Haru
"In perfect balance, as all things should be."
General Information
Age: 42
Gender: Male
Height: 7'11"
Weight: 320 lbs
Physical Features:
- Face/head: Haru's face is very square and strong with deep set bluish green eyes resting below a heavy brow crowned by thick bushy eyebrows. His blond, almost white, hair is kept short and often swept back. His jaw is almost chiseled from granite with a fairly flat chin. And his face shows signs of age and sorry as lines have begun to form at the creases.
- Body: Haru's frame is extremely muscular and bulky. His shoulders and neck along look like boulders attached to the worked stone that is his chest and core. His arms are like trees growing from those boulders that end in abnormally large hands. Moving down to his core he has a thin layer of fat that rests against all of the obviously well developed muscle in the area that denies him sporting abs. Moving further down his legs are as pillars of marble that hold up the rest of the temple that is his body.
- Notable Features: Haru is typical of his family in most ways including his size. However, the atypical coloration of his skin stands out. Haru's hide significantly darker than his kin due to living a life mostly in the sun and working the outdoors.
Personality:
- General: Haru enjoys a quiet life whenever possible. He isn't too fond of being around large crowds nor does he particularly have much energy to entertain people. A perfect day to him is to wake up, enjoy a peaceful meal, indulge in some hobbies, and then go to work only to return home and quietly read from his texts and meditate on their guidance. When he must entertain he often feels its better to listen than speak, rarely growing excited and only really responding when prompted or he has something relevant to say. While his guests speak he'll often find a small instrument and flit out a quiet tune or stoke the fire, finding the calm beauty relaxing. When prompted to speak he tends to take the chance to teach or address a problem. Providing what simple aid he can. Even he sometimes knows that the only aid one can provide is to simply be there though, so he keeps a small set of stories and poems memorized for such an occasion.
- Hopes/Dreams: Haru wants nothing more than to get to a point where he can live out the rest of his life in peaceful solitude, allowing the world's problems to handle themselves. Contrast to his radiant brother he wishes to be forgotten by time as he quietly lessens the burdens on other's shoulders before he retires to a grave of earth and water.
- Fears: The world keeps turning and dreams conflict. Desires clash against each other and egos are only human. There is no true right or wrong and Haru knows that. He keeps his scope limited to what he can directly affect and wishes to cultivate. However, he does even this with caution as the world is infinitely complex and he constantly questions his actions. To lead someone down a path where they suffer is something he wishes not bear on his mind as he's already done so before.
- Combat Mentality: The man is very passive in his fighting, electing to allow his opponents to thrust themselves upon him and wear themselves out. Even as he's suffering injury and damage he'll still attempt to appeal to his foe's senses, casting calming genjutsu or misdirection in an effort to get them to just stop. Especially if he has allies by his side. If that fails, he'll simply continue to endure and play the war of attrition until he can connect with something to remove them from the fight.

~Tenketsu Tethering: Link Up I D-Rank Ninpou After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan clan member will make physical contact with their target by touching them. When they lift their hand a pink whisp of chakra will be extend out from the target to themselves. This tether can stretch up to [Control] x 2 meters and lasts for [Control]/5 posts. When stretched further than this range, the tether remains but will be unusable as a medium for tether techniques. ~Tenketsu Tethering: Status Check D-Rank Ninpou Requires: [Iijutsu] After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will check the vitals of all those they are connected to at that precise moment. While not exactly precise, this will give them a relative feel on a 5 point scale of the core vitals (temperature, oxygen rate, blood amount, and heart rate) of their connected targets. ~Tenketsu Tethering: State of Mind D-Rank Ninpou Requires: [Iijutsu] After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will check the mental state of all those they are connected to at that precise moment. This will give them information on if the connected target is currently undergoing any form of mental trauma (for example: high levels of fear/anxiety, or extreme stress) and how relatively strong that mental trauma is. This does not include if the target is being influenced by genjutsu. ~Tenketsu Tethering: Snapshot D-Rank Ninpou After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member closes their eyes and checks the current view of all those they are connected to at that precise moment. This will give them just a quick, single snapshot of what their linked targets see at the point of activating the jutsu. For the Kyoukan member this plays the image in their head, each for a second or two. Opening their eyes before each snapshot plays cancels the feedback.[/i] |

~Tenketsu Tethering: Link Up II C-Rank Ninpou After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will make fire off a pink whisp of chakra from themselves at a target at a speed of [Control] and up to [Control] meters away. If contact is made, a tether will form. This tether can stretch up to [Control] x 2 meters and lasts for [Control]/5 posts. When stretched further than this range, the tether remains but will be unusable as a medium for tether techniques. ~Tenketsu Tethering: Minor Heal C-Rank Ninpou Requires: [Iijutsu] After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will channel chakra into a specific tether delivering a pulse of healing chakra. This chakra will heal superficial damage and clot blood almost instantly however deeper but small wounds, cuts, bruises, will take up to a post to regenerate. ~Tenketsu Tethering: Communication C-Rank Ninpou After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will activate the ability to pass communication along their link in the form of audio. This allows them to talk to and listen to their linked companions for up to 5 posts. ~Tenketsu Tethering: Visual Link C-Rank Ninpou After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will close one of their eyes then hone in on one of their links specifically, connecting their sense of vision to their link. This allows the Kyoukan family member to see through that persons eyes for up to 5 posts. Opening their eye at anytime during the duration of the technique will cancel the technique. |

