Age: 46
Gender: Male
Height: 6'2" [188cm]
Weight: 194lbs [88kg]
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown

Physical Features:

It would be hard to deny that Hayashi's most prominent physical feature - much to his annoyance - is his apparent age. Although barely past forty, his face and body both show the wear of a lifetime spent as a ninja, and it's no secret that most men of his age would be considering retirement. To imply that thought to Hayashi would be to deal him a direct insult, however; he still retains the strength and vigour of his prime years, complimented now by a good three decades of combat experience. He stands at a solid 6'2"; tall, broad-shouldered and sturdy, with eyes of a deep brown and black hair that, against all his denials, is showing clear strands of grey. On the rare days when he allows stubble to remain upon his face, it is even more grey-flecked than his hair. He allows his hair to grow long, and keeps it tied up formally in a topknot or ponytail. Thanks to maintaining a rigorous training discipline ever since he was a child, he keeps himself at a pinnacle of physical fitness, and thus far has managed to offset any age-related loss in nimbleness with raw experience and determination.

As a veteran of countless battles over his decades of service, he has enough accumulated injuries to cause any medic to start in surprise. A faint scar runs from his temple down across his left eye, interrupting the line of his eyebrows and granting him the ability to level a frighteningly cold stare at will. A long-since-healed stab wound has left a scar imprinted upon his far left abdomen, the skin around it coarse and slightly burned. Another notable scar, dark against his skin, begins on his left shoulder just above his collarbone and runs downwards, fading towards the centre of his chest. Most recently he has gained a lasting decolouration on the skin of both of his forearms, plus a patch of his central torso, from severe burns sustained during an invasion of Konoha. These last injuries still pain him daily, but they have also bred a reluctant new nickname amongst his peers: "Firebrand" - usually said in the form of "Hayashi Firebrand", or on occasion, "The Firebrand Terūin". A number of smaller cuts, gashes and burns are no stranger to his battle-tried body, and his hands are rough and calloused from so many years behind the hilt, but he has thankfully avoided lethal or debilitating injury so far in his career. Overall, Hayashi's stature is strong and imposing, and he walks with the steady yet confident steps of a seasoned soldier. He fully expects to retain much of his strength into his later years, much as his father has done.

Clothing & Accessories:
Beyond its utility for the job at hand, Hayashi does not concern himself with putting effort into his outfits. As a proud jounin of Konoha, he typically wears the modern deep green flak jacket that has become symbolic of the nation's ninja elite. Like its kin, this has several arrays of pockets and scroll compartments designed for swift access, located on the left and right abdomen, breast and lower back. Beneath this he wears a plain shirt. His legs are covered with dark, ankle-length trousers of a smooth fabric that allows muffled movement, and providing another set of pockets, complimented by the supple black shinobi-tabi socks and sandals that have become typical for ninja use. Stored in wrapped lengths around his forearms and ankles are absorbent bandages soaked with basic antitoxins, readily available to remove and dress wounds in a pinch. A kunai holster is tied securely to his right thigh. When wielding a blade, he adds a simple black leather sheath to his attire, typically worn hanging from the left waist to allow a swift weapon draw. Occasionally, or while travelling, he relocates the sheath to his back, where it can be drawn over-arm with his right hand.

When off-duty, Hayashi enjoys relaxing in casual clothing of no particular style, although his tastes have admittedly become more formal over the years. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to see him wearing his training attire - various colour combinations of hakama and haori, worn open at the front, or in warmer weather a short-sleeved gi belted tightly at the waist.

Hayashi's position as part of Konohagakure's ANBU division occasionally puts him in situations requiring another outfit. During such circumstances he typically wears a Konoha flak jacket that has been dyed a deep grey, near black. A white porcelain mask featuring a twisting black-and-red emblem of a crowned crane is used to conceal his face, pairing to his undercover codename Tanchōzuru. Although he often wears his hair differently or covered while on duty with the ANBU, situations of utmost secrecy additionally call for a dark cloak with deep hood to shroud his face and obscure the shape of his body.

Forehead Protector:
Hayashi recognises the importance and meaning behind bearing his village symbol on his forehead protector, and as such wears it openly whenever on duty, and keeps it on his person when not. It is typically tied securely around his forehead, with the metal plate front-facing, where it conceals the thin scar running down from his temple. While off-duty or on the training field, he has been known to relocate the band to his encircle his waist with the metal plate in the position of a belt buckle.

Personality:
As a youth, Hayashi was energetic and confident to the point of arrogance, the type to brashly proclaim his strength and lead a charge into battle. Thankfully, the years have calmed him considerably; Nowadays, the ageing man is reserved and taciturn in his manner, trusting to wisdom rather than adrenaline. He places a great deal of stock in being respectful to others until such a time as they suggest that they deserve otherwise. He thinks clearly if not overly quickly, but can be very stubborn and resolute once he has determined a course of action. After all, he considers himself just a simple soldier. Generally, he is quick to trust but careful never to fully lean upon another's shoulders - In his own eyes, he is the one who should be capable of supporting others rather than the other way around. In this manner he has a considerable amount of pride, and would consider a defeat as a personal slight against his ability. He pictures himself as a force of stability for his village and comrades, and as such is loyal and dependable unto the last.

To outsiders, he is strict and formal, and has established a reputation among many fellow Konohagakure shinobi of being a no-nonsense taskmaster. To his family and friends, however, the stoic façade is dropped and he becomes considerably easier to get along with, showing humour and open friendliness. He will often tease his comrades in a light-hearted manner, and enjoys spinning stories, reminiscing of his youth and days gone by. Many Genin and academy students consider him a scary and unwelcoming old man, making him one of their last choices in a mentor - but those he teaches quickly find that he is a fair and honest friend, and his wealth of experience is able to push them towards new heights of skill.

Ninjutsu Concentrations (4/8):
KatonShow
Katon Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Katon affinity. Katon has a passive ignition effect.
Katon's effect is ignition, which means that all katon jutsu, regardless of effect, start and spread fire from their source. Once a jutsu has been performed, the fire from the jutsu spreads at 1/3rd the speed of the technique, rounded down. That means a C-rank katon jutsu that moves at 13 speed would create subsequent fires that spread at 4 speed. These secondary fires require flammable material to continuously spread, otherwise they will burn out on their own.
Additionally, the strength of burns on organic material from katon jutsu is determined by the ninjutsu stat requirement.
  • 1-14 Strength Requirement: First Degree Burns
  • 15-24 Strength Requirement: Second Degree Burns
  • 25-34 Strength Requirement: Third Degree Burns
  • 35+ Strength Requirement: Fourth Degree Burns
FuutonShow
Fuuton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Fuuton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Fuuton affinity. Fuuton has a cutting effect.
Fuuton has a natural cutting property to it, that exists in all jutsu unless otherwise stated. This gives fuuton a unique opportunity to strike with additional power, and to act as a offensive defense. Regardless of their purpose fuuton jutsu passively cut with no distinct pattern at 1/2 the strength of the technique rounded down unless otherwise stated. This means if someone punched a 20 strength fuuton wall, they would get cuts on their hand applied with 10 strength. This also means that fuuton jutsu specifically designated to cut things can create devastating wound by essentially striking twice.
AshShow
Ash Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize ash, an extension composed of fuuton and katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require Ash. Ash has a clinging effect. You must be a former or present Konoha shinobi to utilize this concentration.
Ash naturally clings to anything it comes in contact with, which allows it to latch onto opponents and cause burns over a long period of time, limiting their ability to fight and weakening them substantially. The burning power of Ash is growth based, meaning all Ash jutsu will cause 1st degree burns at first contact, then get worse the longer contact is sustained. Below is a table detailing the worst the burn can get, based on the strength of the technique.
  • 1-14 Strength Requirement: First Degree Burns
  • 15-24 Strength Requirement: Second Degree Burns over 2 posts
  • 25-34 Strength Requirement: Third Degree Burns over 3 posts
  • 35+ Strength Requirement: Fourth Degree Burns over 4 posts.
HiarashitonShow
Hiarashiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to use Hiarashiton, a violent amalgam of Katon and Fuuton nature transformations that aims to enhance their combined potential towards terrifying extremes. Hiarashiton techniques begin at C-rank and possess a buffeting passive, exerting a gale force that opposes the direction of movement of anything inside or within range of the technique.
The intense heat of hiarashiton techniques inflicts burns according to the following burn table:
  • 1-14 Strength: Uncomfortable heat
  • 15-24 Strength: First degree burns
  • 25-34 Strength: Second degree burns
  • 35+ Strength: Third degree burns
  • 40+ Strength: Fourth degree burns
The buffeting strength of Hiarashiton scales based on distance to a technique, and is applied as follows:
  • Inside technique area: Buffeting force at 2/3 technique strength
  • 0-10 metres beyond the technique area: Buffeting force at 1/2 technique strength
  • 11-20 metres beyond the technique area: Buffeting force at 1/3 technique strength
  • No effect after 20 meters

Equipment:
Katana: 1. Hayashi's katana is an elegant and effective weapon. With a 30" blade and 12" handle, the weapon measures 33 inches in total including black iron tsuba, fuchi and kashira - each branded with the Teruuin family crest in gold emboss. The sword hilt is bound in ray skin, wrapped with high quality black cotton. The saya is a solid, matte black to avoid refraction. The sword weighs 2lbs 12oz, with a tapering width of 1.28" at the guard to .95" at the tip, with thicknesses of .30" to .25" respectively. The weapon is typically worn at Hayashi's waist, however is occasionally relegated to a shoulder-holster when traveling or cumbersome.
Kunai: 12. Ten are stored, readily available for quick-access, in a kunai pouch on Hayashi's right thigh. Two more are concealed in a pocket at the lower back of his flak jacket where they can be drawn discreetly.
Shuriken: 12. Four shuriken are stored in each pocket on Hayashi's right and left abdomen, while the remaining four are secured in reserve in his kunai pouch on his right thigh.
Makibishi: 12. Shaped like faceless tetrahedra of twisted, inch-long iron spikes, these tools always present a threat when dropped, and are sturdy enough to pierce through leather sandals and footwear. Difficult to store safely due to their shape, all twelve makibishi are secured in Hayashi's kunai pouch on his right thigh.
Wire: 20ft. Supple and flexible, this length of lightweight steel wire is strong enough to bind people and light objects together securely. Until needed, it is kept bundled in his right trouser pocket.
Explosive Tags: 9. Standard-issue explosive tags. Five are stored in scroll compartments on his jacket breast, two in the pocket on his lower back, and two in his kunai pouch on his right thigh.
Flash Bombs: 3. Standard-issue flash-tags, able to create a blinding burst of light upon detonation. One is kept in his lower back pocket, and two in his breast scroll compartments.
Smoke Bombs: 3. Standard-issue sachets that combust on contact with the ground to produce copious amounts of thick grey smoke able to conceal the immediate battlefield. Two are stored in breast jacket compartments, while one is kept in his left trouser pocket.
Bandages: 12ft. Around each forearm and each ankle are 3 feet of fresh bandages, tied securely and readily available for emergency binding of wounds in the field. Each bandage is pre-soaked in a broth of herbal disinfectants and willow bark, then dried, which grants them minor anaesthetic properties. They can be used to stem the bleeding of wounds and prevent infection until further treatment or recovery of an injury can be made.
HistoryShow
Boasting an age-old and traditional warrior heritage, the Teruuin are a prominent family hailing from the north-western reaches of the Land of Fire, along the mountain ranges bordering the Hot Spring Country. For countless generations they have sent their children and heirs to train and fight in the armies of the Land of Fire, to become strong and valuable soldiers supporting their homeland and its Daimyo. As potential soldiers, an integral part in the early education of every Teruuin youth has been war; strength at arms, skill on the field, trust in the chain of command, the responsibility of leadership, strategy and battlefield tactics. These traditions continue to the present day, with one addition; for the past four generations, children have been offered the chance to train and serve their country as Shinobi of Konohagakure rather than warriors below the Feudal lord and his generals. A branch of the family has existed in Konoha ever since, schooling their children to excel in the ninja arts rather than the disciplines of war - although, the family traditions are far from forgotten, and many ninja of the Teruuin develop into skilled Taijutsu users in their own right.

