Physical Features:
  • Face/head: A face almost without blemishes, a single scar thin scar that runs from his nose to his ear from a stray shuriken. Otherwise, he has a jawline that cannot either be called strong nor weak, he has a rather smallish nose. He tends to have a very expressive face, even if his voice doesn’t match. His hair is rarely messy, usually being combed through and while he might have a lazy disposition, it’s obvious that with the neat heal of the scar on his face, the lack of any dry patches and even making sure his lips are hydrated, that he pays a lot of attention to his appearance.
  • Body: A paler shade of white, while he has built a considerable amount of muscle over the years, his shape is still rather lithe, built with more agility than he is for power. Scars litter his body, a notable one being in the centre of his chest. A solid stance even when walking, his legs and arms are on the longer side, causing him to be described as all limbs in the past, but since thickening out, it’s not as apparent.
  • Notable Features: HIs personal light is a rather dull grey, his bright blonde hair and golden eyes.
Clothing/Accessories: While having originally opted for rather bright colours, Raizou nowadays prefers muted colours, browns and blacks that help blend him in with his surroundings. Now usually paired with a hood, to keep his head hidden.

Personality: An idiot in recovery, shattered pride, and a dislike of the kind of person he has grown to become. Raizou needed a reality check and that was what he had gotten. While he’s got drive and a goal now, some habits are hard to break. He’s struggling against himself and trying to move forward.
  • General: Serious yet relaxed, a man who carries a natural lazy demeanour even after giving himself over to hardwork. Raizou’s voice carries a certain level of energy, and time has only enhanced that. After overcoming the war, and surviving, he’s learned to appreciate the little things in life once more. Not one to get hung up on things now, he’s the kind of guy who says it from the chest, even if it might be offensive. He’s rather nonchalant about things, and he’s grown into the habit of bringing up things and making jokes that are only marginally related to the current situation.

    Still, when it comes to his role as a shinobi, he seems to take it seriously even if his words don’t reflect that anymore. Cracking a joke in the darkest pit was one of the ways to get through the war, and he still considers it to be important. In fact, a number of his present traits could be considered to be coping mechanisms he had developed, but all in all, he’s still pretty much the same lad underneath it all.

  • Fears: Returning to his old ways.
  • Combat Mentality: A ranged fighter, close range is something he will avoid whenever possible. Taking advantage of his present style and skills, Raizou’s goal has and always will be, to try to take out an opponent as fast as possible, and if that isn’t possible, disorient them. A spiderweb of traps, distant attacks, and backup plans is his usual approach to this type of problem.

Ninjutsu: Advanced Channeling:
This user has superb chakra control, and has learned to perform jutsu by channeling, without the use of hand seals. The user can channel any Ninjutsu that is designed to be channeled, and there are no specified parameters in which a jutsu must fall to be channeled by this method.
Hiton:
Hiton, also known as Light Release, is an elemental fusion that combines Raiton and Katon to create and manipulate hard light to accomplish various feats. Hiton starts as relatively weak jutsu that create light and distractions, but at high levels creates super heated lasers and grids of compressed light. Hiton jutsu are known for their blinding quality that exists unless otherwise stated. This quality, combined with the burning power of raw light creates a powerful offensive style that has a game-changing supplemental ability. The brightness of Hiton jutsu, and the burning power they have is based on the strength of the technique.

Light Metal Release - Kokouton 光鋼遁
A person with a gray dull personal light, it had always been strange how light could be dull, which turned out to be a variation on the Awai Kekkei Genkai. Through hard work, he has cultivated this property of his Hiton chakra, Light Metal Release. Called such in that it has lost the Hiton passive. The jutsu that are under this create things that appear similar to a steel-like metal. Even if the Hiton Passive has been lost, he has unlocked the imbuing passive, where the jutsu is imbued and the light metal 'shell' is cast in a continuous form which functionally causes the time to cast a jutsu to be 2x that of the normal jutsu. In practice, when using a fireball, and making a light metal dagger, the dagger is made first and the fireball immediately after this taking 2x the time. The things created with Grey Light Metal hold strength equal to the amount of Control used.

