Physical Features: Though he may be short in stature, Kotaru is deceptively muscular due to his intense training. Most of his muscle definition is in his arms, torso, and legs. He is slightly tan with a narrow nose, and he's considered conventionally attractive despite some of his more peculiar features. His facial features have sharpened as he aged. His dark teal hair reaches his waist but is usually styled in a high ponytail with strands framing each side of his face. The Akari's eyes are large, bright, and sea foam green in color. His tongue is unusually dark, being nearly black. As he matured, Kotaru began to develop Akari characteristics that liken him to a demon. He has black four-inch horns on the top of his head that are usually partially concealed by his hair. The skin of his fingertips are black, and his nails are typically painted dark and filed to points. Kotaru's natural reach is 69". His chakra takes the appearance of smoke.

Clothing/Accessories: Kotaru's casual wear is usually rather simple. He typically wears dark clothing, favoring shirts with three-quarter length sleeves and a Akari clan symbol, black and outlined in red, on the backs. Beneath his shirt he wears a long-sleeved, super-cropped, fitted black shirt with a finger loop on the middle finger. Occasionally he wears an ash grey hooded jacket with a black collar and cuffs, or a long cloak with identical design. His pants are normally black or dark grey and stop at the middle of his calves, and sit low on his hips so that his melashiin can manifest more easily. All of his shirts and jackets are tailored to have openings so his eroshiin can manifest without causing much damage to his clothes. He wears dark grey closed-toe ankle boots that have a small, dark red Akari clan symbol on each heel.



Personality:

Kotaru comes across as a quiet young man who has difficultly opening up to people, and he has a tendency to keep to himself and avoid garnering attention - be it positive or negative - in most social situations. Due to his rapid growth as a shinobi, he has developed a sort of confidence that borders arrogance, and when it comes to interacting with others near his age he appears to have a bit of a superiority complex. He has what is typically described as a naturally hostile countenance, and his first impression to others is almost never kind or friendly.

He grew up with very few friends and has a poor grasp of social competency, but he understands social status and hierarchy. He values his own personal space and gets extremely uncomfortable if others get too physically close to him, even if the person is someone he considers a friend or comrade. There are very few people he truly trusts, and he feels that most people who attempt to befriend him have hidden agendas. Due to his upbringing he believes people view him as disposable and will use him as a means to an end, so in turn he treats others as such, with very few exceptions. Kotaru is a survivor and will do almost anything in the name of self-preservation.

Once he opens up to people, he has a morbid sense of humor. Kotaru can be quite cruel, sadistic, and insensitive, and he has a general lack of empathy. He is somewhat obsessed with death and images of death and relishes in watching others bleed and suffer. He has already proved wrong family's belief that he is inherently weak and worthless and he has become a strong and formidable member of his clan and village.

Combat Mentality: Kotaru typically avoids what he deems are unnecessary fights. He prefers to initially keep a fair distance between himself and his opponent. Once he has determined he must fight, he tends to fight his opponent's mind more than body and enjoys watching others suffer mentally. When his opponent is weakened, the boy becomes completely focused on ending his opponent's life as violently as possible.

Kotaru’s birth was welcomed with pomp and fanfare within the lower caste of the Akari clan. Born to a father and mother who both possessed temershiin, his parents nervously anticipated the manfestation of the child’s shiin. Kotaru’s shiin finally manifested at age 4: melashiin, the most stigmatized of shiin. His parents were unable to hide their disappointment; from that day on, they distanced themselves from their son and barely acknowledged his presence, instead giving their full attention to his older brother who had manifested temershiin.

As he grew, it was clear that Kotaru was much smaller than many other boys his age, and his peers - both clan and non-clan members - would tease him for his size, and the frail-looking boy took to staying out of sight and away from others as much as possible. Without ever directly speaking to him, his family became increasingly cold towards him and constantly, passively mentioned the importance of their children consuming their clan members’ shiin in order to bring honor and status to their low-class family. Without realizing it, the boy took the doctrine to heart.

Kotaru entered the academy at age eight and was a mostly average student. When he was ten years old his brother became a genin and their parents urged him to fight an unnecessary battle in the Akari arena against a clan member with melashiin to the death. However, his brother quickly fell before his family’s eyes and was devoured. His parents could barely contain their grief, but Kotaru looked on with impassive detachment. In the boy’s mind, a weakness had been eliminated, and it proved to him that skill, not the shiin itself, determined a shinobi’s worth. Kotaru learned two personal truths that day: unnecessary battles should be avoided, and unavoidable battles should be ended as quickly as possible, as violently as possible.

After graduating from the academy, Kotaru avoided being assigned to a genin team. He struggled to gain acceptance and intended to do so the only way he knew how: by devouring as many of his clan members as possible. In order to do that he trained almost obsessively, often forgoing returning to his parents' house and instead choosing to sleep at the training grounds. Lacking friends, he had several training partners assigned to him by the village. But he quickly gained a reputation for his cruel use of genjutsu against them.

A few months after being promoted to genin, against all odds, Kotaru managed to make friends in two older chuunin: an Enkouten and a fellow Akari. The three formed a shinobi team, and the trio went on mission after mission, all of which were considered too dangerous for a genin. But time and time again Kotaru came back alive and much stronger. By the time he took a break from training and missions to make time to take the chuunin exams, he was much stronger than an average chuunin. Thus, he breezed through the combat portion of his exam, and after the interview he was promoted. It quickly became evident that he was far beyond the level of an average chuunin. After leading a few successful missions, including some solo ones, his superiors assessed he was ready for the next level. After only a month as chuunin, Kotaru was promoted to special jounin.

Kotaru found that he had to learn how to deal with the notoriety that came from becoming a chuunin and then a special jounin at such a young age. The day after being promoted to special jounin, he found himself in the one place he never wanted to be: the Akari arena. He managed to emerge victorious and, to the chagrin of nearly the entire clan, gained several new shiin in the process. Within days after the arena battle, word of his victory had spread so much through the compound that Akari began to discuss his strength within the village proper. Kotaru's superior demanded a reevaluation of his skills and sent him on a dangerous mission in southern Rock Country. After coming back successfully, Kotaru was promoted to jounin two weeks before he turned fourteen. Less than a year later he and the rest of Team 18 were promoted, and Kotaru became the youngest bannin in Iwagakure's history.

Ceremonial Hair Binding
Gifted to him by the Taishou of Iron Country, when received Kota was not directly informed of its qualities until he got home and discovered it on his own. A sleek ribbon made of some metallic cloth with a purple hue to it, its standard function is to bind hair, keeping hair out of the face of samurai when in battle. However, when chakra is applied to to the binder it releases a black smog that covers a 30m radius at 10 speed. The smog has two primary effects - first it functions as an extension of the caster's physical presence, while this doesn’t provide any sensory information, touching it is effectively touching the user. This means any genjutsu that states it is initiated by the user physically touching the target can be initiated by physical contact with the smog instead. Secondarily, the smog is a great conduit for heat, and Katon jutsu used within it are treated as having +5 strength for the purpose of the burning passive. This does not increase the strength of the jutsu themselves, just the burning passive. Kotaru typically wears this to tie his hair into a ponytail.