Terūin Hayashi is one such ninja. As eldest child to Terūin Chushiro and his wife, Saruhashi, Hayashi was born amid shinobi society in the heart of Konohagakure. An active and eager child, he grew fast and developed a passion to learn about the arts of warfare, marveling at histories of great battles and sieges and watching his father's training with awe. With each of his parents being accomplished ninja in their own right, he gladly followed in their steps and entered the ninja academy as soon as he was of age. Much to his dismay, family traditions and stories only go so far and as a student he often lagged behind his peers in studying the complexities of ninjutsu, genjutsu, and chakra control; he graduated at age twelve largely on the saving grace of diligent taijutsu training, with only just passable scores elsewhere.

As a young Genin, Hayashi remained plagued with insecurities about his capability as a ninja, but - as teenagers are wont to do - he quickly concealed such worries behind an increasingly arrogant and bashful persona. While his peers worked hard and devoted themselves to the training of new jutsu, Hayashi bragged about his natural talent with weaponry and secured a reputation as an aggressive - if admittedly skilled - taijutsu user. In his eyes, fighting up-close and personal was the true spirit of a battle, where the strong take the lead - and the weaker, less talented ninja should stay back as support, or hide behind their flashy ninjutsu. This led to an immediate clash with his new comrades; the rising star of the Awai, Shouya, the quiet and submissive Kazukawa Midori, and their medic-nin mentor, Imoko Nagase. He became the glass cannon of the group, the first to provoke and charge into a fight and the last to pick himself up from the field following it, and he was constantly berated and confronted about his ways. It took a harsh lesson to teach him his errors.

During the group's first attempt at Konohagakure's chuunin examinations, a survival task pitting each team against their rivals in a hostile environment resulted in the severe wounding of the group's third member, Midori. Without their Iijutsu-trained Sensei present to help them, Shouya and Hayashi were left alone to decide a course of action. Having defeated an opposing team and their task technically complete, Hayashi was adamant that they continue on and complete the exam, voicing confidently that he and Shouya could handle any enemy group that they might encounter - but his Awai comrade disagreed. Always a wonder-child, Shouya was everything Hayashi wasn't; Charismatic, good looking, popular, top of the class and praised as a genius when it came to ninjutsu - and not to mention the bearer of a respected family name. Since graduating the academy, however, he'd begun to see himself differently. Always under extreme pressure from his family and friends to excel, he worked harder than most of the people he knew in order to meet the impossible standards expected of him, but slowly, surely, he'd begun to resent those around him, and noticed in disbelief as his comrades continued to improve their skills without so much as half of the effort he put in himself.
And so - when Hayashi confidently turned to him, relying on Shouya yet again to protect the group from his own recklessness in the face of a wounded Midori and the untold dangers of other teams in the exam - he balked. Finally snapping under the pressure, he rounded on Hayashi in anger; after all, how could this layabout who hadn't even bothered to teach himself ninjutsu or genjutsu ever be a proper ninja? How could the fool, Hayashi, who was willing to risk his team mates' lives for a shot at becoming Chuunin, stand and expect Shouya to back him up? Shouya, who'd always been forced into leading the group, who'd trained harder than all of them only to still begin to feel like he was falling behind? The weight of emotion made the teenage Awai snap.

With tempers flaring, both Genin turned on one another. The stressed Shouya, angry at his treatment, angry at Hayashi's attitude, and resentful that the Teruuin boy could still stand as his equal despite Shouya's own surplus of training, easily goaded the headstrong and arrogant Hayashi into a fight. Both tired from the earlier engagement, however, the struggle was brief; Shouya's impressive ninjutsu and genjutsu initially staggered Hayashi, but the Teruuin boy succeeded in drawing his enraged opponent into a close-quarters duel, wherein he held the advantage and quickly incapacitated the Awai prodigy.
Although brief and undoubtedly a stupid fight, it was enough to teach Hayashi a little about his own situation and priorities. Exhausted yet calm, he realised that the Awai had been correct in his judgement; they weren't fit to continue as a team in the exam, and that was more important than striving on alone for the chance of glory. He knew that passing relied on their merits as a group, not as individuals, and so he apologised profusely to his friend, and together they helped Midori leave the arena in search of treatment, thereby withdrawing from the examinations.

Unfortunately, nerves had been struck within the fight in the arena. A rift began to form between Hayashi and Shouya and the dynamic of their team slowly changed. Hayashi reapplied himself to learning, studying and practicing alone or with Midori for long hours to grasp the lessons in ninjutsu and genjutsu that he'd shunned for so long, and trying day by day to change his attitude to his peers. For the first time since graduating the academy, he began to treasure his fellows as more than just comrades - they were dear friends, and realising this was his first milestone in understanding Konoha's Will of Fire. With these feelings empowering his devotion to training and his progress as a shinobi, Hayashi also set time aside to train under his father - a known master of the Shoryoutsuru school of kenjutsu - to further his taijutsu abilities.
In stark contrast to this, Shouya became more and more isolated from the group, often shying away from the burden of responsibility or watching with resentment as Hayashi began to gain respect for skills and achievements long ago conquered by himself. He grew despondent until he accidentally stumbled upon the Teruuin boy training alone and hard one night, whereupon he reflected on where his own commitment had gone. After this, he redoubled his efforts and became utterly single-minded on becoming stronger and more deserving of the title of ninja than any other. He swore to Hayashi that he would one day defeat him thoroughly and show him, in his own view, what a true ninja should be.

]
Two years passed between Hayashi's first and second attempts at becoming a Chuunin. The stark realisation he'd discovered during his team's initial trial convinced him of his need to improve, and while his two fellows strode onward and achieved their own promotions, he alone continued to train as a Genin. Being the third and final member of the group to leave behind that title only further helped to humble him; but when his second examination began, it was anything but humble.

His opponent was several years his elder, a tall, striking girl with long, raven-black hair named Yukio. Already a Chuunin of no small renown and the bearer of a great well of potential, she became known in later years as Yukio the Blacklance, a Jounin of terrifying aptitude. She wielded a pair of twin, vicious-looking black kama, and as a Suiton user - the perfect anathema to his own Katon ninjutsu - had been specifically selected to face him. She made his perfect nemesis. The fight was fast and brutal, the over-trained Genin managing to hold his ground and fight toe-to-toe with his opponent, and many times decisive blows from both combatants were dodged by a hair's breadth, or blocked in the critical moment. Only by playing on his strengths as a prodigious swordsman could Hayashi achieve his victory; and even then, so great was Yukio's skill that his success came with a vicious and bloody price. To this day he bears a totem of the Blacklance, a wide, dark scar running from his left shoulder and curving down to end towards the middle of his chest.

Some years later, the former team reunited on an extended assignment in the Land of Fire, far beyond the borders of Konohagakure. While they were at first pleased to be working together again, Hayashi and Midori soon realised that the years had not changed their remaining comrade for the better. Now becoming famous across the village as Konoha's "Sunflare", no doubt for his skill with the Awai's powerful Hiton release, Shouya had seemingly transitioned to a cold and callous soldier, terrifyingly effective in battle but indifferent to anything beyond the mission at hand; Every ninja in Konoha had heard of his near-perfect mission record and he was well on his way to become the first Jounin of their academy year. It was a point of much contrast to Hayashi, who in his youth had held a similar mindset and had since grown more mature and tolerant, that his former team mate had grown in the opposite manner. The task the group had been given was to quell a rising threat of banditry in one of the country's outlying villages, but the mission intel suggested that it was largely the work of one man - a former soldier who now put his strength into forcing others to his will. Despite this, it was Shouya's strategy to leave no room for error, and he ordered the entire outlaw encampment eliminated rather than the conservative approach of quietly assassinating just the leader - after which the regular men and women would, if Konoha's intel was correct, likely disperse harmlessly back to their former lives.

The assault was ruthless; caught in a trap orchestrated by Shouya, the bandits were cornered and unable to flee while the three ninja claimed life after life. Before long the urging of the group's leader - and the certainty of imminent death - spurred the remaining bandits into an increasingly desperate fight that began to test the team. With bandits fighting for their lives and pushing in around them, the outcome of the attack suddenly became much less certain, compounded even more so when Shouya, spotting the bandit leader attempting to flee in the confusion of the fight, left his comrades to face the remaining men as he entered pursuit. Hayashi and Midori were grossly outnumbered and barely survived the encounter, the latter receiving another serious wound.

Although they strongly disagreed with his methods, Hayashi and Midori understood the chain of command, and until the completion of the assignment followed their orders to the letter. Afterwards, however, the threads that bound the group began to unravel; finding Shouya standing over the mangled corpse of the bandit leader several hundred metres away from the encampment, Hayashi confronted him for his reckless strategy and actions, lamenting that they - yet again - had caused their team mate to suffer, and asked for his friend's help in returning her to the village quickly. He was shocked to the core when Shouya, blood dripping from his hands and staining his flak jacket, turned dead eyes upon him and shrugged. Again he broke, but this time not in anger or desperation, but after long and hard premeditation. In cold calmness he explained his growing distaste for the village, despising those who had crafted weapons out of people, forced their beliefs onto their children to create tools of war, and then looked upon them with condemnation when those ninja grew to be good at what they did. With growing malevolence, he began to recall stories of their youth; how he'd always lived in the shadow of his family name, expected to do better than everyone and greeted with disappointment if he failed, as if his last name was all that mattered to his family, friends, and all of Konoha. And how now, finally, he was stronger than the lot of them.

Unable to forget Hayashi's attitude when they were younger, Shouya told him that he was going to become even stronger still, and kill anyone who got in his way. Thinking that Hayashi shared the same ideals, he suggested that they leave together - but Hayashi had been a very different man for several years, and angrily tried to shake sense back into his friend. First and foremost, Midori needed their help - but Shouya, disappointed at Hayashi's new priorities, cared little. "If she's so weak, maybe she's better off dying here. It's a harsh world, and if she can't survive even a few untrained bandits..." he voiced aloud, before turning and leaving the scene. Filled with concern about both of his fellows, Hayashi chose to help the wounded Midori back to Konoha, and reported the events of the mission. His worry about Shouya only continued to grow when the Awai failed to return to Konoha.

With no sign of the missing Shouya over the passing days, their old mentor Imoko Nagase was brought in to reunite the team and locate their AWOL compatriot - although with Midori still recovering, Hayashi and Nagase alone left the village in pursuit. Their search took them to the far northern reaches of the Land of Fire, and over a week passed without any sign of their departed comrade until a fateful messenger-hawk arrived from Konoha: Shouya had been caught, not too far away, attempting to cross the country's north border. He was being detained at the border outpost. Upon arrival, however, the pair found his captors had been overpowered and killed, and a trail led into the forests and hills beyond.
Their pursuit was anticipated, the trail they followed being a diversion and leading them to a riverbed within a forested canyon, whereupon Shouya sprung his ambush. Unifying his considerable strength in Katon and Raiton, he ravaged the valley floor and the surrounding cliffs with staggeringly powerful Hiton techniques, trapping Hayashi beneath falling rubble and rounding on Nagase. Her attempts to reason with and console her lost student were quickly shunned aside as he attacked, outmanoeuvring his former teacher and landing blow after blow. Unable to keep Shouya at bay, she finally collapsed from the assault.

But the fight was far from over. Nagase's resistance had given Hayashi time to free himself and he launched himself at his old friend, furious and appalled by his actions. Both knew that Shouya couldn't return to the village peacefully after killing the ninja at the border, and years of bitterness culminated in neither even considering allowing the other to leave. Pushing himself to the limits, Hayashi turned the valley into a vortex of fire and wind in efforts to counter the onslaught of light, fire and lightning from his opponent. Ninjutsu countered ninjutsu, genjutsu countered genjutsu, until eventually the conflict rose to its close-quartered climax. With much of his energy having been spent defeating Nagase - and prior to that, fighting and fleeing the border - Shouya was unable to hold back the passionate Hayashi despite his greater skills. Drawing a blade laced with stunning Hiton chakra, he recalled the fight the two had had long ago in the arena of a chuunin exam, and stormed forward in a flurry of light-edged steel.