Imbuing is the effect of Grey Light metal, which absorb jutsu from the same source. When a Light Metal jutsu is initially formed, it is can store additional jutsu within itself, which can be used alongside it, or released. Such as holding an exploding fuin within itself to explode, or to hold a barrier which it covers itself with. This means that the total time to cast Grey Metal light is equal to that of its shell, and the jutsu it contains, with a chakra cost of 2x of the held Jutsu.

Once the jutsu that the shell is formed with is used, it disappears into motes of grey light. It can be formed on its own, however its passive remains active until it absorbs jutsu with strength equal to its own. A twenty strength shell can hold two ten strength fireballs, or a twenty strength explosive fuin, though two different jutsu cannot be absorbed by the same shell.

This user is able to utilize Storage Fuuinjutsu and Force Fuuinjutsu, making it possible for them to utilize any jutsu with the Storage or Force Classification. Storage Fuuinjutsu can be used to store supplies, weapons, armor, or anything in between. Force Fuuinjutsu are used to release, counteract, and capture energy.

Sensors are shinobi who are able to activate a sixth sense which can locate and read chakra sources. Sensory is advantageous as it allows shinobi to perceive without using any of their conventional senses, which can easily be deceived. Sensors are able to collect a lot of information through the interpretation of this sixth sense.

This user is able to utilize Charge & Augment Fuuinjutsu, making it possible for them to utilize any jutsu with the Charge & Augment Classification. Charge Fuuinjutsu are used to create jutsu-like effects using seals. Augment Fuuinjutsu are used to enhance or limit the power of whatever they are placed on.

A character with this concentration is able to utilize Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Katon affinity. Katon has a passive ignition effect.

Katon's effect is ignition, which means that all katon jutsu, regardless of effect, start and spread fire from their source. Once a jutsu has been performed, the fire from the jutsu spreads at 1/3rd the speed of the technique, rounded down. That means a C-rank katon jutsu that moves at 13 speed would create subsequent fires that spread at 4 speed. These secondary fires require flammable material to continuously spread, otherwise they will burn out on their own. Additionally, Katon jutsu have a Burning effect, and burn anyone they come in contact with with [Control] strength.
Raiton:
Raiton
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Raiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Raiton affinity. Raiton has a shocking effect.
Passive (Shocking)Show
Raiton has the effect of shocking, which means causes it's effect to be diffuse upon impact. In organic material, this causes nervous stimulation which results in numbness, tingling, loss of sensation, and sometimes paralysis based on the [Strength] of the technique. In inorganic material, this means that the strength of the jutsu diffuses across an area 2x the size of the attack. In a jutsu that creates a lightning ball 2m in diameter, if it struck a wall the size of the attack would cover a 4m area.

A passive technique, the user has learned to weaken the intensity of light from their jutsu that comes towards them. This means that users are effected less by the blinding and by the burning quality of their techniques. Having this technique gives a permanent -1 to stamina.

~Light Release • Sun Ball Technique
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Performing hand seals and then holding out their hand, the user produces a softball sized ball of light that is the same color as their personal light in the palm of their hand. This ball gives off a constant glow like that of four candles; however, this technique is actually solid and produces heat. It can be thrown or used in melee combat. When it hits something, it acts like a gas in a sense and spreads out over the impacted area, causing light impact and heat. Otherwise it lasts 3 posts.

~Light Release • Becoming Flashy Technique
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After grabbing a weapon or small object and flowing Hiton chakra into it, the user causes the object to glow with their personal chakra color and essentially turns the weapon or object into a constantly glowing flash tag. This infusion lasts for 2 posts. The 'infusion' does not make the object more durable in any way. During those 2 posts, the user can also release the Hiton chakra stored inside once and cause it to let out a large burst of light over a 5ft radius.

~Light Release • Sun Shield Technique

Performing a small series of hand seals, the user creates solid hiton around one or both hands and makes, essentially, a small square of solid light around the hand. The square of light is only a few inches wider and longer than the user's hand is, up to a max of one foot tall and eight inches wide. The wall forms at 3 speed and has 7 strength. The wall lasts for 4 posts, or until destroyed.

After performing the needed hand seals, the user concentrates hiton chakra into the form of a clone. This clone looks identical to the user in every way. The clone can go up to 30m away from the user. These clones are incapable of performing ninjutsu or genjutsu. Once destroyed by a weak attack, the clone dispels into shimmering, faint light.