Left Hip:
• Dagger: A slightly curved dagger with a 9 inch blade and 6 inch hilt, with a tanto sort of pointed tip. The body of the blade is made of a dark grey metal, and the edge of the blade glimmers. It is kept in a hardshell sheath with a singular blue-green gemstone at the mouth of the sheath. Kotaru keeps the dagger strapped to his left hip.

Combat Style: Kotaru approaches fights cautiously and initially keeps a fair distance between himself and his opponent. He always first tries to determine if the fight is absolutely necessary and avoids it if possible, but if he is in serious danger his demeanor changes dramatically and he becomes quite ruthless, fighting to kill. He prefers to weaken his opponent with genjutsu and use his shiiin and katon techniques to fight at mid-range.

AkariShow
The main bloodline of the Akari clan is their shiin. While the size, shape, and abilities of the shiin depends on which chakra the organ is connected to. The shiin, while manifesting itself, is a constant within them. Unlike other similar clans, the shiin is the only thing that alters itself, leaving the Akari's body largely in tact. However, because of this, the shiin is just another part of the body, just as someone's arm or leg.
MelashiiinShow
he first and most common of the shiin is the Melashiin. Connected to the Root Chakra, a melashiin manifests itself as a fleshy protrusion from the skin. They are almost always long and thin, being relatively weak in comparison to all of the other shiin. However, what gives them their usefulness is they have massively high regeneration rates. When damaged, they are able to recur themselves at an astonishing rate, following the rules for regneration without other jutsu being used. Because of such, having a melashiin imparts a -3 [Chakra Pool] OR [Endurance] on the user. Most melashiin are dark red in hue, though there are exceptions. For the most part, those with a melashiin are the lowest caste of the clan, due to having the 'weakest' of the shiin, along with the lowered stamina that it drains from them.
TemershiinShow
The second and second most common of the shiins is the Temershiin. Connected to the Sacral Chakra, a temershiin manifests as a tail of some sort on the user. While the type depends on the user, it is almost always coarse and rough to the touch. Most temershiin are orange in hue, though there are exceptions. Those with temershiin tend to be a good chunk of the ninja population, they are mostly lower ranking ninja.
EroshiinShow
The fourth and relatively uncommon shiin is the eroshiin. Connected to the Heart Chakra, a eroshiin manifests itself as almost fire-like jelly from solid flesh, encompassing the shoulders and branching out into wing-like forms. While incapable of flight by their own, they are aerodynamic, allowing for swift movement even with their added bulk. With an addition of the user's own [Speed], the eroshiin can allow for gliding around a battlefield, jumping from place to place. Most eroshiin are green in hue, though there are exceptions. Members of the clan with eroshiin tend to be spies, scouts, and diplomats, proud of their own speed and ability to get out of any situation.
LacrishiinShow
The fifth and slightly rare shiin is the Lacrishiin. Connected to the throat chakra, a lacrishiin manifests itself as an armor around the user's body. The amount of armor depends on the user's own body. This armor smooth and dull, appearing as as a dim and opaque glass. While the armor has the same durability as others, it is also able to be strengthened in more ways, unlike the others. However, the armor created is almost never offensive in nature, requiring the user to use their own brute force to damage enemies. Most lacrishiin are blue in hue, though there are exceptions. Members of the clan with lacrishiin tend to be bodyguards of those of importance and high ranking members of the clan.
DerghoshiinShow
The sixth and second rarest shiin is the Derghoshiin. Connected to the Third Eye Chakra, a derghoshiin manifests itself as a growth around where the user's third eye would be. The smallest and physically weakest of the shiin, the derghoshiin gives one very simple ability. It is that it is able to shoot out bits of itself at targets. While few other shiin are able to manifest projectile attacks, the derghoshiin are the only ones that are able to manifest chakra-based projectile attacks and fuse differing chakra-based abilities into their projectiles. Most derghoshiin are purple in hue, thought here are exceptions. Members of the Akari clan with derghoshiin tend to be high ranked ninja or diplomats, highly valuing their own [Instinct] that the build up of chakra in their head supposedly gives them. Most clan members tend to respect the words of those with a derghoshiin.
AstrashiinShow
The seventh and most rare of the shiin is the Astrashiin. Connected to the Crown Chakra, an astrashiin manifests itself as a helmet over the Akari's head. Appearing as a partial contradiction, the shiin is slimy, cold, and course at the same time. Appearing more alien in nature than the other shiin, it also commands the most respect. The astrashiin fuses with the shiin, meshing with it in whichever way, depending on the user, the basic shiin, and the astrashiin itself. Unlike other shiin, which are each composite parts, the astrashiin, and those that use them, are adept at fusing different shiin together, making new and beautiful combinations. This leads to many different fusions, such as a phasmashiin with the regenerative powers of a melashiin. Every single astrashiin has shown to be violet in hue, giving that same light color to any shiin that they consume.

Kotaru's melashiin manifests at the base of the spine, and emerges as eight long, thin tendrils that triple his arm's natural reachThe tendrils are wide at the base, approximately 15 inches wide, and taper significantly at the points, making the points approximately 5 inches wide. The tendrils are dark red and almost appear black, like so.

His temershiin emerges from the same opening as his melashiin. The surface of the shiin is rough with sharp, broad scales that protrude slightly upward at an angle. The end of the temershiin diverges into two points: one long and flat with a needle-like end, the other thick and curved inward into a sharp, needle-like point similar to a scorpion's tail. Both points are calcified and are as sharp as kunai. The temershiin is a rusty orange, like so.

His eroshiin emerges from his shoulder blades in the form of two, jelly-like wings. Each wing grants Kotaru more aerodynamic movements in battle. The eroshiin is light and smooth to the touch and has uneven edges. The shiin is a dark, blue-ish green, like so.

Kotaru's lacrishiin covers his body from the neck down, covering even his hands and feet. The majority of armor appears to be covered in tiny, rigid scales that are smooth to the touch. The mantle of the armor has much larger, keeled scales and are much rougher to the touch. The shoulders and upper arms are covered by spaulders made of seven plates; the four uppermost plates end in long, curved 7 inch spikes. Each spike is as sharp as a standard kunai. The lacrishiin is mostly blue, like so, though there are dark purple speckles throughout the armor.

His derghoshiin is simple in shape. It takes the form of a beak-like protrusion at the center of his forehead and curves down to the tip of his nose. It also forms a band across his forehead, covering it. The shiin does not obscure his vision. His derghoshiin is dark purple, like so.