Under his father's tutelage, however, Hayashi wasn't far from becoming a true blademaster in his own right. The fight was long and arduous, both combatants giving and taking ground, narrowly avoiding sudden and violent deaths time and again. Bodies near their limit and muscles screaming for rest, they fought on and on. Although able to hold off his opponent, Shouya's mixing of Hiton jutsu into his swordplay prevented Hayashi from overcoming his foe, and after disorientating flashes and shocks of Raiton he was beginning to amass many minor wounds, each of which serving to slow and weaken him. A vicious slash across his face took the sight from his left eye, but still he pressed on, determined to end the fight. Eventually, exhausted and desperate, he resorted to using one last technique; preparing himself to strike, he allowed Shouya a fleeting, intentional opening. It was taken, and the searing-hot, glowing white Hiton blade sunk into Hayashi's left abdomen.
He caught it. He latched on to it with his left hand, holding the sword in his abdomen before striking his flawless retaliation. In one final slash, staggering in speed and ferocity, he clove Shouya's head from his body, then collapsed in exhaustion. He expected, and resigned himself, to die there and then in that valley, still holding his friend's sword in his gut as their blood drained and mixed into a sickening pool around them.

Hayashi woke several days following the events north of the border, confined to a Konohagakure hospital bed. Imoko Nagase had regained consciousness during Hayashi's fight with Shouya, but had been unable to assist before it was over - but she had immediately set about attempting to save at least one of her students in its aftermath. A medical expert, she had managed to heal Hayashi's vision and stop the bleeding of his abdominal wound at the scene, before returning with both boys to Konoha. Although having gone rogue, Awai Shouya was still buried by his family and friends in the village cemetery, where his grave remains to this day. Over time, both Kazukawa Midori and Hayashi recovered from the ordeal, and soon after resumed their duties as ninja of Konoha.

Concerned about his influence on others due to his history with Shouya, Hayashi continued to work alone for several years, and succeeded in becoming a Special Jounin at the age of nineteen. At twenty-three he achieved the rank of Jounin and continued to improve his skills, becoming a valuable asset to the village and serving in many different roles for his country. From twenty-five to twenty-seven he spent time away from the village, assigned to various guard posts and undertaking a long-term espionage assignment across the Land of Fire. Upon his return, he was presented with a surprising new opportunity: Mentoring.

One of his friends and comrades, Senju Toshiaki, came to Hayashi with a request for help. As a team leader, Toshiaki had spent a number of years training and teaching a group of three Genin, but was finding a replacement mentor difficult upon one of his student's promotion to Chuunin. He himself would be working with the promotee, leaving the remaining two Genin - two boys, Hidaka Koji and Natsuki Takeo, alone. Hayashi was reluctant. Plagued by memories of Shouya and his slow shift to hatred, he was not convinced that he would be a positive influence on younger ninja, and begged Toshiaki to search elsewhere. The Senju did not relent, instead insisting upon it - he claimed to see in Hayashi a wisdom and a caring that could be used in no better way. Eventually they came to an agreement, and Hayashi gained his first squad of Genin. His first team, now looked back upon as being Hayashi-Tai Issei, consisted of Koji, Takeo, and Takeo's sister Natsuki Ayame.

Toshiaki had been correct in his judgments, and Hayashi very quickly found himself warming to the role of mentor. Although not fresh graduates by some margin, he continued to work with and nurture the fledgling shinobi until each one of them qualified as Chuunin. It took two years, and he was saddened to see them outgrow him, but also incredibly proud. He forged a unique bond with Takeo especially, and the two remain firm friends to this day.

Soon after parting ways with his first unit, Hayashi used his sudden influx of free time to focus on his own wants and desires. On the eve of his thirtieth birthday he married a young kunoichi named Kohana, and together they settled on the eastern edge of the village. Together they began a family, starting with a daughter, Shiori, now sixteen and a talented chuunin herself, and followed soon after by a son, Tetsuya, who is now ten and is progressing well with his own academy education in the hope of following in his father's footsteps.

In the years since, Hayashi accepted and trained another two squads - and declined or failed many countless more, to the point where he gained a harsh reputation among the village's genin and academy student population. At forty-two, he accepted his fourth team - Hayashi-Tai Yonsei, more formally known as Team 20. Among their number he discovered a new star of the Awai clan, Fanho, along with clan-mate Sensu (who together caused Hayashi a great deal of reflection, given his former experience with the clan) and a timid girl, Shibata Noriko. While Sensu and Noriko succeeded as Genin, they did not remain long under Hayashi's strict tutelage. Fanho alone remained, displaying impressive potential and a developing strength that soon saw him reaching the rank of Chuunin with only minimal guidance from Hayashi. Despite this, the two continue to work together often and share a strong relationship.

Soon after accepting mentorship of that team, Hayashi played an integral role in the defense of his home, Konohagakure, during its invasion by two missing-ninja of great and terrible power, Fushinkou Yaku and one known only as Enma. Surging across the unsuspecting village, the two hostile ninja sowed chaos as a distraction - or, perhaps, for their own twisted amusement - before infiltrating, stealing from and assassinating the then-head of the Hyuuga clan. In an attempt to save those he could, Hayashi responded to the scene of Konoha's central ninja academy, which was ablaze and laden with Enma's summoned, explosively-primed crows. Alongside two Chuunin, Koizumi Kuodachi and Yojinoka Saburo, he succeeded in evacuating and saving several classes of students. He was then called for duty elsewhere, and took part in the final pursuit and confrontation of the two missing-ninja before their escape from the village. While he could not stand against men of such power, he gained three things from the day: Firstly, a series of deep red burn-scars that envelop his forearms and mar his torso, which have in turn sparked the nickname "Firebrand" for him among his comrades; secondly, a deep and seething hatred of the monster known as Enma, he who maims and slaughters innocent children in droves for sheer amusement; and lastly, a new lease of determination and will to improve, a desire for the strength and wisdom to confront and kill that man.

That determination drove Hayashi, at the behest of his former student-turned-Hokage, Takeo, to join the ranks of a reformed Konohagakure ANBU organisation. At first, Hayashi was concerned that his skills had likely been dulled from the years of working alongside genin teams, but among such elites he quickly found that the opposite was true; he was still the fearsome warrior he'd been in his youth, and easily the match of his younger, deadly peers among the group.

While still working and honing his skills with the ANBU, he has recently opted to accept another squad of genin. Once again taking the role of mentor, he supports Senju Touka, Senju Kyogi, and Awai Michio as part of Hayashi-Tai Gosei

Non-Elemental Ninjutsu

  D-Rank: 5
Ninjutsu • Minor Reinforcement
D-Rank Ninjutsu
Following a short set of hand seals, the user distributes a small quantity of chakra throughout the musculature across their body, extending their resistance to physical trauma. As a result, the user is able to resist blunt impacts and taijutsu with a strength of 5 or less for the following three posts.

*[Ninjutsu • Hidden Needles]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will focus chakra into their mouths and into up to five senbon within 3 feet of their position. The senbon will be summoned from their persons or nearby into the user's mouth, where they will be spit out aided by chakra at a speed of 6 and strength of 4. The senbon can be shot up to 7 meters away.

*[Ninjutsu • Chakra Burst]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra into one of their fists, the user will then attempt to strike their target and if successful, they will release additional concussive force in the form of an outward explosion at D-Rank force from their fist. If the user does not strike a target within 3 posts the jutsu dissipates.

[Ninjutsu • Sensory Deprivation: Hearing]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
A technique used for a variety of purposes, each unique to the user's needs, the user focuses chakra into their ears after a brief set of hand seals. This chakra will acts as a sonic insulator, absorbing all incoming sound and rendering the user totally deaf until it is dispelled. This can be held as long as the user has chakra, but once it has ended, it has a cool-down period of two (2) posts before it can be used again.

    C-Rank: 3
[Ninjutsu • Rudimentary Reinforcement]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 15 Ninjutsu

Following a short set of hand seals, the user distributes a small quantity of chakra throughout the musculature across their body, extending their resistance to physical trauma. As a result, the user is able to resist blunt impacts and taijutsu with a strength of 15 or less for the following three posts.

[Ninjutsu • Reversal]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After a short string of handseals, the user focuses a small quantity of chakra between himself and one of their own clones, instantaneously switching places with it. This technique has a maximum range of 20 meters, can only be used once per thread, and counts as one of two teleportations for that thread.

[Ninjutsu • Large Chakra Burst]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After channeling chakra into one of their fists, the user will then attempt to strike their target and if successful, they will release additional concussive force in the form of an outward explosion at C-Rank force from their fist. If the user does not strike a target within four posts the jutsu dissipates.

      B-Rank: 2
*[Ninjutsu • Shadow Clone Technique]
B-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to 1/3rd the users stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies of the user in both appearance and substance. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but they will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed. Given that the clones are an exact replica of the user, they share the same stats except for stamina, which is determined by the number of clones presently in effect.

[Ninjutsu • Bodily Reinforcement]
B-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 24 Ninjutsu
Following a short set of hand seals, the user distributes a quantity of chakra throughout the musculature across their body, extending their resistance to physical trauma. As a result, the user is able to resist blunt impacts and taijutsu with a strength of 24 or less for the following five posts.

        A-Rank: 1
*[Ninjutsu • Advanced Shadow Clone Technique]
A-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to 1/3rd the user's stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies of the user in both appearance and substance. Given that the clones are an exact replica of the user, they share the same stats except for stamina, which is determined by the number of clones presently in effect. The advantage of this form of the technique is that once dispersed, the chakra distributed to the clones returns to the user, allowing any un-used chakra to be regained, slowing the draining usage of this technique. The chakra returns to the user at a different rate depending on the user's control.

  D-Rank: 5
*Katon • Fireball
D-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user draws in a deep breath before exhaling out a 1/2 meter diameter fireball at the opponent. It travels up to 10 meters away at a speed of 6 and a strength of 4.

*Katon • Torch
D-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will exhale a small jet of flame directly in front of them. The ball lights up the surrounding area in a 5 meter radius and has a durability of 5. Unless destroyed, it will stay locked in it's location for 5 posts before fading.

*Katon • Flame Jet
D-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user draws in a deep breath before exhaling out a cone that is up to five meters long and three meters wide at it's base. The cone travels at a speed of 6 and pushes with a strength of 4.

*Katon • Flame's Shadow
D-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user will create a copy of themselves out of katon chakra. The clone will be able to move with the stats labelled below, while also exploding with the force of a single exploding tag upon death into a burst of flames. The clone will only last for 3 posts.
  • Taijutsu: 2
  • Speed: 1
  • Strength: 1
  • Stamina: 2

*Katon • Heated Blade
D-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
By channeling katon chakra into a metal weapon or blade, the user will cause it to grow hotter and cover the blade in flames. The imbued weapon will be able to carve through defenses of 5 or less strength with ease.

    C-Rank: 5
*Katon • Scattering Flames
C-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user will puff their chest before spitting out a torrent of 15 individual fireballs, each 2 centimeter diameter. The fireballs are shot for up to 10 meters away at a speed of 9 and a strength of 1.

*Katon • Great Fireball
C-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user draws in a deep breath before exhaling a thin stream of flames up to 15 meters away at a speed of 10. Either at 15 meters, or if the stream makes impact with anything, the stream will erupt into a spherical C-Rank explosion, scattering flames all over the immediate area.

*Katon • Erupting Burning Finger
C-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
By channeling chakra into their fingers, the user then attempts to make contact with the opponent. In the event that the strike is successful, the fingers release a C-Rank Explosion of fire outward towards the targets body. If unused, lasts 3 posts.

*Katon • Ripple
C-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
By channeling katon chakra into their body, the user will release a short, uncontrolled burst of flame outward from their body that travels just a few centimeters and lasts hardly a second. The short-lived burst of flame pushes outward with a strength of 10.

*Katon • Bomb Creation
C-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
By channeling katon chakra into any item, the user will turn it into a ticking time bomb. Either when 3 posts are up or when activated through the use of Chakra Kai, the object will explode, releasing all the katon chakra in it in a C-Rank explosion and scattering flames in the immediate area.

