General Information Age: 15
Gender: Female
Height: 5'3
Weight: 100 lbs
Physical Features:
- Face/head: Shizune's chestnut brown hair flows behind her as she walks, kept in a long ponytail that trails like a ribbon in her wake. Her hazel eyes, once filled with light and life, are now stoic and stern, hardened by pain and loss. Her lips, though rarely seen past her mask, are a beautiful naturaly shade of pink.
- Body: Shizune's lithe, thin body is fully developed, and at one time, was the envy of her peers. What unmarred skin she has is soft as velvet, pale white in color, and her various assets are appealing to say the least.
- Notable Features: 70% of Shizune's body is covered in scars. These scars are the result of intense torture, and include burns, cuts, gouges and stabs. While you could find a sizeable scar just about anywhere on her body, her face is one of the worst; a large series of cuts and burns that cover the entire right half of her face, and her lower jaw, leaving only her left eye and left forehead mostly undamaged. This is complete with a Glasgow smile from ear to ear. These old wounds are even more noticeable given how beautiful and soft her skin used to be, and are a constant reminder of what she's been through.
Her mission attire typically consists of a black flak vest and a dark blue long sleeved shirt, with a dark red scarf covering her neck, trailing behind her while she moves. Her black gloves and black boots cover her hands and feet, and her dark blue pants come with multiple cargo pockets. She wears a black belt, which carries her shuriken holsters. This is of course paired with her various weapons and tools, detailed in her weapons section.
MasksShow
This black Kitsune mask covers Shizune's entire face, and is usually worn on missions and official assignments. The eye slits are cut so as to not restrict her field of vision.
This simple black and red mask is Shizune's typical day to day wear. It has a lack of any unique features, and is made of malleable leather, making it surprisingly comfortable for everyday wear.
This mask, covering all of Shizune's face save for her left eye, was made for her by her friend Etsuko, the same woman who saved her from her torturous fate. Etsuko, having a love for Kinstugi, put the mask together using various pieces of white porcelain, holding the entire mask together with golden inlay. While rare for her to wear due to it's flowery and pretty patterns, when Etsuko persists, Shizune will relent and wear the mask as a show of friendship.
- General: Where once a proud, flamboyant woman stood, nothing but a shell of what once was remains. That is the simplest way of describing Shizune. Having gone through a living hell, Shizune happy go lucky personality from youth is dead, her sass replaced with a eerie stoicism and unusual silence. Where once she aimed to stand out and be the center of attention, now she only wishes she could pass through a crowd unnoticed. You'll rarely find her out and about the village without a purpose, be it training or gathering supplies or necessities for survival. There is little that she does for recreation nowadays, despite the urging of what few friends she has left.
In the past, Shizune's radiant voice could lift a room to high spirits, and the artistic movements of her violin would cause ears to tingle with joy and excitement. However, that time has passed, and it has been far too long since anyone has heard Shizune do anything involving music. Without her Zankyō, all of Shizune's previous love for music has been shattered, just like her prized violin. The few things that keep Shizune going are the few human attachments that she has left, and the hope that maybe one day something will change. One day, maybe she'll wake up and everything will be better again. She doesn't have the will to do anything drastic or self endangering, but it's clear to most that see her that any love Shizune used to have for life and it's many wonders is gone.
The only thing that keeps Shizune in the active military of Kumogakure is the knowledge that she isn't self destructive, and she's still very good at her job. Her fractured mentality has given rise to a skillset that lends itself very well to wetwork and espionage, and the woman is still more than capable of following and giving orders on a team. She lives for the mission, it's what gets her through the days now. Every hour not spent on mission is spent preparing or training for a mission. The connections she makes and the bonds she forges typically have their foundation in the shinobi lifestyle, and what little joy she still feels is gained from lifting up and promoting her allies. In that way, there's a bit of catharsis; She takes pride in knowing that her allies shine forth, while she sits back in the darkness and pushes them forward. And it is these feelings, performing missions for the village and supporting her allies, that keeps Shizune moving forward. - Hopes/Dreams: That one day, things can go back to the way they were.
- Fears: Losing allies.
- Combat Mentality: Shizune functions best when striking from the shadows; her skillset lends itself well towards the works of an assassin. Shindoton is used for a variety of offensive and utilitarian purposes, and genjutsu allows for misdirection and sneak attacks. Her skill with her ninjato and specially made arrows combine well for the uses of ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu, making her a well rounded generalist.

- 2x "Whistle Blades" - These Wakizashi, measuring 30 cm each, have a unique but simple modification in the form of metal tubing running through the blade. This leaves a small opening at the tip of her blade, which whistles while she swings the blade around. This whistle can be heard audibly up to 20 meters away, and makes for a great genjutsu trigger. These Wakizashi are kept strapped to her outer thighs, the hilts dangling right next to where her hands rest.