Kotaru's lacrishiin-enhanced melashiin manifests as four dark violet tendrils that emerge from the small of his back. The tendrils are heavily armored, have durability equal to Kotaru's strength, and are covered in spikes their entire length. The spikes point outward and are longer towards the end of the tendrils.

His derghoshiin-enhanced eroshiin manifests from his shoulder blades as two dark violet wings, the edges of which are defined by sharp, fiery contours, resembling the jagged outlines of licking flames. Due to being fused with derghoshiin, this pair of eroshiin is capable of shooting out chakra projectiles.

The astrashiin, purple in hue, takes on an appearance very similar to that of the kabuto helmets traditionally worn by samurai. The bowl shaped main body covers the top and sides of Kotaru's head. The shiin has flared side wings that hang on either side to protect the face from lateral strikes. The astrashiin also contours to cover the bottom half of his face, to create a half-face mask in the shape of a black and purple oni with four large curved teeth.
Second Ability Son of Lamia: the Silver Horned King
After taking part in a ritual deep beneath Iwagakure in the labyrinth known as the Catacombs, Kotaru has obtained the favor of a demon spirit of fear. During the ritual, the spirit used as offering Kotaru's blood, the blood of his brother, and the bond of his comrade - a cutting of the gifted Ceremonial Hair Binding. Due to the spirit's influence, Kotaru's chakra has gained special properties that, in turn, has caused his him to undergo changes that allow his chakra and body to affect the mind and will of others. Those who come into physical contact with Kotaru suffer a flat -3 debuff to their willpower for six posts. Techniques that maintain high control over one's will, such as taijutsu disciplines or abilities that resist willpower debuffs, can counteract this effect. In addition, this ability halted Kotaru's biological aging.

Katon Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Katon affinity. Katon has a passive ignition effect.
Passive (Ingition)Show
Katon's effect is ignition, which means that all katon jutsu, regardless of effect, start and spread fire from their source. Once a jutsu has been performed, the fire from the jutsu spreads at 1/3rd the speed of the technique, rounded down. That means a C-rank katon jutsu that moves at 13 speed would create subsequent fires that spread at 4 speed. These secondary fires require flammable material to continuously spread, otherwise they will burn out on their own.

Additionally, the strength of burns on organic material from katon jutsu is determined by the strength of the jutsu.

This concentration allows for the user to user chakra to affect the biological processes of a living creature. This includes modifying, speeding up, or slowing down the biological processes. Iijutsu is known for its advanced nature and requires precise chakra control to work effectively. It can be differentiate from normal techniques by the faint light green colour of the chakra used in Iijutsu techniques.
Advanced Channeling: NinjutsuShow
This user has superb chakra control, and has learned to perform jutsu by channeling, without the use of hand seals. The user can channel any Ninjutsu that is designed to be channeled, and there are no specified parameters in which a jutsu must fall to be channeled by this method.

Genjutsu with this concentration have a third typing that treads it similar to multi-target genjutsu. Pokerus genjutsu cost more than standard genjutsu, but have a second initiator that is activated from the target, allowing the genjutsu to be initiated and passed to multiple targets through a battlefield.

After performing two quick handseals, Kotaru flicks his thumb and any one of his other fingers. This results in a very small flame igniting on the tip of his finger. The flame is enough to light a small fire, such as lighting firewood. The justu lasts for up to two posts.

Wisp
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru creates up to five, wispy teardrop shaped balls of flames five inches in diameters. The flames produce no heat and are incapable of inflicting burns. The balls float within three feet of his position and up to a foot above his height and cannot move outside of this area. The fireballs move with him but are otherwise immobile and once created Kotaru cannot control their movement or position. Due to the low chakra cost of this technique, Kotaru can maintain this for x number of posts where x equals Chakra Pool/2.

By channeling chakra into his shiin, Kotaru coats his melashiin in katon chakra, which covers the entirety of the tendrils in flames that add a one foot diameter of katon chakra to each tendril, and extends one foot from the tip of the tendrils.

After performing the needed seals, Kotaru extends his pointer finger and a small ball of katon chakra roughly 3 inches in diameter will form at the end of it. The chakra can be launched at a speed and strength equal to his control, and can travel up to 10 meters. The chakra will burst on contact and erupt into a ball of flames 1 meter in diameter.

Twin Spirals
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru clenches his hands into claws and holds them in front of his body. A swirling jet of flames will erupt from each hand and move in a spiral pattern with a diameter of up 15 meters. This justu lasts up to three posts.

Spike
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, a three foot long spike shaped mass of katon forms in Kotaru's hand. Within the next 2 posts, he is able to throw the spike toward a target. Once the the spike hits the target it explodes with the strength of a C-ranked explosion.

Flaming Arc

After forming the needed seals, Kotaru coats his melashiin in katon chakra. Within the next 3 posts, if he swings the melashiin the motion launches the katon in an arc shape that is the same length of his melashiin toward the target at speed equal to his strength.

Firewall
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru creates a wall of flames within 15 meters of his position. Due to his superb chakra control, he can create a wall between 5 and 10 meters in length and height. The wall of flames is a meter thick and it lasts 4 posts before fading.

Hell’s Geysers
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru floods the ground beneath his feet with katon chakra and it will spread around him in a 35 meter radius. If anyone but the user enters the area, up to 10 columns of flames with a 3 meter diameter and a height of 5 meters will shoot from the ground from beneath the target. Kotaru is unable to control when the flaming columns erupt once the jutsu is in place. The jutsu lasts 5 posts.

Devil’s Geysers
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru extends two fingers and a ball of katon chakra roughly 9 inches in diameters will form at the end of them. The chakra can then be launched at a speed equal to his control. On contact, the katon will erupt around the target into a pillar 10 meters tall with a 5 meter diameter. The pillar will burn for two posts before fading.

After forming the needed seals, Kotaru coats his melashiin and/or temershiin in katon chakra. When he swings the shiin the motion launches the katon in an arc shape that is the same length of his shiin toward the target at speed equal to his [Control] and hits with the same strength. The flames are [Control] strength and explode on impact and apply the passive accordingly. The flames can be propelled up to 30 meters before they lose their shape and disperse. The jutsu lasts for 5 posts.

Dragon's Breath

After performing the necessary hand seals, Kotaru takes a deep breath and expels a large stream of flames from his mouth. The stream moves at speed up to [Control] and can hit with [Control] strength. It can reach up to 100 meters long, and is thin for up to 5 meters immediately in front of him before expanding up to 70 meters wide. Due to Kotaru’s impeccable chakra control, he can alter the size of the stream at creation and at any time thereafter. The stream can be maintained continuously for up to 7 posts so long as he holds the final seal; during this time, Kotaru can halt the flames and start them back up again at will.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a condensed 5cm diameter, 3 meter long spear of fire in their hand then throw it at an opponent. At any time during the course of the spear's travel, the user may use Chakra Kai to activate the spear. This causes the spear to rapidly unwind and expand into a 10 meter long, 7 meter diameter whirlwind of fire at a speed of [Control]. On impact, the spear will then explode with [Control] strength.