~Tenketsu Tethering: Link Up III B-Rank Ninpou Sacrificing maximum range and duration for the ability to quickly connect too many targets quickly, after a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will release a pulse of pink chakra in a 35 meter radius around them. Any living thing the chakra touches will have a tether formed between itself and the Kyoukan member. The formed tether can stretch up to [Control] meters and lasts for [Control]/10 posts. When stretched further than this range, the tether remains but will be unusable as a medium for tether techniques. ~Tenketsu Tethering: Greater Heal B-Rank Ninpou Requires: [Iijutsu] After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will channel a generous amount of chakra into a specific tether delivering a pulse of healing chakra. This chakra is capable of healing small wounds or less instantly. Larger wounds like open gashes will gain a faster regenerative property allowing them clot and prevent further damage instantly and to heal completely within 2 posts. ~Tenketsu Tethering: Surveillance B-Rank Ninpou After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will close both of their eyes, then connect themselves to the vision of all current links they possess. A mentally taxing technique, the clan member must possess a sharp mind capable of weaving together the different sets of vision, but those capable can unlock an outstanding field of vision and view of the battlefield around them. Kyoukan family members may keep this technique running for up to [Willpower]/10 posts. Opening their eyes at anytime during the duration of the technique will cancel the technique. |

~Tenketsu Tethering:[/b] Sacrificial Shield A-Rank Ninpou After a set of hand seals, the Kyoukan family member will place all five fingers delicately on their heart and with the other hand touch all the tethers they wish to target. Those targeted will find themselves covered in a strange veil of pink smoke-like chakra that is perfectly see-through. This layer is known as the "spirit shell" and with the full-fledged tether complete, this will make those effected temporarily invulnerable at a dark cost... Weapons, or any thing that would damage those guarded by the spirit shell seem to "phases" through them. However, the damage will appear in relativity on the Kyoukan clan member's body. This means that stabbing a linked person in the chest will do nothing to them, but their Kyoukan clan member will suddenly gain a stab wound in their chest as if they were stabbed by the blade itself. This effect can last up to [Control]/5 posts. |

