, glinting like stars as they scattered around the clearing.
Taiga's eyes followed the trajectory of the splinters, their potential for harm evident. He understood that their mission was to penetrate flesh, entering the bloodstream with their sharpness. The consequences were dire, as they would grow within the bodies of their victims, wreaking havoc on their internal organs, especially the pulmonary system. Stepping close to the dummy after it was safe he watched the pieces grow time after time, for some minutes before they stopped. Tears and holes and even new damage beneath the gel had formed. It was truly a terrifying technique that made the most of wood... something Taiga had always hoped for.
He would continue to practices this doing it again, and again, and again. Destroying countless dummies as he honed its killing ability. How he got so much ballistic gel the world would never know; especially since most likely ballistic gel did not even exist in the naruto universe but thats besides the point- but good on you for actually reading this and questioning that. ANyways, finished with his testing, he had truly created a powerful jutsu.
He just had to name it. Master Splinter? Woodshards? Shatterpoint? Nah, splinters was a simpler name and better. Make that splinter. There was no point in overcomplicating things for flash- that was something someone like Fanho did. Content with his technique and the name he cleaned up the training ground and then went home where he'd eat an ice cream and have an ice bath, his mind racing on what jutsu he'd cook up next.

Taiga will form a bundle of 8 14-cm diameter roots on his back, each root capable of unraveling up to 30 meters long. When Taiga focuses on the roots (meaning he cannot use any other jutsu) he can move the roots at [Control] strength/speed. After 7 posts, the arms become inert.

At his usual trading grounds, Taiga was lost in thought. Takeo had died to a glorified octopus. Fanho had his light whips. There seemed to be a great deal of power in being able to have extra arms to do stuff; and realizing that Taiga had steeled himself to create a jutsu utilizing Mokuton that could match these mavericks. Standing at the center of the training ground, Taiga focused his chakra, feeling the energy coursing through his body. With precise control, he directed his chakra towards his back, visualizing the formation of eight robust roots. With a loud scream not un-akin to the one one would make during an intense bowl movement roots began to sprout from his back, intertwining and coiling together to form a sturdy bundle. So far things had looked good.
With the Mokuton Arms now taking shape, Taiga's training began in earnest. He understood that during this training, he would need to devote his full attention to the roots, unable to utilize any other jutsu. It required complete focus and concentration, with every fiber of his being dedicated to the control and movement of the Mokuton Arms.
Pushing himself he discovered that the strength and speed at which he could manipulate the roots depended on his control over his chakra. With each session, he pushed his limits, gradually increasing the strength and speed at which he commanded the Mokuton Arms. Still, they just didn't have that oomph italian chef hand that you really needed in a jutsu. He needed to think more on the design; perhaps he could gain more bang for his buck on chakra by making sure that when he didnt focus on the arms, they didn't really do all that much. First though, he focused on precision and efficiency, ensuring that every movement he commanded translated seamlessly to the roots. He explored various combat scenarios, utilizing the Mokuton Arms' reach and strength to his advantage.
He never quite found the answer but he did realize the immense versatility of the Mokuton Arms technique. The ability to wield eight powerful roots as extensions of his body gave him an edge in combat, allowing him to strike from a distance and manipulate the battlefield to his advantage when he needed to. It was versatile enough to be of some use in a variety of situations... and would probably be good enough to be of some use. As always he neatly cleaned his training ground and then left.

Deep beneath the village in the cavern he had often retreated to as a young boy, Taiga popped out of the ground. He was excited to train a new jutsu here today and focused his attentions towards a wooden dummy positioned before him. With a surge of chakra, he assimilated and merged with the dummy, allowing his consciousness to intertwine with its wooden form. Their essences became one, and Taiga could feel he connection between his chakra and the wooden vessel.
As the fusion completed, Taiga experienced a profound sensation of unity with the dummy. Every movement he made was mirrored by the wooden construct, as if they were a single entity. This synchronization allowed Taiga to utilize the dummy as an extension of himself, enabling him to move as one with it. He had wanted to practice an idea he had to bait and switch opponents; get them to attack and using his speed, eject from the dummy, leaving the dummy to tank the hit and then grab them in a flurry of roots.
These roots, imbued with the strength and speed of Taiga's control over his chakra, would swiftly entwine and ensnare anything caught within their grasp. They would pull with a force matching what he put into it and more, hopefully growing a bit more before he would spring his trap, and then forcefully bringing the captured objects or individuals back toward the dummy's last location.
The constricting force exerted by the roots intensified with each passing post, inflicting a potent restraint upon anything caught within their reach. The captured targets would find themselves immobilized, unable to escape the vice-like grip of the mokuton technique. All in all, Taiga had to admit it was a damn good idea. His hand scratching chin. Deciding to try it he made a clone and told it to attack him.
Just as planned when the clone swung for him, he ejected off behind the dummy, the clones fist shattering into the dummy as it shot out its roots which twisted and sprung around the clone, pulling it in and crushing it with a poof. Pretty proud of his technique, Taiga clicked his teeth and dismissed all of the branches and roots around until finally he was by himself. Yet another masterfully made Mokuton to add to his malicious masterful repertoire of techniques. He would make a name for himself among the anals of the senju clan. That word was intentionally spelled wrong you dirty minded prude.