      B-Rank: 3
*Katon • Flame Armor
B-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After the needed hand seals, the user will release an katon outward from their body rapidly as the fire twists around them. This fire forms a pseudo-defense against taijutsu because for the next three posts if anyone comes into contact with it they will receive severe second degree burns. Additionally, this technique can be used offensively for that reason.

*Katon • Burning Entrapment
B-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user exhales a ring of fire up to 20 meters away at a speed of 20. On impact the ring immediately erupts outwards and upwards as it's dancing flames form a dome with a 5 meter diameter and a 3 meter pitch. The dome is held together at a strength of 20 for 4 posts before falling apart into wild flames.

Katon • Backlash
B-Rank Katon Nintaijutsu
After focusing a large amount of Katon chakra into a held weapon, the user prepares a powerful explosive blast timed to complement a slash. Best used when parrying an incoming strike, but also very viable as an attack in its own right, the user releases the chakra instantaneously at the moment of striking with their weapon, resulting in a fiery explosion with a strength of 4 explosive tags. This engulfs a conical volume aligned towards the target with the user at the origin, confining the blast to the area ahead and preventing the user from being caught in the radius. The cone of fire fills 8 metres in length, and at its widest point has a diameter of 8 metres.

        A-Rank: 2
*Katon • Izanagi's Spear
A-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a condensed 5cm diameter, 3 meter long spear of fire in their hand then throw it at an opponent. At any time during the course of the spear's travel, the user may use Chakra Kai to activate the spear. This causes the spear to rapidly unwind and expand into a 10 meter long, 7 meter diameter whirlwind of fire at a speed of 30. On impact, the spear will then explode at A-Rank strength.

*Katon • Idol of Amaterasu
A-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user forms a clone made completely of Katon. This clone is incapable of performing ninjutsu, however is very adept at hand to hand combat and has the following stats:
  • Taijutsu: 20
  • Stamina: 20
  • Strength: 20
  • Speed: 25

          S-Rank: 1
*Katon • Humble Avatar of the Divine Sun God, Amaterasu
S-Rank Katon Ninjutsu
By channeling katon chakra into their body the user both protects themselves from and coats themselves in flames. For 4 posts, their body constantly exerts around 1 meter of flames which push out from their body at a strength of 35. This causes the user's body to become a living flame, causing fire wherever they go and burning all life in their path. In addition to this, the user can just once over the span of the 4 posts cause their encapsulating flame to pulsate and expand out 20 meters at a speed of 35 for an instant before returning to it's normal size.
Fuuton NinjutsuShow

Wind Style

  D-Rank: 5
*Fuuton • Vortex Screw
D-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After doing the needed hand seals, the user creates a small vortex of Fuuton chakra around a projectile in their hand that spins with a strength of 5. This causes the projectile to corkscrew through the air, allowing it to travel an extra 10m and applying the Fuuton passive when thrown. This doesn't make the projectile any faster, only increases its range and ability to cut.

*Fuuton • Enhanced Launch
D-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After doing the needed hand seals, the user gathers wind around their feet. Then, the user will use the wind to blast them from the ground, enabling them to leap into the air an extra 10 meters at 3 extra speed. The user also has 3 less Taijutsu until they once again touch the ground. Those with less than 5 Taijutsu (after deduction) will stumble and fall when trying to land. The Fuuton passive is not applied in this technique.

*Fuuton • Wind Skating
D-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user is able to glide on air as if they were skating on ice. This allows them to move faster (+3 speed) but lowers their accuracy and agility (-3 Taijutsu). This doesn't allow them to fly, but rather to travel over things like land, water, and ice with greater ease. The user is only held several inches off of the ground. This Jutsu does not expire until the user’s chakra supply runs out or the user shuts it off. The fuuton passive is not applied in this technique.

*Fuuton • Redirection
D-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user covers a projectile they are holding in fuuton empowered wind. Then, when the weapon has been thrown as normal, the user is able to change it's direction by up to 90 degrees once with no drop in momentum on the projectiles part. This technique only lasts one post.

*Fuuton • Wind Bullet
D-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After performing the required hand seals, the user expels a basket ball sized ball of wind from their mouth. This ball of wind travels up to 20m at 5 speed, and explodes with the strength of a single explosive tag on contact with solid matter or at the end of its range.

    C-Rank: 5
*Fuuton • Great Breakthrough
C-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
By performing the needed hand seals and bringing their hands to their mouth, the user can release a wide blast of air. This wave of air moves outward in a cone shape with a 15m width at the end of the cone and moves with a speed of 10. Once it makes contact with a substance, the wind both cuts at it and pushes it away with 10 strength. This blast goes out for a maximum of thirty feet if it doesn't hit anything, where it will dissipate into the surrounding air.

*Fuuton • Godly Mountain Wind
C-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After forming the necessary hand seals, the user will thrust their hands forward as a vortex of wind blasts through with a speed of 10. The vortex's direction can be controlled with a Control stat of at least 15. The control, however, is limited; it can only be moved in a 45 degree angle, up to three times. A hit from this vortex packs a large push back force, though the person can avoid being pushed back with a strength of 5 or greater. Control of this Jutsu fades after two posts and spans an area 3m wide and up to 20m in length. Direct hits result in long but shallow cuts on the victim's body, covering the whole radius of the techniques point of contact, no deeper than half an inch.

*Fuuton • Gale Blade
C-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After forming the necessary hand seals, the user coats their weapon in a vortex of wind. This extends the weapon's range by 1m while not adding anything to its weight for 5 posts. It also causes the weapon to gain an edge as sharp as your average sword. This also applies the fuuton passive with a strength of 10 on contact with an opponent.

*Fuuton • Wind Clone
C-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, the user will create a clone out of their fuuton chakra. This clone will be able to act entirely independently of the user for 5 posts before dissipating, with physical capabilities equal to the stats listed below. This clone applies the fuuton passive to enemies it touches.
Taijutsu: 6
Stamina: 6
Strength: 6
Speed: 9

*Fuuton • Tornado Trap
C-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
The user will first perform the required hand seals and then gather wind around an opponent. This will form a tornado around them at a speed of 12 which extends 10m into the air and has a radius of 3m. The tornado will push back anything that touches it with a strength of 8, while also cutting at whatever tries to push through as well as a kunai would with the same strength. This technique lasts for 4 posts.

      B-Rank: 4
*Fuuton • Vortex Pillar
B-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After performing the required hand seals, the user stirs a great amount of wind around their person. A tornado with a 10m radius will form around them at 20 speed, extending up to 30m in the air. This wall of wind is perfect for defence or trapping an opponent in an enclosed area. Anything that tries to pass through the winds will be sliced viciously with 20 strength blades of wind as sharp as katana blades. This technique lasts for 4 posts, unless released earlier.

Fuuton • Hurricane Blade
B-Rank Fuuton Nintaijutsu
By focusing Fuuton chakra into the blade of a held weapon, the user can choose to release a single powerful arc of Fuuton from the weapon when swung within that post. The gust of Fuuton is twice the length of the weapon used to create it, ten centimetres wide, and launches from the weapon at a speed of 20 to a maximum distance of 35m. With a strength of 20, a direct hit will deliver deep lacerations to the target, however anything within one metre of the arc after its release will still be hit with its passive effect, making a narrow miss still somewhat effective.

Fuuton • Whorl Trap
B-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After completing the needed hand seals, the user forms five rapidly spinning star-shaped gusts of Fuuton around their body, then fires them towards an opponent at a speed of 20. These stars arc inward towards the target from various angles, spiraling ever inwards at a high speed to trap the opponent. Upon reaching a metre away from the target, the stars with combine to form a raging tornado centred about the target that continuously cuts at those trapped within. This technique has a maximum range of 15 metres, and anyone trapped within can escape with a strength of 20 or higher. This technique lasts a maximum of 3 posts and is 5 strength weaker for each consecutive post.

Fuuton • Steel Cyclone
B-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
Following the required hand seals, the user draws a shuriken, kunai, or other small throwable weapon and pushes a large quantity Fuuton chakra into it before throwing it. At the execution of a Kai seal, the weapon releases its built-up Fuuton energy in the form of a great radial blast of cutting Fuuton with the power of 4 explosive tags. The blast itself is 8m3 in size, but the wave of wind flying outward from the epicentre can reach up to 15 metres with enough force to displace any airbourne particulates.

        A-Rank: 2
*Fuuton • Flying Swallow
A-Rank Fuuton Nintaijutsu
Prerequisite: Sharp Weapon
Focusing wind type chakra to his or her blades, the user of this technique is able to enhance the sharp quality of their wind-element chakra, invisibly extending the reach of the weapon by up to 1.5m. The cutting edge given to the weapon has a strength of 25. This technique lasts for 3 posts.

*Fuuton • Dragon's Tempest
A-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After forming the needed hand seals, a fierce whirlwind will radiate out from the user at 20 speed, surrounding the user with winds that will cut any opponent or object within range to pieces. There is a 2m radius around the user that would be the “eye of the storm.” If struck by this Jutsu the victims will face wounds so severe that they can be deadly, receiving deep cuts and hits equal to a strength of 30. This Jutsu covers an area of 40m in all directions.

          S-Rank: 1
*Fuuton • Dragon's Deadly Descent
S-Rank Fuuton Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will create a serpentine dragon of wind approximately 20m long and 10m in diameter. This dragon will move at a speed of 35 according to the user's will for 3 posts. While it does not have a hard skin, anything which it passes over will be exposed to incredibly strong blades of wind constantly roaring within it, which strike rapidly with a strength of 35. These roaring blades of wind not only constantly sound like the intimidating roar of a dragon, but are sharp enough to cut through steel. The user cannot move while controlling the dragon, nor can they cast any other techniques. The dragon may only move up to 200 meters away from the user.

Firestorm Style

    C-Rank: 5
Hiarashiton ¤ Welkin Sphere
C-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Following a series of hand seals, the user creates a dense orb of explosive katon chakra in their hand, itself contained within a basketball-sized swirling shell of fuuton, that can then be thrown physically towards a target. Whenever the fuuton shell is disturbed, such as upon contact with an object or the ground, the katon within will erupt outwards in a 2m diameter fiery explosion with 2 explosive tags worth of force, creating a vortex of fire at the point of impact that burns for two posts.

Hiarashiton ¤ Afterimage
C-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: 19 Ninjutsu

After performing the correct hand seals, the user will create a copy of themselves out of hiarashiton chakra. The clone will be able to move with the stats labelled below, while also exploding with the force of two exploding tags upon death into a small vortex of flame. The clone lasts for 4 posts.
  • Taijutsu: 4
  • Speed: 6
  • Strength: 1
  • Stamina: 1
Hiarashiton ¤ Fires of Heaven
C-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
After performing the required hand seals the user kneels down and slams their palms down into the ground to release a wave of hiarashiton chakra. At the point of their choosing within 15 metres, a 4 metre tall, 12 metre wide wall of swirling flame will erupt upwards at a speed of 10 and a strength of 10. This wall stays in place and burns for up to three posts.

Hiarashiton ¤ Epicentre
C-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
After performing a set of hand seals, the user whips up a whirlwind of fuuton and katon in a cylindrical tempest centred around their own body at a distance of two metres. The whirlwind forms at a speed of 10 and has a strength of 10. Used by itself, this tornado can be used as a means to prevent persons or objects from approaching the user, but it can additionally be used to keep the user’s own Hiarashiton techniques out of reach. The tempest of fire and wind forms a protected region with the user at its centre, allowing the user to safely enter into areas affected by their own Hiarashiton techniques without becoming subject to the burning heat or the buffeting winds. This protective whirlwind lasts for three posts.

Hiarashiton ¤ Radiant Sacrament
C-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: 18 Ninjutsu

After performing a short set of hand seals the user collects hiarashiton chakra into a 20cm diameter, three meter long spear which can be physically thrown towards a target. Once the spear is thrown, it will rapidly flex and distort, the shaft becoming serpentine as it homes towards its target. The spear will impact with a strength of 18 before erupting into a 2m radius sphere of flames which persist for two posts. The spear can make a single ≤90-degree turn towards its target while in flight. The spear can also be used directly without being thrown, at the risk of catching its user within the blast radius.