Performing the hand seals for the technique, the user then puts both hands out forward and from both palms a basketball sized beam of light colored the same as the user's personal light shoots forward. The ball moves in a straight line to a maximum distance of 30 feet at a speed of 10. The light is semi-solid, hitting hard with 10 strength but as it hits it breaks up like gas against the object when it hits, spreading out over the person.

Forming a hand seal, Raizou uses a unique form of Kai that releases the Jutsu absorbed within the hard light metal. It is able to activate a Hard-Light metal’s use of it within [control] number of meters.

After forming the correct hand seals, Raizou forms a katana of hard light metal, his Kokouton sword is formed with a straight edge, around 80 Centimeters in length, a single-bladed weapon with durability equal to the control put into it.

After performing the correct hand seals, Raizou forms Kokouton into the shape of a vambrace/gauntlet pair that protect his arms. They’re made so that they are plated at the fingers to allow some movement. The arm armour provides a strong measure of protection, breaking only when hit by an attack stronger than [control] strength. Using Kokouton Kai releases any held jutsu from the fist or palm outwards.

After performing the correct hand seals, Raizou forms his Kokouton into the shape of a shortbow, with both ends ending in spiraling tips. The bowstring itself is formed of tightly, yet thinly woven Kokouton, providing [control] strength to arrows shot from the bow.

After forming the correct hand seals, Raizou forms a minor weapons, such as Senbon, Kunai, Shuriken, or even an Arrow out of his Kokouton. It has [control] strength durability, and is always the same colors as his personal light, that of a dull almost metallic gray.

After forming the correct hand seals, Raizou forms a [control] meter long chain using Kokouton, with spiked ends. He is able to manipulate the chain when keeping conscious control on it, the chain moves with [Control] Speed and Strength

After forming the correct hand seals, Raizou forms a 2meter long spike, which is just as thick at it's thickest, coming to a very sharp point. It floats in the air, static, for up to five rounds, until the moment he chooses to fire it. When finally fired, it holds [Control] Strength and Speed.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will focus chakra into their mouths and into up to five senbon within 3 feet of their position. The senbon will be summoned from their persons or nearby into the user's mouth, where they will be spit out aided by chakra at a speed of 6 and strength of 4. The senbon can be shot up to 7 meters away.

After channeling chakra into one of their fists, the user will then attempt to strike their target and if successful, they will release additional concussive force in the form of an outward explosion at D-Rank force from their fist. If the user does not strike a target within 3 posts the jutsu dissipates.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will coat one of their hairs in chakra. Once this has been done, they will place it on their target. The user can track the exact location of the strand of hair for up to 7 meters. For up to twenty meters out, the user can track a rough location. From then out to 100 meters, the user just gets a general idea of where the opponent is. The chakra in the hair will dissipate at the end of 6 posts.

After performing the correct hand seals the user causes a thin 3x3 meter flat barrier to form directly in front of them at a speed of 5. This barrier can take a hit of up to 5 strength before shattering, otherwise it lasts for 3 posts.

D-Rank Storage Fuuinjutsu
After drawing a seal formula on a surface, appropriate in size to the weapon being sealed but no larger than 3x9 inches, the user forms the needed hand seals then may place as many of that singular object into the scroll as desired. When done, the user performs another set of hand seals and touches the seal closing it off as the seal condenses to the shape of the object stored. This seal is the only known sealing applications that allows depth storage and unfortunately this cannot be done at larger sizes. Tools can only be released at a maximum of 10 at a time, and are released with zero force.

After drawing an 2x5 inch seal formula on a surface the user forms the needed hand seals then touches the seal, arming it with their chakra. Upon being kai'd, the tag releases it's stored energy as a D-Rank Explosion of concussive force outward from itself.

D-Rank Storage & Force Fuuinjutsu
By having an empty scroll with a seal formula placed on it, the user is able to use the seal as a defensive measure. Holding a single, one-handed hand seal, the user attempts to block the incoming small sized weapon (kunai or smaller) with the scroll. Right before contact is actually made, the weapon will be sealed into the seal. This seal cannot be used multiple times, and if the incoming projectile has more than 5 strength, it will overpower it, making the technique useless.

D-Rank Storage Fuuinjutsu
Developed for clandestine operations originally, instead of using ink and paper, the user draws a seal onto their body the size of the item they are sealing into their body. Upon doing a set of hand seals, the user then slides the item into the tattoo and performs a second seal, causing the seal to go dormant. When kai'd the seal releases the stored item.

