Inuzuka, Gurren

General Information Age: 13
Gender: Male
Height: 5'2
Weight: 111 lbs
Physical Features: Gurren is a lithe young man with light skin. Long, black hair hangs from his head down to his back. He keeps it swept out of his face, but it's pretty messy due to both how thick it is and how much time he spends with the Ninken of his household. There are a few light scars across his body that he's gained over the years, but none of them are serious or immediately noticable.

What is immediately noticable, however, are the two red markings on each of Gurren's cheeks, painted symbols that he proudly displays as an Inuzuka. Aside from his facepaint, Gurren has a few other details that separates him from most of the population. His teeth are much sharper than usual, and his canines are particularly long. The iris' of his eyes are brown, but his pupils are enlongated black slits, further proof of his Inuzuka heritage.

Clothing/Accessories: Black and gray are pretty much the only colors Gurren wears. The clothes he wears on missions are pretty much the same as what he wears on a day to day basis: Black cargo pants, black open-toed sandals, and a light-gray sleeveless top. Other than this, he basically always has a large gunmetal-gray scarf wrapped around his neck, and will sometimes wear long fingerless gloves. His forehead protector also hangs around his neck, either covered by the scarf or exposed depending on how much subtly is neccesary.

When he has to carry equipment with him, his kunai are kept equally between his left and right leg pouches. If he has a larger weapon with him, it hangs across the base of his back.

Picture: N/A
Personality:
  • General: Gurren is pretty wild, but has great respect for his house, village, and country, in that order. He's not intentionally mean to others, but can sometimes come off as a bit rude. He prefers being surrounded by nature, and often feels more at home around Jackpot and the other Ninken than humans.
  • Hopes/Dreams: As a Shinobi, Gurren dreams to raise through the ranks and promotions. He doesn't care about renown, but he does want to be able to make his family proud and be a useful asset to his village.
  • Fears: Losing Jackpot is Gurren's worst fear, and he'll do whatever he can to protect him.
  • Combat Mentality: Savage is a word that describes Gurren's combat mentality well. He's not afraid to play dirty and get wild with his attacks, which are mostly Taijutsu based. Jackpot is always by his side in battle, and together the two of them try to overwhelm their opponents.

Katon:
Katon Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Katon affinity. Katon has a passive ignition effect.
Passive (Ignition)Show
Katon's effect is ignition, which means that all katon jutsu, regardless of effect, start and spread fire from their source. Once a jutsu has been performed, the fire from the jutsu spreads at 1/3rd the speed of the technique, rounded down. That means a C-rank katon jutsu that moves at 13 speed would create subsequent fires that spread at 4 speed. These secondary fires require flammable material to continuously spread, otherwise they will burn out on their own.

Additionally, the strength of burns on organic material from katon jutsu is determined by the strength stat of the individual jutsu.
  • 1-14 Strength Requirement: First Degree Burns
  • 15-24 Strength Requirement: Second Degree Burns
  • 25-34 Strength Requirement: Third Degree Burns
  • 35+ Strength Requirement: Fourth Degree Burns

Jutsu
NinjutsuShow
Academy JutsuShow
*[Basic Jutsu • Clone Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After completing a set of handseals, the user forms a slight chakra 'body', thus creating a single, massless clone. The clone created from this technique is very basic and will dissipate when hit with anything. These clones do not possess vital signs or a unique chakra signature, meaning they don't disrupt the environment, and anything on their person is superficial. The clone has 1 in each stat. They are limited to basic movements.

*[Basic Jutsu • Transformation Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After completing the needed handseals, the user of this technique will be able to alter their physical appearance to match that of another person. By consistently emitting chakra throughout their body, the user is able to keep their appearance adjusted at the cost of their Chakra Pool draining over time. As this technique is quite strenuous to uphold, experienced shinobi may see more clearly through this delusive disguise. This technique lasts for a number of posts equal to that of the user's (Chakra Pool/2).