      B-Rank: 4
Hiarashiton ¤ Fulmination
B-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Used to amplify and extend an existing Hiarashiton technique, the user performs an additional set of hand seals to add to and manipulate the katon and fuuton chakras present in the target technique. This serves to focus and enhance it, stoking the flames to create a very intense burn and granting +10 strength to the original technique, as well as extending the duration by up to three posts.

Hiarashiton ¤ Cataclysm
B-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Used to amplify and prematurely end an existing Hiarashiton technique, the user coats a hand in katon chakra to protect it from the heat of their own technique before pressing it against the perimeter of the target technique. By releasing focused waves of katon and fuuton chakras, the user condenses the target technique down into a single concentrated area, reducing its size to a maximum of 10x10x10m and adding 20 to the original technique’s strength for as long as the user is touching and directing chakra into the area. Upon releasing their hand, the technique promptly self-extinguishes due to the intense burning and the loss of continued chakra input, and is further snuffed out by a closing shell fuuton which forces the technique to cease.

Hiarashiton ¤ Mantle of Flame
B-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Focusing on an existing hiarashiton technique, the user coats a hand in katon chakra to protect it from the heat of their own technique before pressing it against the perimeter of the target technique. By performing an additional set of hand seals to add to and manipulate the chakras present in the target technique, this technique allows the user to reshape, move, condense or expand the size of the target technique by up to [control] metres per post, and can be used to encircle and trap targets within the chosen technique. During shape manipulation, the fresh chakra enhances the target technique by +10 speed and +10 strength, and maintains its duration until Mantle of Flame is finished. The user must remain focused on this technique, and is unable to perform other techniques until Mantle of Flame is completed or cancelled. This technique can be maintained for a number of posts equal to the user's (stamina/5) posts, rounded down.

Hiarashiton ¤ Celestial Spire
B-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: 24 Ninjutsu

After performing the required hand seals, the user holds the final seal and pushes a wave of hiarashiton chakra into the ground or an object within 20 metres of their person. Upon releasing the final seal, a blazing column of hiarashiton will erupt upwards, rising thirty metres in height at a speed of 22, with a diameter of ten metres, and with a strength of 26. Once created, the pillar is stationary and continues to burn in place for four posts before fading away.

        A-Rank: 3
Hiarashiton ¤ Firmament
A-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
After performing the required hand seals the user sends a wave of hiarashiton chakra out into ground around them, causing a wide dome of violently swirling flames to erupt forth from the ground at a point of their choosing with 50 metres of their position. This dome can be up to 20 metres in diameter, or smaller if desired, forms at a speed of 30, and can be used as a barrier, enclosure, or trap that requires a strength of 20 or higher to break through. The dome can be formed either filled with hiarashiton, or with a hollow on the inside of up to 12 metres in diameter.

Hiarashiton ¤ Empyrean
A-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: 34 Ninjutsu

After performing the required hand seals, the user motions with their arms to release a pulsing wave of fuuton into the area ahead of them. This wave of fuuton reaches up to 70 metres away at a speed of 32 and applies the buffeting passive. At any point, the user may click their fingers to ignite a spark of katon chakra, instantaneously causing the entire technique area to ignite into a raging inferno of hiarashiton that burns with a strength of 36 for up to seven posts.

Hiarashiton ¤ Divine Radiance
A-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
After performing a short set of hand seals and coating a hand in katon chakra to protect it, the user forms three 50cm diameter, five metre long spears hovering in the air around them. By touching their katon-coated hand to the edge of a spear it can be physically thrown towards a target. Once thrown, the spears will distort into the shape of a coiled dragon as they homes to the target, impacting with 20 strength before erupting into a 20m radius sphere of flames which persist for up to five posts. The spears can make up to two ≤360-degree turns towards its target while homing in flight.

          S-Rank: 1
Hiarashiton ¤ Mandate of Heaven
S-Rank Hiarashiton Ninjutsu
After performing the required hand seals the user sends a wave of hiarashiton chakra out into ground around them, causing a wide dome of violently swirling flames to erupt forth from the ground at a point of their choosing with 100 metres of their position. This dome can be up to 50 metres in diameter, or smaller if desired, forms at a speed of 30, and can be used as a barrier, enclosure, or trap that requires a strength of 40 or higher to break through. The dome can be formed either filled with hiarashiton, or with a hollow on the inside of up to 25 metres in diameter.

Ash Style

  D-Rank: 5
*Ash • Ash Cloud
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will take a deep breath and exhale out a cloud of ash at a speed of 7 and with a strength of 3. The cloud will travel 3 meters in a single direction and will cling to whatever it first hits. If it hasn’t made contact with anything after 3 meters the cloud will merely disperse. Anyone with a strength of 3 or higher will be able to remove the ash from themselves. If left, the ash will cause 1st degree burns over the course of 1 post.

*Ash • Wall
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will expel ash from their mouth at a speed of 4. The ash will form a wall roughly 4 meters high and 2 meters wide and is very useful for blocking someone in. The wall has a strength of 6. Anyone who touches the wall will find that the ash will cling to them, leaving 1st degree burns over the course of one post. Unless broken, the wall will remain standing for 3 posts before dissipating.

*Ash • Don’t Choke
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals a condensed ball of ash will form in the user’s open hand at a speed of 5. They then have 2 posts to throw the ball in an attempt to hit the target’s head with a strength of 5. When the ball makes contact it will burst into a cloud of ash that can easily be inhaled by the target causing 1st degree burns to their throat and lungs.

Ash • Combustive Strike
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After forming the necessary hand seals, the user will form a small ball of compounded ash in their hand, roughly the size of a baseball, and throw it at a target. The ball of ash impacts with a strength of 5, but upon contact with another active Ash Jutsu, the entire affected area of Ash will explode with the intensity of one exploding tag. If it has not come into contact with another ash style jutsu within 3 posts of its creation it will become inert and lose its shape.

Ash • Ashen Veil
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing a short set of seals, the user will coat themselves with a thin veil of katon chakra and form a small shower of ash around themselves, allowing it to cling to their own skin. The protective veil of katon chakra prevents self-inflicted burning unless the ash enters an open wound, however, anyone who comes in contact with the user will receive first degree burns and have ash transferred onto them at that point. This technique lasts for 3 posts, during which the user appears matte black, like a shadow, wherever the ash covers them.

    C-Rank: 5
Ash • Ashen Cyclone
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will inhale deeply before expelling a large amount of ash in the form of a whirlwind that is 3 meters tall. The whirlwind moves at a speed of 9 and has a strength of 11. The whirlwind will travel for 10 meters in a straight line unless it come in contact with something, after which it will disperse into a cloud of ash. Anyone who comes in contact with the ash will receive 1st degree burns.

Ash • Crematory Grasp
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the requisite hand seals, the user will attempt to touch a target with a hand. Upon doing so, they release a wave of ash that erupts from the point of contact, wrapping around and encasing their target, with a maximum size of 3m3. If successful, the ash will try to work its way into the target’s mouth (if applicable) and down their throat, suffocating and burning them from the inside. The ash wraps around to cover the target at a speed of 10 and clings with a strength of 10, and is hot enough to cause immediate first degree burns.

*Ash • Watch your step!
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will create a condensed pile of ash on the ground with a speed of 10. This ash will lay dormant until the user performs a hand seal. When the pile is activated it will explode with the strength of 2 exploding tags. The ash will cling to anything it comes into contact with and cause 1st degree burns.

Ash • Ashwork Casket
C-Rank Ninjutsu
The user performs a set of hand seals before slamming an open palm down and pushing their chakra into the ground. At a point of their choosing within 15 metres, a thin column of ash will erupt from the ground, rising to a maximum height of 10 metres and a diameter of 3 metres at a speed of 12. Anything caught within this column will be bound and held tightly within densely compacted ash with a strength of 8. The column is burning hot to the touch and will cause first degree burns on contact. This technique lasts for 4 posts, after which the ash will begin to cool, lose its strength, and fall to the ground.

Ash • Ashen Sunset
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will create a cloud of ash 4m high in the air, which will then start to form spikes and rain them down on the target at a speed and strength of 10, respectively. This will produce and fire 5 spikes over the course of 2 posts. The ash will cling to anything it comes into contact with, causing 1st degree burns immediately.

      B-Rank: 4
Ash • Ashen Breath
B-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: 21 Ninjutsu

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a breath of ash but they will not release it into the air, instead holding it in though it must be released by the end of the second post. The user will then attempt to kiss, or otherwise get close to a target’s face before breathing out the ash. If inhaled, this will cause immediate first degree burns, escalating up to third degree burns to the user’s throat and lungs by the end of the third post.

Ash • To Blot the Sun
B-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: At least 1 B-Ranks worth of their own Ash in the immediate vicinity (or 2 C-Ranks, or 4 D-Ranks).

After forming the necessary hand seals, the user will throw their arms up into the air, and as they do so all of the Ash on the ground within a 25 Meter radius of their person will suddenly shoot up high into the air at a speed of 20, forming a nearly solid mass in the sky roughly the size of a circle with a 25 meter radius. This cloud of ash will blot out the light of the sun all across the surrounding area, decreasing visibility even more so than ash normally does. Additionally, it will begin to rain down the ash that rose into the sky, slowly drifting down and filling the area. It is important to note that if the Ash used in this technique has stopped burning, it will not re-heat. This jutsu has no effect on ash that was already airborne to begin with, which will otherwise continue to perform their usual function. This cloud will continue to rain down ash for 7 posts, and on 5th post the cloud itself will begin to fall to the ground as well.

Ash • Dread Field
B-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the requisite hand seals, the user will form a large ball of ash in their hand and throw it to the ground, whereupon it will erupt into a cloud of dense, burning, and clinging ash. The cloud will rapidly expand at a speed of 20 to occupy a sphere with radius of 20 metres, filling the air within. Anything inside the cloud will suffer first degree burns immediately, escalating to second degree burns by the second post, and the extent of regular vision will be reduced to 1m in any direction. The cloud can remain in the air for a maximum number of posts equal to 1/3 the user’s stamina, rounded up.

Ash • Ashwork Tomb
B-Rank Ninjutsu
The user performs a set of hand seals before slamming an open palm down and pushing their chakra into the ground. At a point of their choosing within 20 metres, a large column of ash will erupt from the ground, rising to a maximum height of 20 metres and a diameter of 5 metres at a speed of 20. Anything caught within this column will be bound and held tightly within densely compacted ash with a strength of 20. The column is burning hot to the touch and will cause first degree burns on contact, escalating to second burns after two posts. This technique lasts for 6 posts, after which the ash will begin to cool, lose its strength, and fall to the ground.

        A-Rank: 3
Ash • Ashen Eclipse
A-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will create a cloud of ash 6m high in the air, which will then start to form spikes and rain them down on the target at a speed and strength of 25, respectively. This will produce and fire 10 spikes over the course of 3 posts. The ash will cling to anything it comes into contact with, causing 1st degree burns immediately and 3rd degree burns after 3 posts.

Ash • Clone
A-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a clone made from ash. Anyone who comes into contact with the clone will have ash cling to them in that area, causing first degree burns at one post and fourth degree burns after 4 posts. If and when the clone is killed it will dissipate into a cloud of ash that will cover a small 3m radius for 2 posts. The clone possesses the following stats:
  • Taijutsu: 20
  • Stamina: 15
  • Strength: 20
  • Speed: 30

Ash • Ashwork Tower
A-Rank Ninjutsu
The user performs a set of hand seals before slamming an open palm down and pushing their chakra into the ground. At a point of their choosing within 30 metres, a towering column of ash will erupt from the ground, rising to a maximum height of 30 metres and a diameter of 10 metres at a speed of 20. Anything caught within this column will be bound and held tightly within densely compacted ash with a strength of 30. The column is incredibly hot to the touch and will cause first degree burns on contact, escalating to third burns after three posts. This technique lasts for 8 posts, after which the ash will begin to cool, lose its strength, and fall to the ground.

          S-Rank: 1
Ash • Unto Oblivion
S-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a tightly formed ball of ash in one hand, roughly the size of a basketball, which can then be thrown towards a target. Upon impact, the ball of ash hits with a strength of 35 and will erupt immediately outwards into a spherical cloud of ash with a radius of 50m. The ash is incredibly hot, clinging to anyone and anything within the cloud, and will cause first degree burns on impact which will escalate to third degree burns at the end of the third post. The ash will remain in the area for 6 posts.

