Physical Features: Ishidai is a tall, tan-skinned man with a burly muscular and well-defined build. He has a full head of black, yet greying, hair which is cut into a medium length while a full yet trimmed beard adorns his face. He has black eyes which reflect every one of his 55 years of life. His face has pronounced cheekbones and tear troughs under his eyes, and a prominent crease across his forehead.
Clothing/Accessories: As the younger brother of a local (and now legendary) blacksmith, Ishidai has been the guinea pig for and beneficiary of many of his brother’s creations. His most prized possession is a suit of armor that his brother made for him. However, when wearing the robes of the Tsuchikaze, he only wears the chain mail under-fittings. Instead of the forehead protector, Ishidai wears the sugegasa (conical straw hat) of the Kage with the rock kanji on it and when needed for official business will also don the haori of the Kage.
Personality: Ishidai is not exactly what you’d call a born leader. In fact, outside of battle, he’s downright shy. Years of being compared to his brother before he made jounin have made him humble, though he went through a period as a chuunin where his competitive nature got entirely out of hand. Age has done a lot to mellow out this character flaw, but truth be told, his impeccable drive has made him the leader and ninja that he is today. He is stern, terse, and not particularly fond of talking.

Shingai:
Shingai is a massive naginata, measuring at 115 inches tall. The two blades measure 42 inches each while the remaining 31 inches constitute the center part of the weapon. It was created by the Tsuchikage's brother, a legendary blacksmith within Iwagakure no Sato who took over a month to create the monstrosity. The blades are wicked, curved, and shaped in a design reminiscent of a dragon's tooth with eyes similar to a dragon detailed on the bottom sections of the blades. The blades and shaft are made up of the highest quality steel found within Iwagakure no Sato and require a strength of 40 or more to break.
Bladed Gaunlets:
Ishidai, when donned in his armor, has two bladed gauntlets which extend up to his elbows to finish the ensemble. They, like Shingai, are forged of the highest quality steel found within Iwagakure no Sato and require a strength of 30 or more to break.

Armour Set
Ninku; resilience, durability, stoicism. The armour of the Tsuchikage. As much a piece of defensive equipment as it as a symbol of office, this set of armour is incredibly durable whilst still offering an almost full range of motion due to its layered design.

The torso section of armour is made of fitted layers of overlapping metal plates, allowing for as much range of movement as possible whilst remaining fully protected. Each of the plates are coloured dark green with black trim, covering the chest, back, and midsection. The heavily ornate pauldron's are in fact completely separate from the primary chest piece, allowing them to be easily removed if necessary. In place of standard green or black as the rest of the armour commits to, these giant hideous ogre skulls are golden-brown in colour, standing out even more than they normally would. Intriciately designed, including long pointed ears and tusks that come to a sharp point which can be used offensively for a shoulder barge in a pinch, these are tied around the upper arm and attached to a simple metal plate that comes down to just above the elbow. On either arm is a metal bracer engraved with the symbol of Iwa. The bracers reach from just below the elbow to just over his first knuckle and has a black fingerless glove attached to wear it with.

A heavy belt sits at the waist, tied close with thick green rope in place of a standard leather belt and buckle, with thigh guards attached. This armor has a soft, black cloth on the inside, which rests against a secondary armored skirt of heavy scale-mail, with green iron plates sewn into the cloth and connected via black leather cords. which reaches down to his knees. There are six separate sections of the armored belt, one for each leg in the front, back and sides. Black lacquered metal shin-guards complete with green trim; they have dark green cloud-like designs around the cuffs that reach up just past the knee. Instead of standard ninja sandals or combat boots of some kind, the shin guards are attached to a pair of straw sandals designed to be worn with padded socks. The armor set requires a strength of 45 to break.

After performing the correct hand seals the user places their palm on the ground, channelling chakra into it and increasing the density of the earth beneath them in a 25 meter radius around them. This earth is extra resilient to digging and takes strength stat equal to [Control] in order to even dent. Falling on this section of ground without a proper landing could also potentially increase damage.