- 10x "Whistle Arrows" and 10x Regular arrows. Whistle arrows are built the same as regular arrows, with the sole exception of small holes drilled into the shaft of the arrows, causing them to make an audible whistling noise as they fly. Anyone within 20 meters of the arrow can clearly hear the whistling sound, allowing her to capture targets within genjutsu using the whistle as a trigger. Both arrows are kept in a quiver slung diagnolly across her back, for easy arrow drawing over the right shoulder. The arrows are kept in two separate holsters within the quiver, allowing her to easily choose which arrow she needs.
- 1x Yew Shortbow, measuring 90 cm from limb to limb, attached to her quiver for easy drawing and storage.
- 10x Shuriken, kept in two small holsters that Shizune attaches to the front of her belt, one sitting over each hip.

First Ability: Silent Chakra | Having developed a stunning aptitude for assassination and stealth, Shizune's chakra has taken on a unique quality, allowing her to muffle the sound of any jutsu that she produces. This results in her techniques essentially being silent as they perform their effects, if she desires them to be silent. In order to hear the minute sounds produced by techniques cast by Shizune, her opponent must have a perception technique to enhance their hearing, and this technique must be of a rank equal to or higher than the control of the jutsu cast, in accordance with the following chart:

YoshinShow
Yoshin Kenjutsu:*[Yoshin • Prey's Anatomy]Waterfall Country's samurai are the creators of Yoshin, a style of Kenjutsu honing one's precision to strike more precisely than any needle or arrow at the enemy's inherent weaknesses. The human body is full of natural weak spots and vulnerabilities, and Yoshin takes full advantage of those weaknesses in combat with calculated, precise, intelligent strikes and thrusts to cripple and cut down their opponent. Common joints, unseen nerve endings and nerve clusters, critical tendons and muscle groups, and even vital organs are all fair game to the users of Yoshin. The precision required for this style causes most users of its techniques to prefer short blades such as kodachi and wakizashi, often with serrated edges to maximize damage on the blade exiting the wound, though katana can still be used with this style.
Requires: [Deft Hands], [Sword Weapons], [Medicine] Concentrations.
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Detailed knowledge of the human body's vulnerabilities and weaknesses are fundamental to learning Yoshin. This Discipline represents the practitioner's knowledge of the precise location of all major organs, tendons, blood vessels, and nerve clusters on both their body and the opponent's body. This allows the practitioner to accurately target those areas even in the heat of combat.
*[Yoshin • Break the Antlers]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
With a very quick snapping slash or thrust, the practitioner attacks the back of the opponent's weapon-wielding hand or hands. Opponents hit by this technique must have an Endurance equal to or higher than the practitioner's Speed to avoid being disarmed or losing the use of the affected hand until the end of their next post. This technique is only useful for short term debilitation of the hands and cannot cause any significant long term damage on its own.
*[Yoshin • Glancing Arrow]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Aiming to hinder the opponent's mobility, the practitioner launches a quick snapping slash or thrust at the side of one of the opponent's knees, damaging the tendon and causing the muscles in the joint to flare up. Aside from causing significant pain, an opponent hit by this technique will not be able to fully support their weight on the targeted leg, hindering their mobility and creating additional openings for the practitioner to exploit unless they have an Endurance equal to or higher than the practitioner's Speed.
*[Yoshin • Burrowed Arrowhead]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): *[Yoshin • Prey's Anatomy]
Looking to cause the opponent as much pain as possible with minimal energy or effort, the practitioner launches a quickly snapping thrust meant to slip through the ribcage and lightly cut the outside of one of the opponent's lungs. Aside from causing significant pain, an opponent hit by this technique will have difficulty breathing, causing future techniques they use to take up more Endurance due to oxygen deprivation.
KugapouShow
Kugapou:*Kūgāpou • Soft PawsThis taijutsu style is all about avoidance, with grace. In this style, the user may slap away blades, thrown weapons, and other objects, all in the interests of preserving one's self. However, this style isn't necessarily about avoiding all damage, so much as avoiding the worst damage. In instances where the user is going against an opponent they can't match, they may use this style to avoid fatal injuries and instead receive less serious injuries and live to fight a bit longer, or even another day.
Required Concentrations: Deft Hands, Perception.
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Soft Paws is a bare-handed deflection technique and is used against bladed weapons. At this level, the practitioner is able to read the angles of the attacks to place the flat of their hand against the flat of the blade and push it away without getting cut by the weapon. However, prolonged use of this technique will cause the practitioner to suffer bruises on their hands.
*Kūgāpou • Soft Elbow
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Requirement: *Kūgāpou • Soft Paws
After using Soft Paws to slap a blade away, the practitioner will continue moving forwards while jutting out their elbow. The momentum from the target's original attack that was slapped away, coupled with the sudden defenselessness of the target after having their attack deflected, makes for a powerful counter-attack. The elbow can be aimed anywhere on the torso and above, but is usually aimed at the target's face.
*Kūgāpou • Slight Dodge
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Whenever in a situation where they can't avoid being struck, the practitioner will slightly shift their body. This slight movement allows them to cause the incoming attack to miss any vital organs and cause as little damage as possible.