After the needed hand seals, the user will release katon outward from their body rapidly as the fire twists around them. This means, for example, if they transform into something with claws, they will have claws that can physically be used. For the disguises 5 post duration, if it is damaged by a hit of more than [Control] Strength, the disguise "poofs" from existence. This includes collateral damage caused by striking an opponent that may occur to the disguise.

While doing this, the ninja cannot move through anything or anyone, nor can they supplement it with an attack of any kind. After the quick movement has stopped, there is a brief pause where the user must recover from the movement. Even though it's not a full teleportation, this jutsu uses up one of the 2 teleportations a character can use in a single thread.

*[Ninjutsu • Shadow Assassination Technique]

After performing the correct hand seals the user will disguise themselves in a process similar to the transformation technique, "flattening" themselves and causing them to appear like a semi-opaque solid black image of their flattened self, giving off the visual illusion they are a shadow. The user may then send themselves flying to a nearby target's shadow, within 80 meters, at [Control] Speed. If successful, they will mirror themselves in the users shadow so that they may follow them for up to 5 posts. At any point if the users attempts to attack, the disguise will be released, causing a "poof " of smoke. This jutsu uses up one of the 2 teleportations a character can use in a single thread.

A simple yet vital medical technique, the *[Iijutsu • Bandage Technique] provides its users with the ability to create makeshift bandages out of any suitable material they desire. After channeling chakra into an object (such as a leaf, piece of cloth, etc.), the user is able to apply it to the wound of a patient. Once applied, the selected object will adhere to the flesh around the wound, protecting it from bacteria and other harmful foreign bodies. Objects used for the bandage technique are automatically sterilized in the process. These bandages drain a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attatched to in order to keep them stuck on, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. While not as effective at stopping bleeding as the [Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching] technique, they hold on much better in the case that strenuous movement is necessary.

*[Iijutsu • Sterilization Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
As sanitation cannot always be guaranteed in field operations, this technique provides a quick substitute to traditional sterilization methods. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will channel the chakra throughout his/her upper body (torso, arms, hands, face). This chakra will chew away at harmful bacteria and other foreign bodies on the skin, cleansing it until it is thoroughly sterile, and can be spread to objects, most commonly surgical tools. Of course, this takes both concentration and time, and in order to sterilize the entire upper body, it will take a duration of one (1) post. Users of this technique can also choose to sterilize certain parts of their upper body or the wounds of another person instead for a lesser concentration period. Once they are sanitized, they remain this way until coming in contact with more bacteria.

*[Iijutsu • Blood Clot Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
This highly useful field technique is applied to bleeding wounds to help encourage the coagulation of the blood. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them over the bleeding wound and begin to channel chakra through it. The chakra will began to thicken the blood, causing it to clot. Wounds must be dealt with one at a time, and the number of wounds that can be tended to within the three (3) posts that this technique lasts depends on their size. Small wounds take very little time to clot, while moderate wounds take one (1) post of concentration to clot, and large wounds take two (2) posts to clot. Although this technique stops the bleeding, the wound remains vulnerable and will require further care after this has been performed.

*[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A relatively simple and handy technique to have at hand, *[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to small areas of first degree burns, it's fairly quick to do. For small areas of second degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. This technique is ineffective when applied to larger areas or burns worse than second degree.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
When traditional stitching supplies aren't available, *[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching] truly shines. After performing a short set of handseals, the user will gently place his/her index finger at the base of the patient's wound. Once this is done, the user will lift his/her finger and touch it to the other side of the wound, causing a visible 'stitch' of chakra to appear. This is repeated until the wound has been pulled together. Although precision is key, this technique can still be performed relatively quickly. Small to moderate wounds take very little time to stitch, while large wounds will take one (1) post of work to mend. This technique drains a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attached to in order to keep the stitches going, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. Any intensive or strenuous movements will cause the stitches to break.

*[Iijutsu • Medical Diagnosis Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu

Perhaps one of the most important Iijutsu techniques to date, the *[Iijutsu • Medical Diagnosis Technique] allows its users to probe another's body in search for medical answers. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will begin to channel it into the patient's body. Using this chakra as an internal extension of his/her hand to feel for abnormalities and other issues, the user is often able to determine the problem after some time and concentration. In order for a thorough examination to provide sufficient answers, the user will focus for up to one (1) post, seeking signs of internal and external damage, organ malfunction and disease among other ailments. Although skilled medical-nin have the possibility to work faster, skill cannot be substituted in for thoroughness.

*[Iijutsu • Skin Generation]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Often utilized by medical-nin to heal small, superficial wounds or for producing excess skin to use in skin grafts, the *[Iijutsu • Skin Generation] technique has its number of uses. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will channel it into a small area of skin cells on the patient's body. This chakra will force the skin cells to multiply at an ample rate by confusing this area of the body into its reconstruction stage that is achieved during slumber. As this is a type of regeneration, users must keep in mind that each cell draws from nutrients in the patient's body, and as such, too much can cause serious harm. In order to regenerate medium-sized areas of superficial wounds, it takes one (1) post of concentration. Areas smaller than this take considerably less time. In the case that the skin sample is separate from the body, the cells can be multiplied more quickly than they could be otherwise. These types of samples are generally use for skin grafts. The *[Iijutsu • Skin Generation] technique can be held for four (4) posts.

~Basic Regeneration

While still part of the body, each and every shiin has remarkable regeneration rates. Normally not enough to fully recover in battle, with rest, a shiin is able to recover itself in a few days, even if the manifested organ has been sliced to pieces, as long as the base organ remains in tact, taking chakra from the Akari, forcing them to rest longer than a normal ninja.

After channeling chakra into his melashiin sac, Kotaru enhances the cellular replication of the shiin. This strengthens the shiin by thickening the tendrils, giving them +6 strength. However, the process makes the shiin stiffer and less flexible, which reduces the speed at which they can move by -6. This effect lasts 4 posts.

*[Iijutsu • Numbing]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
This field-oriented technique is used in place of typical anesthetics when they're not at hand. After focusing chakra into the hands, the user will place them over a group of muscles. As the chakra is channeled through the chosen area, numbness will begin to creep throughout it, beginning with the flesh before seeping into the muscle below. Small areas of numbness require very little time, while medium-sized areas (equivalent to half a limb) require one (1) post to numb, and anything larger than an entire limb requires two (2) posts of concentration to numb. This numbing begins where the user has placed his/her hands and spreads outward until the hands are removed. The numbness can only cause pain equivalent to being stabbed with a kunai to be nullified. Once numbed, the effects last for four (4) posts before fading.