By channeling doton chakra into their arm, the user will form rock from their shoulder downward, encasing their forearm and hand in rough and simplistic layered plates of stone. The stone passes over the hand on the back-side but leaves the palm-side uncovered allowing full dexterity of the hand for seals. This essentially resembles a manica, which is a segmented armor that spans the length of the arm. The armor has [Control] strength and speed.

After performing the correct hand seals and holding the last one, the user will stomp their foot on the ground, releasing their chakra in it and causing it to tremor violently for one post. The tremors radiate out from the user in a 25 meter radius, knocking down anyone standing on the ground without a stability taijutsu technique of a rank equal to [Control]. Lasts as long as the last seal is held, for up to 3 posts.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a series of walls in front of them at [Control] Speed, closing the top off. This maze covers a 7mx7mx3m area and the walls have an endurance of [Control] Strength.

After performing the correct hand seals the user places their palms on any earthen ground, channeling chakra into it allowing them to lower or raise any 5x5 meter segment of the ground within 40 meters at [Control] speed and strength. The maximum distance the segment can be lowered or raised is 40 meters. The user must keep their palms on the ground during the course of the jutsu. If they remove their palms at any time, the jutsu will end and they will not be able to raise or lower it any further without redoing the technique.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a nondescript 2x1x2 meter jaw complete with a dense row of spiked teeth. They will then launch the head at a target for up to 40 meters traveling at [Control] speed. During the course of it's travel at any time the user can perform an additional hand seal, causing the jaw of spiked teeth to close shut, clamping and impaling whatever is within it at [Control] strength.

After performing the correct hand seals and holding the final seal the user will form a dragons head directly in front of them. So long as they hold the seal they will be able to rotate the head and fire up to 20 meter long stone spears, one at a time, up to 65 meters away from the mouth of the dragon. The spikes fire at [Control] speed and hit with [Control] strength. While using this technique the user has to stay immobile and any movement will cancel the technique.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form two gigantic slabs of earth around 2 cubic meters in size 65 meters away from either side of a target. The two slabs of earth will then lurch forward at [Control] speed attempting to crush the target between them at [Control] strength. This technique is slow, but powerful, and tends to work better on bigger targets who have less wiggle room to dodge.

The dome has a diameter of 15 meters and it's walls are nearly a meter thick, having [Control] strength. This can be used defensively or to surround/trap an opponent in a location ideal for earth style techniques.

Having achieved notable mastery over Doton, the user is capable of shaping, directing, and manipulating existing bodies of the element without the need of hand seals or an existing technique. The range at which the user can manipulate the element is equal to the user's control times 2 meters. While the user can freely manipulate this element, they cannot produce the element naturally.

Said to have split even mountains, after performing the correct hand seals the user will slam their palm down on the ground. Their chakra will violently rend the ground tearing it apart in 80 meter line [Control] speed and strength. The tearing is 5 meters wide and 7 meters deep, shooting dangerous rubble, rock, and everything on the ground into the surrounding air during the technique. Over all this causes great destruction and being even near the path of this technique is quite dangerous.

*Doton • Birth of a New Mountain

Myth says this technique was said to have been used by some of the worlds most skilled earth style shinobi over the course of that past eight-hundred years to create and shape the mountains of today. After performing the correct hand seals the user will hold the final seal and become immobile as they begin to form a mountain beneath them. Should the user break the last seal for any reason, the mountain will stop forming. The mountain forms with [Control] strength, making this extremely devastating to terrain and capable of rewriting entire maps. The mountain forms at a rate of 7 meters for length and 3 meters for height for every 10 points of control the user has put into the jutsu, per post, growing out from the user which is it's epicenter. This technique can be used for a maximum of 5 posts, however it is very rare for anyone to hold such a taxing technique for such an extended period of time, due to it taking the full amount of stamina from the technique. The mountain formed has a single peak, the rest of it being a ridge.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will place their hands on the ground, channeling their chakra into it. Beyond a 2 meter diameter radius around the user, the earth in a 80 meter radius around them will soften into extremely fine dirt at [Control] speed and to a depth of 1.5 meters. Anyone caught in the pit will begin to sink rapidly, however those with at least 35 Speed will be fast enough to move before the fully begin to sink into the earth.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will spray water created from the inside of their chest through their mouth. Once the water is expelled, it will form an umbrella shape that is concave to the user and about two meters in diameter. This defense is somewhat solid and can be formed in any direction the user can spit, up to 10 meters away. The defense is shot at [Control] Speed and has [Control] Strength and unless completely destroyed it lasts for three posts before falling lifelessly to the ground.

