- Face/head: Susen has a young, round face that has yet to develop significant beard growth. His eyes are a dark purple, round and very large. His round, childlike face is what causes most people to think Susen is younger than he really is, or worse, a girl. Only time will tell of age will chisel his face into a more masculine shape. Susen has long, dark-brown hair. Six braids are woven from his hair, three on both sides of his head. One bread hangs in front of the ear, resting just above the shinobi´s shoulder, while the other two on both sides are behind the ear and fall over his back. The braids are decorated with red ribbon.
- Body: Despite being young, Susen´s body is very athletic. It´s the kind of body you would expect from someone who has not yet matured yet practices physical combat on a daily basis: while his shoulders are not yet broad his arms, legs and torso are covered in compact muscle. Susen has a brown skin colour.

- General: An introverted individual, Susen has always been a bit of a loner. He´s the type of person who is more comfortable staying on the background of social situations. At first glance, he appears to be a quiet and humble individual. Because he stays at a distance in most situations, Susen is very observant and can pick up on details of his surroundings very quickly. His disposition generally comes off as serious and distant. He tends to be very blunt, considering an any less direct method of communication to be a waste of time. At the same time, he tends to share his true thoughts and feelings only with people he´s close too.
Susen has a very strong sense of duty. He acts responsibly most of the time because he feels responsible for a lot of things. Representing his clan in a positive light, upholding his own moral code while still being a good shinobi… Susen feels the weight of all these things. He rarely complains. Susen is a hard worker who is result-oriented. A pragmatic individual, he believes in solving problems rather than complaining. While he is capable of loosening up and warming up to people, Susen tends to keep his true thoughts and opinions to himself. Even then, sharing his feelings has never been his strongest feat. When faced with a problem, he will first look for any possible way to solve it before asking for help. This tendency of pushing people away and carrying the weight of his life on his own shoulders alone is what usually gets him in the most trouble.
Susen also suffers from something similar to middle child syndrom. Being a member of a family known for producing talented shinobi, but not being a prodigy by the Tategami standards or a child of the family head has left Susen with a feeling of being quickly overlooked. He has a strong ambition to one day prove himself as his own individual. At the same time, he does carry pride for being a Tategami, having adopted many of their personality traits.

- Combat Mentality:In combat, Susen is a ruthless fighter who doesn´t let up. Living in the harsh, northern reaches of the Lightning Country has tought Susen to fight more like a predator than a man. In combat, Susen goes for the kill. He is an incredibly focused individual, but his doggedness at taking down his opponent may also lead to tunnel-vision. He prefers fighting enemies one-on-one. Against a larger group of enemies he will usually look for a way to divide them.

D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will spray water created from the inside of their chest through their mouth. Once the water is expelled, it will form an umbrella shape that is concave to the user and about two meters in diameter. This defense is somewhat solid and can be formed in any direction the user can spit, up to five meters away. The defense is shot at a speed of 5 and has a strength of 5 and unless completely destroyed it lasts for three posts before falling lifelessly to the ground.

After channeling chakra into their hands the user will fire two jets of water from their hand, essentially hurling and propelling themselves in the opposite direction of their jets as if thrown by a strength of 5. Can be used once to throw themselves with 5 strength.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will expel a 3 meter diameter sphere of water from their mouth at speed of 5 up to 10 meters away. Upon impact it will burst spilling all over the immediate area making it extremely slippery. After performing the correct hand seals the user will launch a sphere of water from the mouth with a diameter of two feet. The sphere can travel a maximum of four meters, after which it explodes. Upon exploding, the area of about two meters around the orb will be showered in water senbon. These senbon are similar in deadliness to regular senbon. The senbon last one post before dissolving into normal water.

After performing the correct hand seals the user secretes a thin layer of liquid from their pores. This liquid covers the user´s skin and acts as a defensive layer against weak fire techniques. If the user is hit with a D-rank fire technique while this technique is effective, the fire technique will deal no damage to the user. If the user is hit with a fire technique of C-rank or higher, the damage dealt to the user will be reduced by one rank. In either cases, the layer of water will evaporate upon contact with the katon technique or after five posts after activation.

Tategami are famous for their proficiency with the spear. Tategami members favour the spear as their go-to weapon, and most members are taught from a young age to handle the weapon. Members who have studied the art of the spear are very quick and deadly with this weapon. More skilled members can increase the deadliness of their spear by conducting chakra through the blade, increasing sharpness and adding other effects based on the elements of the user. This style requires the user to possess a spear about 5/6 ft in length.
This style places great focus on footwork and rhythm, taking advantage of the spear´s superior range to launch attacks at the opponent while remaining safe from counter-attacks. This style employs various quick jabs and slashes along with quick footwork in order to wear down the opponent´s stamina. Users of this style are very focussed on their opponent, reacting to almost every movement the opponent makes with a movement of their own. Generally, practicioners prefer to keep their opponents within an ideal range of about four to five feet, out of the reach of most swords. The style also has several distance-closing techniques and defensive techniques.

