Physical Features:
  • Face/Head: Thick jawline, features that look as if they were carved from stone, and a larger nose lend to Hibiki's image as the stone-faced Jounin commander of Iwagakure. His eyes are small, so brown they appear black, with visible creases below them made more pronounced whenever he adopts a stern look. He wears his black, slightly graying hair loose, coming down in straight lines to his shoulders and he keeps his face clean shaven.
  • Body: Hibiki is heavily tanned and heavily scarred from his years of military service as a Jounin for Iwagakure. Strong shoulders and a broad chest give him the image of strength and add to the deception that he is a physical powerhouse.
  • Notable Features: Perhaps his most notable feature is the scar across his forehead, a perfectly horizontal line just above his eyebrows, often hidden by his bandana.
Clothing/Accessories: Hibiki is most often found wearing the traditional garb of an elite Jounin of Iwagakure, though in a different colour scheme to the usual tans and browns. Covering from top to bottom is a black jump suit, lacking a left sleeve but holding a long, billowing right one that easily conceals his right hand. His flak jacket lacks any pockets, simply serving as upper body protection that covers his back, torso, and shoulders; leaving his neck and arms exposed. Tied around the flak jacket, keeping it closed, is a multi-purpose belt fitted with a pouch in the front and back for carrying equipment. In place of a standard forehead protector Hibiki wears a bandana fitted with the metal plate of Iwa on the front of it which serves to keep his hair out of his face. The only non-traditional part of his garb is the cloth belt hanging from his waist that covers a large portion of his left thigh, bearing the mark of the Jounin-commander. Hidden below the cloth is a dark purple thigh holster
Personality: Hibiki is first and foremost a soldier; he has spent the majority of his fifty years of life in service to the Tsuchikage and it reflects in his actions. He is orderly and has a distaste for dishonesty, despite his preferred combat methods, which often puts him at odds with those that would lie and cheat their way through life. He has an extremely low tolerance of failure and does not play nicely with others; those that fail him are often dealt with harshly, either put to grunt work for months on end or sent to the north to waste away in the cold on perpetual 'guard duty'.

Hibiki gets along quite well with his subordinates and soldiers, though one would be hard pressed to see it given his gruff and taciturn nature, for a few simple reasons. He is willing to fight on the frontlines alongside his troops, despite his speciality with Genjutsu, which is something the other Iwa shinobi have looked down upon in the past. He will often see fit to promote men that he respects, those who are brutally honest or serve him well and make no mistakes due to their own mishaps.

Hibiki fights hard and fast with no room for error or mercy. While he has spent a lifetime working on his skills in all the ninja arts, his true calling is with Genjutsu; such is his skill with the art that he no longer requires the use of hand seals to ensnare his victims.

*[Genjutsu • When Pigs Fly]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
A rather simple genjutsu that is put into place when the user says a statement ending in "When Pigs Fly". Seconds later, anyone who hears the user say that will see several pigs with full hawk wings fly past, just a few feet above the user and the victim’s head, serving as a somewhat confusing distraction.

After performing the hand seals and pricking the opponent with some sort of small weapon (usually senbon), the opponent feels their arms and legs fall asleep. It feels as if the blood flow to these appendages has basically stopped, making their movements a tad sluggish and just all around uncomfortable. This jutsu doesn’t really hinder a person, but it makes everything they do feel off. For those who are attuned to the way their body feels during battle, it can be extremely distracting. Lasts 3 posts.

D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, any victim that sees the user preforming the hand seals will be induced under the genjutsu. This causes the target to begin to smell rotting flesh and decaying bodies. The jutsu can cause nausea and vomiting from the target, depending on how sensitive their sense of smell is. The smell of the dead can also cause some mental stress on the target. This genjutsu lasts for three (3) posts.

The user will do a series of hand seals, then whistle. Anyone who hears the whistle will be captured in this genjutsu. For the following 4 posts, the target will see a shadow in the corner of their eyes, constantly shifting out of view when they attempt to look at it.

The user will do a series of hand seals, then within the next post, snap their fingers. Anyone who hears the snapping will hear an explosion in the distance behind them. This works as an effective distraction, or a scare tactic, if properly utilized.