Flawless AimShow
Flawless Aim:*[Flawless Aim Style • Rapid Reload]This style of combat is favored by shinobi preferring to use projectiles, often serving as a staple for ranged taijutsu users. Focusing on the synergy between their hands and senses, they strive to make their lethal skills reach as far as possible with absolute precision.
Requires: [Projectile Weapons] Concentration.
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After years of training, the practitioner has learned how to quickly and accurately access their ranged weapon stores at all times in combat. This cuts the effective "reload" time by half, up to a maximum speed equal to the practitioner's Speed score. This also applies to returning unused projectiles to their storage containers or switching between types of projectile weaponry.
*[Flawless Aim Style • Tracking]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to read an opponent's movements and adjust their aim accordingly to compensate without penalty. This Discipline allows the practitioner to accurately hit moving targets, though sudden changes in the opponent's movements will still affect accuracy.
GenjutsuShow
[Genjutsu • Phantom Slash]
D=Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Shizune will channel chakra throughout her body while flourishing one of her Wakizashi, making the blade whistle. Those who hear this whistle will be captured by the Genjutsu, which triggers whenever Shizune gets within 1 meter of a target. Once within this range, the target will suddenly see Shizune leap up into the air, aiming a slash for the target's upper body. In reality, this is an illusion meant to draw their attention to a false attack, leaving their defenses weak elsewhere. If the genjutsu has not been activated within 3 posts, It will deactivate harmlessly and the chakra will be wasted.

History
Historical AccountsShow
Shizune's upbringing and childhood were, in stark contrast to her current life, incredibly happy. The young girl took to performance and art like a fish to water, and quickly defined herself by her combination of singing, dancing, and playing violin... all at the same time. Known even at a young age for being the light of a party, when she performed on a stage she attracted the attention of everyone like moths to a flame. This of course only fueled her peppy, spunky nature, and the girl slowly developed into a wonderfully extroverted woman. Before the age of 10, she had already grown attached to a fantastic red and black violin; the instrument that would be known as her Zankyo.
And on top of all of this, she was a fantastic shinobi, one of the few to truly grasp all forms of jutsu before leaving the academy. As a genin, she was the center of attention, both on and off of a battlefield. Her jutsu and skillset was full of flowing movements and bombastic techniques, not to mention their incredible effectiveness. She made everything look easy, she felt invincible, and life was going great for her... Until just after her 13th birthday. The mission seemed simple enough; She was to work with a team of chuunin, under a special jounin, to claim a village that would serve as a foothold for them to expand into the many islands south of Lightning Country. Of course, they were expecting resistance from Kiri, but not nearly the force that they were met with. Shizune's team was wiped out, with only her and their special jounin leader surviving the onslaught.
The two were captured and brought in for interrogation, in an attempt to learn all they could about Kumogakure's plans and movements. It was over a week of pain and agony, so much so that it felt like years before it ended. Shizune was beaten bloody, bones were broken, burns and cuts and lash marks all over, her beautiful skin torn to pieces. The worst part was, she didn't know any of the information Kiri wanted; Only the special jounin leader was privy to any real information, and he died after only the second day. Perhaps they merely wanted to take out their frustrations on her then, knowing that they could get nothing of worth from her. By the last day, Shizune's face was gouged and burned, and her prized violin was broken over her head and left in pieces on the ground before her.
Her very soul was in that weapon, just as shattered as her body was... She likely would've died that day. After all, she was catatonic after her Zankyo was broken, even their torture methods didn't earn a grunt of wince of pain from her. But as they went to execute her, a team of Kumogakure shinobi infiltrated the compound, beat back the Kiri shinobi force, and rescued Shizune. In the midst of this rescue, Shizune simply passed out; she had no energy, no will to fight left. When she came to in a hospital bed, it was an Arashiyama named Etsuko that was watching over her. This woman was part of the force that saved her, she had even carried Shizune out of the Kiri compound herself. She should have been thankful, but in reality, she simply didn't have it in her to be happy about it. Though her body would likely recover in terms of function, her beauty and passion were taken from her.
Returning to Kumo, a shell of who she used to be, without even her Zankyo, Shizune refused to perform any more. Her old jutsu were gone and forgotten, no longer did she want to be the center of attention; she simply wanted to go by unnoticed now. While she wasn't outright excommunicated from the Jinrai clan, she became an outcast, moving off of the compound into a dingy apartment. She burned all of her old bright and colorful clothes, completely changed her weaponry and attire, and began wearing masks just to hide her disfiguring scars from the world. Despite all of this pain and misery, the woman still proved to be an incredible shinobi, taking to her new methods just as easily as her old methods. Combined with numerous psychological evaluations giving the go ahead, the woman was allowed to maintain her position in the Shinobi forces.
That didn't matter to her though... nothing but the mission mattered now. And that's what gets her through the day, knowing that she can still serve the village and her allies in some way. That her life still has some kind of meaning.