*D-Rank Seal Removal

Prerequisite: 5 D-Rank Fuuinjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user traces the outline of a D-Rank fuuinjutsu. After doing so, the user places their hand over the seal, removing the seal. This does not protect against any traps that may occur as a result of removing a seal.

*Fuuinjutsu • Air Seal
D-Rank Charge Fuuinjutsu
A truly unique move in that it can be used alongside other Fuuinjutsu, by channelling into their finger as they draw in the air directly in front of them, the user releases raw chakra the lingers for a small amount of time, allowing it to be used as a seal formula. This technique consumes chakra equal to the cost of the technique.

After placing four exploding tags in a 10 meter radius, the user draws a line connecting each of the tags. When kai'd, all the tags are set off simultaneously.

Used in conjunction with storage seals, the user forms the needed hand seals then touches the storage seal causing it to release up to three of the objects stored in it simultaneously as if they were thrown at a strength of 10. The three objects will be released in a small spread, only a few inches apart from each other.

After drawing 4 approximately 2x5 inch surfaces, the user forms a set of hand seals arming the tags. When finished, they will place the tags into a square formation up to 15x15 meters in size. After setting the seals in their desired locations, the user may kai any one of the seals at anytime to activate the jutsu, causing a barrier the size of the formation to pop up around the area in-between at a speed of 8. The barrier has a strength of 12.

After drawing an approximately 1x2 inch seal formula on a targets tongue, the user will chant off a list of words then after forming the needed hand seals touches the seal to activate it. As long as the seal remains on the targets tongue, their ability to speak those words is removed.

C-Rank Augment Fuuinjutsu
By doing the needed hand seals, the ninja inscribes the fuuinjutsu onto a surface (non-organic). This seal releases chakra into the structure, strengthening it to a durability of 10. If the object is stronger than 10, there is no effect. This effect persists as long as the seal does, or the item is intact.

This sensor jutsu is used by shinobi to feel chakra sources within a radius of 25 meters. While this jutsu is fairly helpful in sensing chakra, it is unable to actually pinpoint specific chakras outside of 10 feet. This only gives the Shinobi an idea of how many entities with chakra are present in their general area.

The sensor will activate their sensory jutsu, and then do an additional set of hand seals. By doing so, the user will be able to compare the “strength” of each source of chakra they are able to sense to each other. The “strength” of the individual is determined by the average of each person’s Stamina, Control and Strength stats. The user can determine who has more chakra strength than others, allowing them to pick out possible risks. This technique is not very reliable as a determining factor, however.

The sensor will activate their sensory jutsu, and focus on one source of chakra they can sense. By doing an additional hand seal, and holding said hand seal, the user will be able to continue to sense that source of chakra, even if they are moving around, so long as they are holding the hand seal. If they, or the chakra source, moves out of range, the user will lose track of them.

After activating Target Lock, the user will do a second series of hand seals, releasing the single seal for target lock, and then recreate it once finishing the series of seals for the technique. Doing so, the user will know their targets speed with a deviation of 3 points. Meaning if their speed is 17, the user will know its within the range of 14 to 20.

Prerequisites: *[Sensory Style • Beyond Senses]
The sensor will activate their sensory jutsu, and then do a second set of hand seals. For the next 5 posts, any time anyone within the range of their sensory activates a jutsu, the user will see their chakra “flare” momentarily. While they won’t know anything about the jutsu, it will give them a better idea of the battlefield.

Taking multiple projectiles into hand and priming the muscle groups required for launching projectile weapons, the practitioner can quickly shoot projectiles in rapid succession and just as quickly reload. While in this Stance, the practitioner can maintain a near-constant stream of projectile attacks. However, due to the amount of coordination required for this Stance, their movement is limited, suffering a -3 Speed penalty while in this Stance.

After years of training, the practitioner has learned how to quickly and accurately access their ranged weapon stores at all times in combat. This cuts the effective "reload" time by half, up to a maximum speed equal to the practitioner's Speed score. This also applies to returning unused projectiles to their storage containers or switching between types of projectile weaponry.

D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to read an opponent's movements and adjust their aim accordingly to compensate without penalty. This Discipline allows the practitioner to accurately hit moving targets, though sudden changes in the opponent's movements will still affect accuracy.