C-Ranked Status Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then whistle, initiating the genjutsu in anyone who hears the whistle. For the next three posts, the victims of this technique will feel tinges of doubt when listening to other people talk. While the doubt isn't strong, it creates a slight feeling that can be used to dissuade them from following instructions of other people if utilized properly.

C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
This is a genjutsu technique that causes its target to see a horrifying vision. The ninja will perform some hand seals and make eye contact with the target. Once cast, the world will appear normal to the target until they see the illusion. The illusion is at the discretion of the user. However, they can only make a stationary image, or a visual loop, not a controllable visual illusion. Examples would be a decapitated head on a table, or one of their friends running in circles on fire. This illusions may only last up to 4 posts, or until the user ends the jutsu themselves. As a note, this only effects sight.

C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
This is a genjutsu technique which can be used in quite a few ways. The user forms a hand seal, and as long as the opponent(s) see it, then the genjutsu will begin. The user and the opponent(s) will both light on fire and start to burn, from the feet up to the head, in the opponent's mind. The opponent will normally start to panic and try to get rid of the fire, especially since they feel as if they were in actual pain. This genjutsu lasts for 4 posts and will not appear to be able to be extinguished, no matter what the victim does. The illusion is very static, in the sense that it doesn't change with the environment, it merely creates an illusory flame and pain.

C-Ranked Status Genjutsu
This is a three post genjutsu. To start the genjutsu, the ninja does the hand seals that are needed and then places a hand on the target. Until the genjutsu ends the target is able to remember a lot more about their past and has a lighter barrier over their consciousness making it easier for them to spill information. This doesn’t weaken their will, however, meaning if they are aware it’s a genjutsu, they are more than capable of using Kai.

C-Ranked Status Genjutsu
The user does the needed hand seals, and then locks eyes with the target to trap the target in the genjutsu. For the next 10 posts, any pain that the target feels as if nothing really happened, effectively lessening all pain and nerve responses. The target would still be damaged, but any damage done to them would feel as though it is far less severe than it actually it, and as such they will usually overestimate their own stamina.

B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
The user does the needed hand seals, and then breaths out, expelling their breath onto their target. If successful, a 4 post long genjutsu will begin on the target. Over the course of the genjutsu, the target won't be able to feel any wind, and if it's raining, the rain will appear and feel like a light drizzle, regardless of how intense it really it. The target will also feel a sense of calm course through their body, as if all their senses have been slightly dulled, usually causing them to relax, be less stressed, and less inclined to combat. Originally created for the use of execution in combative prisoners, the technique now proves to be an effective method in combat to regain control of the battle field.

B-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
If the genjutsu user ever needs to run, this is the ideal technique to use. The target simply has to see them take their first step to run after the user has performed the hand seals. If the target saw the first step to run, the genjutsu caster will suddenly split into 90 "clones." This will allow the genjutsu caster to run away amidst the confusion, as the mass of clones run in every single direction at a speed of 20. Of course, touching one of these "clones" will cause them to disperse in a cloud of smoke, but they will do everything in their power to avoid making contact. If the clones aren't touched, the jutsu lasts for up to 6 posts.

B-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After forming the needed hand seals and making eye contact with the opponent, the user will initiate this genjutsu. For the following four posts, the target’s vision will seem to be flipped, so that up is down and down is up.

After performing the needed hand seals, the user must make eye contact with the opponent. When this is achieved, the genjutsu activates and all of the victim's senses become 1.5 times more sensitive for 4 posts. This leads to much more pain in combat(ex: Blinding jutsu would be much more effective, sound jutsu, etc.).

B-Ranked Status Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, the wink at their target. Should the target see them wink, they'll be caught in the genjutsu. For the next 4 posts, the target will have a sense of fear originating from the user and things they do. If the user takes a step forward, the target will be more inclined to take a step back, threats will have a higher efficacy, and they'll be more inclined to simply do what they can to avoid having to fight the user.

B-Ranked Overlay Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will place a hand on their target, initiating this overlay. The overlay lasts for 4 posts, transporting them to an open field. The sky is a mix between day and night, with both the sun, and stars visible in the sky. The user and his target will be sitting in the field, cross legged, where they can talk. Jutsu will fail, they have no weapons on their person, and all their physical stats are set to 5, making combat nearly impossible.

