- Face/head: Tozoku has dirty blonde hair, the back and sides are shaved and the hair on top of his head is kept closely trimmed to avoid being grabbed. His eyes are blue. His skin is tan from the elements. Tozoku is neither particularly handsome nor hideous. His features are best described as forgettable, the only highlights being his old wounds. His nose has been broken once or twice, resulting in a crooked bridge. A scar runs down the left side of his face, staring just below his eye then following the contours of his jaw. The flesh is raised and inflamed. His left ear lobe is gone. the scar tissue suggests a dull blade being the culprit. He shaves his face daily to keep his beard at bay.
- Body: His body is a utilitarian reflection of his profession. Not overly muscled to hinder movement, however his wiry frame contains a deceptive amount of power. Much like his face, his skin is crisscrossed with scar tissue. The hands and forearms have the most scar tissue. A large jagged line goes across his abdomen.

On the surface, stoic and unflappable. His inner monologue and feelings however betray him. The nature of his work and the dangerous people he encounters really freak him out at times. He persists nonetheless. While he does put up a front of being cold and calculating, he's willing and able to work in a group to increase his chances of survival. His deadpan demeanor is sometimes at odds with the occasional sarcastic remark. People aren't often sure when he is joking and when he isn't. All in all, he doesn't have the charisma that would make him the center of attention, he's often in the back round, for better or worse. - Hopes/Dreams: He hopes to live to fight another day, his dream? To die peacefully in his sleep in his 80's.

A simple yet potent defense, especially against other weapons users, the practitioner partially draws the sword from its scabbard and blocks incoming attacks with the back of their blade. This technique is ineffective against opponents with higher Strength than the practitioner's Strength.

Conversely, against opponents with higher Strength than their own, the practitioner can use this technique to push themselves back a number of meters equal to their own Strength score. An abnormally aggressive technique in Iaido, this technique serves as a preemptive counter, attacking the opponent in the split moment between drawing back to prepare an attack and launching said attack. Violently torquing the muscles in their legs, the practitioner more quickly accelerates to their maximum speed (or instantly accelerating to their max speed if their Strength is equal or higher than their Speed) than with normal movement. With this movement, the practitioner bolts toward the opponent and launches an attack, cutting the opponent as they pass to their side. This technique can be used while moving to immediately change direction instead before launching the attack. Properly reading this attack requires the opponent to have a Perception technique of equal or higher rank than this technique.

This technique can strike multiple opponents at once, and the reverse grip of the sword allows the practitioner to more easily defend against counterattacks immediately after.

Unlike most of Iaido's techniques, Silent Passing is not particularly useful in the heat of combat. Tozoku's upbringing wasn't particularly interesting. His mother was a Chunnin level ninja and his father worked as a barber. He grew up the middle child of his two brothers. As a young boy he admired his mother greatly and in his mind she was the strongest and coolest. His relationship with his father was a little more contentious. As a young boy with dreams of heroism, his dad's line of work and gentle demeanor was just about the lamest thing he could imagine. He was later enrolled in the academy, following in his mother's footsteps. He was an average student by all accounts and graduated at the standard age of 13. It was shortly after his own graduation to Gennin that his mother suffered a career ending injury, forcing her into retirement. During a tracking mission her team was spotted and a battle ensued. She and her team were able to fend them off and escape, however she returned with 3 missing fingers and could no longer wield her sword. It was then that she passed on her katana to her son. It was an unremarkable sword by all accounts, but it holds a lot of sentimental value to Tozoku.
Tozoku was best described as a journeymen ninja. He wasn't particularly flashy but got the job done and had a lot of practical experience. While some of his peers would rocket past him in skill and rank, he worked diligently as a low level ninja. Tozoku would remain a Gennin until he was 24. It was then, on a routine mission that his fate changed. Tozoku and 3 others were tasked with tracking and reporting on the movements of a high level rouge ninja. They were not to engage the target in direct combat, which would spell certain death for the team. Things didn't go as planned however and the worst case scenario was unfolding before his very eyes. He was split off from his team and facing down a much greater foe. There was a moment, while he was desperately fending off blows with this mother's sword that he was sure that he would die or at the very least get maimed like his mother before him. Something inside of him spurred him forward, something stronger than his will to live and terror. It was his pride and his ego. "If this is it, then how far can I go?" Call it luck or skill, the two exchanged one last flurry of blows. Tozoku was left clutching his stomach, a deep laceration across his belly. As he felt the blood seep from between his fingers he awaited the killing blow that never came and lost consciousness.
He awoke in a hospital, very much alive and covered in some deep scars. He later learned that he held out just long enough for reinforcements to come to his aide. The rouge ninja escaped and the mission was a failure. There was a lot of time for introspection while he recovered in the hospital. He realized now that he was too complacent. Once healed he redoubled his efforts and commited himself to training. He passed the Chunnin exam shortly after with little fanfare. As lackluster as he was, his fundamentals were strong and he had a decade of experience to draw from. Tozoku now wants to find out what his limits are, and perhaps find that rouge ninja on the battlefield again.
