Physical Features: A natural beauty, Mai has warm, rich brown skin that is nearly free of blemishes save for a large, thick scar on her back that begins below her left shoulder and stretches down diagonally to her mid-back. Her hair is waist-length, curly, and rusty red. She has very defined muscles due to her impressive strength. Mai has dark, golden-brown eyes; the arcus, the ring between the pupil and the iris of the eyes, glow the same reddish hue as her hair.

Clothing/Accessories: The kunoichi dresses rather simply on a day-to-day basis. Her tops are usually cropped, dark red tanks with the Enkouten clan symbol emblazoned on her right shoulder. She typically wears a black jacket with the clan symbol superimposed over the village symbol on the back. At times she'll switch up her attire by wearing fine crimson and white robes with a thick black obi. She almost exclusively wears gold jewelry, such as gold hoop earrings with dangling ruby charms, and has two cartilage piercings on each ear.

Personality: Mai, like many in her clan, has a fiery personality. She is charismatic and outgoing and is the kind of person who people are drawn to. She is determined and unwavering, confident and outspoken, and she approaches her goals with a relentless focus that inspires those around her. An assertive young woman, Mai fearlessly expresses her opinions and stands up for her beliefs unapologetically. Like most Enkouten, she is a fanatic for both her clan and Iwagakure and she is driven by the desire to someday lead her clan and also become an influential leader of the village. The kunoichi values tradition, and although she supports the direction the village is going for the most part, she resists changes that challenge the superiority and strength of the Enkouten.

In her quiet moments she is thoughtful and observant. Her appearance may be that of a beauty and a jock, but she defies stereotypes by being fiercely intelligent. Mai is a pragmatic woman, which sometimes leads others to think she is too unfeeling in her decision-making. At her worst she is stubborn and quick to anger. The type of person who believes she is almost always right, she does not take criticism well. She loves fiercely and, at times tenderly, though her soft side is not something she readily shows to others.

On a rainy, mid-autumn morning a young Enkouten couple brought a beautiful baby girl in the world. As the first girl in a family of two boys, Mai was immediately doted on and spoiled. Her father is the younger brother of the current head of the clan, Enkouten Kaizen. Like most children in her clan, she was trained from an early age in forging and in the clan's fusion element, youton. She enjoyed a happy childhood and knew from an early age that she wanted to be a splendid shinobi and a source of pride for her clan.

She entered the Academy at age seven for her mandatory training. Mai was an above average student thanks to her strength and natural affinity for youton, but she was rather pitiful in genjutsu and other ninjutsu styles. Nonetheless, she worked hard during her four years of training and when she graduated she was a capable young genin. The Enkouten's first team consisted of two other shinobi: a clanless boy by the name of Shouta, and a Shoshiki girl named Rina. She and the boy worked well together, but Mai and the Shoshiki did not get along at all. They constantly clashed due to the differences in their world views. Mai felt a sense of superiority over the fragile-looking girl who cowered in battle and deferred to whoever seemed the strongest. In this case it was Shouta, who took the lead since the two girls constantly bickered and fought. The team disbanded when the Shoshiki girl became disfigured after a mission went wrong and she promptly retired. Mai and Shouta went on to work together for a year as a duo

At age 16, Mai was promoted to chuunin. As a chuunin she worked with numerous shinobi from all different backgrounds. Her favorite was an Akari. They had similar personalities, but one day she stopped showing up. Mai heard a rumor that she had been killed in one of the Akari clan's rituals. The news cemented her belief that the Enkouten was the crown jewel of Iwagakure's clans and houses; the others seemed to fight amongst themselves too much and she believed it was a sign of their weakness. From then on the tried to lead by example and make her clan proud. During this time, her uncle Kaizen nearly died in the sealing of the Life genma. The incident cut the village council in half, and it shook the village to its very foundations. This event had a profound effect on the young Enkouten. Up to that moment she thought her uncle - the clan's infallible leader - was near untouchable. But she realized he would someday pass, leaving a void in the clan. Even though her hope is that he lives a long life, her new hope was that she could grow enough to establish herself as his successor. She learned Shinden and began training her body in hopes of one day rivaling the strength of the venerated Tsuchikage.