B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After performing the hand seals and making physical contact, the user captures the target in this genjutsu. The victim of this jutsu becomes aware of strange rashes and other signs of illness on the user of this jutsu. They notice that the user of this jutsu looks very sick and that they are extremely contagious. They believe whole-heartedly that if they touch the user of this jutsu, if the user of this jutsu bleeds on them, or if any other bodily fluids get on them, they will become deathly ill. It becomes almost impossible for the victim of this jutsu to physically attack the user, and even something as simple as the user’s spit will be seen as a deadly attack that they need to flee from. The genjutsu lasts for 3 posts.

A-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
This is a genjutsu technique that is activated after the user performs the needed hand seals and makes eye contact with the target. Once caught, the ninja's opponent becomes enveloped in total darkness. While in the black void, the ninja will be unable to see any incoming attack or threat. This lasts for 5 posts.

A-Ranked Status Genjutsu
This jutsu can be extremely useful when used at the right time during battle. After performing this jutsu and making eye contact, the opponent forgets how to use all of the ninjutsu and genjutsu they know, except basic jutsu. If they attempt to recall a jutsu they will feel the same sensation as if a word is on the tip of their tongue, confused and nothing will happen. Lasts 2 posts.

A-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
This is a Genjutsu technique that allows the caster to place a large body of people into an unconscious state by performing the hand seals and whistling loudly. Once the targets hear the whistle, they will see feathers falling down, and, if the opponent realizes this is a genjutsu, they just need a Will Power stat of 15 to break out of it. If they don't break out of the genjutsu, the target will fall asleep at the end of that post.

A-Ranked Overlay Genjutsu
The user does the needed hand seals and then making eye contact, the user emits an deafening screech, continuing to do so for two posts. Anyone that hears the this for more than two posts while making eye contact will freeze up and be ‘teleported’ to another dimension. In this dimension, there is a small room where spikes line the walls, ceiling and floors, so stepping anywhere would cause intense pain. The ceiling is covered in wax, which constantly drips down and burns into the skin of anybody underneath it. There is a fire in the center of the room, which will easily burn anyone who touches it. The main point of the fire, however, is that it is constantly burning human flesh, which leaves the horrid smell in the air. In addition, the air is filled with a dense smog, which is a constant irritant to eyes. On the third post, a door appears, which allows the target to escape from the room. However, since the room was rather dark, the sudden transition from the illusion’s lighting to the real world lighting causes the target to take the remainder of the post to adjust their eyes before they can see normally.

After the right hand seals and eye contact have been made, the target will begin to see things. This allows the user to tap into the target’s consciousness and find their fears and make them look real. They may begin to see animals, people, or things that they’re terribly afraid of. This genjutsu will last for 4 posts.

Prerequisite: 46 Will Power
The user has to be within 5 meters of the target. By forming the hand seals and meeting eyes with the opponent, they will quickly fall into this technique. With each step the genjutsu user takes, the victim will feel a steadily increasing feeling of defeat. When the user is finally right in front of the target, they will be so overwhelmed that they will fall to their knees in fear and have a horrible sick feeling of dread. While the attempt to make any fatal attack by the genjutsu user will immediately break the genjutsu, this feeling in the victim will make them answer almost any question with complete honesty. The word fatal is key, however, as the user can freely beat and physically injure the opponent while they are in this trance, they simply cannot kill. This feeling of defeat can last for up to 10 posts.

After forming hand seals, the user slams their foot down, sending out a 3-meter x 3-meter x 1-meter wave of Chalk, travels at [control] Speed and Strength. The wave will then crash down and expel a 6-meter x 6-meter x 6-meter cloud of Chalk that will persist in the area for up to three posts. After forming hand seals, the user creates a 2 meter long, six-inch radius spike of Chalk that they then launch forward up to 5 meters away at [Control] Speed and Strength. When this technique strikes an opponent or target area, it spreads additional Chalk particulates in a 3-meter x 3-meter x 3-meter cloud that will persist in the area for up to three posts. After forming hand seals, the user fires a 3-meter diameter stream of Chalk at the opponent up to 10 meters away. This Chalk stream strikes with [Control] Speed and Strength. Upon reaching the end of its range or upon hitting an opponent or surface, the Chalk diffuses into a 3-meter x 3-meter x 3-meter cloud which will persist in the area for up to four posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