*[Basic Jutsu • Chakra Kai]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A jutsu used with the purpose of activating seals and a range of devices and weapons, this technique begins with a single handseal. Once this has been performed, the user will focus a dollop of their chakra into what they are looking to activate in order to complete the task. Seals activated with this technique must be within 10 meters of the user's position.

*[Basic Jutsu • Act of Tree Climbing]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By focusing chakra into his/her feet, the user is able to walk up trees and other vertical surfaces in a similar fashion to walking along the ground. This chakra amount must be precise, and although all shinobi learn this technique, the user's control stat will determine how well this jutsu can be executed. Users with low control 2 or lower will often fall during the use of this technique, while users with average control 3 or higher will be able to use this technique functionally. It lasts for a number of posts equal to the user's Chakra Pool.

*[Basic Jutsu • Act of Water Surface Walking]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A variation of the Act of Tree Climbing technique, this jutsu requires the user to focus a precise and balanced amount of charka into the soles of his/her feet. By doing so, the user is able to walk on the surface of water as though it were a solid surface. Users with low control 2 or lower are much more likely to fall through the surface of the water, while users with average control 3 or higher will be able to use this technique functionally. It lasts for a number of posts equal to the user's Chakra Pool.

*[Basic Jutsu • Kai Release]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A rather simple technique that allows the user to escape from a genjutsu. The user will form a single ram seal and focus to reset their chakra system to purge themselves of foreign chakra. The stat requirements for this technique can be found in the genjutsu rules.

*[Basic Jutsu • Change of Body Stance Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After completing the necessary handseals, the user is able to quickly substitute his/her body with a nearby object that is at least 2/3rds his/her size, but no bigger than their body. This substitution allows the object to take the force of the attack that was meant for the user, additionally allowing the user to create distance between him/her and the opponent. The object used in this jutsu may not be objects that are imbued with chakra or controlled by it, and they may also only be single, solid objects within a 10 meter radius of the user. This technique may only be used a total of one time in a single thread, give or take how many times Shunshin no Jutsu has already been used.
Inuzuka Clan NinjutsuShow
*The Sleuth
D Rank Ninjutsu
Dogs are known to be excellent trackers, and the Inuzuka do everything they can to compete with their familiars. In an attempt to mimic their ninken, the Inuzuka member will perform a series of hand seals before channeling chakra to their nose, enhancing their sense of smell. While this isn’t very effective at picking out certain smells, if the user has been in close contact with someone, or has one of their possessions on hand, they will be able to more accurately pinpoint the source of scents that are less than eight posts old as long as aforementioned source is still within one mile of where the scent was originally picked up.

*Whistle
D Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the needed handseals, the user will begin to focus chakra into his/her lungs to prepare a high-pitched whistle. The user will then place a hand to his/her mouth and begin to release the chakra. Although no sound will be heard to other humans in the area, the whistle emits a higher pitched frequency that can be heard by the canine familiars, much like a dog whistle. This technique works as long as the familiar is in a 30 meter radius of the user. It is mainly used to call familiars to the user's location or to direct strategies.

*Four-Legged Technique
C Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the necessary handseals, the user of this jutsu will take on a more canine-like appearance. When activated, the user's pupils will become nothing more than slivers, nails will become more claw-like, and s/he will travel on all fours. This partial transformation grants the user +6 speed and increased maneuverability, but lowers his/her control (-6) for five (5) posts.
KatonShow
*Katon • Torch
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will exhale a small ball of flame directly in front of them. The ball lights up the surrounding area in a 10 meter radius and requires Strength greater than [Control] to destroy. Unless destroyed, it will stay locked in it's location for 5 posts before fading.

*Katon • Heated Blade
D-Rank Ninjutsu
By channeling katon chakra into a metal weapon or blade, the user will cause it to grow hotter and cover the blade in flames. The imbued weapon will be able to carve through defenses of [Control] or less strength with ease.