Taiga loved maple syrup, even though the man in the chair that roleplayed him was from the country south of where the true maple lickers came from. Maple syrup was really sticky too, and that gave him a boat load of ideas.
As Taiga gathered his chakra, he grounded himself firmly and stomped his foot against the earth. A surge of energy coursed through his body, flowing into the ground below. Responding to his command, a majestic maple tree erupted from the ground, its branches stretching towards the sky. He had erected a beautiful, stiff, firm tree.
With a resounding burst, the maple tree unleashed a torrential downpour of thick, viscous maple syrup. Like a cascading tsunami, the syrup surged forth, expanding in a magnificent radius of 60 meters around the tree. Taiga's precise chakra control determined the strength and speed at which the syrup flowed, ensuring its devastating impact.
The potency of the Mokuton Maple became evident as the sticky substance blanketed the area. Its adhesive nature caused it to cling tenaciously to any surface it encountered. Weaker individuals, chiefly the clones he had created, found themselves helplessly ensnared, their movements restricted as they struggled against the syrup's adhesive grip.
The syrup's sticky embrace made it a formidable obstacle to overcome, hindering the mobility of those caught within its grasp. As it bound their limbs and slowed their movements, Taiga capitalized on the advantage provided by the Mokuton Maple, seizing opportunities to strike or gain a tactical advantage.
It was effectively a super adhesive.
Taiga recognized the strategic value of the Mokuton Maple and the opportunities it presented. He trained tirelessly to refine his control over the technique, experimenting with different scenarios to maximize its effectiveness. Through practice and experience, he learned to synchronize his movements with the syrup's flow, gaining a deeper understanding of its behavior and potential. Mainly, given size limitations of trying to keep the technique small enough to have a decent chakra cost performance, he needed to work on the timing and casting of it. He then had to make sure, like all mokuton, the maples adhesive power grew. With all the i's dotted and the t's crossed, he was pretty confident the jutsu was ready enough to come off the line. Happy that he had created yet another powerful and unique Mokuton technique, he cleaned up the area and then headed home, feeling like he wanted to eat some pancakes.

Taiga will stomp his foot on the ground, causing a massive cedar tree to rise out of the ground at [Control] speed; the tree will bloom releasing it's sticky, sweet smelling pollen into the air in a 160m radius for 9 posts. The pollen is rich with Taiga's chakra and breathing it in causes targets to become drowsy, lowering (-9) their Willpower substantially. Due to the passive of mokuton, every two posts the debuff is increased by 1 point.

Taiga had thought about the gross sugi pollen that gave him hellish hayfever multiple times a year. The pollen was so strong; what if he could make a sugi (cedar) tree that could emulate this effect and then some?
As Taiga grounded himself, he channeled his chakra, drawing upon the forces of nature. With a forceful stomp, he commanded the earth to respond. In an awe-inspiring display of power, a colossal cedar tree erupted from the ground, its towering form stretching towards the heavens.
With breathtaking speed, the cedar tree bloomed, releasing a cloud of sticky, sweet-smelling pollen into the air. The fragrance spread like a gentle breeze, permeating the surroundings in a vast radius of 160 meters. This alluring pollen carried the essence of Taiga's chakra, a potent infusion of nature's energy. It infused him onto the battle field, everywhere. It covered things in his essence.
Anyone unfortunate enough to inhale the pollen would succumb to its soporific effects though- the itchy eyes, the runny nose, and worse, the chakra infused pollen would work its magic as folks became drowsy, their willpoer and mental fortitude weakening. The jutsu had been everything he had planned and more.
The passive nature of the Mokuton technique also ensured that the pollen's influence grew with each passing moment. Continuously diminishing and whittling down the targets resolve and ability to resist. Taiga thought that in another life, he'd probably be a pretty excellent american police officer.
As the training progressed, Taiga's mastery of the Mokuton Cedar technique grew. He delved deep into the secrets of chakra manipulation, strengthening the connection between himself and the cedar tree. This bond allowed him to infuse the pollen with his own chakra, intensifying its effects and ensuring its efficiency in debilitating his opponents.
With every successful execution of the Mokuton Cedar, Taiga's confidence soared. He understood the immense power he possessed, capable of subduing even the most formidable adversaries with the tree's pollen. The tranquil beauty of the cedar and the seductive allure of its chakra-infused essence became a symbol of Taiga's prowess as a shinobi. It was a clever technique to help bolster his Genjutsu capabilities and something he was proud of.
As Taiga emerged from the depths of the forest, his mastery of the Mokuton Cedar was evident in every step. The aura of the cedar's energy enveloped him, resonating with his own chakra. Taiga had thought about the boy he had been, unable to use Mokuton at one point, and the man he was now.
Perhaps one who had created a legendary S-Rank technique.
