[Family Crest if Applicable]
General Information Type: House
Village: Sunagakure no Sato
Size: Medium, 1 Head Family and 11 branches
Traits: Takagari family members have bright multicolored hair styles. As a custom these hairstyles are highly stylized and primed, but cut short so that it does not extend to the shoulders.
Traditions: When a child is born in the House, an egg is chosen from the House’s roost and places it with the child. The egg is supplied with chakra by the mother everyday, letting it grow stronger and over a longer period. The bird will grow alongside the child in real time. Children are named after either Objects in the Sky, Weather, or Birds or they are the child of two Families of Suna, they will have a second name based on the Desert.
Influence: The Takagari manage the Trained Falcons that the Village uses for long distance communications.
History The Takagari Family started back when they were still nomadic desert wanderers. Shortly after the Founding of Sunagakure, they were led to the Fledgling village by the vultures in the sky. They have always lived with the birds and treated them like family. They offered their services as bird tamers in service to the community.
Their birds hunted for protein in lean times and kept a watch out for sandstorms to give the residents enough time to safely and calmly shelter in place. As the ranks of Shinobi started to expand, their own children also took notice. Many of them failed at first because of their dependency with their Feathered brethren. But during the scorpion infestation, the teamwork between the two was especially on display as they cleaned out the vast majority of them. The next wave of Shinobi included Bird tamers. With no Family name before this, they took the title of Takagari and used that.
As the birds became more used in shinobi applications, The houses were formed. And over time, the houses became as individual as the shinobi under the roofs. Individuality was one of the key aspects for the family.
The motto of “The Intersection of two wishes. The Effort of Two” is taught to all their children. This highlights that the Human and the Bird both have needs and wants, but to obtain these goals the two individuals must put forth a singular effort to accomplish them.
Shinobi Information Definitions:
The FlockShow
Takagari don’t refer to themselves as a family amongst each other, rather they are a flock of individuals. The birds, though they may be of different species are all treated at the same level as the Shinobi they are partnered with. The Dynamic between partners can be closer to Brother and sister than of friends.
Flock HierarchyShow
- House 1 is known as the Head of the Family. They make the executive decisions for the family at large and are the most diplomatic. But that doesn’t mean they are the top of everything. The Flock persist because of the strength of all of its members.
- House 2 is the House of Rituals. Even for the other two totems, they perform the totemic rituals and oversee the Nesting of all Takagari children.
- House 3 is the primary Training House for the Family. Filled with instructors and specialists, Takagari can always find someone to help within their halls.
- House 4 takes care of the Falcons for Sunagakure. The center of their actual household holds the roost where all the eggs are stored and cared for.
- House 5 are the Educators. They handle most of the academic work of their children before the academy.
- House 6 are referred to as the Nest Builders. Whenever a new family is created, they will construct a household for their small nest.
- House 7 are the Gatherers. The biggest room in their homes is the kitchen, where they prepare all the meals for the entire family. They are not servants, but have a joy of cooking and tend to prepare elaborate meals, especially for those carrying a child.
- House 8 is the House of the Advisors. Sometimes referred to as the Owls, they tend to live the longest and will answer any questions to the curious that does not pertain to Training or Academics.
- House 9 tends to the crops on their lands. Working with the Naegi, they supply protective crows in return for cultivated plants.
- House 10 is in control of the finances. The paychecks of the Shinobi and merchants are sent to them first. Taxes, bills, and expenses are taken out and then the shinobi are handed two purses. One for the Human and one for the Bird. Equal cut. This process pays for all their needs, food, clothing, shelter, water, and tools. So the purses they obtain are for wants.
- House 11 is the artist. They are known for their exceptionally flamboyant hairstyles, but they also take care of the hair for all members of the family. Many also work in barber shops for the citizens of Sunagakure, tending to their locks just as if they were family, but for coins.
- House 12 is the merchants. They operate stalls through Sunagakure and also procure supplies and contracts for the Flock.