After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to use projectiles at close range, even point-blank range, with the same Strength as attacks against more distant targets. This Discipline allows the practitioner to use Flawless Aim techniques against melee-range targets without excessive exposure to counterattack and without losing Speed, Strength, or accuracy.

Preparing multiple projectiles, the practitioner launches each of the projectiles at one or more targets. For each target beyond the first, the accuracy of each of the attacks is decreased, suffering a -1 Taijutsu penalty for each additional target.

The practitioner can launch projectiles in arcs up and over most obstacles, being able to accurately hit a target that is behind obstructions as if they were in the open. The practitioner must still be able to locate their target by some other means to ensure the projectile will hit its target.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner launches a projectile at a shallow angle, targeting the ground or a hard surface. The shallow angle of the shot causes the projectile to bounce off of the surface, moving at -1 Speed and striking with -1 Strength after the bounce. This technique can be used to launch an attack from an unexpected angle or to shoot around, over, or under obstacles.

The practitioner knows their own reliance on ammunition can be exploited by the enemy and prepare themselves to acclimate to less than favorable circumstances. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to effectively launch any item, so long as it possesses at least the mass of a standard kunai, as if it were meant to be a projectile weapon without sacrificing accuracy. Attacks using improvised weaponry suffer a decrease in Strength, all such attacks being treated as having -3 Strength.

The practitioner first launches a projectile at -1 Strength. Then, they launch a second projectile at full Strength, targeting the first projectile. The second projectile ricochets off of the first projectile, capable of changing direction within 360 degrees of the location of the first projectile upon impact. The practitioner first launches a projectile at -1 Strength. Then, they launch a second projectile at full Strength, targeting the first projectile. The second projectile ricochets off of the first projectile, capable of changing direction within 360 degrees of the location of the first projectile upon impact. The second projectile is treated as an attack with a -5 Strength penalty.

By launching two projectiles, one immediately after the other, the practitioner attempts to create a decoy for the second. The first projectile is often larger or of equal size, and the second projectile is slightly behind and below it, the second projectile hiding in the first projectile's shadow. This masks the second projectile and makes it more difficult for the opponent to completely avoid. Perceptive opponents who have an Instinct greater than the user’s Taijutsu may be able to see both projectiles clearly within a reasonable distance, though they'll still have to properly defend against it.

Preparing a projectile, the practitioner launches the weapon with a slight tailspin, causing the flight path of the weapon to warp as it travels. The practitioner uses this slight change in the projectile's trajectory to hit a variety of targets that could not be targeted by normal means. This can be used to hit a target that is hiding behind another person or object, particularly useful against opponents behind human shields.

Momentarily crouching, the practitioner launches one or more projectiles in a low arc, the weapon(s) flying close to the ground before arcing up in a single direction when approaching the target. D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The basic Stance of Zantou, the practitioner holds one blade forward, parallel to the ground, and holds the other high over the head, pointing toward the opponent. The low blade grants the practitioner the ability to quickly defend against an opponent's attack while the blade raised overhead allows the practitioner to either quickly attack or counterattack with a powerful downward swing or thrust. This pairing of defense and offense serves as one of the cores of Zantou's swordsmanship. Drawing in a deep breath, the practitioner also gathers up their energy and releases a kiai. This Stance allows the practitioner to ignore non-critical distractions and minor environmental factors, such as small amounts of excess heat, small amounts of excess cold, small amounts of fatigue, and even small amounts of pain, allowing them to focus entirely on their opponents' movements and the tasks at hand. While in this Stance, the practitioner is conferred with a +2 increase to Strength and +1 increase to Will Power but suffers a -2 penalty to Chakra Pool and -1 penalty to Control. The practitioner may end this Stance whenever they so wish.

After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilize both hands equally and as effectively without any penalty. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.

The physical training and mental focus encouraged by Zantou allows for the practitioner to adapt quickly and take advantage of opportunities to attack when they present themselves in combat. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to alter the direction of their blade mid-cut. This can be used to work around a block, or simply to act as a powerful feint and strike all in the same motion without stopping. This Discipline can make a Zantou practitioner’s movements difficult to predict in a fight.

