Shuudoushi

General Information Type: Clan
Village: [Sunagakure no Sato]
Size: Medium (10-15 Families)
Traits: While the finer nuances of the clan member's appearance can vary just as much as any other person, the members of this clan are very... blessed in appearance, to say the least. Regardless of personality, gender, experiences, or age, no member of the Shuudoushi clan can be considered ugly in even the slightest detail; in fact, every single clan member has exceptionally pleasing, if not immaculate features. This is from a general viewpoint, of course; this does not call into account a person's specific physical preferences. Nevertheless, their inborn "beauty" is undeniable; the babies and children of the clan are adorable in the truest sense, men all have either romantically smooth or ruggedly handsome faces and bodies, and the women of the clan all have amazingly soft skin and smooth curves that accentuate their forms.

Also, another aesthetically oriented trait of the clan is that regardless of their wounds and struggles, their bodies will never scar. This is not an increase in metabolic functions nor is it a healing factor; a person who's lost their arm will still lose their arm and parts of the body that wouldn't heal naturally won't heal with this trait. It simply means that there will be no trace of the wounds they suffered on the surface; if an eye gets slashed, it will grow back the way it looked (although it will not regain its functionality in any way, shape, or form) and skin will be made anew without scarification.

The last and most notable trait that members of the clan share is a third eye smack dab in the middle of their forehead. While it has no eyebrow and cannot aid in any sort of facial expression, this third eye functions just like a normal eye, but with one extra function: the members of the Shuudoushi clan channel their power through this eye.

Traditions: One very unusual tradition that is very strictly enforced in the Shuudoushi clan is an annual event called "The Great Debate." This tradition serves to an extent as a writ of passage for Shuudoushi members. The clan member must demonstrate his diplomatic prowess by choosing a subjective topic and reasoning on it in front of the Council. The entire deliberation takes roughly three hours and is filled with intense debate and cross-examination. If the diplomat can defend his or her position on either a technical or ethical ground for that time, they are permitted to seek greater responsibilities within the clan. While it is typical for young teens to take this challenge, Shuudoushi clan members of all ages are allowed to partake. Until this test has been passed in-context, no player character is allowed to assume a political position of power in the Shuudoushi clan.

The second tradition of the Shuudoushi is more specifically for shinobi. While Shuudoushi shinobi are generally allowed free reign over their shinobi career, all Shuudoushi shinobi, for the sake of honoring their clan's gift, must share that gift with the world by completing at least one mission of a diplomatic nature.

Finally, as the Shuudoushi particularly value their elder clan members and respect the knowledge and wisdom their long lives have bestowed upon them, younger clan members, before turning the age of 30, must help an elderly Shuudoushi member fulfill their Votum Ultimus, or "Final Wish." As the wish can be anything, the elderly clan member is assigned a helper by the Council to assist them in this task, and though the elderly members don't always ask for something ostentatious, many of them take advantage of this gift from the clan. Clan members who successfully complete this task are celebrated, especially if it is a difficult one, but should a Shuudoushi member fail, it is viewed as a bad omen for their future and are seen as having been dishonored. It is, however, not impossible for one to have their honor restored; should the member request it, the Council can choose to assign another Votus Ultimus. Passing it restores the clan member's honor.

Influence: Despite holding a reasonable amount of pride in their own clan, the Shuudoushi, long being lauded as diplomats of the highest caliber, don't hold any special relationship with any of the clans in Sunagakure. In fact, the Shuudoushi offers its services in the event that there IS a conflict between clans. While the Shuudoushi and their leadership are faithful to the Kazekage and their cause, the clan's true devotion lies with the people of the village itself, realizing that without their efforts, the village simply wouldn't prosper as it does today. If they are not doing something involving community service, Shuudoushi clan members are advocating its members to volunteer in activities that promote association with and for the well-being of the people of the village, such as helping in local hospitals, medicine gardens, libraries, orphanages, and generally anything that involve community interaction.