Shuryoutsuru KenjutsuShow
~ S H U R Y Ō T S U R U ~
The Hunting Crane Style

Shuryoutsuru is a swift and domineering style of sword combat widely practised in the north and west of the Land of Fire. What began as exercises in dueling developed into an aggressive and skillful form of swordplay designed to overwhelm an opponent. As a style designed to gain superiority over armed foes in single combat, it is built around the adaptive nature of the katana but can, with effort, be adapted for use with many bladed weapons.

Drawing inspiration from the crane, a bird commonly referenced for its grace and beauty, the style emphasises performing kenjutsu techniques in fluid, decisive strikes, much like the bird in flight. A core aspect of Shuryoutsuru teachings is the discarding of unnecessary movement, to make every action as swift and efficient as possible. Practitioners typically study techniques with great repetition for many years in order to perfect their skill, resulting in strikes that are expertly executed, faster and more deadly than would otherwise be thought feasible in heated combat.
Requires: [Sword], [Perception], and [Close Quarters Combat] Concentrations

  D-Rank: 5
Shuryoutsuru • The Wading Stance
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
In the fundamental stance of Shuryoutsuru, the user adopts a core-centric posture that promotes ones ability to quickly react to incoming strikes and initiate their own. The user stands face-on to an opponent, one foot ahead of the other, and holds their blade hilt at waist height with the tip angled upwards towards an opponent's head or torso. The versatility of the stance grants the user +3 Taijutsu, however the adaptability of the posture prevents more powerful, sweeping blows, reducing the user's Strength output by 3 for its duration.

Shuryoutsuru • The Crane Takes Flight
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisites: Shuryoutsuru • The Wading Stance

A fast and vicious technique designed to overwhelm a foe. The user performs a series of three strikes before returning seamlessly to the beginning posture. While each strike is quick and powerful, the user is anticipating that the initial strikes will be blocked, leaving the final slash to be the effective component. For this reason, the difficulty and strength of the technique lies primarily in the recovery and transitory motions between the strikes rather than the power of the attacks alone.

Shuryoutsuru • Dance Under the Moon
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
A defensive manoeuvre in which the user remains light-footed and agile, this technique comprises of several swift slashes performed to parry incoming strikes or projectiles and divert them from their course. The user is able to deflect up to three incoming projectiles that have a speed equal or less than that of the user.

Shuryoutsuru • Parting the Stream
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
A basic form of parry and counter-attack against an attacking bladed opponent, the user moves as if to thrust his or her sword towards an enemy before rapidly pulling their blade vertically up- or down-wards, diverting the opponent's weapon safely away from the user while opening the target's guard for attack. If successful in creating an opening, the technique follows through with a torso-aimed slash designed to wound or push back an opponent.

Shuryoutsuru • Rest in the Waterfall
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
A simple technique used to retreat or buy time, the user readies a powerful slash designed to target an opponent's weapon and force them back, rather than targeting their body to wound. A defensive technique, it has the potential to deliver a blow forceful enough to halt an approaching assailant or force them back by up to three metres.

    C-Rank: 5
Shuryoutsuru • The Earth Stance
C-Rank Taijutsu Stance
A defensive stance, the user stands side-on to an opponent and drops the tip of their weapon to point towards the opponent's legs, with the hilt grasped near the waist. This grants a practitioner a stable lower-body and, with a focus on the opponent's movements, encourages quick defensive parries and counter-attacks over raw offensive capability. The low weapon position can sometimes be utilised to bait an opponent into attacking, initiating the possibility of a counter-attack by the user. The readiness and stability of the stance translates to a boost of +3 to both Stamina and Instinct, but penalises the user's Strength and Taijutsu due to its defensive nature.

Shuryoutsuru • The Crane Soars High
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisites: Shuryoutsuru • The Crane Takes Flight

The user begins a fast and seamless three-hit attack intending to de-guard and wound an opponent, striking from a neutral stance to execute the technique with minimal warning to opponents. Although each strike is strong enough to deal serious injury upon connecting, the user expects one or more of the slashes to be parried, and instead relies on the recovery between and swiftness of successive strikes to overwhelm a foe. If an opponent's guard has been knocked aside during the technique, the user can follow-through with a final piercing thrust designed to seriously wound or finish an opponent.

Shuryoutsuru • Keelback's Last Stand
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
A powerful, close-range attack, the user steps towards a foe before performing a flawless uppercut-slash. The technique intends to forcefully push within an opponent's range and break through a guard and/or push the opponent back. The user pushes his or her full weight into the strike, forcing themselves towards the opponent in order to add strength to the technique. A target struck with Keelback's Last Stand can be pushed back up to six metres.

Shuryoutsuru • Vigil in the Reeds
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Designed to gain control of the flow of a battle, this technique is applied immediately following the user having parried or blocked an incoming strike. The user takes advantage of the attacking enemies' momentum to turn their blade aside and surge into offence before the target has the opportunity to react, stepping within their guard while their blade is aside and performing a quick slash intending to wound or debilitate. Requires the user to have a Taijutsu skill equal to or greater than their opponent.

Shuryoutsuru • Parting the Storm
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisities: Shuryoutsuru • Parting the Stream

The user moves as if to thrust towards an armed opponent before rapidly twisting and hooking the target's weapon, then slashing away to perform an effective disarming motion. If successful in creating an opening or disarming the target, the technique continues in a simple and quick slash towards the opponent's torso with intent to wound. Generally a target is unlikely to retain their weapon without a Taijutsu skill equivalent to half that of the user, or greater.

      B-Rank: 3
Shuryoutsuru • The Heaven Stance
B-Rank Taijutsu Stance
An aggressive, offensive stance, the user stands face-on to an opponent with their blade hilt grasped at head height, blade angling backwards and away from an opponent. The range of motion granted by the stance adds a great amount of weight and strength to a strike, resulting in a +6 strength and +3 speed for a practitioner at the expense of -4 Taijutsu and -5 Instinct due to the defensive limitations of the position.

Shuryoutsuru • Harsh Cry of the Crane
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisites: Shuryoutsuru • The Heaven Stance

An aggressive single-strike attack. The user performs a frighteningly powerful, flawlessly executed vertical downward slash. With all the weight of the Heaven posture behind it, the technique has sufficient strength to break through an opponent's block or knock them back up to ten metres; or, if unhindered, cleave through them.

Shuryoutsuru • Whirlwind on the Water
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisites: Shuryoutsuru • The Crane Soars High

A vicious, spinning three-strike attack. The user leaps towards a foe, slashing and pivoting on one foot when closing into range. Continuing with the motion, they rotate and slash at various heights and angles, using the speed of the techniques spin to deliver forceful and decisive blows in an unpredictable pattern. By itself, the speed is sufficient to make the technique an effective counter to incoming ranged attacks. The spinning motion is used to emphasise speed and strength of the strikes, resulting in a technique that is exceedingly difficult to counter successfully.

        A-Rank: 2
Shuryoutsuru • The Hunting Stance
A-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisites: 10
Shuryoutsuru techniques, including Shuryoutsuru • The Wading Stance
An omnidirectional stance that allows the user to react to or strike at any angle, the user holds their blade pointing vertically upwards with the hilt positioned at head height and to one side. While simple in function, utilising the stance to its fullest extent requires a great deal of skill and a profound mastery over Shuryoutsuru and serves to boost ones combat versatility to by way of +5 Taijutsu, +5 Speed and +2 Instinct, however the bodily focus required results in a -6 to Control, and -3 to both Stamina and Strength.

Shuryoutsuru • Nightfall Through the Rushes
A-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisites: 30 Strength

The user focuses all attention on an opponent in order to react to the slightest hint of movement. The technique is the embodiment of readying oneself to attack and awaiting an incoming strike, then attacking first to interrupt and overwhelm an opponent while they are still readying their own strike. Just as a foe moves to attack, the user launches forward with a sudden burst of acceleration, instantly reaching and slashing at their maximum speed.

          S-Rank: 1
Shuryoutsuru Ougi • Turning of the Heavens
S-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisites: Must be trained at Fire Country Dojo, or learned from existing user; Shuryoutsuru • The Hunting Stance; Taijutsu 40; Speed 35

The user abandons all focus beyond that of the foe before them and channels every ounce of their experience and skill in swordsmanship in order to attain the strength of pseudo-heavenly taijutsu for all Shuryoutsuru techniques. To achieve this temporal mastery over their swordforms, the user enters a near trance-like state wherein their bodily control transcends that of mortal men, able to react to situations almost as quickly as mental impulse and thought allows. Such reactions allow the user to utilise any Shuryoutsuru kenjutsu manoeuvre regardless of prerequisite stance, and perfect and adapt their strikes in response to precursory motions of an opponent's movement with such speed and force so as to create shockwaves within the air from each attack. These shockwaves are the size and width of the weapon used to create them, and travel in a straight line for up to 25m from the point of creation before dissipating, unless first impacting a target. Due to the high level of mental and physical strain involved in such manoeuvres, Turning of the Heavens can only remain active for a maximum of four posts, and cannot be used again for a minimum of six posts after expiring. Additionally, the user can not utilise Ninjutsu or Genjutsu techniques while using this stance.
Iaido KenjutsuShow
~ I A I D O ~
The Way of Mental Presence and Immediate Reaction

Iaido Kenjutsu is a sword style originating from the Land of Tea that focuses on the fact that when first drawn, the linear motion and force of pulling a katana from its sheath are able to generate unusually fast slashes. Iaido capitalizes on this, it's samurai equally skilled in close range hand-to-hand fighting and then being able to switch to single fast slashes and stabs before returning to previous combat, making them unpredictable fighters.
Requires: [Sword] and [Perception] Concentrations

  D-Rank: 5
*[Iaido • Swift Draw]
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 5 Taijutsu, 8 Speed
With the most widely recognized attack of Iaido style, the user draws their katana at a very quick speed, making a powerful slash in tangent with the draw. This technique is dependent on the user's overall reaction speed as it is usually only used when an opening presents itself or when the user needs to draw their sword quickly.

*[Iaido • Block]
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 8 Speed
A technique developed out of need to protect himself from other weapon users, Block is simple in its use, but highly effective when used right. By partially drawing their sword, the user of this technique is able to use the back of their blade to block incoming weapon attacks should they time it correctly. The user must be careful when using this technique, should the attacker have a high enough strength, this technique could very well shatter the user's weapon.

*[Iaido • Hilt Strike]
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 8 Speed
A simple technique, Hilt Strike is designed for moments when the target is to close for the user to fully draw their sword. Gripping their hilt in a downward dagger position, the user will quickly draw their blade out as far as they can, and use the butt of the hilt to strike their target in an attempt to push them back and set them up for their other attacks.

*[Iaido • Cutting The Eyes]
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 8 Speed
A simple, yet very effective technique, Cutting The Eyes is a Line Draw aimed at the target's eyes. The user attempts to horizontally slash the target's eyes in order to remove their eyesight.

*[Iaido • Line Draw]
D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 8 Speed
The technique is recognized by its signature stance of one hand just below the opening of the katana sheath and the other firmly on the sword. Drawing the sword in one swift motion, the user creates a horizontal or vertical slash in front of themselves before sheathing the sword, often chaining these strikes together for greater effect.

    C-Rank: 5
*[Iaido • Beheading Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 15 Speed
The user draws their katana with one hand and slams their palm into the back of their blade to increase the force behind the swing made in any direction. This works with blunted side of a sword, but it can also draw out their strength and the blade's cutting power in full to quickly slash apart obstacles. Re-sheathing after this technique may take a bit longer; the placement of the hands following this technique make it difficult to re-sheath properly.