This stance focuses on defence, quick jabs and reactive manoeuvrers. The user wears his spear with both hands diagonally, with the blade of the spear aiming upwards at the opponent, the shaft across the user´s chest and the butt of the spear ending near the user´s leg. This technique sacrifices reach for the ability to throw quick jabs at the opponent without compromising the ability to block incoming attacks. This stance forms the basis for several techniques that are intended to react to an opponent´s attack by going for the openings left in the wake of their attack.

It is one of the most basic spear techniques of the Tategami, and one of the techniques they begin practising the earliest. Mastery of this technique, however, continues for most of the shinobi´s life, with the most skilled members of the clan executing this technique so well that their movements barely become visible. Because the mastery of this technique takes a lifetime, this technique is represented by multiple ranks.
This technique is essentially a flurry of jabs aimed at the opponent´s sides while simultaneously taking a step forward with each jab. Each jab is designed to that the opponent dodges right into the next jab. Say the Tategami clansmen jabs at an enemy´s left side. The enemy will dodge to the right, which the clansman will have anticipated and reacted to with a pre-emptive jab to the right. This will cause the opponent to become increasingly worn down due to having to deal with calculated strikes and an advancing opponent. This technique can be performed from all stances, but the Human Stance version has better speed and precision while the Beast Stance version has superior reach. Starting from the B-rank version of this technique, the user can also employ Dual Wield to perform this technique with two spears.
Because the power of this technique scales with the skill of the user, it is divided by different ranks. Each new rank can only be accessed once the standard requirements are met. Each rank does count as a new jutsu. For example, to unlock the B-rank version of this technique, the user needs the C-rank version of this technique plus one more C-rank technique. In order to effectively dodge and parry the strikes without being overwhelmed, the opponent has to have stats based on the rank of the technique as follows:

If done correctly, the user can close the distance between themself and the enemy while easily dodging most incoming attacks.

The user reacts to the forward momentum of an enemy´s attack. For example, after a charge or forward lunge. The user sidesteps into whichever direction the blade of the spear is pointing and swipes the butt of the spear upwards in order to smack the opponent in the face.
Kassou Fukurou - Gliding Owl
D -Rank Spear-based Taijutsu
This technique requires the user to have a higher ground than the target. The user aims their spear at the opponent and dives down towards them, holding the spear in both hands towards the opponent and before the user´s body. The user soundlessly glides towards the opponent, the entire body and spear being completely stil in order to produce as little friction and sound as possible. If this technique connects, the user will bury their spear into the opponent´s body and push it down further using the force of their own impact.
Kuzure Kaketa Yama – Crumbling Mountain

The user lowers their body slightly to gather force from their core, and launches a quick, powerful stab at a target. The trick of this technique is for the user to focus all their force into one jab, making it >5 their usual strength. This technique when used on the weak spot of a defence can crumble said defence.

Being a young Genin, Susen hasn't accomplished much yet. He was born as a part of the Tategami family and spent most of his youth growing up in the northern wastes of the Lightning Country. He grew up as a part of a large but tight family, seeing the same faces every day. He was taken along with hunts from the moment he cold walk, just like his two brothers, three sisters and countless cousins. This feeling of being part of a greater whole marked most of Susen's earlier life. While he showed great promise as a shinobi, he wasn't a genius like his older brother. He wasn't the black sheep of the family like his oldest cousin, who later went rogue, nor was he the child of the clan head like his best friend. Susen was just always there, playing his part.
Being raised as such, Susen developed a sense of duty. He felt like he was supposed to do his part to ensure the succes of the clan. During team hunts, everyone had a certail role. So when he was sent to the academy in Kumogakure no Sato, he was in for quite a surprise. To ensure diversity in the classrooms, all Tategami academy students were split up between different classes. For Susen to suddenly be surrounded by so many different personalities with different cultures and different abilities made him feel different for the first time in his life.
Needless to say, he felt right at home. His Tategami traits that made him a part of the family were what set him apart in the academy. He quickly learned to develop an air of mystery, playing the role of exotic northener to finally feel different. He graduated from the academy with good grades, and while the other Genin were already divided into teams, Susen was sent back to the Tategami compound to complete his coming-of-age ritual. He was to venture into the most dangerous mountain of the Tategami territory and return with a prey that was large enough for the clan head to be approved. And so he did. For a week he toiled on the mountain before coming among the tracks of one of the largest bears he had ever seen. He tracked the beast to its lair and, in a fierce battle, killed the beast.
When he came back to present it, the bear was approved. And Susen was happy, for a minute, before he found out that his prey was only average compared to what some of the other Genin had brought back. And so Susen returned to Kumogakure no Sato with his new spear in hand, ready to find his place as a Kumo-nin.