*[Iijutsu • Burn Heal]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Burn Treatment]
Yet another step up in the ability to treat burns, *[Iijutsu • Burn Heal] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to large-sized areas of first degree and second degree burns it's fairly quick to do. For medium-sized areas of third degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. Lastly, for small areas of fourth degree burns, it also takes one (1) post of concentration due to the very delicate nature of this type of burn.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Perhaps one of the most dangerous and revered Iijutsu honed by medical-nin, the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel] is no precision instrument. After performing the necessary handseals, the user will begin to focus an ample amount of chakra into his/her hands. Once charged with chakra, the user will attempt to place his/her hands on the target. If the user is able to connect the entirety of his/her palm, the chakra will be released into the opponent's body, slicing tissue, organs and veins up to 4 inches from the surface in an area roughly the size of the user's hand. The skin remains unblemished by this technique, as it only causes small to moderate internal wounds. As this technique is dangerous and mostly uncontrolled, the precision needed to kill instantaneously is lost. The chakra used in this technique is highly visible when first activated and emanates from both hands for a duration of three (3) posts or until contact with the opponent is made.

~Enhanced Regeneration

Going above and beyond the normal regeneration capabilities, a shiin is able to utilize some of the user's chakra in order to restore itself to fighting capacity. While not instant, a shiin is able to recover and rebuild itself in [20-(Endurance/3)] posts. A melashiin is able to recover itself in [20-(Endurance/2)] OR [20-(Chakra Pool/2)] posts instead, based on the user's permanent drain. Either way, the fastest that a shiin can recover this way is in 2 posts. During this time, the shiin is unable to manifest.

Phoenix's Touch
B-Ranked Iijutsu
After focusing chakra into his hands, they'll be coated in green tinged flames. Kotaru will place them over the wound in question and direct the flames to it. As the chakra interacts with the cells and tissues in the area, the wound will begin to regenerate and heal over until there's no remnant of it ever being there. To heal small-to-moderate wounds, it takes some time (3 posts), while large wounds take four (4) post of concentration to mend, and mortal wounds take a total of six (6) posts to fully mend. This technique lasts for seven (7) posts, but due to its chakra-extensive nature, users are not advised to treat multiple large wounds in a single use.

One of the almighty and most highly coveted abilities of medical-nin, the *[Iijutsu • Mystical Palm] technique allows its users to heal wounds quickly and efficiently. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will place them over the wound in question and begin to channel chakra through it. As the chakra interacts with the cells and tissues in the area, the wound will begin to regenerate and heal over until there's no remnant of it ever being there. Of course, this is not done in the blink of an eye. To heal small-to-moderate wounds, it takes very little time, while large wounds take one (1) post of concentration to mend, and mortal wounds take a total of two (2) posts to fully mend. This technique lasts for four (4) posts, but due to its chakra-extensive nature, users are not advised to treat multiple large wounds in a single use.

~Perfect Regeneration

After focusing chakra into his hands, they'll be coated in green tinged flames. Kotaru will place them over the wound in question and direct the flames to it. The flames will seek and burn out the poison within the body, ridding it of A-rank or lower poisons over the (3) posts it takes to work, but also induces an immunity in the patient which lasts for seven (7) posts.

Cleanse

After focusing chakra into his hands, they'll be coated in green tinged flames. Kotaru will place them against the person in question and direct the flames to them. The flames will speed up their healing process and clear them of debilitating effects, such as the blindness from a flashbang or deafness from an explosion, over (3) posts.

At times his eyes seem to move on their own will, rapidly tracking an amount of movements equal to his [Speed]/2.

Kotaru’s work in torture and interrogation has led him to master controlling his body’s physical and mental reactions to lying, fear, and nervousness. His body does not stress sweat, his heart does not palpitate, his voice does not waver or stutter, and he remains completely calm and convincing. His mastery over these physical reactions are useful in other situations besides lying, such as keeping calm in extremely stressful situations and setting aside all fears. Kotaru has such masterful control over these reactions that he becomes quickly aware of any related physical and mental changes.

As someone familiar with torture and interrogation, Kotaru has trained himself to resist such things should he ever be on the receiving end. He has trained to fortify his mind and body against the horrors of torture and interrogation through rigorous training over the years. Kotaru performs a katon technique and then channels chakra for this technique. When the targets sees the katon jutsu, the targets will then see falling, burning ash fall within their field of vision, no matter what direction they look. The ash is thick enough to limit the target's vision to five meters in any direction. This effect lasts for three (3) posts.

Whispers on the Wind
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Kotaru places a finger over his lips and makes a shushing noise. When the targets see this motion, the genjutsu activates. The targets will then hear several different voices whispering, barely audible and unintelligible. They can be quite distracting to the target and make them lose focus momentarily. The genjutsu lasts three posts.

After channeling his chakra, Kotaru makes physical contact with a target to initiate the genjutsu. The target will briefly see a simple vision of Kotaru's choosing. The vision is always simple, vivid, and is only sometimes non-traumatic, such as a face of someone he knows, a room, or a small object. It can be used as a brief distraction or as a way to present a description of something visually instead of verbally.

Spectre's Grip

When the targets sees the katon jutsu, the genjutsu will cause them to see large, ghostly hands emerge from the flames of the katon. Kotaru will channel chakra and then whistle, initiating the genjutsu in anyone who hears the whistle. For the next three posts, the victims of this technique will feel tinges of doubt when listening to other people talk. While the doubt isn't strong, it creates a slight feeling that can be used to dissuade them from following instructions of other people if utilized properly.

Localized Numbness

After channeling his chakra, this technique is triggered when Kotaru makes physical contact with a target. The target will feel a localized loss of sensation at the point of contact which spreads throughout the area of the limb. If Kotaru makes contact with the target’s head, chest, or back, then only that area will be affected. The genjutsu not only eliminates pain in that area, but also makes the target unable to feel anything touching the area for the duration of the jutsu. This genjutsu lasts 5 posts.

Immolation Sensation

Kotaru performs a katon technique and then channels chakra for this technique. When the targets see the flames of the katon jutsu, this genjutsu will activate. The targets will see their immediate area on fire, and any exposed skin will appear to be burning and suffering from second degree burns. The genjutsu lasts for 4 posts.

The Spectre: Infection
C-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, the genjutsu is activated when the target feels the heat from his katon techniques. Once genjutsu is activated, the target will see a dark purple, solid shadow emerge from flames within 20 meters of their position, and then it will immediately form in front of the target. It will then envelop the targets, making them uncomfortably warm and sluggish for one post, where it will follow and stick to the targets no matter what they do. It will then it appear to seep into their skin. For the next three posts, this will lead the targets to believe that the spectre has infected their body, and they will likely worry that it will harm them from the inside.

King's Presence

After channeling his chakra, Kotaru or one of his allies makes a powerful roar or scream. When the targets hear this, they will suddenly feel a full-body blow at [Willpower] strength that pushes them away from the ally who made the roar.

After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru will strike the ground with his shiin. Those who see this motion will immediately feel a force hit them in the back with [Willpower] strength.