After channeling chakra into their hands the user will fire two jets of water from their hand, essentially hurling and propelling themselves in the opposite direction of their jets as if thrown by [Control] Strength.

Upon impact it will burst spilling all over the immediate area making it extremely slippery. After performing the correct hand seals the user expels a massive tidal wave of water 10 meters wide and nearly 5 meters tall. This wave travels forward at a [Control] Speed and Strength for up to 25 meters before losing it's steam and failing.

Created to safely incapacitate opponents, after performing the correct hand seals, if the opponent is within 25 meters and is standing a top a body of water with the user's chakra in it, the user will begin to churn their chakra causing the water to turn into a vortex and engulf the opponent, trapping them in a vortex about two meters in diameter. Once the target is inside, the user must hold the last seal and cannot use any other techniques, capable of holding this for up to five posts. In order to escape, the target must have at least [Control] strength to physically make their way out, or the user must be disrupted. Most shinobi would pass out after two posts due to a lack of oxygen. However, if a target possesses an Endurance stat higher than 10, it would require three posts for them to pass out. Should the target possess an Endurance stat above 20, it would require five posts for them to pass out, but anything higher than 30 would allow them to resist passing out altogether.

After performing the correct hand seals the user creates a dragon head of water. Once it has been created, the user can launch the three-meter diameter projectile towards a target at [Control] Speed and Strength for up to 40 meters. Following the head is a long body and tail, stretching nearly six-meters. During the course of it's travel, the user may alter the course of the dragon three times, allowing it to complete a U-turn per alteration.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will expel a large amount of water from their body as a sweeping defense against hostile techniques. The water from the technique forms a cylinder around the user at [Control] Speed, and flows around the user. It is approximately 7 meters around and 2 meters thick, leaving only the top unprotected. The wall has the ability to deflect things with [Control] Strength, but even if something break through, the walls thick nature makes traversing through the water fully troublesome. The wall lasts up to three posts unless dispelled earlier by the user or destroyed.

After performing the correct hand seals the user is able to spew a large ball of water that stands at three meters in diameter. This ball rolls forward at the desired target up to 40 meters away and at [Control] Speed. Should this strike the target, they will become engulfed within the sphere. However, if this manages to strike multiple targets, it will envelop them as well, up to a total of 3 prisoners. One can resist being pulled into the ball if they have a strength higher than [Control]. The trapped targets will spin with the sphere and may become nauseated and dizzy from the disorientation. The technique lasts for a total of 4 posts before bursting.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will create a pressurized blade of water in their hand. The blade is approximately 1/2 meter wide and 2 meters tall, resembling a larger sword. The pressurized blade of water has [Control] Strength and may fire half-meter long blades of water with [Control] Speed and Strength. It lasts for 4 posts or until destroyed.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will hold their hand out to a body of water. The water begins to swirl around and form into 5 3-meter long sharks similar to Great Whites. The sharks will swarm towards opponent's who stand on the body of water with [Control] Speed and ravage them with [Control] Strength. These sharks last for 5 posts before dispersing back into water.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will flow chakra into their heel. When they next slam their heel into the ground, a massive 25-meter diameter geyser will shoot up from the ground directly in front of them at [Control] Speed and Strength for up to 60 meters. The sheer force of the water alone is dangerous, not to mention the gravity of it all falling back to earth.

After performing the correct hand seals the user creates water from thin air and forms so much that it creates a tidal wave 80 meters wide and 20 meters tall. The wave will flow forward at [Control] speed and strength, crashing into and destroying everything in it's path for up to 80 meters before running out of power.

After performing the correct hand seals the user slams their hand down on the ground, causing a ring of water to form around them. At [Control] Speed, the ring will rapidly expand outward up to 80 meters before forming a thick wall of tentacles which then come spinning in, grabbing everything inside the ring besides the user and tearing it apart at [Control] strength.

