"Do I really need an escort for this...?" Ibuku was scratching between the new antlers that had grown in after the sealing of the Sekaigenma. The fall colors that were displayed on his antlers with a vibrant array of soothing warmth. Before this change, he would have blended in with most people and now, he was meant to stick out and be different. It made him all the more uncertain about even minor things he was confident about. When he has accepted the simple mission, he was told that an escort was going to be necessary as if he were to need to leave the village for even a brief moment, the risk at the current juncture was far too high. For now, he patiently waited for the Hyuuga that was supposed to come get him, sitting on a bench near the Mission Office. "What do they think will even happen... it's just cats... is there going to be some big monster or something..." his voice was quiet as he mused to himself out loud.
It had been weirdly harder to think lately, a second voice had joined him in his own head and while he found that interests with this voice aligned often, it felt like he was never alone with his own thoughts even if he couldn't confirm or deny which was accurate.

The trickster fox of the Hyuuga narrowed her eyes as she heard the news. She was to look after a new jinchuuriki, seriously, her? Why? Her shadow looked nearby, floating upwards from the ground behind Keriku and also listening to the commander as he talked about the child. "I see, very well then." The noble Keriku nodded her head and departed, her shadow made eeroe eye contact with the commander, which unnerved him, but he remained silent.
Reluctantly, Hyuuga Kerikus and her shadow departed the building and set out into the fine forested streets of Konohagakure, making their way to the mission office with haste. It was a very easy mission, or it would b for anyone of least chuunin level, or perhaps a genin with great speed. Why was speed important? Because cats are tricky little bastards of course, and Keriku had not a doubt in her mind. Finally she saw the boy, and she appeared in a puff of smoke directly next to him on the bench, as her shadow stood on his other side.
"Ah, good, you are already here. I'm Hyuuga, Keriku, and this is my shadow."
She gestured towards her shadow. "I know this isn't probably the type of mission you thought you'd be doing as a ninja, but it is still a job that the people of the village need done. "If you do good work today, I'll personally make sure you get to tag along on a higher ranked mission later "

"I don't think I have ever caught a cat... or held one... they are cute though... there was that black and white one the other day." As he was mumbling to himself in mostly silence, he was a little lost in the thoughts he had and didn't notice his escort had suddenly appeared next to him until he heard a voice in his head speak up. That was when he heard a voice whisper in his head, reminding him to pay attention to his surroundings even if he was occupied in his thoughts. He peered towards his left, noticing the Hyuuga sitting next to him and now the words properly caught up to his mind after a few seconds of awkward silence. "Hyuuga-Sama, and... Shadow-sama, nice to meet you both. I... will try to do my best." Unlike the Keriku's voice, Ibuku seemed more unsure and quiet in his demeanor as he went to stand up. He frankly felt a touch top heavy with the antlers and he balanced himself a brief second before fully looking around the area they were in.
"The... mission said to start close to the Nara compound as that was the last location that the cat in question was spotted... I-I... don't know where that is... do you?" He seemed sheepish about admitting to his own failing in this department but he didn't have the greatest grasp on locations yet, for one reason or another.

The fact that Keriku's shadow was detached from her was not always so immediately obvious, as in, often times, though Kerikus introduced her shadow, people didn't quite get what she meant. It was usually later, when they were doing something else that someone would finally realize Keriku cast no shadow behind herself, and that she had been quite literal with her introduction of her shadow, it was not just a name for the creature.

While normally, Ibuku wasn't one to get hung up on his lack of knowledge, he found it difficult to admit that he didn't know much about the village. Most days, he had simply gone from the academy to home or to a park... He hardly ever paid attention to his surroundings, focused fully on doing his best in school with the hopes of graduating without a worry. "I've pet a few of the strays that used to be someone's pet... They are usually affectionate but they get scared easily." While he spoke, he watched the shadow as it did seem like it's own creature, sentience and free will granted via what he was told was a Nara technique. Which was odd considering it was a Hyuuga that was allowed to have such a technique.
"Hyuuga-sama, how did you gain permission to remove your shadow? Like you said, the Nara are known for acts of shadow manipulation..." The question fell out of his lips before he could have thought to stop himself, his curiosity laid bare as he was following to the side of his escort. As he walked, his eyes wandered around, the mission less of a concern even if it appeared that he was keeping a lookout. Instead, he watched small gusts of wind grab small bits of fallen leaves from the ground, toss them around in tiny spirals before fluttering away.