When she turned 17, the Great Shinobi War broke out. Mai was eager to prove herself and led several missions. Although only a few were successful, the Enkouten was promoted directly to jounin several years into the war. Initially she saw this as a source of pride - she was so good that she was promoted mid-war - but later she realized the promotion partly happened because of the heavy losses Iwagakure endured in the war. They needed to replace the fallen, so the higher ups pushed her through the ranks. Though she had no doubt that she had earned her position, the knowledge that she was promoted moreso out of necessity soured her feelings about her new title.

When the war ended in stalemate, Mai found herself furious at Iwagakure's perceived loss. She broodily and obsessively trained, and when it was time for the Wind Country Invasion, she was ready. She played only a minor role in the invasion, the glory instead going to the kage, his bannin, and a few others who heroically led the invasion to success. In the present day she continues her training, hoping to bask in Iwagakure's glory as the village continues its expansion.

Youton
Born to the Enkouten clan, this user is able to utilize Lava Release, a fusion composed of Doton and Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require Youton. Youton has a melting effect.
Passive (Melting/Hardening)Show
Youton melts in all its techniques, making it a powerful offensive and defensive ability. Enkouton are resistant to Youton for short periods of time, but can be just as damaged by it as a normal person, even by their own techniques, if exposed for too long. The melting quality of Youton burns at such an high temperature that it tends to encapsulate everything in it's path. Despite this, however, weaker youton jutsu struggle to sustain themselves and tend to only give weaker burns to those who come in contact with it. Youton have been known to dull weapons, or even melt weapons at high levels, and flow through defensive jutsu. More importantly, the melting power of youton means that youton techniques passively reduce the strength of anything they're in contact with by 1/4th th strength of the youton jutsu per post after contact. This means a 20 strength youton technique would do 20 strength of damage at impact, then melt at 5 strength per post until it hardened. This allows youton jutsu to substantially weaken defenses over time.
Hardening:
Youton jutsu naturally harden over the course of time. Below is a chart for the longest a youton jutsu can sustain itself. The length of a jutsu is a given, but can be specified to be less than the listed amount should the user so desire. Once hardened, Youton jutsu have only 1 strength, being extremely brittle.

Passive (Enduring)Show
Doton has a passive effect of Endurance, which means that it's power is retained throughout the entirety of the jutsu. All of a single doton jutsu retains the strength of the jutsu, even after the jutsu has been destroyed, and unlike other jutsu, doton does not fade when destroyed. This means that if a doton barrier with 25 strength is cut in half and falls to the ground, a part of that barrier could be picked up and carried as a hand held shield which would still have 25 strength, despite being a fractured part of a jutsu. This creates incredibly potent defenses, making doton a popular affinity among defensive fighters.

Fuuton has a natural cutting property to it, that exists in all jutsu unless otherwise stated. This gives fuuton a unique opportunity to strike with additional power, and to act as a offensive defense. Regardless of their purpose fuuton jutsu passively cut with no distinct pattern at 1/2 the strength of the technique rounded down unless otherwise stated. This means if someone punched a 20 strength fuuton wall, they would get cuts on their hand applied with 10 strength. This also means that fuuton jutsu specifically designated to cut things can create devastating wound by essentially striking twice.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user will kick one of their legs at the ground, skimming their foot just over the surface of the earth. Chakra at the bottom of the foot converts the ground into lava, splashing forward up to 10 meters with a speed equal to the user’s strength and an impact strength equal to the user’s control.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user will focus chakra into one of their fists before punching forward. This causes a burst of lava to leap forward from the fist with a speed equal to the user’s strength and an impact strength equal to the user’s control.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user will form a sphere of lava the size of a tennis ball in one hand. The sphere can be thrown and explodes on impact, with a blast radius of 10 meters in any direction, and a strength equal to the user’s control. This jutsu causes 1st degree burns. The lava hardens over the span of 3 posts, reducing the strength of impacted objects by 1 strength per post.