Prerequisite(s): *[Zantou • Ambidexterity].
The practitioner of Zantou must be capable of both defending and attacking within the same movement. This Discipline represents the practitioner's training and capacity to block an attack with one sword while simultaneously attacking with the other while wielding two or more weapons, making it more difficult for opponents to adequately block or counter the practitioner's attacks.

Prerequisite(s): *[Zantou • Ambidexterity].
Complete control of the weapons one is wielding is a necessity to ensure a practitioner of Zantou is proficient in the style. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to switch either one of their swords (or both, if they wish) from standard grip to reverse grip reflexively, the movements to do so firmly trained into their muscle memory. This allows the Zantou practitioner to ensure that the cutting edges of their blades are always facing the opponent whenever they want them to be. This Discipline can make a Zantou practitioner’s movements difficult to predict in a fight.

Prerequisite(s): *[Zantou • Winter River Flows].
While slashing an opponent, the practitioner twists their wrist while simultaneously channeling the momentum of the first attack into another slash in a different direction, allowing the practitioner to attack another area of the opponent's body with the same sequence of movements.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): *[Zantou • Winter River Flows].
This technique can be performed as a standalone technique, often supplemented by feinting a slash, or can be linked to another attack. The practitioner twists their wrist and channels their momentum into a downward thrust, lodging their blade into the opponent and potentially pinning them to the ground or another surface. The opponent can force the practitioner away if their Strength stat is higher than the practitioner's Strength stat, but doing so hastily can cause additional damage as the blade continues to expand the wound even further. Conversely, the practitioner can opt to twist the blade in the wound and pull it out, causing further damage to the opponent and possibly severing important tendons or veins.

D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Zantou harnesses the inner strength of its warrior to cause the opponent to falter. Intentionally clashing with the opponent's weapon at a weak point, the practitioner immediately torques the muscles in their arm to violently push and twist the weapon in a single direction. An opponent affected by this technique must have a Strength higher than the practitioner's Strength to avoid losing their grip on their weapon or being disarmed entirely. The practitioner can immediately follow up on this opening with a slash with the other weapon if they so wish,

They also are able to ignore moderate heat, moderate cold, moderate fatigue, and even a moderate amount of pain. They can read the opponents' muscle contractions and body positioning more accurately in this stance, and they are able to read both the direction and the type of attack that is imminent. The opponent can still effectively mask their movements if they have a movement-concealing Stealth technique of equal or higher rank than this technique. While in this Stance, the practitioner is conferred with a +2 increase to Strength and Will Power but suffers a -2 penalty to Chakra Pool and Control. The practitioner may end this Stance whenever they so wish.

Much of a human's movements are inefficient and waste energy, especially in regards to combat. The practitioner has learned how to fully synchronize and harmonize the movements of their body in and out of combat. This Discipline represents the practitioner's knowledge and mastery of kinetic linking, the efficient movement and transferal of potential energy from one part of the body to the other, eliminating potentially wasted Endurance and chakra and allowing the practitioner to last longer than ordinary in a fight.

The practitioner carefully scrutinizes his opponent's defenses and attacks whatever openings present themselves. This Discipline represents the practitioner's capacity to quickly recognize the base effective range of an opponent's weapon and inherent weaknesses in their defenses, including if there are none. This technique does not provide supernatural insight into an opponent's techniques which could alter those parameters, but this technique can be used in conjunction with other information the practitioner has to build a complete mental profile on the opponent's capabilities.

Talented, smart, energetic and a natural leader. For Raizou’s parents, this was great news, the son they had was doing great at the Ninja Academy. He was making friends, he was exceeding and they showed him that they were proud of him. His teachers just as well gave him attention and praises. This was perhaps the first nail in the coffin for Raizou, his talent was enough so why did he have to work so hard?

It started small, cutting a corner here and there, doing his homework later than he was told. Cutting minutes from his after school training. But from that point on it grew just as his own arrogance did, by the time he was in his last-year of the Academy, Raizou hardly trained and would barely do more than the minimum he needed to pass, coasting on his talent. The exam came around, he scraped through and he said the words.

Those words. At that time he didn’t realize what they really meant. He was put on a genin squad, and he practiced as he was made to, took part in missions and made sure to put in as little effort as possible to get the job done. Frankly, his motivation seemed to have faded away with time, and it was not like others around him did not notice it. He had gotten into arguments with his parents numerous times, and even a few stern talkings to from his sensei. Because he felt as if no-one understood his point, or understood his talent anymore, he distanced himself.