Contagion

After performing the needed hand seals, this genjutsu is activated by physical contact with Kotaru. The target will then see a raised red bumpy rash form on their skin. The rash is extremely itchy, which makes the target experience the intense urge to scratch the rash repeatedly. it difficult to focus on much else. If anyone sees the target scratch at this rash, they will then fall into this genjutsu as well, and will see the same rash on previously affected targets. All targets are individually affected by this genjustu for five posts.

Dull Pain
C-Ranked Status Genjutsu
The user does the needed hand seals, and then makes physical contact with the target to trap the target in the genjutsu. For the next 10 posts, any pain that the target feels as if nothing really happened, effectively lessening all pain and nerve responses. The target would still be damaged, but any damage done to them would feel as though it is far less severe than it actually it, and as such they will usually overestimate their own stamina.

Know Your Place
B-Ranked Illusion of Force Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru moves his melashiin in an undulating motion and then the tips of the tendrils will curl inward. When the targets see this motion, this illusion of force genjutsu will activate. When the genjutsu activates, the targets will see one of Kotaru's melashiin be immediately upon them and wrapping around their bodies. For the duration of one post, the targets will begin to feel as though the melashiin is pulling them down to force them onto their hands and knees. During this period, if the target realizes they are under genjutsu, they can move their hands to kai out. Targets can also physically break the illusion if their strength is 20 or greater. After this one post period, a target with less than 20 strength will be unable to lift their bodies from this position for 4 posts.

Avoid Me
B-Ranked Status Genjutsu
After performing a katon technique Kotaru will channel his chakra. Once the targets feel the heat from the katon, the genjutsu will activate. The targets will feel apprehensive and will unconsciously try to avoid being within a 20 meter radius around Kotaru, and will think it is extremely dangerous to direct physical attacks, including melee and held weapon attacks, toward him. This genjutsu lasts 6 posts.

Experience Tranquility
B-Ranked Status Genjutsu
This technique can be used on enemies or allies alike. After Kotaru channels his chakra, he will say “Relax” to activate the genjutsu. After hearing the command, over the course of one post all who hear the command will experience a sensation of being gradually relieved of stress and hostility. After this initial post, the targets will be amiable, less inclined to be hostile towards others, and more open to positive suggestion from the user. Though this does not guarantee the targets will heed to the user's suggestions, the genjutsu influences the target to view the suggestions positively and makes them more inclined to follow them. This technique lasts 6 posts.

Into the Sand
B-Ranked Illusion of Force Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will spread his melashiin to his side and push them downwards. When his targets see the motion, the genjutsu will activate. Over one post, the ground beneath the target will cover their feet up to their ankles and act as quicksand, pulling them down with 20 strength. If the target has above 20 strength, they can wrench their body from the ground, which will cause the illusion to break. After the first post, for the next 4 posts the target will slowly sink into the ground in the following manner:
  • End of 2nd post: buried up to the knees
  • End of 3rd post: buried up to the waist
  • End of 4th post: buried up to the neck.
The target will remain buried to the neck for an additional post before the technique ends.

The Imposter’s Hands
B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, the genjutsu is activated when he and the target make physical contact. The target will view their hands as belonging to someone else, and they will appear to be the wrong skin tone, have unfamiliar scars or blemishes, and the like. This will cause the target to believe that their hands will not cooperate with them, and they may hesitate to grab their weapons or form hand seals for fear that their hands will fail them. This justu lasts 4 posts.

The Spectre
B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, this genjutsu is activated when the targets feel the heat from Kotaru's katon techniques. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets will see a dark purple, solid shadow emerge from Kotaru’s katon. It will then immediately appear in front of the targets and enter their mouth. For the next four posts, the targets will feel as though they are burning from the inside from their gut to their throat. They will believe that they are being burned and melted from the inside out by the spectre and will find it difficult to focus on and react to their surroundings.

Confusion
B-Ranked Status Genjutsu
Pre-requisite: Bursting Finger Pellet
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will use the Bursting Finger Pellet technique, and the sound will activate the genjutsu. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets of the genjustu will temporarily forget the correct hand seals sequences of the techniques they were planning to use while in the middle of the string of seals. They may complete the sequence of seals, but it will be incorrect and nothing will happen. If they try the seals a second time, however, they will be successful. This lasts 2 posts.

Communication
B-Ranked Overlay Genjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru touches up to three targets in quick succession to activate this genjutsu. The overlay lasts up to 4 posts. During this time, Kotaru and the targets will be transported to an open grassy field. The sky is cloudless and mostly dark, appearing to be at dusk, with the sun, moon, and stars brightly visible. He and the targets will be in the middle of the field with their legs crossed. In this world, jutsu will fail, they have no weapons on their person, and all physical stats are set to 5, making combat nearly impossible.

Choking Game
B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will say the words “speak less” to activate the genjutsu. Anyone who hears the words will feel themselves choke painfully whenever they attempt to speak, and be unable to form coherent words for the next 5 posts. Any time they try to speak they will see small droplets of blood flying from their mouths. The targets will also second guess speaking, feeling worried that speaking is making them ill.

Into the Void
B-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru or one of his allies will make a powerful roar or scream. When the targets hear this the genjutsu will activate. Those who fall under this genjutsu will be robbed of their vision, seeing nothing but darkness for 3 posts.

The World Fades
B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru and the target make physical contact. After the contact, the target will see a cloud of thick smoke converge upon them. They will quickly feel as though they are succumbing to smoke inhalation. They will experience throat irritation, coughing, and find breathing extremely difficult. This will slow their movement and affect coordination, making complex movements difficult. They will also experience tunnel vision and feel as though they are going in and out of consciousness. This genjutsu lasts four posts.

After channeling his chakra, Kotaru then uses any katon technique. Once his targets see the katon the genjutsu will activate. For the next 6 posts, any katon technique Kotaru used will appear to be suiton. The targets will be unable to feel the heat from the katon technique.

Kotaru will channel his chakra and then make a small draw of blood from his body. When the targets see the blood, the genjutsu will activate. Horirble thoughts will torment the targets, which is likely to severely diminish their focus. These thoughts will range from their impending violent death, to the torture and dismemberment of their friends and loved ones by the hands of faceless enemies. They will feel a strong sense of fear and grief and will be unwilling to move and unable to think of or focus on anything else. This jutsu lasts 5 posts.

The Imposter

After channeling his chakra, the genjutsu is triggered by physical contact with a target. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets will see and feel as if their body does not belong to them. Their body will appear to them to be the wrong skin tone, build, age, and sometimes gender, and will feel physically weak, and if the target is a shinobi they will feel as though their body belongs to a person who has never been trained as such. The target will believe the “fake body” is unable to perform their techniques and will forget how get their body to coordinate taijutsu maneuvers effectively. This genjutsu lasts 6 posts.