This causes a circular wall of lava to form directly around the user, shooting upwards from the ground with a speed and impact strength equal to the user’s control stat. After performing a string of hand seals, the user thrusts their hands forward, causing lava to burst from the ground 1 meter ahead of them. The lava then moves forward up to 10 meters with a speed and impact strength equal to the user’s control.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user will cover the surface of their body with Youton chakra. Physical contact with the user triggers the technique, causing lava to burst outwards from the point of contact with a speed and impact strength equal to the user’s control. This jutsu causes 1st degree burns. The lava hardens over the span of 3 posts, reducing the strength of impacted objects by 2 strength per post. The jutsu lasts until triggered or for 3 posts, at which point it dissipates harmlessly.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user will stomp on the ground to send a wave of Youton chakra rippling out in a 25 meter radius. This wave moves at a strength and speed equal to the user's control stat, potentially unbalancing nearby targets, and leaving puddles of Youton in its wake. These puddles remain for five posts and are five feet deep.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user will thrust one hand upwards causing a rush of Youton to burst from the ground within 25 meters of the user. This geyser is 10 feet wide and 5 feet high, moving at a speed and strength equal to the user's control stat. This lasts for 5 posts, hardening over those posts and causing first degree burns.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user will focus chakra into the ground through their feet. This infuses the ground with Youton chakra, creating a circular trap with a radius of 25 meters with the user at the center. If someone aside from the user were to step within the range, lava would burst upwards with a speed and strength equal to the user’s control stat, causing first degree burns.

B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing a string of hand seals, the user stomps on the ground and infuses it with Youton chakra within a 40 meter area with the caster at the center of this area. Spikes will begin to erupt from the ground, at random intervals and random locations within the area, at a strength and speed equal to the user's control stat, reaching a height of 15 meters before turning and coming back down to crash into the ground once more, potentially trapping anyone caught between the spikes. This jutsu lasts for a total of 7 posts.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user infuses the ground beneath them with Youton chakra, covering a 40 meter area with the user at the center of this area. If anyone other than the user steps into this area the trap is triggered and Youton lava in the form of chains erupt from the ground at a strength and speed equal to the control stat of the user to attempt to wrap around and bind the target at the wrists and ankles. Contact with these Youton chains causes burns, severity strength of the burns is determined by the user's control stat, this lava hardens after five posts and becomes brittle.

After performing a string of hand seals, the user creates a cyclone of Youton lava that can move in any direction from the user within 65 meters. It stands 50 meters high at full size, which it does not reach until it is 30 meters out from the user, and creates a vortex that sucks any targets into its swirling lava heat to meet first degree burns that are within 30 meters of the formation. Once it reaches its max range it will remain for up to six posts before it hardens and becomes brittle to fall apart.

After forming hand seals, the user slams their foot down, sending out a 3-meter x 3-meter x 1-meter wave of Chalk, travels at [control] Speed and Strength. This leaves Chalk on the ground along its path that will stick to anything that steps on it, interfering with jutsu it intercepts. The wave will then crash down and expel a 6-meter x 6-meter x 6-meter cloud of Chalk that will persist in the area for up to three posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

After forming hand seals, the user creates a 2 meter long, six-inch radius spike of Chalk that they then launch forward up to 5 meters away at [Control] Speed and Strength. When this technique strikes an opponent or target area, it spreads additional Chalk particulates in a 3-meter x 3-meter x 3-meter cloud that will persist in the area for up to three posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

After forming hand seals, the user fires a 3-meter diameter stream of Chalk at the opponent up to 10 meters away. This Chalk stream strikes with [Control] Speed and Strength. Upon reaching the end of its range or upon hitting an opponent or surface, the Chalk diffuses into a 3-meter x 3-meter x 3-meter cloud which will persist in the area for up to four posts. After forming hand seals, Chalk particles will begin to form along with the inscription of a target fuuinjutsu (or the top most fuuinjutsu if there are multiple fuuinjutsu layered over each other, such as trap fuuinjutsu). This technique does not disarm the fuuinjutsu, but it does place a [control] penalty on the Control threshold required to disarm the fuuinjutsu, meaning it is easier to remove or disarm. This technique does not apply the releasing passive to other fuuinjutsu with a single-use and must be applied to each fuuinjutsu if weakening multiple fuuinjutsu.

After forming hand seals, the user will summon Chalk particles already on the battlefield within a 25-meter diameter toward their location at a Speed equal to [Control]. For up to the next four posts, these Chalk particulates will follow the user wherever they travel, the passive working at [Control] Strength. The Chalk particles from this technique will have their post limit refresh and persist in the area for up to four posts. The passive debuff from this technique stacks with those of other Chalk Style techniques.

