KOTO YOSHIZAKI
Dandelion
"This place represents the power and overwhelming strength of nature... why should one single species eradicate millions?"

[Nindo]

General Information Age: 12
Gender: M
Height: 5 ft. 1 inches
Weight: 105 pounds
Physical Features:
  • Face/head: There are typically petals from one of the most ornate flowers this absolute tree-hugger could manage to get his hands on. Given his very pale skin, it's typically easy to see the frequent bruises proudly on display as his forehead or cheeks given a spill from a tree, if he suspects a venture through the swampland's given him the opportunity to add to his categorization log. He has long, very curly, out of control hair that earns him the nickname dandelion. Pale face, pale eyebrows, pale white hair, and a gigantic smile that's almost always plastered across his face, especially when he's directly addressed.
  • Body: Slender shoulders, long arms, and a slender, lanky frame are the most prominent features Koto's offering at first impression. He's primarily carrying around his teen survival guide (of his own making), categorizing the plant types in the general vicinity for documentation of rare breeds. He's got his pouch holding his tools at his right hip, and his hands are frequently wrapped in tape or gloved to protect him from any unpleasant sharps.
  • Notable Features:Wild, white hair, slender frame.
Clothing/Accessories: In his casual clothing, Koto's likely to opt for a long sleeved black turtleneck that he'd wear almost anywhere in any temperature because you don't wear exposed skin where he's from. He almost always has his green rain jacket with him, and if it isn't appropriate to wear it, he'll wear it like a scarf or around his waist.

Personality:
  • General: Koto is typically pretty stuck between two polar opposites - shy and reserved, constantly second guessing and trying to find his way, and strong, somewhat overbearing, and pretty comfortable. Koto’s unsure of who he is without strong guidance, but has a general sense for what his ninja way SHOULD be.
Backstory/Biography:Koto was born underneath a parent who made the preservation of nature and life through the ever-shifting cultural landscapes, Koto is used to being told how to act, and what to believe. His father’s proficient in the usage of ninjutsu as a method for detecting disturbances in chakra and aiding living beings with returning to their natural state, as well as botany as a manner to curb the relentless efforts of those pursuing power on the natural landscape.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Increasing biodiversity, ending the scorching of plant life and animal life in pointless conflicts and wars.
  • Fears: The destruction of the vast amounts of biodiversity in Kiri, which he sees as medicines, food, and ultimately culture.
  • Combat Mentality: Winning in the most efficient manner with as little cost to the environment and the least amount of senseless violence. Kills rarely. Completely against all fire style jutsu.

Suiton:
Suiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Suiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Suiton affinity. Suiton has a passive enveloping effect.
Passive (Enveloping)Show
Suiton's effect is enveloping, meaning that suiton passively surrounds anything that it makes contact with. Suiton techniques that do not last over periods of times (i.e, exploding techniques) drench their opponents, but long term techniques will envelop anything they come in contact with and maintain a hold on it with the 3/4th strength of the technique, rounded down. This means that if a suiton wave is shot forward with 17 strength, it will envelope and move anything with it that does not have more than 12 strength to resist it. This allows Suiton to fill a very powerful role in eliminating tools from opponent's access and capturing targets.

NinjutsuShow
*Suiton • Wet Spot
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will expel a 3 meter diameter sphere of water from their mouth at speed of 5 up to 10 meters away. Upon impact it will burst spilling all over the immediate area making it extremely slippery. Those without 5 taijutsu or higher will not be able to hold their footing on this wet spot and will slip around.

*Suiton • Defensive Barrier
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will spray water created from the inside of their chest through their mouth. Once the water is expelled, it will form an umbrella shape that is concave to the user and about two meters in diameter. This defense is somewhat solid and can be formed in any direction the user can spit, up to five meters away. The defense is shot at a speed of 5 and has a strength of 5 and unless completely destroyed it lasts for three posts before falling lifelessly to the ground.
TaijutsuShow