Temple of Stasis

This is a technique that allows the user to affect a large body of people. After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru performs Burst; anyone who hears the resulting sound will fall under the genjutsu. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets will see steam just above the surface of the ground that slowly swirls upward. Due to the nature of the technique, if a target realizes this is a genjutsu they only need a Willpower stat of 15 to break out of it. Otherwise, the targets will fall into a state of unconsciousness at the end of the post.

After performing the necessary hand seals, Kotaru spends one post touching targets. At the beginning of the second post, anyone he has touched will be affected by this genjutsu. After performing the needed seals, Kotaru will speak on any topic relating to truth and lies. Once the targets hear this, any time they tell a lie or stray from the truth, they will feel an agonizing pain in their chest. The pain will feel like being stabbed several times in quick succession while simultaneously being burned severely, and the targets will also find it very difficult to breathe without wheezing. The sensation will peak as long as they are not telling the truth, and lessen in intensity when they stop lying. The jutsu lasts 9 posts.

Eye of the Basilisk
S-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
Kotaru will perform a series of hand seals, and when the targets look at Kotaru’s shiin the genjutsu will activate. The targets will become overcome with fear, becoming dizzy and unable to move whenever they see Kotaru. They will feel their heart racing painfully as if having a heart attack, will feel they are unable to breathe, and will feel ill to the point of uncontrollable heaving or vomiting. This technique lasts 9 posts.

The Pit
S-Ranked Illusion of Force Genjutsu
Prerequisite: 40 Willpower
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will throw three kunai, arranging them in a straight line. Once the targets see the the three kunai hit the ground the genjutsu will activate. The targets will see the ground around the kunai collapse, and various areas near the targets will also collapse to form a gigantic pit. The target will stand on a thin sliver of the ground with the pit opening up around them. The pit will appear to be infinitely deep, and the targets will feel a force pulling them down with a strength of 40. If the targets realize this is a genjutsu within the first post, they can move their hands to kai. Otherwise the genjutsu keeps them in place lasts 7 posts.

The First Ring: The Gatekeeper
S-Ranked Overlay Genjutsu
Prerequisite: 50 Willpower
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru makes physical contact with the target’s head to initiate the genjutsu. The target will see the ground beneath their feet fall away, opening into a large, pitch black hole. The target will fall for one post, surrounded by darkness for what feels like twelve hours before reaching the bottom. Within the pit Kotaru will appear as a 15 meter tall spirit made of fire and magma, with his melashiin circling around to form the boundaries of the pit. For the next 10 posts - which feels like up to 3 days per post for the target - the target can attack the Kotaru-demon with any of their techniques or weapons. However, Kotaru will have complete control over any jutsu once used, and any techniques or attacks the target uses will immediately exhaust them to the point of near collapse. Afterwards, they will recover their strength at the end of the next post and the cycle can begin anew.

The Fifth Ring: The Centum
S-Ranked Overlay Genjutsu
Prerequisite: 50 Willpower
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru makes physical contact with his target's head to initiate the genjutsu. The target’s immediate area will warp and they will feel as though they are being squeezed from all sides as the area transforms into a large room with a ceiling too high to see. Surrounding the target on the wall are one hundred bodies. Each body has the appearance of the target in various states of torture, such as being dismembered, burned, impaled, or disemboweled. One by one the bodies rotate along the wall, each stopping just across from the target. For the next 15 posts, Kotaru will explain exactly how each body came to its current state in detail, and as he describes each wound the target feels the pain associated with the injuries. Within the genjutsu the target will experience the pain of each body for at most what feels like 24 hours before the next body rotates into place.

My Enemy is My Friend
S-Ranked Status Genjutsu
Pre-Requisite: 50 Willpower
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru makes physical contact with a target and says "I'm on your side." This causes the genjutsu to take affect. For two posts, the target will begin to feel gradually less hostile toward Kotaru and refrain from directing any attacks toward him, so long as he does the same. By the third post they will have no ill will or hostility toward him, and will view him as an ally and a friend. The genjustu lasts an additional seven posts, but is broken prematurely if Kotaru makes any action to harm them in any way.

Master of Sound
S-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Pre-Requisite: 40 Willpower
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru will create a loud noise. When the target hears the noise, Kotaru will gain full control over their auditory sense. He can cause the target to hear any sound he pleases, and he can make sounds unable to be heard. This genjutsu lasts 5 posts.

Appearance: Souryuu is a young, relatively small aqua-colored dragon spirit. His body length is 10'10", and he weighs 403 lbs. He has large, green eyes. Soryuu also has short spines that run down the length of his back; they appear to flow like water, and they as they flow the spines shift in color ranging from aqua to dark violet. There are thick scales covering his neck and chest. These scales change color depending on Soryuu's mood; they are bright, blue, and sparkle when he is cheerful, and darken to violet and churn when he is angry or in distress. He has long spines on his cheeks, some of which are made of bubbles. These bubbling spines also change appearance in response to Soryuu's emotions by boiling and turning to steam when he is feeling strong, negative emotions.

Soryuu has small wings, which he usually keeps folded against his body. He has a long, thick tail which ends in a violet and pink spade. This spade usually is whispy in appearance toward the tip, similar in appearance to steam. The dragon spirit also has very strong and muscular limbs, and his feet have long, retractable claws.

Personality: Soryuu is young for his species, evident by his playful and child-like nature. He often giggles, which sounds like a bubbling stream. He is able to speak and usually speaks in a manner similar to a child, though he is capable of more mature speech. He is also very mischievous and rarely takes things seriously, much to the annoyance of his master. He is rarely outright aggressive unless the situation calls for it.

Despite his playful nature he is wary of most adult humans. He seems to be drawn to children and young teenagers, especially those who seem particularly moody or in distress. In such cases he tries to play with them in an attempt to improve their demeanor.

History Soryuu was born in a hot, watery realm, filled with deep pools and geysers that were large enough to swallow villages. For the first 150 years of his life Soryuu existed as all dragons of his species do: as a collection of tiny orbs of spirit energy. In this state he was the equivalent of an embryo, and he was sustained and nurtured by the realm itself. As he matured and gained sentience, his form began to coalesce to a larger collection of energy that looked much like a glowing egg. For the next 50 years he continued to mature within the safety and comfort of a boiling, poisonous spring.

At some point, he and other spirits from various realms were forcefully pulled into the human world, and were made to settle in the Catacombs beneath Iwagakure. This transfer made Soryuu's form unstable and he was often unable to maintain his egg-like form, and often broke apart into the tiny orbs of his earlier developmental stage. It was during this time that he met Kotaru and his teammates. Fascinated, he immediately took a liking to the jounin, and he even assisted in his recovery after the boy was injured in a fight with a gargantuan worm spirit. From that moment on, whenever Kotaru entered the Catacombs the spirit would find him, playfully rolling around the shinobi.

Soryuu eventually hatched and quickly sought out Kotaru during one of the latter's dangerous excursions into the Catacombs. After assisting Kotaru and ensuring his safety, the shinobi bluntly offered to enter into a spiritual contract, and Soryuu happily obliged.