Kushou:
Kushou-Ryu Soujutsu, or spear techniques, are a collection of Taijutsu techniques focused around the use of polearms. The techniques can be used interchangeably for users of spears, staves, glaives and similar weapons. These techniques were developed by the military of the Holy City of Towers, rumored to have been passed from the Holy Mother herself to the males of her land centuries ago. This simple technique involves thrusting quickly with the user’s long weapon from a distance before quickly pulling back their polearm to prevent counters. This techniques most useful aspect is that it can be used while in motion without affecting speed or momentum.

* Kushou・The Courtier Taps his Fan

This simple technique involves proper use of the pole of the user’s weapon to deflect blows. By properly angling and manoeuvring their spear or staff they can deflect other like weapons, hand to hand blows or even sword blows by striking the right place at the right time, even while in motion.

Prerequisite: * Kushou・Low Wind Rising
This simple technique involves engaging an opponent’s weapon or one of their arms and moving it slightly to one side with the user’s weapon. This creates a very small opening which the user then exploits by kicking the opponent, keeping their weapon guarding the opponent’s arms.

The foundational stance of the Kushou style, Low Wind Rising involves the spinning of the user’s spear or polearm around their body constantly whilst remaining in motion. While in this stance, the user will be able to deflect projectiles with less strength than their own, while also making unpredictable movements of their spear.

* Kushou・The Swallow Takes Flight
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
The user will vault themselves into the air using their polearm and then unleash a powerful blow from above. This technique is used to disorient and surprise foes as well as overpower them as it strikes with all of the user’s body weight and momentum from the spin they perform in the air in order to strike with the spear that was touching the ground moments before.

* Kushou・Folding the Fan
C-Ranked Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisite: [Sword Weapons] concentration
A supplementary stance of the Kushou style, Folding the fan involves pulling back the user’s polarm and using only a portion of its length in order to engage briefly in shorter range with opponents. This sacrifices the user’s range advantage, but also allows them to more properly deal with those who get inside their range. This allows the use of a polearm weapon like a sword weapon.

This is the core technique of the Kushou Style. The user will begin in the Low Wind Rising stance and then approaches their opponent. They will begin with a wide arcing blow to begin this combination of blows. Following this they will spin their polearm and their body as they follow their opponent across the battlefield, chasing them down as they block and evade. This technique takes the user’s entire post, and can strike a number of times equal to half their speed. Those who block more than one blow will suffer a -3 to Strength for 3 posts as the weapon’s momentum and force jars their body.

* Kushou・The Swallow Rides the Wind
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: * Kushou・The Swallow Takes Flight
The user of this technique must first launch themselves high into the air as if with The Swallow Takes Flight. They will then begin to spin and unleash a flurry of blows from above. The user is capable of performing up to three strikes in the air, each of them prolonging the user’s airtime. The Swallow Rides the Wind is useful as it maintains the advantageous high ground and all of the forward momentum toward the opponent throughout all of its blows, giving the user an effective +6 Strength and -6 Control for the three blows.

This technique is a kind of mental preparation for the constant movement and spinning involved in the Kushou style. This enables the user to gather snippets of vision, sounds and tactile sensory information in order to be properly aware of the battlefield around them whether standing still or in rapid circular motion. The user is effectively aware of their surroundings within 25m of their person, able to recognize when attacks are coming and the body positions of opponents.

While rare for a practitioner of Kushou-ryu to be on the defensive, this technique is designed to facilitate effective defence against other close ranged opponents. The user of this technique is constantly aware of distancing between the opponent and themselves, and therefore will aim all of their strikes to prevent the opponent from closing the gap using their long weapon. This will make it extremely difficult for those with less skill than them to get close to the user safely without somehow neutralizing the user’s weapon.

* Kushou・The River Undercuts the Bank
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
The user of this technique will first block an incoming strike. Then, they will almost immediately cease resisting, causing the opponent to fall forward slightly and lose their balance provided they do not possess a Perception technique of equal or greater rank. This successfully created opening allows the user to raise the lower end of their weapon to strike from inside the opponent’s guard, typically at either the groin or the chin with full strength.