*Katon • Bomb Creation
C-Rank Ninjutsu
By channeling katon chakra into any item, the user will turn it into a ticking time bomb. Either when 3 posts are up or when activated through the use of Chakra Kai, the object will explode, releasing all the katon chakra in it in a [Control strength explosion and scattering flames in the immediate area.
TaijutsuShow
Jūjin StyleShow
Jūjin:
Jūjin
The taijutsu style most commonly used by the Inuzuka house, the high speed taijutsu style is designed to quickly assault and overwhelm the opponent with heavy handed and sharp attacks, including scratching, biting, tearing off flesh, and grabbing. While some view it as a weakness, taijutsu specialists admire the style for it’s ability to do damage without the use of a weapon.
These techniques may be used by either the Clan Member or Ninken.
Requires: [Close Quarters Combat] and [Acrobatics]
*Double Tackle
D Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: Both the clan member and the companion must have this technique
A combination technique utilized by members of the Inuzuka clan, the user will attempt to get on one side of the opponent as his/her familiar positions itself on the other side. Once in position, the user will charge and do a flying tackle at the opponent, aiming for the torso and head region. While this is going on, the Ninken will attempt to take out the target's legs by charging into them. If both the clan member and his/her familiar are successful, the opponent could be knocked over and possibly made vulnerable. This technique can be done on its own by either the ninken or the clan member, but isn't nearly as effective.

*Latch Onto
D Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Utilizing its teeth and strength, the clan member or familiar will attempt to latch onto the opponent's body with their mouth. From this position, the canine or Inuzuka will do whatever possible to resist being removed. In order to throw off the ninken or clan member, the target must have a strength higher than their strength.

*Arm Distance
D Rank Taijutsu Discipline
A passive technique, whenever the user is rebounding from an attack, they'll always jump away with enough distance that their opponent has to either follow them or attack preemptively if they wish to attack them. This allows the clan member or familiar to jump out of harm’s way and then jump right back in without much hesitation.

*Piercing Fang
C Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: ~ Four-Legged Technique must be active.
The basis for the Beast-Man form style of combat, this attack is performed by an individual clan member. By spinning rapidly, the user turns into a whirling mass before launching themselves at his/her target. By putting their full body into the attack, the clan member will hit an opponent or nearby object at full strength with their claws, easily rending flesh from bone.

*Biting Defense Technique
C Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The way of the ninja is deception, but many shinobi take it for granted that in a taijutsu battle, their opponent will just be fighting with his arms and legs. That’s why many opponents may be caught off guard when Inuzuka clan members readily put their abnormally strong teeth to work, biting down on exposed areas of their opponent during combat, especially the jugular. Users with high enough strength and taijutsu are even able to stop blows by biting down on the opponent's arm or leg before counterattacking with their unoccupied hands and feet.
Ochiba StyleShow
Ochiba:
Ochiba
Ochiba is a weapon style originating from the fire country, one of the few weapon styles developed by Shinobi and not Samurai. Ochiba translate as “Dead Leaf” As it is a weapon style that focuses on the use of a Kunai which are similar in appearance to a leaf. The kunai is held in a reversed manner, the handle comes up by the thumb and the blade comes down by the bottom of the hand. This allows for short, yet quick strikes and parries. Though this style is developed to use a kunai it can be transposed to other short weapons such as ninjato & tanto, though not all techniques will be available.
Requires: [Deft Hands] and [Sword Weapons]
*Ochiba • Single Finger Draw
D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Utilizing this manoeuvre, the user is able to quickly draw a kunai from its holster. This is done by placing their finger through the lip of the holder and into the ring of the pommel, flicking it up and out quickly, having the kunai in the user’s hand within an instant.

*Ochiba • Ambidexterity
D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilize both hands equally and as effectively without any penalty. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.

