Age: 24 Gender: Male Physical Features: Shizuka's body is pale from head to toe due to a form of albinism. Shizuka's body is a pale creamy color like the soft color of a pearl. Due to his preference of keeping his enemies at a distance using the long reach of his staff, his body has relatively few scars, and the few he does are small and thin. His hair when not shaved grows in as white as the snow covered peaks of the mountains surrounding his home. His eyes are a light lavender color, the red of his blood vessels in his eyes, mixing with the blue structural color of the eye creating the unique and unusual color. |
Height: 5'11" Weight: 180lbs Clothing/Accessories:Due to his desire for revenge and the grudge in his heart coupled with the desire to follow the Buddhist way, he decided to wear black mourning robes in place of the traditional orange or yellow monk robes. The black black mourning robes are worn for the unfortunate souls who's lives Shizuka was forced to end. What little color that is present in the robes were chosen for their symbolic meaning; the red, the anger he is unable to let go of, the blue, his desire to achieve inner peace. Though commonly seen barefoot, his feet will sometimes be covered by tight black wraps over top of which would be worn black slippers. His pants themselves are form fitting yet flexible to allow for ease of movement. Around his neck are a set of black Mala beads. The black scarf he wears over his mouth serves two purposes. One to act as an air filter and two, to dissuade people from talking to him. |
He enjoys calligraphy and poetry two of the few hobbies he allows himself to indulge in. His stroke work is something he is proud of as he has spent a long time to attain his skill. Though he appreciates music he himself has no musical talent. And despite his appreciation and acknowledgement of the skill of those who performing. Shizuka would be more at home in a quiet monastery filled with the quiet symphony of nature than downtown in a pub with performers.
His goal and aim is to seek enlightenment and achieve the do. As such he spends much time tempering his body and mind through rigorous training. His fear is taking a life that he may have been able to spare, seeing all life as important and precious. Despite his peaceful nature, Shizuka has a darkness in his heart that keeps him from reaching enlightenment and inner peace. He seeks justice for the destruction of his family. And until the day comes when his family can be avenged he shall not be able to rest in peace.

Toryu Kenjutsu:Toryu Kenjutsu is a sword style originating from the Land of Pebbles that focuses on not just performing kenjutsu but also weaving close quarters style taijutsu into the bladework. Toryu's specialty is not only learning to capably slash a sword with one hand but also learning to use the hands, joints, legs and even the head to make frighteningly dangerous close quarters fighters. An inelegant style, it is commonly associated with the more 'rough' samurai but in truth it's reliance on two opposing impulses and control of the body makes it one of the more difficult Kenjutsu styles to learn. While usable with most blades, experienced fighters often prefer wakizashi, ninjato and even tanto daggers instead of katana for increased mobility.
Requires: [Close Quarters Combat], [Sword] Concentrations
Iron Body Style:Harden the mind and body to become Iron. Unlike most stances, due to use of Pranayama specifically the user can actually use each stance without a specific form to their body, though the form written is considered the historical style of the fighting.
Requires: [Pranayama], [Rigid Body], [Close Quarters Combat], and [Perception] concentrations
The Eight Gates of Heaven:The ultimate and legendary form of bodily control, through controlled breathing a pure ]concentration the user breaks the limiters of their mind and body, allowing them to harness the full power within. Unlike usual stances, the Eight Gates of Heaven is achieved solely through Pranayama, meaning the user can enter the state through breathing and body control rather than moving a specific way.
Requires: [Pranayama] and [Close Quarters Combat] concentrations

Shizuka was an orphan taken in by the Shinkizou Monastery at the age of 4. Originally thought to be mute due to his silence it was only later discovered his silence was due to the trauma of witnessing the death of his family. His child hood in the monastery was rather uneventful. Much like the boy's name it was a quiet life of meditation and training.
As a child he was a weapons prodigy able to master a variety of styles and techniques. The only thing out of the ordinary was his habit of only using a staff. Though he'd been trained in a variety of spear and sword techniques, he'd train and fight with a staff. It was a tad bit unorthodox however he made use of the flexibility and universal qualities of the staff. He would use the staff to act as a sword spear or club, relying on the one weapon to act as others, supplementing jutsu to create blades where none were prior.