Soryuu was born in the Fussenkai, a realm filled with boiling springs and geysers. His species has evolved over the millennia to adapt to the harsh environment. Soryuu, like his brethren, is able to use the heat element known as Kaenton in the human realm. He is able to use this release without needing a concentration slot.

Kaenton has to ability to heat anything, increasing its temperature, causing burns, and introducing people to heat strokes, dehydration, and even possibly death. Soryuu is naturally resistant to increased temperature, but even he can succumb to the excessive heat of the techniques. The heat increase, and the area he can increase, is determined by the rank of techniques. At higher ranks the element is able to create flashes of heat that can kill with ease.

A pure channeling jutsu, Soryuu is able to channel Kaenton chakra to parts of his body, heating them up by up to 20 degrees Celsius. This jutsu has no range and can only warm up the user's body, allowing for first degree burns on contact.

After channeling his chakra, Soryuu can increase the temperature of the air around them. This creates a 10 meter diameter area of heat centered on him for the next seven posts. People who remain within this area for two or more posts will swelter, and their skin will begin to burn. By post four, exposed skin will suffer first degree burns. This technique lasts 7 posts.

Sweltering Bite
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu focuses kaenton chakra in his mouth. Within 3 posts he will bite a target, flooding chakra into their body. The heat will cause their body temperature to increase several degrees, making them feel uncomfortable and sluggish, causing them to lost -1 speed for 2 posts.

Mirage Clone
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu creates a distortion of heat in front of him. This distortion bends light in a way that makes it look like the user. It has no defensive or offensive capabilities and only looks like the user, but is still just a chakra shell with heat inside. Upon contact, the clone dissipates, releasing a cloud of heat into its immediate surroundings. The heat is hot enough to cause first degree burns.

Desert Aura
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: Heat Aura
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu can increase the temperature of the air around him. This creates a 5 meter diameter area of intense heat centered on the clan member for the following five posts, causing great discomfort to those within. Additionally those aside from the user within the area will feel an intense heat that will drain 1 endurance per post for the next two posts. This area travels with the user at a speed of [Control]. If the user moves faster than [Control] speed, the area will follow behind at the speed with which it was cast.

Heat Clone
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu creates an identical copy of himself formed of condensed heat, this copy having all of the user's own stats and being capable of utilizing any Kaenton techniques the user may know.

Warm Up
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Soryuu will channel chakra, then flood an area surrounding him with kaenton. This creates an area around him 20 meters in diameter in which, due to the higher heat of the area, the strength of katon techniques are increased. Whenever a katon technique enters the area, its strength is increased by 5. This effect last 7 posts.

Mirage Field
C-ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu releases Kaenton into a 10 meter radius around them, causing heat to disperse in the air within that area. This heat will cause a minor increase of up to 5 degrees Celsius, but its real strength is in the way the hot air behaves. The behavior of the heated vs. cold hair causes a Mirage field where everything's appearance is slightly distorted, leaving them unable to properly gauge distances or the size of people and objects unless they have a perception technique of the appropriate rank, this technique lasting for the next seven posts.

Magma Touch
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu touches an object with his lil paw. The object must be a material that doesn't have an abnormally high melting point, must be inorganic and can only be a maximum of 1x1x1 meter large. If the object meets these criteria, the user can flood it with Kaenton chakra for a full post and heat it up. The heating up is done to such a point that the object actually melts into a hot pool and remains in that state for at least 3 posts, after which it begins to cool down at a normal rate (thus the rate at which it returns to normal depends on the temperature of the environment). This pool is extremely hot and capable of causing even fourth degree burns, but the user cannot control or mold it in any way and they will be damaged by it just like anybody else.

Heat Wave
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu channels Kaenton chakra to his wings, then spreads them out to either side of his body. As they do so, a wave of heat will grow from them over the course of the next 5 posts at [Control] speed. The wave is capable of causing second degree burns on whatever it touches. It is visible as a constantly shimmering wave, which is easily noticeable.

Heat Up
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Soryuu will channel chakra, then flood an area surrounding him with kaenton. This creates a sweltering hot area around him 40 meters in diameter in which the strength of katon techniques are increased. Whenever a katon technique enters the area, its strength is increased by 10. This effect last 10 posts.

Sweltering Breath
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu will breathe out a shimmering wave of kaenton chakra that will spread around him in all directions for up to 40 meters. The heat will be hot enough to cause second degree burns to anyone within the chakra field. In addition, those who are in the kaenton field are subject to a -3 debuff to [Endurance] for every post they remain in the field, to a maximum of three posts. The field itself lingers for ten posts before dissipating.

Warm Embrace
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu will head butt up to three targets and simultaneously breathe out a visible pocket of kaenton which covers and clings to the target. The chakra raises the temperature around the target 3 degrees Celcius, and prevents the target's temperature from being raised further so long as the chakra surrounds them, essentially protecting them from being affected by the user's kaenton techniques ranked B rank lower. The chakra lasts 8 posts before fading.

Intensify
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
Soryuu will channel chakra, then flood an area surrounding him with kaenton. This creates a shimmering, sweltering hot area around him 65 meters in diameter in which the strength of katon techniques are increased. Whenever a katon technique enters the area, its strength is increased by 13. This effect last 12 posts.

D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra the user will form a shuriken of water that can be thrown up to 10 meters. When kai'd, this shuriken explodes with [Control] Strength and covers the immediate area in water. If not consumed, this technique lasts for three posts.

Puddle
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu will spit out suiton, covering the ground with water. The water spreads around him in all directions in a 10 meter diameter.

Water Orb Technique
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu will form a dense ball of water approximately 6 centimeters in diameter in this mouth. Upon lurching forward, they will release the ball towards an opponent up to 10 meters away at [Control] Speed and Strength.


Vortex
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu covers his muzzle with suiton and touches a person or surface, leaving the suiton attached behind. Once the suiton is separated from his hand, the water begins to rotate and expands up to 25 meters in diameter, which captures the target within the swirling suiton. The vortex moves with [Control] strength. The jutsu lasts for 3 posts.

YutonShow
Yuton:
Soryuu is able to use Yuton, or boiling water, a combination of kaenton and suiton. Yuton has properties of its parent releases. Like suiton, the jutsu have an enveloping effect; jutsu will envelop and hold targets at 1/2 strength of the technique, rounded down. Yuton jutsu also are affected by kaenton, which heats the water enough to cause burns based on the jutsu’s strength:
  • 1-14: Uncomfortable heat
  • 15-24: First degree burns
  • 25-34: Second degree burns
  • 35+: Third degree burns
Boil
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Soryuu will touch an existing body of water and flood it with chakra. This chakra spreads throughout the water at [Control] speed and heats it up to a boil, applying the passive according to [Control] strength. If the body of water has another's chakra within it, Soryuu's [Control] must be greater than theirs in order to take effect.
