The Legendary Crabman
C6, Big Red, Crabcakes, Ugly Mother-

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
(Give me shiny stuff)

General Information Age: 19
Gender: Male
Height: 6'8''
Weight: 214 Lbs
Physical Features:
  • Face/head: Crabman's head is the shape of a lobster's, covered in soft, dark-pink chitin, widening out down the neck. His eyes hang stupidly from independently-mobile stalks roughly 7 inches long each. The compound eyes themselves seem to be split at the middle by an horizontal streak and are pearl-coloured. His mouth is beige and resembles a crab's, composed of four symmetrical pincers that work inwards. Below his eyes and above where the "nose" would be reside two whisker-like bristles that go down the sides of his mouth, as well as four shorter ones that grow with age. Lastly, where the top of his neck meets the base of his head lie sets of gills at each side.
  • Body: Due to hybrid vigour, good nutrition and intense exercise, Crabman's body has grown strong, healthy and huge. Unlike his head, the mixture of genetic codes has not impacted the rest of his physical appearance much. His body is the same shape as a human's, with the only differences being the soft red chitin enveloping most of it and the overall pink tone of the lighter skin. His torso is robust and well-defined, while his legs are long and thick like logs of driftwood. Over his hands the chitin is conjoined into a full piece, making them look like pincers from the right angle, but underneath his fingers are independent and function normally.
  • Notable Features: His genetic code has awarded him with a couple more noticeable features. The first of which are the Setae. Setae are thin, hard hair-like bristles that cover his body, although more prominently along his back, nape, back of the arms and front of the legs. Secondly, and more noticeably, Chitin covers several parts of his body, although it is soft in texture and practically indistinguishable from the rest of his pink skin.
Clothing/Accessories: Assembled in a rush aboard a merchant ship, Crabman's wardrobe consists of light, inconspicuous clothing that allows freedom of movement and conservation of heat. Starting with what's under the belt line, he wears dark fisher pants that squeeze the ankles and can be tied with metal-pointed laces, as well as footwraps to hide the pink hue. For his torso, he wears a woolen grey tunic underneath a seaweed-coloured, button-up hooded coat.

Personality:
  • GeneralShow
Despite being on the same cognitive capacity as an average human of his age, Crabman's upbringing in sheltered conditions has rendered him a curious and naive creature, subject to getting himself in trouble easily. He can barely contain himself when he finds something interesting, such as a spectacle or an object that glints in just the right way, and won't have the social finesse to smoothly disarm the situation if this lands him in trouble. However, due to having experienced first-hand how people can react to his appearance and having to improvise to survive, he has developed a cautious, more subtle approach to whatever life may bring him.
He is, at his core, a truly joyful and warm being. He rejoices when witnessing happiness and cheer and will gladly double the enthusiasm. Conflict and hostility are nothing but strange, unnecessary quirks of life to Crabman. In his mind, life is beautiful when everyone gets along and people should be more concerned with what they do for each other rather than what others can do for themselves. This is reflected on how quick he is to offer his help when he sees someone in a predicament. Overall, Crabman is a creature of curiosity, amity and a strong love for life and the world and is more than willing to show it when given the opportunity.
  • Hopes/Dreams:
    • Finding out what happened to his creator
    • Reconnecting with the other hybrids
    • Being accepted by humans
  • Fears:
    • Rejection and persecution
    • Intense heat
    • Being made into crab-cakes
  • Likes:
    • Shiny things
    • Seaweed
    • Children
  • Dislikes:
    • Mirrors
    • Dryness
    • People that eat crab
  • Quirks:
    • Picking up shells, pieces of glass, stones, coins, anything with a shine
    • Blowing bubbles from his mouth
    • Walks in a sway-like motion, as if permanently on a ship
  • Combat Mentality: Given his naturally peaceful nature, Crabman's first instinct in a confrontation would be to flee and hide rather than to escalate the situation. Not necessarily out of fear or retaliation (although he is definitely not above cowering), but also out of a deep respect for human life and a disdain for violence. When, however, fleeing is not an option, Crabman will opt for a close quarters method of battle. His lack of aptitude for Ninjutsu and Genjutsu limits his choices and so he makes use of his pugilistic method of combat. With a healthy respect for an opponent's abilities and a somewhat childish approach to a fight, Crabman will try to strike quick and true with any combination of his techniques to try and dissuade his enemies from pushing further. Killing an opponent is not on the menu for Crabman and the very idea of causing someone's death revolts him.