Despite his original training to be a temple guard, hidden in his heart was a darkness he couldn't let go. He was unable to relinquish his desire for revenge against the man who killed his family and was thus unable to separate from his worldly desires. As such when offered the chance he enrolled to become a shinobi of Kumogakure seeking to find a chance to obtain his revenge so he could fully embrace the Buddhist teachings of his monastery.
His journey as a shinobi has been a relatively long one despite the short time he's been a shinobi. Learning ninjutsu wasn't too hard however genjutsu proved to be quite a challenge, his forthright nature making illusions a harder than it should've been.
His first mission was nothing along what he'd been expecting, being assigned to baby sit and elders granchild. Despite his rank and ability as a temple monk, when he became a shinobi he had to restart from the bottom rung. As such he went from direct combat duties all the way down to base chores. Despite his surprise he didn't complain, a shock to his superiors. Instead he silently followed through with the mission. Due to his prior experience and his dutiful nature, Shizuka cleared through mission after mission, boosting his squads completion rating by 45%.
As a result of his excellent performance Shizuka was quickly promoted to Chuunin. His exam was a C-Rank mission, escorting a merchant to his home in the southern portion of the country. He discovered a bandit ambush ahead of time and was able to take out the 3 foolish men without harm coming to his charge. His familiarity with his weapon and focused mind allowed him to control the flow of the battle despite the unfavorable odds stacked against him. His exemplary service earned him full marks and he was moved to a new squad upon his promotion.
Despite his pacifist nature Shizuka became well known for killing his enemies with out so much as a word spoken between them. The only sounds one would hear would be the muffled chanting of his matras. This behavior earned him the nickname Shi Shi or quiet death. Though Shizuka himself never truely reacted to this nickname, he was aware of what others were calling him and thus responded. Thus the holy man earned himself an unholy nickname.
As his renown grew throughout Kumogakure as a powerful shinobi, his reputation amongst the Buddhist fell as his behaviors were rather contradictory to the behavior expected of a proper monk, despite him not being the only monk shinobi. Due to his own inner conflict because of the contradictions of the Buddhist Do and Nindo, the young warrior monk took to wearing black mourning robes and began to pray for the lives of those he has killed. One could tell he'd been forced to kill a lot by how fervently he'd pray and recite his mantras.
As a chuunin, Shizuka was rather efficient when assisting lower ranking soldiers. Though he wouldn't say much, he'd often demonstrate or give out scrolls with detailed instructions written with beautiful penmanship. Anyone he trained would build a rather strong physique due to his traditional body training exercises. His Jounin supervisor would often praise him for his skill and patience.
Due to his ability to perform exceptionally both as a fighter and a leader, his Jounin suggested he be promoted to Special Jounin and given a team of his own to command, believing he had the skills to nurture future generations of shinobi despite his young age. With his supervisor's support and recommendation, Shizuka was given a B-rank mission; to train one whole class of graduating academy students.
For the next three years Shizuka trained a class of academy newbies. Shizuka had his work cut out for him. Helping 2 genin that already had a rough idea of what they should be doing wasn't all that hard, but teaching children that knew next to nothing that was an entirely different story. His first order of business was to improve his own genjutsu so as to be able to teach it better.
As a young teacher, Shizuka began to view his trainees as younger siblings. He cared for them and poured his heart into his work. He was a hard teacher, but he only ever wanted them to succeed. When any student would fall behind he'd offer them extra lessons so they could pass the next test. His motto as a teacher was leave no man behind. To him it was no longer about succeeding his mission and being promoted, no it was ensuring these children would learn the required skills to survive.
On the day of the graduating class 90% of his class passed the final exam and the few remaining students who had failed, scored high enough to be passed after remedial training. His results astounded the higher ups as the average rate of graduation was usually around 85%. As a result some of his training methods were noted, and spread to improve the Academy as a whole. Due to his hard work and contributions to the academy, Shizuka was granted the rank of Special Jounin.
It was a fairly fast yet eventful trip from genin at 12 years old to special jounin at 24. He is now eagerly awaiting his first command of a genin squad, hoping a few of his previous students will be among their number.