Additional Details:
 • Political Hierarchy: Significant restructuring their political hierarchy during their long sojourn, the Shuudoushi are now run by a group of eleven Elders known simply as the Council of Brotherhood. These Elders, though of varying ages and experiences, are without question the wisest of the Shuudoushi. Each year, one of the eleven Elders rotate to serve as the Coordinator of the Council. New Elders are selected from those willing to serve, the Elders referring and deliberating over the ancient texts left by Shuudoushi Byakko to determine if the ones nominated are wise and humble enough for the office. These selections are held normally after an Elder steps down (retires) or passes away.
 • Theological Beliefs: Besides the commonly held traditions of Sunagakure, the older members of the Shuudoushi believe there to be a Messiah figure that arises in their ranks once every century or so. Though it has yet to be seen in real life, the lore of the clan states that this prophesied child of Byakko would be marked by the expression of the clan's trait in a unique manner. At birth, every child of the Shuudoushi opens their third eye for a short time, the doujutsu momentarily active before closing and laying dormant until the child is older when they learn to use the doujutsu consciously. Unlike the rest of the clan, however, the bloodline of this fabled "messiah" or "avatar" has a special trait: the iris of their doujutsu, instead of being the typical Shuudoushi cornflower blue and gold, is a deep violet and bright silver, caused by a slight mutation at birth. It is believed that this child will prove to be of major influence to the world, and that they will serve as an avatar both to the Shuudoushi and to the people of the village, teaching them a "better way of living" and reestablishing faith both in the goodwill of humanity and the Kazekage.

History The once-lauded clan, having produced even one of the most beloved Kazekages seen by Sunagakure no Sato, took a voluntary sojourn back into the deserts of the Wind Country to rediscover their ancient history and retrace its steps. Feeling its skills in peacecraft were waning due to the ever stagnating nature of the cold war between the Great Nations and their Shinobi Villages, along with the greed and self-serving attitudes that were slowly seeping into their clan's politics, the clan sought to work greater good and reclaim its humble origins as peacemakers outside of the walls of Sunagakure no Sato, traveling to their ancestral homelands deep in the deserts of the Wind Country and assisting those they came across in their conflicts without pay.

The harsh conditions in the desert, along with the corruption of their spirit, caused many to forsake the clan for their own benefit, some choosing to remain in the village at the cost of forsaking their birthright as Shuudoushi. Others, older in age, passed away during their long treks through the desert, though these were comparatively few. Due to this, by the time the determined and humbled reached their ancestral homelands and recovered the tomes from the very first progenitor of their Kekkei Genkai, Shuudoushi Byakko, the size of the clan had shrunken considerably. Though it took considerable time for the elders of the clan to translate the ancient texts, they eventually found humbled them even further. Shuudoushi Byakko, a pacifist by principle and devout servant of Yuumagure, mourned the fact that the nomadic clans of the ancient Wind Country were constantly quarreling and warring with each other, frustrated that he alone could only do so much. Thus, when he heard of the great nomad clans uniting to form the origins of Sunagakure no Sato, instead of foolishly thinking he could help cultivate peace on his own, he journeyed a great distance to the village and aided in its time of need. He did this in the hopes that he would find other like-hearted ones, regardless of their lineage or bloodline, who would seek to cultivate peace.

It was only upon reading these texts that the Shuudoushi understood the folly of their ways; they had selfishly guarded their ways, trying to shoulder the burden on their own. They knew they had to return, and they had to return a changed clan. Discarding the convoluted political arrangement of the parliament, the leadership of the clan was reformed to a much simpler structure: a council of 11 Elders, with each Coordinator rotating out every year. Each Elder would have an assistant to help tend to the clerical needs of the clan. Other than when the council convenes, however, all Shuudoushi are equal, and all seek the betterment of their clan and their village, not out of pride, but by compassion by principle. With the rise of the Twelveth Kazekage, one known to seek diplomacy and peace with even her most ardent enemies, the Shuudoushi return to their true ancestral homeland, Sunagakure no Sato, with both a newfound humility and a rekindled desire to share in what they hope will be a new era of peacecraft for the village. Though they face bitterness from stalwart patriots of the village, they seek to mend old wounds and rebuild burned bridges, refining humility through confronting consequence and adversity.

Shinobi Information Definitions:
Yokuatsugan (Suppression Eye)
The Yokuatsugan is the doujutsu of the Shuudoushi clan. It allows the clan member to both visually quantify and suppress violent and aggressive thoughts within their vicinity. The Yokuatsugan interprets violent and aggressive thought visually as a black aura emanating from their chest. The more consumed by violent and aggressive thoughts and intent a person is, the larger this black aura appears to be in the eyes of the Shuudoushi. The effectiveness of the Yokuatsugan varies, based on the average of the user's Control and Instinct and the target's Instinct. The higher the user's instinct, the more the target will be affected. The Yokuatsugan can be immediately activated and deactivated with a reflexive expenditure of chakra equivalent to an E-Ranked Ninjutsu technique. The Yokuatsugan can also suppress other emotions, causing others to rise in its place, following the Emotion Wheel.