"On we go then, if we're lucky maybe we'll see some deer." Keriku said with a grin and leapt upwards onto the nearest rooftop suddenly and without a sound. Her shadow pointed to a particular ledge it thought was a good height for the young jiinchuuriki, then made its way over to it casually, slithering along the ground and then applying itself to the wall of the building and scurrying up it two dimensionally before popping back out of it as a whole and jumping onto the rooftop, then itself too looking around, utilizing its Byakugan and it found all the cats immediately within a very, very wide radius. It immediately landed back next to Keriku, whom was already walking towards the closest one casually.
She did not yet draw attention to it, she just casually walked in the direction of the cat which she found with her byakugan and beckoned for the young one to come with her. "So, tell me about yourself. What do you like to do for fun? What is your favorite type of jutsu? Is there a particular type of jutsu you wish to learn? What makes us tick, hm?"
She spread her arms wide somewhat dramatically, and she revealed a black and red fox mask in her left hand that came out of seemingly nowhere with the flick of the rest as a deck of cards appeared in her right hand much the same. "You tell me a little about you, I tell you a little about me, and we work on this cat that happens to find itself inside of you now, hmm? I think it sounds like a good deal. Finding the cats is just side work while we work on making you the best you."
Keriku turned to face him and pointed with the hand that was holding the deck of cards a little off to her right and into the trees, out of the way of the buildings and the street. "Theres cats over there but who knows if that's the one. I mean, I know, but do you? Haha, it's cheating if I do it." The shadow dropped the cat in front of the young jinchuuriki's feet. "Ibuku... Is that the cat?"

While Ibuku watched the shadow give him a suggestion, he was keen to follow as best he could. As he moved to follow, part of the ground extended from his foot and allowed him to leap up a little easier, before the chunk of earth simply went back to its normal state as if nothing had happened at all. It was all natural to him, something he didn't have to focus on as the newfound power he had worked with his mind for small tasks. Soon, he was able to make his way after the Jounin ninja who was far faster than him. "Myself... Well... I like taking care of my plants, I... like to read. Favorite jutsu..." There was a moment of silence as he was looking around, both looking around them to get a view of where they were and at the same time, use the moment to think on the thoughts in his mind. "I like the simple ones... The chakra burst one comes to mind. It is targeted and doesn't hurt plants unnecessarily." Ibuku continued to follow along as he was speaking, watching the movements of the senior shinobi and doing his best to mimic them.
'They are weird...' His own thoughts clashed with another as it spoke to him in a soft, withered but wizened voice. 'They have experience, learn from them.' As Ibuku did his best to match the pace, he was able to stop himself just before he slipped a little further down a roof and paused. There were several strays in eyesight and likely more out of his vision, a variety of colors and coat patterns. He went to peer once more at the scroll as if to compare it to what he could see before a cat was gingerly placed in front of him. "Mmmmh... It doesn't seem so. Different description from what is written. This one..." Ibuku didn't hesitate as he reached down, scooping the cat up with a hand and holding it close to his body make sure it didn't squirm too much. "Has a similar pattern but different fur color and isn't as small as described." He set the cat back down, stroking along its back as it skittered off. He began to examine the area once more as he was going to roll the scroll up and set it back away before speaking. "What is said seems to suggest a tortoiseshell patterned coat, female, with polydactyl toes on its front left paw." There was a minor pause as he almost seemed embarrassed by his own knowledge.
"I... Like cats... They are quiet..." As he said that, he began to lower the number of cats in the area, mentally checking off the list that didn't match the particular coat pattern before gesturing to what seemed like three of them. "Those three there match the most of what I can see."

The shadow released the cat immediately and it ran away in oh such a hurry, yes it did. Scurrying off, it banged into the other cats and then they all ran in every direction and Keriku's face tilted as she stared at two of them that shot somewhat north east. "Well...I'd say we do have a bit of our work cut out for us I suppose."
"What type of jutsu do you think could help us to catch a cat?" Keriku asked Ibuku after a while, then she began thinking about her own plants at him and wondered exactly what kind Ibuku might have. He seemed a cutesy sorta fellow, a real lover of sorts, not a fighter. She wondered if the ninja life were truly for him.

"Well... I'm not sure if I have a jutsu for this specifically but I can... try something." His eyes had been watching all the movement but was having trouble tracking the chaos. There was a pause though as he cleared his throat. "If I had it, a sensory technique would be useful but that is too broad... Tracking based Taijutsu would be better. If you combined the two, it would ultimately be the most useful." As he was going on about it, he followed towards the hand that motioned off towards the two cats he had briefly seen travel off north. With that, he went to leap down from the roof they had perched on. Even if they had been set back, Ibuku didn't seem bothered by it. There was a slight voice in his head that spoke to his mind, an old teacher. 'Not every mission will go as planned. Improvise and change. As he was lost in the thought, he had been making his way that direction and seemed to be working on instinct alone on where he might find a cat. There was a few locations he passed by that did have cats but he didn't seem to pay them any mind. It was now a strange type of hunt and Ibuku could feel some of the joy in it as he paused suddenly at an alleyway and peered down it cautiously, having peeked around the corner. He swore he could see the cat they were looking for hiding in the alley for a brief second but he wasn't too sure.
"If you... give me a little time, I might be able to cut off it's escape or... I can try to be more diplomatic about it?" He offered to Keriku, hoping to hear his senior's opinion on the matter. Even though this was his mission fully, he wasnt sure of himself. After all, it was maybe a month since he had become a Genin and he hadn't even done anything substantial except act as a willing host and vessel for a powerful spirit to channel power through.
"I'm lacking in this area... Which is good to know but I'm going to need your help Hyuuga-sama..." Now that was a bitter pill to swallow.