*[Iaido • Clash Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 15 Speed, 10 Instinct
In this technique, the user assumes a firm stance and then draws their weapon in an upward arc. This sort of draw makes it easy to bat away projectiles moving at a Speed equal to or lower than the user's Speed and Instinct stats. This also enables the user to cut through advancing techniques or to clash with an opponent's weapon. This movement, however, may leave the user without the ability to sheath his weapon for some time, limiting the effectiveness of their techniques until they can

*[Iaido • Reverse Line Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 8 Speed, 15 Taijutsu
A modified version of the original Line Draw, Reverse Line Draw is designed for use when one only has the use of one hand. Rather than drawing the blade in the typical fashion, the user will grip the hilt as they would when holding a sword so that the blade is pointing down. While the technique is the same as the original, the modified drawing requires an increase in skill to use. The user still draws their blade in one swift motion, creating a vertical, or, horizontal slash in front of themselves. The user often waits to sheath their sword until they regain the use of their other hand.

*[Iaido • Double Back Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 15 Speed
The technique realizes the concept of a draw's momentum increasing attack speed rather than the technique of drawing itself. With this concept, the user draws their weapon and then makes an upwards slash followed by a second downward slash, and then an immediate re-sheath. This causes two deep diagonal cuts in the direction of the draw and re-sheath that happen near instantaneously.

*[Iaido • Snap Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 15 Taijutsu, 15 Speed
With a honed body capable of producing torque within the user's muscles, the user is capable of achieving a 'Blurred Sword' effect in an attack. The user draws their sword with such speed and power that the strike itself is incredibly difficult to notice without a high amount of instinct.

      B-Rank: 3
*[Iaido • Iai Beheading Draw]
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: *Iaido • Beheading Draw, 25 Speed
With a Variation of the Beheading Draw technique, the user forces a very quick snap of tension and torque through their arm as they draw their sword sending it vertically or across with great speed. With its speed, the strike takes on a blur, many times not even appearing to be drawn from its sheath. This slash is also incredibly powerful with its speed, able to slice through stone in most cases with enough power.

*[Iaido • Breakneck Sheath]
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 25 Speed
Through incredible amounts of practice the user of this technique has gained such a vast knowledge of Iaido and their sheath in particular that they have perfected the art of sheathing their sword. As such, they can sheath their weapon single handed if need be, and can do so with the same blinding speed that they would deliver a slash with, allowing them to chain together attacks with even more speed than before.

*[Iaido • Reverse Beheading Draw]
B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: *Iaido • Beheading Draw, 25 Speed
By building tension in two places in their body, the user unleashes a spin and then draws their katana in a swift motion without pause until returning to face their original direction, sword sheathing in the process. The attack has incredible destructive power, though lacks the visual blur in speed. The attack is still fast enough, however, to disorient opponents greatly.

        A-Rank: 2
*[Iaido • Backlash Draw]
A-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 30 speed, 30 strength, *[Iaido • Reverse Beheading Draw[/i]
Taking the concept of the Reverse Beheading Draw a step further, the user builds a large amount of torque within their arm and hip before yanking the sword from their sheath with such force that it creates a destructive wave of force that follows behind the path of the blade. The user slashes in a 360 degree rotation with incredible, blurring speed, sheathing the blade as soon as the rotation is complete. After the sword has been sheathed, the wave of force follows the same path that the initial slash took, delivering a second slash with equal power to the first. This make the technique perfect for dealing with opponents on all sides.

*[Iaido • Execution Draw]
A-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Prerequisite: 30 speed, 30 Taijutsu
In a single moment, the user of this technique delivers a series of six blindingly fast slashes, all aimed at specific vital locations. First the user unsheaths their blade in a diagonal slash aimed to bisect their chest, then using the same momentum for the next five slashes, twists their wrist to bring the blade back across the stomach, throat, thighs and chest before finishing the assault with a slash aimed to bisect the pelvic cradle before immediately resheathing the blade in the same motion as the final slash. By twisting the wrist and maintaining momentum throughout the combination attack, each slash is made as if the blade had just been unsheathed, and the entire attack occurs in less than a second. If even one of these slashes land solidly it could easily prove to be fatal.
Toryu KenjutsuShow
~ T O R Y U ~
Toryu Kenjutsu is a sword style originating from the Land of Pebbles that focuses on not just performing kenjutsu but also weaving close quarters style taijutsu into the bladework. Toryu's specialty is not only learning to capably slash a sword with one hand but also learning to use the hands, joints, legs and even the head to make frighteningly dangerous close quarters fighters. An inelegant style, it is commonly associated with the more 'rough' samurai but in truth it's reliance on two opposing impulses and control of the body makes it one of the more difficult Kenjutsu styles to learn. While usable with most blades, experienced fighters often prefer wakizashi, ninjato and even tanto daggers instead of katana for increased mobility.
Requires: [Close Quarters Combat] and [Sword] Concentrations

  D-Rank: 5
*[Toryu • Close Quarters]
D- Ranked Taijutsu Stance
Prerequisite: 5 Taijutsu
The signature stance of the style, Close Quarters teaches users of this style how to rapidly change the angle, position and even grip of their weapon without moving their hand from it's signature position at the user's waist for maximum versatility. Users of this style often assume a one foot forward, one back, slightly swayed stance to free up movement as well at the expense of leaving their center open.

*[Toryu • Lunging Feint]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Speed
A basic technique of the style wherein the user moves in for a basic lunge-thrust with their weapon, only to turn in mid thrust and attempt to sweep their leg under the opponent's own. This tends to be useful as a basic feint and can usually knock down those with less strength than the user who get caught by it.

*[Toryu • Guard Break]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Strength
After rushing in on a foe and initiating an attack the user waits for the opponent to guard, either with arm or weapon, before quickly lashing out with their hand or pommel of their blade and attempting to smash the guarding hand or arm aside with a wrist smash. The pain as well as damage can interrupt the guard of opponents, leaving them wide open for the initial attack to hit.

*[Toryu • Limb Lock]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: *[Toryu • Close Quarters] , 5 Taijutsu
A dangerous close quarters 'option closer', the Toryu user will sweep in close and try to slam their foot down on an opponent's as well as quickly sweep their arm around the opponent's to lock their elbow with the user's own. This technique is usually utilized for setting up blows or blocking off the weapons of dual-wielding foes and it forces the opponent to break out of the move before counter-attacking.

*[Toryu • Counter Kick]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Taijutsu, 5 Strength
The user of this technique will attempt to block the blow of his opponent with his blade, relying heavily on the durability of their weapon and their own strength to resist the strength of the opponent's attack. Should they be successful, the user will follow up with a swift kick to the target's chest or stomach to push them away and stun them, then follow up with a quick stab to the chest or stomach.

    C-Rank: 5
*[Toryu • Leg Hook Grapple]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Taijutsu, 10 Speed
A potent close quarters move that is performed by rushing at a foe and attempting to jump onto the opponent's shoulders. Then, assuming they land, the user shifts their weight in an attempt to unbalance the victim. If performed correctly on an opponent with 10 or less strength who cannot compensate for the weight and momentum it causes them to tip back or go off balance, setting up for a secondary slash or stab at their now exposed head or torso.

*[Toryu • Subversion Grappling]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Taijutsu
One of the more utilized techniques in the arsenal of the style, it involves the shifting of offense and defense, specifically utilizing the sword as a defensive weapon and the hand as the main weapon; by blocking far off the center of the clash (to the side, above, below), the user opens up an opposing swordsman or weapon specialist to punches, quick closes and even more complicated maneuvers simply by forcing their sword back for a moment. The downside of course is it lessens the overall effectiveness of the sword.

*[Toryu • Sweep Cutter]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Taijutsu
During close quarters or after engaging a foe via a rush, the user quickly forces themselves back as they divert body weight downwards typically causing a quick and controllable slide under the opponent's field of control, usually between the legs or to the side. During this slide the user attempts slashes, stabs or even hooks or drags the opponent down with them to open up for more techniques or just deal considerable damage.

*[Toryu • Disregard of Fear]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 15 Instinct
Many of the Toryu techniques would put the user in incredibly daring positions where a single mistake could instantly spell disaster for the swordsman. As a result, Toryu practitioners must train themselves constantly to avoid letting their fears distract them from their task. A user with this technique has learned to shut out fear in the heat of combat, allowing them to perform their death defying attacks without the risk of failure due to fear responses.

*[Toryu • Staggering Knee Strike]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Taijutsu, 15 Strength
The user quickly dashes into an opponent's range while delivering a quick knee strike to the target's solar plexus in an attempt to stagger the opponent. The aim is to get the target to lean forward while holding their gut, opening up the many vulnerable areas of the back, neck and skull to various possible finishing moves.

      B-Rank: 3
*[Toryu • Grappling Counter]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Strength
Utilized defensively at a rushing opponent or offensively during other movements, the core of this technique is to open up the opponent by first driving the arm towards them under or over their guard and then, at the moment of impact, turning the body in such a way that so as to face them sideways and stabbing your weapon into their back during this momentary opening. The one-two combo of this technique is that the arm bar sends them hurtling back directly into the now oncoming blade, causing far more damage than either hit alone.

*[Toryu • Reversal Grappling]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Speed
A tricky technique which requires an opponent to step close to the user voluntarily either for an attack or for a grapple/counter of their own. By using the forward momentum of the opponent and dropping down to one knee, the user is able to grab the wrist of the opponent and use their grip to force the foe over their head, slamming them headfirst into the ground and leaving them open for a further attack.

*[Toryu • Dirty Assault]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Instinct, 25 Speed
Using their surroundings to their advantage with a bit of quick thinking, the user will charge at their opponent from a distance. Then, Just before getting within range to attack the opponent, the user will dig the toe of their shoe or foot into the dirt and kick up a large cloud of dirt to obscure the opponent’s vision and as a result, the user’s position. If no dirt is available, such as being inside, the user should instead use a bit of dirt on their person, though this is less effective as the cloud would be much smaller and is instead meant to simply blind the opponent. The user will then make a quick dash to either side of the opponent and reach for their arm, giving them a quick jerk to set them off balance and bring them closer before delivering a quick slash to the opponent’s jugular.

Warrior's Fortitude Style
The tenets of Bushikizen, the Warrior’s Fortitude style, emphasise a soldier’s determination, presence, and adaptability on the field of battle. The formidable style ingrains essential combat principles and beliefs in the soldier’s mind in order to fashion them into a weapon with reliable and deadly instincts, allowing them to rely on intuition to react swiftly and decisively without forethought in tense situations. The extreme mental presence projected from a skilled practitioner is enough to alter the flow of battle by dominating the minds of their foes and protecting the user from harm, while the blend of intuition with combat experience can convert regular soldiers into indomitable juggernauts in the field. True Bushikizen users are renowned for being unpredictable, diverse, and dominating combatants, able to adapt to and overcome the greatest of challenges by incorporating extreme mental discipline with an array of styles and techniques into one seamless display of battlefield mastery.
Requires: [Rigid Structure], [Close Quarters Combat] and [Perception] Concentrations.

E-Rank: 1
Enduring Path
E-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
A lifetime of tireless training and exercise has allowed the user to focus their mind and body in such a way as to conceal the effects of fatigue upon their body. While this technique does not affect their amount of stamina in any way, persons without advanced visual or perceptive techniques looking upon the user will be unable to gauge the user's level of fatigue or exertion.

  D-Rank: 4
True Foundation
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The user has developed a keen sense of balance and sure-footedness that allows them to remain stable through events that would ordinarily cause someone to stumble or fall, including while traversing difficult, broken, uneven, thin, or moving terrain.

Aimpoint
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
With a keen sense of perception, the user is experienced at reading the apparent trajectories and targets of an airbourne weapon, object, or straight-line technique. This allows them to interpret the approximate speed of an incoming projectile and understand the necessary movements to reduce damage taken, or avoid impact entirely.

Pivot Step
D-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
The user has learnt how to pivot mid-stride in order to deftly change directions while moving with minimal loss of speed, and helps keep the user mobile and unpredictable on the battlefield. In combination with [Perception] techniques, this additionally increases the user's ability to avoid incoming strikes and projectiles while on the move.

Rising Spin
D-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
Whenever the user is on the ground, they can roll on to their back and rapidly rotate their legs to build momentum before launching themselves back to their feet. The high-speed spin of the legs additionally serves to block and divert nearby weapons or persons, delivering a swift and powerful kick to anything within range and clearing the user's immediate vicinity of anything with an equal or lower strength to the user as they rise.