From those not like “him”, he didn’t see it worth putting his time into it. But as time went on, even that aspect of him faded, he didn’t feel an overwhelming arrogance but simply the need to move things along so that he could get back into doing things. His Teenage years rolled through, and if he was not doing missions or training with his team, he would sit in his room and read magazines. Never more than he needed to do, that was his goal. Just enough and that was it.

He just needed to make it look like he was working hard, that he was trying. But when it came to it in the end, by the time his team were entered in the Chuunin exams, it showed. There was so far talent without work would get you, and he was the only one on his team to not graduate. That was that, Raizou had been left behind. Perhaps that was the final straw, as he had gone back to his ways of doing nothing.

Three years, it was how he had lived. Doing little, and missions, cutting the corners under the simplest and assisting better, more motivated ninja were the slightly more difficult. But that was it, he didn’t progress, he didn’t move forward and without his confidence little mattered. But there was a single place he should have placed more pride in himself in, the thing that had begun everything for him to begin with. Raizou had always been rather astute in the viewpoint of battle. It was a simple escort mission, he was with his old two teammates, but things went awry and before he knew it, with all of his brains he lacked any actual skill to do anything. The result was a failed mission and a dead friend.

There was simply nothing to be said, Raizou failed and with that came the realization that perhaps he could have done more. He might well have sat and wallowed in his self-pity until the point he faded into obscurity, a career without anything to it. But it wasn't to be, a chance meeting with his cousin and old friend, a talk, and a realization. The details of which he keeps close to his chest, but even so. Raizou knew then more than at any point before, just why one had to keep advancing; so that they would not be filled with regret later.

With The Words ever clear in his head, Raizou wanted to start anew, to rekindle the flame he held when he was much younger, to do his own part, and more so for him to live without any more regrets piling up. For all of this, he needed to advance once more and shake off the cobwebs that seemed to hold him down. Perhaps he’d have to put his notions of talents aside and realize that the only way forward was with hard work.

Changing Oneself wasn't easy, Raizou was always aware of that fact. Step by step he advanced though. Training, taking part in missions, and interacting with those around him, to say that it came easy was a bald-faced lie. He fell flat on his face more times than he could count, and eventually, he found himself standing up again after each fall.

It wasn't supposed to be easy, simple words to continue telling himself as he moved on with his life as a shinobi. The annoyed grumblings at the breakfast table came to an end as he applied himself, the looks of disappointment in the compound began to disappear, things he had never noticed beforehand. They all disappeared, and eventually, he was too busy to even begin to notice the looks of pride or the words of encouragement. It was a gradual change, but the things which were hard became simple, and the things which were once simple became hard, relaxing was something he was no longer wired to do.

Eventually, he joined a team, joined in missions, and even began to moonlight with the idea of joining a group, it all seemed rather simple. Then things changed rather rapidly as he got his life back together. The world around him changed, war was something that came without warning, even when tensions rose, most such as himself believed it would simply pass over. But it came, and when it did come, it was like the wind.

It upended lives without a single bit of hesitation. Rather than training, he was outputting what he had trained to the test. He was a Genin, but he was older, he had more time, so at first, he was busy delivering letters where it mattered on the battlefield, his sensory skills allowed him to stay alive, and after two years of doing such he had finally received his promotion, to being a chuunin.

That was difficult, that was where the war became real for the first time. Where he had to enter the battlefield, not as a messenger but as a combatant. Raizou joined squads for focused attacks, to taking on the battlefield more directly as he found himself surrounded by nothing more than simple despair on the battlefield, and trying to keep his wits together was hard, he had thanked his stars that he had turned things around, and improved before the war started, but at the same time, he regretted not taking the time to enjoy the roses.

But regret only got you killed, so he threw that away for another time, and marched on, until the last stages of the war he marched. Slowly, his style as a shinobi had come through, blocks connected, and it was perhaps the retaking of Konoha, the last battle he was involved in, where he found his groove for real, where his unique form of hard light had truly manifested itself.

But that’s a story for another time, with the war now over, and with peace once again holding strong throughout the land, a number of habits had carried over, Raizou would struggle to consider his previous self, himself. Far too many things had happened in that space of time, so now all he can do is, move on.