*Ochiba • Single Finger Seal
D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Having extensive experience with Deft Hands the user is able to manipulate a kunai within their hands and perform hand seals at full speed, without having to put down the kunai at any point.

*Ochiba • Oaken Defense
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
A technique that specializes in fighting Samurai and equalizing the battle field. The user will wait for their target to attack, and will quickly counter this by sliding the blade of their kunai onto the opponent's blade. The user will quickly move in towards their opponent while also sliding their kunai closer and closer to the opponent's hilt. This will force the angle of their blade to be raised and leaves the opponent wide open for attack.

*Ochiba • Double Finger Draw
C-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: *Ochiba • Single Finger Draw
Utilizing this manoeuvre, the user is able to quickly draw two kunai from its holster and have a kunai in either hand. This is done by placing their finger through the lip of the holder and into the ring of the pommel, of two kunai, flicking it up and out quickly and tossing a second kunai to the alternate hand, dual wielding kunai in both hands, within an instant.

*Ochiba • Spine of the Maple Tree
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Often used as a counterattack, by stepping under an incoming strike and resting on their front leg, they will quickly pivot slashing behind them, upwards across their opponent’s spine. This will likely cut the nerves connected to the users legs, making it difficult for them to move, giving a reduction of -5 speed, they will need to seek medical attention.
Flawless Aim StyleShow
Flawless Aim:
Flawless Aim
This style of combat is favored by shinobi preferring to use projectiles, often serving as a staple for ranged taijutsu users. Focusing on the synergy between their hands and senses, they strive to make their lethal skills reach as far as possible with absolute precision.
Requires: [Projectile Weapons]
*[Flawless Aim Style • Tracking]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to read an opponent's movements and adjust their aim accordingly to compensate without penalty. This Discipline allows the practitioner to accurately hit moving targets, though sudden changes in the opponent's movements will still affect accuracy.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Dead Angle Targeting]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After much training and study, the practitioner has learned how to use projectiles at close range, even point-blank range, with the same Strength as attacks against more distant targets. This Discipline allows the practitioner to use Flawless Aim techniques against melee-range targets without excessive exposure to counterattack and without losing Speed, Strength, or accuracy.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Arcing Shot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner can launch projectiles in arcs up and over most obstacles, being able to accurately hit a target that is behind obstructions as if they were in the open. The practitioner must still be able to locate their target by some other means to ensure the projectile will hit its target.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Evasive Maneuvers]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The practitioner has learned how to accurately launch projectiles while moving through the flow of combat. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to accurately launch projectiles while moving at full Speed, while jumping, rolling, sliding off the ground, or while performing other basic combat movements.

History
Historical AccountsShow
Being born an Inuzuka, Gurren knew his entire life that he would be a shinobi. His parents trained him from a young age, teaching him all the basics and generic shinobi knowhow instead of sending him to the academy. Although his way of life was essentially chosen for him, Gurren loved it. Chakra, ninjutsu, taijutsu, all of it-- it just felt natural.

On the day of Gurren's 10th birthday, he was lead into one of Konoha's forests by another Inuzuka shinobi to begin his Rite of Passage. He got along well with his parent's Ninken and the other dogs around their compound, and as such had high hopes about his ritual. Not long after being left alone, the pack of canines found him. There were four pups with them, but one of them immediately took to Gurren, and vice versa. The pup was black and white similar to a shepherd dog, and although they both seemed to know that they were meant to be companions, Gurren stayed in the forest for an entire week. He got to know the pack and their lifestyle, and more of the pup itself. His name was Jackpot.

Once Gurren and Jackpot returned home together, his parents formally enrolled him into the academy. He already excelled at all of the basics, and as such focused much of his time there training Jackpot to be a proper Ninken. The two of them were inseparable, and treated each other like brothers. Once he reached graduation age, Gurren left the academy as a genin. He now spends his days continuing his training with Jackpot and fulfilling his duty to his village as a genin shinobi!