After forming hand seals, Chalk particles will begin to form along with the inscription of a target fuuinjutsu (or the top most fuuinjutsu if there are multiple fuuinjutsu layered over each other, such as trap fuuinjutsu). This technique does not disarm the fuuinjutsu, but it does place a [control] penalty on the Control threshold required to disarm the fuuinjutsu, meaning it is easier to remove or disarm. This technique does not apply the releasing passive to other fuuinjutsu with a single-use and must be applied to each fuuinjutsu if weakening multiple fuuinjutsu.

After forming hand seals, the user causes Chalk to flow into all-terrain within 25 meters of their location at [Control] Speed. This causes the terrain to become a large explosive trap, the Chalk laying just below the surface. Any pressure on the terrain that is faster than normal walking speed or that is not protected by some other form of countermeasure will trigger a blast in the area with [Control] Strength, launching Chalk particulates 10 meters into the air throughout the entire 25 meter area. This technique lasts for four posts or until otherwise triggered. The Chalk particles from this technique will persist in the area for up to four posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

*Chalk Style • Silty Grip
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After forming hand seals, the user quickly draws Chalk up from the ground at [Control] Speed and Strength to bind the opponent's body. Should the opponent break the binding, the Chalk binding expanding out to cover an X-meter x X-meter x X-meter space with Chalk particulates, where X is the difference between the jutsu Strength and the opponent's Strength. This Chalk cloud will persist in the area for up to three posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

*Chalk Style • Choking Smog

After forming hand seals, the user forms a 3-meter diameter orb of Chalk and launches it at [Control] speed up to 25 meters away. This cloud has no actual striking strength, but after it is launched, it begins immediately discharging Chalk out to 10 meters away in every direction. The chalk is thick enough to obscure vision. The Chalk particles from this technique will persist in the area for up to four posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques acting with [Control] Strength]

After forming hand seals, the user will summon a barrier of chalk measuring 5 meters x 5 meters x 3 meters at [Control] Speed and Strength. If this barrier is destroyed, the impact will spread Chalk particles up to 25 meters away in all directions. The Chalk particles from this technique will persist in the area for up to four posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

After forming hand seals, the user will summon Chalk particles already on the battlefield within a 25-meter diameter toward their location at a Speed equal to [Control]. For up to the next four posts, these Chalk particulates will follow the user wherever they travel, the passive working at [Control] Strength. The Chalk particles from this technique will have their post limit refresh and persist in the area for up to four posts. After forming hand seals, the user will form a wide square net measuring 20 meters x 20 meters to launch forth up to 40 meters away at [Control] Speed and Strength, trailing Chalk particles behind it. If the net reaches the maximum distance before coming into contact with the opponent, it will simply fall apart into a cloud of Chalk particles. If it makes contact with the opponent, it will quickly wrap around them and coat them with Chalk particles before detonating with no Strength and spreading Chalk in a 10-meter x 10-meter x 10-meter cloud. The Chalk particles from this technique will persist in the area for up to five posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

After forming hand seals, the user sends out a 25-meter x 25-meter x 25-meter cloud of chalk in front of them at [Control] Speed. This cloud has no Strength, though it applies the debuff as if working at [Control] strength, but is thick enough to obscure vision and is constantly in motion. The Chalk particles from this technique will persist in the area for up to five posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

After forming hand seals, two 20-meter x 20-meter x 5-meter slabs of chalk will burst from the ground on either side of an opponent within 20 meters of the user's location, looking to crush them with [Control] Speed and Strength. Regardless of whether the target is crushed by this technique, Chalk particles are spread within a 15-meter diameter cloud in all directions. The Chalk particles from this technique will persist in the area for up to five posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

A-Rank Ninjutsu
After forming hand seals, the user infuses a 20-meter x 20-meter area of terrain within 20 meters of their location with volatile Chalk. If someone steps on the affected terrain within six posts of casting this jutsu, the area will explode, sending Chalk particles and other debris at opponents at [Control] Speed and Strength, spreading Chalk particulates up to 20 meters high within the entire targeted area. The Chalk particles from this technique will persist in the area for up to six posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

Karuki, Hibiki was born on a mid summer day within the village of Iwagakure no Sato to a young couple eagerly awaiting their first born son. His father was a shinobi of the village, a special jounin, and his mother worked at a bakery owned by her parents. His young, formative years were filled with plenty joyous occasions and memories as the two showered him in their love.