When the Yokuatsugan is inactive, the eye looks identical to the person's normal eyes and functions as such. When it's active, however, the eye snaps wide open and the irises gain a cornflower blue color with flower-like patterns and a gold core surrounding the pupil. The doujutsu translates violent intent and aggressive thought into a visual indicator of a translucent black swirling mass surrounding one's chest. Should the person be absolutely non-violent, they will only see a still black dot hanging over the person's chest, but should the individual be filled with murderous rage, the Yokuatsugan will translate it as a large black aura emanating wildly off of their body.

The effectiveness of Yokuatsugan doujutsu is dependent on the clan member's average of their Instinct and Control, rounded down. Should the clan member's average of their Control and Instinct, rounded down, exceed the target's Instinct, the target will be affected according to the difference between the contesting stats (pacification used as the primary example for this table but can be replaced with other emotions):
 • Control/Instinct Average 1-3 Points Greater than Target's Instinct: Aggression toward the clan member and others is more difficult than normal. Target may hesitate, pull punches, or use slightly weaker jutsu to attack. Targets will feel a sense of guilt upon using lethal force.
 • Control/Instinct Average 4-6 Points Greater than Target's Instinct: Aggression toward the clan member and others is difficult. Target will hesitate, refrain from using full force on attacks, or intentionally choose significantly weaker jutsu to attack. Target will find it very difficult to use lethal force against the clan member and others.
 • Control/Instinct Average 7-9 Points Greater than Target's Instinct: Aggression toward the clan member and others is extremely difficult, only possible if there is a core overriding motivation. Target will resist orders and impulses to attack and will only fight in the interest of self-defense or will use non-lethal methods of attack. Target will refuse to use lethal force.
 • Control/Instinct Average 10+ Points Greater than Target's Instinct: Target is completely pacified and will not fight, only defending one's own self and otherwise rendered completely docile.

D-Rank ~Heiwa-sei • The Monk's Entrance
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member channels pacifying chakra into a 10-meter radius. Those in the target area begin to feel slightly less aggression towards their opponents and others in their vicinity, reducing the likelihood they will attack using full force or lethal methods. This doesn't change their manner of reasoning in any fashion; it's more of a simple tool used to try and subtlely sway those affected to stop engaging in violence and being more amenable to dialogue. This technique lasts for up to three posts, and the effects of this technique last for three posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Lens of Curiosity
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 10-meter radius. That target begins to feel a stronger sense of curiosity than before, potentially increasing their desire to speak with the clan member. This doesn't change their manner of reasoning in any fashion; it's more of a tool used to try and subtlely sway the target to be more interested in what the clan member has to say. This technique lasts for up to three posts, and the effects of this technique last for three posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Pensive Hand
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 10-meter radius. That target begins to feel a stronger sense of pensiveness than before, potentially causing the target to reflect more fully on their actions and reconsider if they were truly sound. This doesn't change their manner of reasoning in any fashion; it's more of a tool used to try and subtlely sway the target into reevaluating their biases. This technique lasts for up to three posts, and the effects of this technique last for three posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Fragmented Imagination
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 10-meter radius. That target begins to become more imaginative, potentially allowing them to consider possibilities that they would normally discard as impossible. This doesn't change their manner of reasoning in any fashion; it's more of a tool used to try and encourage an interchange of dialogue between the target and other parties. This technique lasts for up to three posts, and the effects of this technique last for three posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Song of Courage
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 10-meter radius. That target begins to feel a stronger sense of courage, allowing them to move past petty fears that might have inhibited them from action, potentially allowing them to ignore distractions, petty negative thoughts, and even minor amounts of pain. This doesn't change their manner of reasoning in any fashion; it's more of a tool used to try and motivate a person into action. This technique lasts for up to three posts, and the effects of this technique last for three posts.

C-Rank ~Heiwa-sei • The Monk's Salutation
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member channels pacifying chakra into a 20-meter radius. Those in the target area begin to feel less aggression towards their opponents and others in their vicinity, reducing the likelihood they will attack using full force or lethal methods. The more significant loss of aggression can slightly change the reasoning of those affected, potentially causing them to stop engaging in violence and be more amenable to dialogue. This technique lasts for up to four posts, and the effects of this technique last for four posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Optimism's Relief
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 20-meter radius. That target begins to feel a strong sense of optimism, making the target more likely to see the positives of both their current situation and the potential future before them. This technique lasts for up to four posts, and the effects of this technique last for four posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Bystander's Intrigue
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 20-meter radius. That target begins to feel a strong sense of interest in the clan member or another individual within the range of this technique, making them more attentive to what that individual says or does. This technique lasts for up to four posts, and the effects of this technique last for four posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Trap of Impulse
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 20-meter radius. That target begins to feel a strong sense of impatience in whatever task they are currently performing. This increases the likelihood that they will commit an oversight, make mistakes, or disobey orders they perceive to be of relatively small importance. This technique lasts for up to four posts, and the effects of this technique last for four posts.