Shinden Taijutsu Emerging from the depths of the Marsh Country, Shinden is a style of Kenjutsu that focuses on one thing and one thing alone: overwhelming strength. While not completely forsaking flexibility, Shinden techniques are traditionally structured around downward slashes. Using a combination of their strength, gravity, inertia, centrifugal force, and technique, the practitioner brings unsurpassed might and death upon the heads of their opponents. Due to this quirk unique to Shinden, while sufficiently performed with a katana, users of this style typically prefer hafted weapons or heavier blades such as Nodachi, Odachi, and even Zanbatou. These large weapons further enhance the natural strengths the style's core mechanics provide, forgoing defense for brute strength and overwhelming power.

D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The use of larger swords and hafted weapons often makes close-quarters maneuvering of the practitioner's weapon more difficult. By placing one hand on the pommel/butt of the hilt or low section of the weapon's haft, the user is able to more easily maneuver, twist, slide, and flip their weapon in close quarters to cover a wider range of offensive and defensive options, using the second hand to give full power to their attacks and techniques. This Discipline represents the practitioner's mastery of this basic concept, allowing them to lessen the impact of their weapon's natural blind spots and weaknesses.

After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilize both hands equally and as effectively without any penalty. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.

Prerequisite(s): 8 Strength.
A practitioner of Shinden must be able to control their weapon as easily as their own breath. This Discipline represents the practitioner's capacity to both change the orientation of their weapon to cover a different part of their body while spinning said weapon and to immediately change the direction said weapon is spinning without loss of defensive or offensive momentum.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
One of Shinden's most basic offensive techniques, the practitioner raises their weapon over their head, using gravity and inertia to add momentum to their next attack. The practitioner then launches a ferocious two-handed swing in any single direction. The practitioner executes the cut in a circular motion, allowing them to quickly bring the weapon back to guard against a potential counterattack.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Strength, 8 Speed.
A simple yet devastating technique, the practitioner executes a powerful thrust towards the opponent. At the end of the thrust, or just as the blade is making contact with the opponent if it hits, the practitioner violently rotates the blade in any single direction and finishes the technique with a slash in the direction the sword was twisted. This additional rotation and slash at the end can further damage opponents or catch an opponent that has evaded the original thrust by strafing to either side, ducking, or jumping.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A simple setup technique, the practitioner quickly and continuously spins their weapon in their hands, capable of switching their weapon between each hand if they wish. This technique can serve as a defense against projectiles and attacks, but its primary purpose is to set up the practitioner for their next attack or technique. Any attack or technique used after the practitioner uses this technique will be instantly launched at the practitioner's maximum Strength and Speed.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Designed to catch unsuspecting foes by surprise, the practitioner can use this technique either as an offensive technique or as a counterattack. Using part of their weapon's hilt or guard (i.e. the pommel/butt of a sword's hilt), the practitioner bashes the opponent's head or face with the handle of their weapon before coming down with a swing in the opposite direction of the first strike. Landing the first blow makes it more likely that the second attack will find purchase on the opening created by the first attack of this technique. If the practitioner's Strength is 5 higher than the opponent's Endurance, this technique will cause immediate localized inflammation and hairline fractures on the point of impact.

C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Shinden users understand that the size of their weapons cause naturally occurring blind spots and have trained to shore up those weaknesses in their defense. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to more finely control the natural blind spots of their weapons, passively strengthening their defenses and even allowing the practitioner to bait ignorant opponents into traps. This Discipline also allows the practitioner to easily wield their preferred two-handed weapon with one hand, if applicable.

C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 15 Strength, 15 Speed.
The practitioner will engage their weapon in a continuous spin, the weapon spinning in multiple directions so as to cover the practitioner on all sides. This seemingly chaotic series of spins actually serves as a simultaneous defense and offense for the practitioner, allowing them to both defend against an opponent's attacks and projectiles as well as rush the opponent with a flurry of alternating strikes from a variety of angles. The practitioner can maintain this technique for a number of posts equal to their Strength stat.

B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Shinden practitioners learn how to handle their large weapons so accurately that they wield them as proficiently as any normal warrior with a smaller weapon. This Discipline represents the practitioner’s capacity to seamlessly fight with their two-handed weapon of choice as if it were a one-handed weapon. This allows them to perform quicker, more complex movements, guards, and attacks with their weapon of choice without any penalty related to the size or weight of the weapon.