Abilities and Concentrations
Hybrid Vigour: Crustacea:
Having their entire genome mixed and hybridized with crustacean DNA, this individual has manifested several attributes not common to the normal human being.

Compound Eyes: A trait of the rare mantis shrimp, these eyes possess 16 different types of photoreceptor cells. Thus, they are able to discern more colours and more intensely than any other eye in the animal kingdom. While this does not confer direct night-vision, it does allow for a pseudo-form of the latter via spectral tuning. The user, with practice and the appropriate techniques, can intensify and diversify colours through their perception in order to better discern shapes, forms and lighting without harming themselves. Coupled with the fact that both eyes have trinocular vision and are mounted on mobile stalks, the user has two independently-moving eyes capable of depth perception and absorbing ultraviolet, far red light and everything in between.

Setae: Commonplace in most crustaceans, setae are rough, hair-like bristles that dot the bodies of crabs and lobsters alike. These bristles are essentially responsible for the senses of touch, hearing and smell, and work just as well underwater as they do at surface. Given that crustaceans cannot feel anything through their hard chitin and lack noses, setae provide them with both mechanical and chemical input. At their normal state, they're as effective as a normal human's senses, though with training and focus their user may be able to enhance and unite these inputs to superhuman levels, as well as induce Setae growth with chakra for weapons or tools.

Chitin: This person's body produces chitin like most species of crustacean. While their body is already covered in it in certain spots, this chitin is soft and indistiguishable from skin when it comes to durability. However, with the use of chakra and after rigorous training, this individual is able to produce chitin at a heightened speed, resilience, preferred shape and in a localized manner.

Gills: Despite possessing a normal human respiratory system, a crustacean hybrid also possesses a set of gills that allow them to breathe unimpeded underwater with zero setback.

Deep Sea Gigantism: Blessed with the DNA of several deep sea creatures, this person is unnaturally big for a human and will continue to grow well after the age at which most people would stop, although this does not reflect on their physical attributes (i.e. Strenght, Speed) in any way.
Concentrations
Ninjutsu
Suiton:
Suiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Suiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Suiton affinity. Suiton has a passive enveloping effect.
Passive (Enveloping)Show
Suiton's effect is enveloping, meaning that suiton passively surrounds anything that it makes contact with. Suiton techniques that do not last over periods of times (i.e, exploding techniques) drench their opponents, but long term techniques will envelop anything they come in contact with and maintain a hold on it with the 3/4th strength of the technique, rounded down. This means that if a suiton wave is shot forward with 17 strength, it will envelope and move anything with it that does not have more than 12 strength to resist it. This allows Suiton to fill a very powerful role in eliminating tools from opponent's access and capturing targets.

Jutsu
TaijutsuShow
King Crab's FistShow
King Crab's Fist:
A fighting style designed to evolve and accompany Crabman's personal growth (as well as take into account his unique physique), King Crab's Fist is the ultimate in Crab-Humanoid self-defense. It encompasses all of Crabman's concentrations and abilities to reflect on distinct skills, so while its main purpose is to do battle, it also serves as the foundation for his stealth and perception capabilities as well. Currently, it is a style focused on impactful, close-quarters combat as well as stealth and evasion. It requires the following concentrations: [Close Quarters Combat], [Rigid Structure] and [Stealth]
[King Crab's Fist • Spectral Tuning]
E-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisites: Compound Eyes
Making use of their compound eyes, the wielder can adjust the photoreceptors in their sclera to amplify, diversify, diminish or simplify the absorption of light and colours in their sight. This allows them to adjust to low-light or bright environments both at surface and underwater in order to maintain their eyesight and prevent harm. This does not protect from chakra-born sources of light.

[King Crab's Fist • Flowing With the Currents]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
With their keen eyesight and understanding of human perception, this individual has learned how the attention span of the average person works. With a quick look, they can spot the flow and movement of people, as well as the typical manner of dressing, walk and posture of these crowds. On its own, this technique does nothing but provide information of the user's situation, but it can be used as the foundation for several other techniques.

[King Crab's Fist • Shoaling]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Once the user has analyzed a location, its current populace and the overall risks and lines of sight, they can then apply their knowledge to move almost seemlessly through said space. This technique does not allow one to become invisible. Rather, it makes the user blend into the atmosphere of whatever location they are in, drawing no attention to themselves and thus, not being object to curiosity. This makes it so that average people and untrained vigils are unlikely to take much notice, while anyone trained to spot abnormalities will be able to point out the user. This technique does not override common sense such as previous knowledge of clothing or attempting to hide while walking in a vast, plain expanse with no cover or blindspots.