*[Flawless Aim Style • Hidden Shot]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
By launching two projectiles, one immediately after the other, the practitioner attempts to create a decoy for the second. The first projectile is often larger or of equal size, and the second projectile is slightly behind and below it, the second projectile hiding in the first projectile's shadow. This masks the second projectile and makes it more difficult for the opponent to completely avoid. Perceptive opponents who have an Instinct greater than the user’s Taijutsu may be able to see both projectiles clearly within a reasonable distance, though they'll still have to properly defend against it.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Evasive Maneuvers]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The practitioner has learned how to accurately launch projectiles while moving through the flow of combat. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to accurately launch projectiles while moving at full Speed, while jumping, rolling, sliding off the ground, or while performing other basic combat movements.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Sentinel Shot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Taking multiple projectiles into hand and priming the muscle groups required for launching projectile weapons, the practitioner can quickly shoot projectiles in rapid succession and just as quickly reload. While in this Stance, the practitioner can maintain a near-constant stream of projectile attacks. However, due to the amount of coordination required for this Stance, their movement is limited, suffering a -3 Speed penalty while in this Stance.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Rapid Reload]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After years of training, the practitioner has learned how to quickly and accurately access their ranged weapon stores at all times in combat. This cuts the effective "reload" time by half, up to a maximum speed equal to the practitioner's Speed score. This also applies to returning unused projectiles to their storage containers or switching between types of projectile weaponry.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Tracking]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to read an opponent's movements and adjust their aim accordingly to compensate without penalty. This Discipline allows the practitioner to accurately hit moving targets, though sudden changes in the opponent's movements will still affect accuracy.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Arcing Shot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner can launch projectiles in arcs up and over most obstacles, being able to accurately hit a target that is behind obstructions as if they were in the open. The practitioner must still be able to locate their target by some other means to ensure the projectile will hit its target.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Bouncing Shot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner launches a projectile at a shallow angle, targeting the ground or a hard surface. The shallow angle of the shot causes the projectile to bounce off of the surface, moving at -1 Speed and striking with -1 Strength after the bounce. This technique can be used to launch an attack from an unexpected angle or to shoot around, over, or under obstacles.

History
Historical AccountsShow

So much of the agricultural growth in Kiri's development is about creating grain that's functional within the hands of your everyday person - it doesn't take the best shinobi or genius to figure out the function of flax seeds in a health diet, or how to weave or treat jute enough to create sustainable, functional rope. The Yoshizaki are a people who are not from the farms of the Water Country, but of the people who lived in the deepest bogs, in the most rank swamps, and loathe the concept of farming for agricultural purposes. Instead of reproducing desired plants, these are tree-huggers of the highest caliber whose connection with nature guides their purpose. Rather than breed desirable traits into their plants, they are the survivors! Koto, Dandelion, was named after his hair, as well as one of his favorite ingredients for food, only second to moss and a treat of a wild onion if a scavengers hunt goes lucky. Koto was raised in a family of Yoshizaki, primarily learning the way of his people by their nature of living. With little written education or proper education, Koto's upbringing focused on honing in on nature and becoming one with his country. This included many spiritual journeys while being taught about which plants can be consumed, and which plants can be distilled into proper poisons and tools. Most importantly, Koto was raised running into the aftermaths of horrible conflicts in Kiri, understanding artificial poisons, and gathering the information necessary to either reduce harm to the climate, or protect the biodiversity by seed collection if saving isn't possible. After scavenging behind a particularly unfortunate incident where an artificial poison was used to paralyze their opponent left the animal life of an entire marsh and forever harming the natural order in this environment, the Yoshizaki family abandoned the life of simply trying to reduce the after effects of shinobi conflicts, and instead opted for trying to end them.

Koto was raised in a large family with six brothers and four sisters. Koto’s father grew up as a shinobi whose distaste for the idea of such pointless war was reflected in respecting diversity through animal and plantlife, and showing that no matter the circumstances of one’s birth, anything is capable of thriving if nurtured and given attention. Ironically, being led by such a strong personality gave Koto the luxury of not having to make his own decisions. His journey into becoming a ninja is that of a search for the same passion that’ll aide him in gaining the same prowess as his father, enabling him to best detect ailments and use his strength, his belief, and his passion to be a defender of nature, since it cannot defend itself. This responsibility has been bestowed among him and his siblings, as they all compete to their 'sacred cause', still working under the influence of their Father's word. Secretly, exposure to the shinobi world's one of Koto's main access to information outside of his quiet, submissive mother's mumbling between apothecary work, and his helicopter, overbearing father's messages. The genin academy is his first introduction to education, and often days spent learning about kiri's history and culture are challenged by nights of spiritual education and lessons contradicting what he learned. The only difference is that in the latter, it's being told information without having the option to think for himself.

He's freshly out of the genin academy, but it wasn't an easy path. The genin academy was an extremely difficult challenge for Koto alongside much more skilled, disciplined shinobi-in-training, but he was encouraged forward by the flashes of potential he shows when he acts on his own instead of waiting for direction. While most tests of mental prowess were difficult challenges for him, Kato shined at never giving up and pushing forward.