B-Rank ~Heiwa-sei • The Monk's Prayer
B-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member channels pacifying chakra into a 30-meter radius. Those in the target area begin to feel considerably less aggression towards their opponents and others in their vicinity, significantly reducing the likelihood they will attack using full force or lethal methods. The more significant loss of aggression can slightly change the reasoning of those affected, potentially causing them to stop engaging in violence and be more amenable to dialogue. This technique lasts for up to five posts, and the effects of this technique last for five posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Divine Berserker
B-Rank Ninjutsu
A potentially dangerous technique, the clan member uses the Yokuatsugan to the opposite intended effect. After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 30-meter radius. That target begins to feel considerably increased levels of aggressiveness to those in their vicinity. This increases the likelihood that the target will act rashly, speak abusively towards others, and even attack standers-by if their levels of aggression are high enough. This technique lasts for up to five posts, and the effects of this technique last for five posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Purifying Tears
B-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 30-meter radius. That target begins to feel considerably increased levels of sadness. This decreases the likelihood that the target will remain motivated to continue in their current course of action or remain obstinate in a divisive opinion, and it may cause them to even break down into tears. This technique lasts for up to five posts, and the effects of this technique last for five posts.

A-Rank ~Heiwa-sei • The Monk's Mediation
A-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member channels pacifying chakra into a 45-meter radius. Those in the target area begin to feel significantly less aggression towards their opponents and others in their vicinity, potentially stopping affected targets from using full force or lethal methods of combat, if not quashing their desire to fight entirely. The significant loss of aggression can significantly change the reasoning of those affected, potentially causing them to stop engaging in violence and be more amenable to dialogue. This technique lasts for up to five posts, and the effects of this technique last for five posts.

~Heiwa-sei • Eternal Love
A-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member selects a single target within a 45-meter radius. That target begins to feel a powerful affection for the clan member or another individual in the range of this technique. This can be translated by the target in many ways, such as a profound brotherly love, a love founded on principle, or even romantic love. This significantly increases the likelihood that the target will be willing to comply with the directives and requests of the individual assigned as the focus of their affection. This technique lasts for up to five posts, and the effects of this technique last for five posts.

S-Rank ~Heiwa-sei • The Monk's Peace
S-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra through the Yokuatsugan, the clan member channels pacifying chakra into a 60-meter radius. Those in the target area will lose practically all aggression towards their opponents and others in their vicinity, likely reducing any violent action to direct self-defense if not stopping fighting altogether. The massive loss of aggression will likely compel targets to change their reasoning, very likely causing them to stop engaging in violence and open themselves up to dialogue. This technique lasts for up to six posts, and the effects of this technique last for six posts.

I'm not going to even check the jutsu for this yet, because the entire clan seems to be predicated on a erroneous train of thought that I think strongly seeps into the level of power playing.

This is not aggressive suppression, this is action suppression. To the point of hypnosis. One can fight without aggression, arguably one could kill without aggression. If someone's action is out of duty, respect, protection, defiance, etc, all of these are not "aggressive" and suppressing aggression, or even violent intent, would really stop them. What if someone is acting out of defense, their goal their isn't violent, or aggressive, its survivalistic.

If the intent of the clan is to suppress AGGRESSION, it need to be worded in such a way that it is suppressing aggressive emotion, not suppressing action.

If the intent of the clan is to suppress combat action, it needs to be modeled in such a way that it is balanced.
Quote:
The Yokuatsugan can also suppress other emotions, causing others to rise in its place, following the Emotion Wheel.
I also don't understand this line at all and it needs to be explained better I think.

Okay, so the intent, based on what I could glean from the previous app itself and Zekka’s app, was suppression of combat action through the manipulation of emotion, though it seems that the opposite would also be possible. The intent isn’t to stop people from defending themselves, which I though I had stated in the passive so I apologize if I didn’t spell it out well enough. The original effect also didn’t really state any sort of resistance while this one does. I guess I’m struggling to understand what needs more clarity.

Since the intent is to suppress offensive combat action through the manipulation of emotions, do you have suggestions on how I might more accurately word the ability?