~Kinjutsu S-Rank Ninpou A technique forbidden by the elders to prevent young Kyoukan family members from recklessly killing or endangering themselves, after a set of hand seals the Kyoukan will touch up to [Control]/10 tethers, making the touched tethers targets. Targets and the Kyoukan will be shrouded in a veil of red smoke-like chakra that is perfectly see-through. This layer is known as the "corrupted spirit shell" and has the a partially reverse function of the normal spirit shell. Weapons, or any thing that would damage the shell seemingly "phases" through them. Wherever they were damaged however, the damage will appear in relativity on both the Kyoukan clan member and the linked opponents bodies. This means that stabbing the Kyoukan clan member or the linked opponent will cause all the parties to gain the exact wound as if they were suddenly stabbed by the blade itself. This effect can last up to [Control]/5 posts. |
Sacred Shield of Kumogakure no SatoShow
Madness' Folly:Akunin has developed a style that focuses on steadfast defenses using an unorthodox pair of doors as shields and a thick chain. The shield is used to block and deflect attacks as possible, while the chain is used to redirect and impede others the shield may not handle well. By minimizing energy expenditure through no wasted motion they seek to win a war of attrition before moving in and binding them with as little damage done as possible.
Requires: [Rigid Body], [Shields], [Corded Weapons]
D |
---|
Deflection D - Tai (Maneuver) When receiving a blow the user will angle their shield or body in such a way as to redirect a portion of the impact away from themselves. This effectively reduces the force of the impact by three. Planted Wall D - Tai (Stance) The practitioner anchors their shield in front of themselves and braces it at a slight upward angle from behind to present a wall against attacks. The shield redirects the brunt of any force into the ground while the individual holds it in place. This leaves the user vulnerable from all sides but directly in front. However, the user can only block impacts up to their strength, any greater and they will be bowled over as if nothing happened. However, if they block the impact they will take no damage as all the force will be directed into the ground. Catch and Redirect D - Tai (Maneuver) Primarily used against projectile attacks the practioner will swing their chain out while attempting to predict the travel path of their target. If they have more speed than the target they will wrap the chain around it and then jerk it in another direction, attempting to veer it off course. If they have more strength than the target they can gain full control of it and redirect it wherever they want. If the target beats their strength by five or more they can only throw it off course up or behind them or down to hit the ground first. If it exceeds by more than ten then this has no effect. Shield Surf D - Tai (Maneuver) If being struck by an attack the user can de-anchor themselves and allow the force of the impact to push them, going with the flow of the attack rather than attempting to stop it. This displaces the user and may leave them vulnerable, but effectively allows them to bypass direct damage from attacks that hit the shield without breaking it besides some sore arms. |
C |
---|
Chain Manipulation C - Tai (Disc) The practitioner has practiced using a chain as a weapon enough to be able to swing it accurately out to its full length. In addition they are capable of causing the chain to make sudden turns and loops down its length while mid flight through sudden jerks and manipulations at their end. Calming Breath C - Tai (Disc) It is difficult to keep one's level head while in the heat of battle. Practitioners learn how to control their breathing, taking deep and slow breaths at all times. Doing so helps them keep calm and focused. A side effect is reducing the effects of exhaustion by limiting their energy expenditure and keeping themselves oxygenated. Hammer On C - Tai (Maneuver) If being struck by a solid mass attack the practitioner can "punch" it with their shield in an effort to return it to sender. If the practitioner has more strength than the attack they'll launch it back in a direction of their choice at their strength minus the strength of the attack in speed. Otherwise, they'll simply reduce its impact force by the difference between their strength and it's. |
GenjutsuShow
*[Genjutsu • When Pigs Fly] D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu A rather simple genjutsu that is put into place when the user says a statement ending in "When Pigs Fly". Seconds later, anyone who hears the user say that will see several pigs with full hawk wings fly past, just a few feet above the user and the victim’s head, serving as a somewhat confusing distraction. *[Genjutsu • Boom!] D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu The user will do a series of hand seals, then within the next post, snap their fingers. Anyone who hears the snapping will hear an explosion in the distance behind them. This works as an effective distraction, or a scare tactic, if properly utilized. |
C |
---|
*[Genjutsu • Dull Pain] C-Ranked Status Genjutsu The user does the needed hand seals, and then locks eyes with the target to trap the target in the genjutsu. For the next 10 posts, any pain that the target feels as if nothing really happened, effectively lessening all pain and nerve responses. The target would still be damaged, but any damage done to them would feel as though it is far less severe than it actually it, and as such they will usually overestimate their own stamina. |
History
Historical AccountsShow
Haru began life very simply with his elder brother to watch over him. The pair grew inseparable in life and Haru tended to follow in Akino's footsteps, often literally. A quiet and peaceful early life was afforded the brothers which allowed them to indulge in idealism and dreaming. Haru had no big aspirations of his own, but he did want to support his elder brother and thus joined the monks that wandered the land, maintaining the temples and shrines along with him. And when the time came to choose a career from then forward, he followed Akino to the military.
Through their military careers it became obvious that Akino was gifted in talking to and with people. He'd be able to turn a bad day into a great one and calm a distraught child who had lost their pet. This didn't suite Haru in the least, but he remained in the corner of his brother's shadow, happy to see the man rise through the ranks and see his ability and skills grow. While Akino would take missions that lead them through some thin icy roads, Haru would be more than happy to accompany him. While Akino's star rose high, Haru wanted nothing more than see it shine.
As the years moved on it started to become more clear that Akino was becoming something of a local legend. It may have been helped by Haru constantly letting him take the spotlight and ducking into a nice shadow to enjoy a quiet drink. But never the less, Akino was gaining acclaim enough he was becoming one of Kumogakure's brilliant examples, and Haru saw the writing on the wall. To that end he went to a temple to pray and ask for guidance from the spirits, desperate to help his rising brother as from the shadows he had known the whispers that could rise. Even if one was a great man, there would also be someone wishing to strike them down. Once he got to the temple he witnessed the building in decay. A fire had claimed it and all that stood were it's mighty doors, and the chains that held the great shrine aloft useless on the ground. Heaving a sigh and looking to the stars, he took the sign and claimed these as his answer. His brother would likely find himself in trouble one day, with enemies at the door. He might as well be that door and bind anyone that tries to pass.
A decade later Akino had been selected as the Raikage of Kumogakure no Sato, and Haru couldn't be more proud of his kin. He'd watched the rising star every step of the way, often being the one to look into the darkness to protect the light. However, the fateful day would come after years of peace and happiness that Haru would not be there. He had traveled once yearly to the burnt shrine to pay his respects and restore it slowly. Akino was perfectly capable of handling himself and he had a guard with him at nearly all times. The shadows within the tower known as Banri had been no threat up to that point either, even if Haru didn't trust the man. However, that fateful trip Banri had made his move and Akino was struck down. The news hit Haru in the pit of his soul and caused the man to recluse.
The man's heart grew cold and he lost interest in the job, retiring as a mere jounin and choosing to live out his days quietly in his home. Some days he'd return to civilization and he never stopped his travels to the shrines. But with a heavy heart and an ear to the darkness within himself and the country his brother loved so dearly he couldn't muster the same love to continue as he was. He kept on like this, hiding away from people, until a letter had come for him bearing the seal of Lightning, the official mark of the Raikage. The contents merely asked for him to meet the man at the tower. Finishing his meal of rice and fish, he gathered his belongings and made the trip. He'd met this Hayete never before, choosing to avoid the man for fear seeing him in that chair would reopen old wounds. But if he was summoned, he had to answer. Perhaps it would be something important.