[King Crab's Fist • Path of the Decorator Crab]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Drawing from their knowledge of their surroundings, the user is able to quickly improvise a disguise or camouflage in tight spots. Collecting clothes, covering oneself in mud, hiding between bushes and much more, the user can quickly sift through their surroundings to figure what place would make a good hiding spot or what equipment would allow them to blend into the community that surrounds them. This technique is intended to fool the untrained eye and the occasional distracted guard, and is easily seen through by capable hunters or broken by common sense (i.e. attempting to pass as an enemy when confronted by one of their superiors).

[King Crab's Fist • Pincers Up]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The basis of many of this user's techniques, this technique serves as a preparatory stance. Placing their left foot forward and their right foot backward at an angle, the user keeps their closed fists at eye level, with their left fist slightly forward, in the traditional pugilist's stance. This allows them to prepare to defend against an opponent's attacks, while maintaining their fists at the perfect position to riposte, as well as build the user's own offense. Overall, it is a stance that prevents the user from being caught off-balance, and that allows them to adjust their position and angle of attack at a moment's notice.

[King Crab's Fist • Crab Jab]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisites: [King Crab's Fist • Pincers Up]
The most basic of all strikes from the Pincers Up stance, the jab consists of a quick and sharp punch thrown from the lead hand and aimed at the enemy's head. It's the easiest and less taxing of any punch, and can be used consistently to maintain an opponent at a distance even in close quarters combat or to set up more damaging combinations.

[King Crab's Fist • Crab Cross]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisites: [King Crab's Fist • Pincers Up]
Carrying considerably more power than the jab, the cross is the second punch most pugilists learn. Consisting of a straight punch thrown with the rear-hand in unison with a twist of the back foot to place more weight behind the blow, it is seen as a quick and efficient way to punish an enemy backpedalling or to complement a series of jabs. It's purpose is to hit hard enough to daze, and depending on the strength behind it, can even knock some teeth loose.

[King Crab's Fist • Sudden Sway]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Lowering their guard and standing on the balls of their feet, the user relinquishes the grounded power of the Pincers Up stance, replacing it with speed and freedom of movement. In this stance, the user is free to dance around and enjoys an easier time at dodging and positioning themselves either to gather their bearings or to set up the next attack. While in this stance, the user enjoys a +3 to their Speed, but their lack of grounding and preparation incurs a -3 to Strength.

[King Crab's Fist • Sally Lightfoot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Intended as a surprise tool to break up a fight's tempo, the user can from any previous position (so long as one of their feet is on the ground) leap forward with their front foot. This can be done in an instant, and will allow the user to reach forward in pursuit of a target. The stance commences with the leap and ends when the user lands. While in this stance, the user enjoys a +3 to Strength thanks to their own bodyweight being behind any potential strike, but suffers a -3 to Speed as they cannot move as effectively while airborne. It is typically used to deliver a strike from above with added force, but leaves the user wide open to further attacks.

[King Crab's Fist • Clinch]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Putting the close in Close Quarters Combat, the Clinch is essential to any pugilist's arsenal. Using their arms to tie up an opponent's torso, shoulders or neck, and their own body's weight and center of balance to keep them in check, the user is able to restrain an enemy to their place if their strengths are equally matched, and able to move them around for better positioning if the user's Strength is 5 points above the enemy's.

[King Crab's Fist • Infighting]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Intended to be used in conjunction with Clinch, but not exclusively, this technique is built to give the user options when the space to fight is almost non-existent. As they Clinch, the user is able to throw punches at their opponent's torso, ribs and organs included. It is meant to punish the enemy and cause them to stagger if their strengths are closely matched, but can easily be damaging if the difference in Strength is substantial.

[King Crab's Fist • Eyes on the Prize]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Utilizing both of their eyes independently, the user abuses their anatomy to gain an advantage. Given that their eyes are capable of depth perception and independent movement on their own, the user can not only use them to analyze and search for things, signs and people quickly, but they can also use this ability in battle to keep an eye on multiple opponents or attacks, never truly losing sight of an enemy.

[King Crab's Fist • Pincer Clutch]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisites: [King Crab's Fist • Clinch]
After having caught their opponent in a Clinch, the user may then progress to a more dominant position. They will attempt to hook one of their arms around the opponent's head as well as their inside arm, positioning both as if they were side-to-side, but facing opposite directions. If their strengths are between 5 points of each other, this technique will simply hold the enemy in place. However, if the user's Strength is at least 5 points higher than the enemy's, they will incur a -1 to Endurance per post for a maximum of two posts as the nerves and blood vessels that supply oxygen to their brain are restricted. This can easily knock-out an opponent if the difference in strengths is too great.