TotemsShow
Three specific Breeds of Birds symbolize the bond they have between them. The Falcon, The Peacock, and the Condor. The individual houses are represented by the Clan’s crest on a silhouette of the Totem Bird with slight variations. Houses 1, 4, 7, and 10 have the Taka Totem. 2,5,8, and 11 have the Kujaku Totem, and 3,6,9, and 12 have the Condor Totem. The main difference between the Houses is how the head is pointed. 1, 2, and 3 point upward, 4, 5, and 6 point downward. 7, 8, and ,9 point to the left, and 10, 11, and 12 point to the right.
TakaShow
Shinobi who are represented by the Falcon Totem undergo training and rituals to enhance their eyesight. Their iris is grown to take over their entire sclera and the pupil grows to the size of the former iris. This just creates the medium through which the Falcon Eyes Jutsu may be used
KujakuShow
Shinobi who are represented by the Peacock Totem typically have eyes encompassing the entire color spectrum. Many of the Peacock techniques are Genjutsu. They also are typically the most primed and fashionable of the Flock.
CondorShow
Shinobi who are represented by the Condor Totem are the most subdued in appearance, but have powerful legs as well as an implanted razor claw on the heel. Many of them specialize in Taijutsu and utilize strong kicks.
Avian LongevityShow
While Bird raising is not unique to the Takagari Family, the motherly ritual referred to as Nesting is, as it allows the Takagari child and Bird to grow up together at the same rate. This also leads to the Bird as having the same Chakra Affinity as the mother. Also the bird, regardless of species, will maintain the same growth rate as the child. For example. A Brown Falcon normally would reach a maximum size of 20 inches, but a Takagari Brown Falcon Partner by the time they reach the age of 16 will stop growing at 50 inches. To the Human partner, they may never notice the Bird is any bigger.
AffinitiesShow
Some of the jutsus taught by the Takagari utilize the natural affinity of the Human or Bird. The bird develops the Chakra Affinity of the mother. But the Human may develop a whole different affinity. In some cases, They can use these affinities in conjunction. For instance a Bird with a Fuuton Cutting Primary and a Human with a Raiton Shocking Primary could apply both to a technique to develop a cutting technique that spreads out. This is not a proper Fusion. Just a coordination between two elements.
Household CelebrationsShow
Roost Eve and Day: (The End of October) Celebrating the Last day of their family's nomadic journey, the Entire Flock gathers together in Costumes at the central compound for an all night feast loaded with foods that would not be on any proper ninja's diet. Festivities last until the sun rise. This is Roost Eve. Roost day starts as the sun rises. Every member of the Flock immediately sets about on their hardest day of work all year. Many of their shinobi accept mission just before the Evening so they can leave first thing in the morning. Roost day gives the Flock a reminder of the work they had to put in to obtain this spot.
Birthdays: Birthdays are an extremely big deal. Not only for the individual, but for everyone of that household. From the time that individual wakes up in the morning to the time they lay down to rest, the first time any member of the Flock sees them, they are greeted with as strong a hug as possible. Sometimes, group hugs happen in normally uneventful moments. This is an old tradition from their nomadic days that remind the individuals that the entire flock will always be connected.
The Circling: This is a celebration no member of the Flock ever wants to participate in. If a member of the Flock actively turns against Sunagakure, the Flock will take matters into it's own hands. But like everything else in the family, this is as loud and flamboyant as possible. Lead by the Houses' Leader, once the missing-nin is located, they are surrounded by banners. Festival drums fill the air. A member of Each House will then step forward. And share loudly the great memories they once had with the Missing-nin. Once the memories are shared, the birds will circle over head. This is indication that at least one person is about to die. This celebration has only been held twice in the House's History. Once when Takagari Sora left with a Sand Falcon egg that she was going to give to Iwa, and the other time when Takagari Tsuna killed everyone in a small village near the Fire Border.

A-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Requires: Sand Angel Form
While in Sand Angel form, the user will drag the target as high as they can and then just let go, letting gravity do the dirty work. Even if the target would be able to do something about the fall, this puts them in a position where the Flying Takagari can press a full advantage.