    C-Rank: 7
Unwavering Spirit
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After long years of combat experience, the user has learnt to keep a firm hold on their emotions without the need for conscious effort. This technique allows the user to resist the effects of fear, intimidation, and non-critical pain in order to focus on their situation with clear, rational thought.

Weapon Mastery
C-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Having trained to the point of mastery with their weapon, the user is capable of switching their grip, stance, or dominant hand at any point during combat, including mid-manouevre. This aids them in remaining unpredictable and increases the difficulty that an opponent can successfully block or counter.

Blade Bash
C-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
The user deftly alters the angle of a held weapon when striking to connect with the flat side of a blade rather than its cutting edge. This allows the user to deliver powerful, but blunt, attacks with little to no predictability. The blunt force of these impacts can knock away opponents up to a number of metres equal to the difference in the user and opponents' strength. Opponents with a strength equal to or greater than the user can resist the knockback effect.

Takedown
C-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
The user builds strength into their lower legs momentarily before charging at an opponent, reaching their full momentum almost immediately which enables utility even while in close quarters. Before contact, the user drops one shoulder to increase the force behind the strike, then rapidly rotates in an attempt to divert or power through an opponent's guard. The sheer force behind the impact causes all targets with a strength equal to or lower than the user's to be knocked down; those with a strength of 4 or more below the user will additionally be sent flying through the air, and are unlikely to keep their feet upon landing without experience in [Acrobatics]. Alternatively, the user can attempt to grapple the target upon contact, using their momentum to hoist the opponent into a deft throw or simply disable them by maintaining a hold around their limbs as they both topple to the ground.

Precision
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
With knowledge of an opening or weak spot on an opponent, such as the exposed area of a previous injury or insufficient guard, the user performs a fast, aggressive strike to that area with the intent to create lasting and painful injury. This increases the user's chance of causing fractures and internal bleeding, or being able to strike through a weak guard.

Strategic Analysis
C-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
Upon entering a new environment, the user immediately begins analysing their surroundings for future recollection. The layout, possible hiding places, escape routes, scenery and usable objects are all taken into account without thought, in addition to building a memorised map of the area. While rudimentary, the speed and accuracy of this analysis allows the user to recall specific details at any time later with surprising accuracy, as well as notice subtle changes that may develop in the environment over time.

Combat Anticipation
C-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
By focusing on their target and applying their extensive combat experience, the user is capable of seeing through intricate distractions and complex feint manouevres. Additionally, this helps the user keep track of a target despite partial sensory deprivation, including those moving at any speed up to or equal to the user's instinct.

      B-Rank: 4
Rigid Core
B-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
Applying the core principles of [Rigid Structure], the user is experienced in reacting to incoming strikes by making numerous minor adjustments to their body position and angle in order to greatly reduce the damage sustained by an incoming strike. This is possible so long as the user's (Taijutsu+Stamina)/2 is equal or greater than the opponent's (Speed+Strength)/2.

Skilled Deflection
B-Rank Taijutsu Manouevre
With all the speed and grace of a trained blademaster, the user can utilise their weapon at speed to intercept incoming projectiles, allowing them to easily block or divert them to targets of their choice so long as their strength is equal or greater than the strength of the incoming weapon. Should the user have a taijutsu stat 5 or more points higher than their opponent, and a greater strength stat, this can additionally be used to divert weapon attacks in close-quarters melee combat, deflecting an incoming strike back against its initiator.

Effective Range
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
With extensive experience fighting in close-quarters, the user is no longer obstructed or hindered by a lack of physical space around them as they fight. This allows them to remain able to fight at full strength and speed to deliver proficient and deadly strikes despite a restricted range of movement, such as by nearby walls or terrain, or caused by partial bindings such as ropes or techniques that do not full prevent all movement.

Whirlwind Step
B-Rank Taijutsu Stance
By bracing energy in their legs and then launching into movement at their maximum speed, in addition to moving in an unpredictable and difficult to follow manner, the user can appear as little more than a blurred streak to anyone with an instinct 10 or more points less than the user's natural speed. The rapid method of movement imparts a +8 speed boost to the user, but its light-footed nature makes them more vulnerable to taking hits, at -8 stamina until the stance ends. Use of this stance makes it considerably more difficult for opponents to follow the user's movements and read their attacks successfully if the target lacks the instinct to see through it.

        A-Rank: 1
Indomitable Spirit
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisites: Unwavering Spirit

After long years of combat experience, the user has learnt to keep a firm hold on their emotions without the need for conscious effort. This technique allows the user to resist the effects of extreme fear, intimidation, anger, and life-threatening pain in order to focus on their situation with a cold, but rational and clear-headed attitude. At this level, the user is capable of filtering out all of their own distracting emotions and can shut down receptiveness to new stimuli, not including the effects of mind-altering Genjutsu.

Strong Fist Style

This style focuses on being overall more physically powerful than your opponent. Users attempt to overwhelm defenses with great speed and strength while chipping away at their opponent’s stamina and keeping their own at the highest possible. Most attacks are simple in execution but extremely powerful in effect, causing battles of attrition to be in their favor.
Requires: [Close Quarters Combat] Concentration; Obtaining A/S archives techniques requires [Taijutsu Specialization]

  D-Rank: 5
*[Strong Fist Style • Balance]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
A neutral stance taken by even entry level practitioners. This stance involves turning your body to be perpendicular to your opponent. One foot is rested directly in front of the other with just the toes in contact with the ground. A hand is held back while the other is forward, pointing up. This stance provides ease of dodging incoming blows by using the least amount of motion possible while still being ready to launch into an attack.

*[Strong Fist Style • Leaf Gale]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A simple sweeping kick aimed low to knock the opponent off balance.

*[Strong Fist Style • Dynamic Entry]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
In this technique, the user builds momentum and speed in order to bridge the gap between themselves and a distanced target. After covering an appropriate distance, the user then lets loose a form of distraction, like a thrown object, in order to misdirect the target's attention. The user then leaps with their momentum, delivering a strong kick to bridge the rest of the distance.

*[Strong Fist Style • Dynamic Action]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Because distances tend to become the problem in most taijutsu, the practitioner will advance with every strike. This creates a tempo of advancement that is designed to wear down their opponent through ever pressing strikes, giving little chance for escape or recovery.

*[Strong Fist Style • One Inch Punch]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
When fighting in close quarters it becomes difficult to generate energy for full powered strikes. Practitioners have learned how to explode force from every muscle with minimal energy wasted and space needed. Every strike done by the practitioner has the potential to be at full strength, so long as they have at least one inch of movement.

    C-Rank: 5
*[Strong Fist Style • Great Leaf Flash]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: *[Strong Fist Style • Balance]

The user will tense the muscles in their lower body to a great degree. Doing so causes them to briefly become immobile but creates an enormous amount of pent up energy. By bringing their back leg forward in a straight kick they release all of this energy in a single explosive burst. This can take out a lot of defenses and unless they’re supported by outside forces will knock a kicked foe back a number of yards equal to the difference in their strength and the practitioner's.

*[Strong Fist Style • Great Leaf Whirlwind]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A combination attack started by the user unleashing a powerful kick to either side of their opponent. They will then place themselves behind the target and unleash a quick flurry of punches before kicking another side and repeating the process. This process can keep going ad infinitum or until the practitioner disengages.

*[Strong Fist Style • Thunder Leaf Fist]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
An attack that is slow to wind up but powerful in execution. The adept tenses every muscle in their shoulders and arms while twisting their core for a powerful strike. For the 1/4 post they spend winding up they're treated as having a -6 speed. However, when the strike is released it comes nearly instantly and at a +6 strength.

*[Strong Fist Style • Rising Leaf Wind]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: (Instinct+Taijutsu)/2 greater than opponent's taijutsu

A disrupting kick that can be launched from nearly any position. This kick is delivered quickly and at 3/4 strength but is aimed at any possible opening and extremely difficult to defend against, quickening the tempo the practitioner is keeping.

*[Strong Fist Style • Skyward Strike]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
An often difficult attack to accomplish but good for setting up a string of further attacks. The user will sweep low, attempting to kick their target's feet from beneath them. Before they fall, a second kick will attempt to launch them airborne a number of meters equal to the difference in the practitioner's strength from their target.

      B-Rank: 2
*[Strong Fist Style • Leaf's Flashing Might]
B-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Requiring a full post of charge time the user tenses their entire body in preparation, becoming immobile. During this time they will look for their direct path and position themselves with their elbow pointed forward. At the end of the post they will release all of this pent up energy with extreme force, leaping nearly instantaneously a number of yards equal to their strength. If their strength is high enough this can punch through obstacles on their path and create extreme damage to opponents who are hit by it. Often used as an opening attack and cannot be done more than twice per thread.

*[Strong Fist Style • Herculean Leaf Whirlwind]
B-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A progression from previous variants, this attack focuses on multi-opponent fights but utilizes the same principles. By employing superior speed the user will dance between targets to create openings and strike as before. However, rather than unloading on a single target they will move to a new opponent and do the same to them in the time it takes the first to recover. They can keep this process up as long as they are allowed.

Sight-Initiated Deception

  D-Rank: 4
[Genjutsu • Falsify]
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
The user performs a short set of hand seals and channels chakra into a nearby object. Those who see the seals will be caught in the illusion technique. This rudimentary technique simply changes the appearance of a nearby object to those caught within, such as altering the contents of a letter or the position of an item. Objects affected can be no larger than half a metre in size, and the technique fades after three posts.

[Genjutsu • Basic Doppelganger]
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
The user performs a short set of hand seals, holding the last one and attempting to afflict any who see them with the genjutsu. To those caught, the user appears positioned wherever they were last seen, holding the final hand seal and focusing on the target(s), while the real user is removed from their sight. The technique lasts for one post, and during that post the user is free to move and act unseen by those affected; however any hostile or physical action against a target of the technique will break the illusion and reveal the user.

[Genjutsu • Flash Blade]
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
The user performs a short set of hand seals and channels chakra into a held weapon. Anyone who focuses on the weapon directly will witness it erupting into a blaze of incredibly bright light, making it very difficult to look at directly for the next four posts. Focusing on the weapon for any length of time in spite of the light will result in shifting spots of colour and disorientating afterimages, increasing in severity to blurred vision lasting only until they look away, whereupon their vision will slowly return to normal.

[Genjutsu • Double Vision]
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
The user performs a short set of hand seals and then reaches for and throws a weapon or object. Anyone who sees the throw directly will witness the object divide into three, with two illusionary copies appearing to conceal the presence of the real item. Each illusion matches the speed of the thrown item with only minor deviations to its trajectory, for example to appear to be aimed at different parts of the target. The illusions have no substance and will pass through any physical barrier without effect, and will disappear harmlessly upon making contact with the target.

    C-Rank: 3
[Genjutsu • Supernal Blade]
C-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
The user performs a brief sequence of one-handed seals while channeling chakra into a weapon held in the other hand. Any who focus directly upon the weapon will become caught in the genjutsu. To those afflicted, for the next four posts any weapon motion performed by the user will be witnessed with a half-second delay preceding it, making the true position of the user's weapon incredibly difficult to predict at any one moment. Should the user attempt a killing strike while using this technique, the genjutsu will break as that motion begins.

*[Genjutsu • Demonic Illusion • Hell Viewing]
C-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
This is a genjutsu technique that causes its target to see a horrifying vision. The ninja will perform some hand seals and make eye contact with the target. Once cast, the world will appear normal to the target until they see the illusion. The illusion is at the discretion of the user. However, they can only make a stationary image, or a visual loop, not a controllable visual illusion. Examples would be a decapitated head on a table, or one of their friends running in circles on fire. This illusions may only last up to 4 posts, or until the user ends the jutsu themselves. As a note, this only effects sight.

[Genjutsu • Dreadlord]
C-Rank Status Genjutsu
The user performs a short set of handseals then grins in a foreboding manner, causing any who witness the vengeful smile to be caught in this illusion. For the next three posts, the afflicted person will experience a rising fear of the user, manifesting as a feeling of doubt about their own ability. If the user acts aggressively during this period or tries to approach the target, the afflicted party is more likely to react in a hasty, frantic manner.