[King Crab's Fist • Crab Hammer]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisites: [King Crab's Fist • Pincers Up]
Swaying with their hips and at an opportune moment, the user will attempt to dig their rear hand into the opponent's solar plexus at an upward angle. This is meant to press into their ribcage and to force all air out of their opponent's lungs. If executed correctly and if the user's Strength is higher than the opponent's, this will result in a -3 penalty to the opponent's Speed as their ability to move and breathe properly has been impaired.

[King Crab's Fist • Centurion's Advance]
B-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisites: [King Crab's Fist • Pincers Up]
Quickly stepping forward with their back foot, the user attempts to get inside the opponent's guard before they get the chance to evade. Once this is accomplished, they will use their rear (previously front) hand to land a hook into their enemy's gut. They will then follow this hook with an oblique punch at their solar plexus and then an uppercut to the jaw to lift them off the ground. Lastly, as their opponent floats, the user will step forward with their back foot (previously front) once more and finish the combination with an arching overhead blow from their rear hand to the opponent's jaw while they are mid-air. If performed correctly, this should send the opponent tumbling backwards across the ground and leave them with considerable damage to the torso and jawbone.

History
Historical AccountsShow
Curious, oddly cute and overall an affront to God, the creature known as Crabman came to life inside an underwater facility built on the coast of the Land of Sharks. Fascinated by the physical traits of the local Shuryo clan, a talented and scientifically driven rogue medical-ninja set to emulate the hybridization with several other animal species. Despite many failures, there were a few successes, of which Crabman was one. Combining the DNA of a king crab and a lobster into a human embryo, he managed to engineer a balanced harmony between the genetic codes, which expressed themselves into a humanoid body with several crustacean traits. For all effects and purposes, Crabman was a human baby, just very ugly and with a penchant for seaweed and shiny things.

His infancy was spent in this facility, his quarters consisting of a medium-sized chamber that was equipped with a deep, salt-water pool as well as a bed and a pair of toys. Most of the child's days were filled with swimming and running around, taking all the tumbles a toddler must take, all under constant supervision from his creator and his assistants of course. For them, Crabman was C6, the result of colossally expensive research into the benefits of human hybridization. As for Crabman himself, though, he was just the more vividly coloured, funnier-looking version of the weird pale big people.

Along with him, there were a few other "successes" in the facility, and at times they would catch sight of each other. Sometimes, they would even be lucky enough to be allowed to interact, if the people in charge decided it could be useful to study their cognitive and social development. Between puzzle-solving, playing games or just plain old recess time, it was a chance for the creatures to socialize and interact with more than labcoat-wearing weirdos. Among Crabman's favorites were a humanoid seal that attempted to juggle everything it could get its nose under, and a humanoid kangaroo that had the annoying habit of punching everything within range if it wasn't entertained. To a point, the latter taught Crabman most of what he knows about defending himself.

This routine progressed through all of his childhood and most of his adolescence until the facility he and his wardens lived in was compromised. Playing God finally caught up with the Creator, who had mistakenly believed he could contain and study a Leviathan Dragon. The behemoth burst through the facility's foundations in its rage and flooded every chamber, hallway and laboratory, killing many and wounding more. In the chaos, Crabman was swallowed up by the tidal maw, saved only by his crustacean biology.

When he washed ashore, he tried to seek help with one of the local villages, completely oblivious to the fact most people don't take kindly to half-crab, half-man abominations. The sight of him was enough to startle some of the locals, and before long he had a small mob armed with harpoons and other fishing tools in hot pursuit. Thinking on his feet, Crabman dove back into the sea and swam as fast and far as he could. He swam until his arms drooped and his legs screamed at him to stop. He surfaced just in time to take notice of a merchant's ship that was, unbeknownst to him, bound for the Land of Tea. Taking advantage of the shroud of night, Crabman snuck aboard, stealing enough clothes and food to keep his body warm and his belly full, before hiding with the cargo.

At dawn, he thought to himself, at dawn he would plan his next steps.

All of your taijutsu, in the absence of a style, need to specify which concentrations they're relying on. It may be a more lucrative use of your time to just write up a style and list all the concentrations as a requirement so you dont' have to specify it on each jutsu.

Otherwise great use of a "body mod" for your ability slot. Very interesting. Let us know when you fix that and I'll 1/2