B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
The user of this technique will strike the ground with one end of their weapon hard, dragging it in a line. This will fling a cloud of dirt, rock and dust up into their opponent’s eyes as if the user had thrown it. The use of one end of their weapon in this enables the immediate return of the opposite end for a follow up strike at either a blinded opponent or an opponent that is quite predictably dodging the debris.

After either blocking an opponent’s strike or having one of their strikes blocked, the user will flick their weapon. Using their great leverage and range to their advantage, the user is able to skilfully dart their weapon around the opponent’s existing guard for a series of quick thrusts aimed at their torso.

Ishidai was born into a small, very poor family in Iwa. At the time he was born, his brother Ishizue had just begun helping his father to work in a local smithy. Thankfully, business picked up considerably in his first few years of life with the opening of a new coalmine in the local vicinity. Because of this increased income, his family was able to send him to the ninja academy, a luxury not afforded his brother, who bore the burden stoically. In fact, Ishizue was proving to be a gifted blacksmith in his own right, and was very much disinterested in his missed opportunity by the time Ishidai enrolled.

During the first few years at the academy, Ishidai, being a portly little fellow (his newly well-to-do parents may have overfed him a bit), was teased and bullied by older and more accomplished students. After coming home beaten and bruised after school one day, the young boy went crying to his brother, who took pity on the boy. After working all night, the young smith created his first piece of armor; a crude, slightly bulky right arm gauntlet, which he presented to his little brother the next morning. Upon his next encounter with the bullies, they laughed at the shabby weapon. In all likelihood, the piece was heavy and should have been more of a hindrance to him than a help, but there’s no substitute for a boost of confidence; Ishidai soundly beat several boys and sent one of them to the hospital. From that point on, Ishidai has never gone into a fight without some kind of armor on, which he uses to augment his formidable taijutsu style, a style that he learned from an older student named Kobe.

When finally assigned a team, Ishidai was blessed with a genjutsu specialist and a ninjutsu user, Shiori and Ikasu. With such a balanced team, the three easily became chuunin a year after they graduated, and began increasingly dangerous missions. Sadly, Ishidai became increasingly aware that while his two comrades had begun branching out into other areas (especially after they started dating), his taijutsu remained the basis of his fighting technique. Goaded on by a diligent urge to help his team grow stronger (and maybe just a smidge of jealousy), the chuunin upped the ante on his already strict training regimen, requesting tutoring sessions from various older shinobi around the village, and generally working himself to death. The result, however, was undeniable; Ishidai learned a plethora of jutsu in a matter of just one year, and began specializing in doton jutsu, something he’d previously struggled with.

Still, Ishidai’s inferiority complex hadn’t quite worked itself out of his system yet. After taking and failing miserably in several missions on his own, Ishidai once again went to his brother, who once again took pity on him. With Ishidai’s help, several long months later, Ishizue created his first masterwork, a suit of armor called Ninku (or Stoicism). Ishidai had already gotten into the habit of storing his brother’s cast-off weaponry in a scroll, and now asked one final favor of Ishizue: melt down his previous creations to make a single weapon. Once again, Ishidai helped his brother each day after the blacksmith closed shop, and it took exactly one month to make a gigantic dual-bladed weapon, which Ishidai appropriately named Shingai (or Terror). To commemorate the event, Ishizue took his brother out on the down, and by the end of the night, Ishidai had gotten the bright idea to get matching tattoos. He and his brother now bear dragon tattoos; Ishidai on his forearms, and Ishizue on his upper arms. He has since sealed the arm pieces of his armor into those tattoos, but it was certainly not their original purpose.

Fast-forward forty years. Shiori and Ikasu have been married and retired for almost a decade, but they still serve as advisors from time to time, and accompany Ishidai on the occasional mission for old time’s sake. Ishizue is the owner and founder of a world-renowned foundry, and still makes custom armor and weaponry in his spare time. Ishidai has been Tsuchikage for quite a number of years now, after serving as the assistant to his predecessor for four. Ishidai has spent those years learning how to be a good leader, something he doesn’t think of as coming naturally to himself, or anyone else for that matter. He’s thrown himself into the study of it with the same fervor he did his fighting techniques, and to hear anyone but him tell it, his insatiable drive to excel has really paid off.