His father began to teach Hibiki about the shinobi arts when he was young, at age five. The man knew one day his son would also be expected to become a shinobi of the village and was keen to giving him a head start down this path. Hibiki learned several easy to learn jutsu at a young age and was also prone to helping his mother out in the bakery whenever he could. He learned from a young age what a work ethic was and how important it would be in his life.

Hibiki, like all other children of Iwagakure no Sato, joined the shinobi academy at age eight. He flourished within its student body and was quick to make friends with his classmates. The boy was an excellent student and caused no problems for his teachers. Due to his father’s training, Hibiki was able to skip his second academy year and go straight into his third. He graduated from the academy at age eleven much to his parents joy and was soon assigned to a three man cell for his genin team. The team consisted of a male clanless chuunin mentor and another genin, a female Genkouyoushi.

The three man cell was sent out on various menial missions during Hibiki’s tenure as a chuunin with a light peppering of C-rank missions here and there to give them some combat experience they’d surely need for their chuunin exams. As the exams came upon them, Hibiki threw himself into training fiercely. He used all of his available resources to grow strong, from his father and mentor to even his team mate’s clan mates.

It was no surprise for anyone when both he and his genin partner passed their chuunin exam with flying colors. Their squad stayed together, officially turned into a three-man chuunin cell which began to partake in higher ranked missions as each member grew stronger. Their mentor was promoted to special jounin shortly after their own promotion to chuunin.

Death is something that one is unable to avoid within the shinobi lifestyle. During one mission, the intel given to them had proven to be inaccurate and led to the team’s mentor sacrificing himself so his excellent students could survive. In addition, life sought it fit to throw another curve ball at the chuunin. His father had been gravely wounded during a mission and lost his left arm below the elbow, rendering him unable to continue as a battlefield operative. His father was limited to administrative duties from this point onward.

Hibiki, being young, blamed himself for both his mentor’s death and his father’s injury. He shut himself off from everyone else within his life and focused solely on his training. He began to take missions by himself and lost contact with his one true friend during this time. The incidents hardened Hibiki and turned him into a man who sought to bring glory to Iwagakure rather than enjoy his life. His dedication to Iwagakure no Sato and his growing skills earned him a promotion to Special Jounin.

His time as a special jounin was uneventful. Similarly to the end portion of his chuunin career, Hibiki continued on with taking missions by himself and made it his own personal mission to become as strong as he could be. His progress was noted by several higher ranked shinobi within Iwagakure and after a period of years he was promoted to Jounin.

Hibiki’s career as a shinobi continued on. The promotion to Jounin had happened soon after his 30th birthday. His father and mother had finally both retired from their jobs while Hibiki continued on his path as a shinobi. During his time as a jounin, he was able to reconnect with his old Genkouyoushi team mate. Through the process of reconnecting and bonding over their experiences, the two grew close and eventually married. The couple had a single daughter which, besides his life, is one of the brightest things within his life.

At age 35, Hibiki was recognized personally by the Tsuchikage and promoted to the esteemed rank of Bannin. Along with this promotion, Hibiki was given the title ‘Jounin Commander’ by his leader. He was to be the one who would lead and command all shinobi forces within the village on a daily basis and serve as the right hand man and advisor of the Tsuchikage.

Hibiki has held the spot of Jounin Commander for 15 years as of now. He proudly embraces the title and does his best to make sure the village’s forces run smoothly while assisting the Tsuchikage when needed. His most demanding duty as of now as Jounin Commander is the discovery of a large series of caverns and tunnels beneath Iwagakure no Sato. For the glory of Iwagakure no Sato, Hibiki shall not fail in this task or any other.
