DescriptionShow Gendo is a rotund man. His love of fine foods and wine has ensured he will never be the picture of health or at the height of fashion. His years spent travelling has ensured his skin has a healthy tan and he often shaves his head; a common practice at his former temple though not something all Vrashni followers adhere to. The fat on his face make his already naturally small eyes even smaller, often appearing to be closed rather than actually open; on the occasions that one can see his eyes they are a dark blue that are almost grey in colour. Clothing/AccessoriesShow More often than not Gendo can be seen wearing the same clothes he has worn for the last fifteen years; a simple grey kimono top with very baggy sleeves that is bordered in white and held closed by a dark brown obi, a pair of black travelling pants that are white around the calves and finally simple straw sandals that are held in place with red string. The more decorative items he wears include a necklace of very thick beads which rests over a pink scarf that is more often than not wrapped around his neck. Finally, he wears two rope belts; the first is thick, pink, and serves to carry the large pot often seen on his back. The second is thinner and covered with decorative beads, usually holding a bottle of wine or water. PictureShow PersonalityShow Cast out of the only place he has ever known as home, Gendo has spent the majority of his adult life wandering the world. He has seen firsthand the destructive practices of soldiers and ninja and, despite being excommunicated from his order, he continues to practice the ways of Vrashni and believe in peace over anger. Knowing that the world is filled with all kinds of wrong, he does what he can to make the world around him a better place in small ways; he practices instruments and the arts, encourages the youth around him and can almost always be seen with a calm, gentle smile on his face. He isn't above his vices however, enjoying food and drink and smoking far more than a monk should, often going out of his way to get these finer things when visiting a village or city. He also isn't above what he considers to be harmless ploys; using his status as a monk to 'cleanse' bad omens and dark spirits which are in fact the butterflies that constantly follow him around in order to gain favour among the locals. During his wanderings, his own personal omen has continually grown stronger, a sign that what he did during his youth may be beginning to weaken the other seals guarded by the main Vrashni temples of worship. Gendo's current goal in life is to travel to each temple and ensure that the seals that keep the Cardinal Omens intact remain that way. The only problem with that goal is that each and every Vrashni temple is aware of his excommunication from the order and is just as likely to kill him on sight as they are to let him anywhere near the sacred seals. HistoryShow Gendo does not remember life before the temple; his earliest memories are of being taught the ways of Vrashni, of being raised among his brother monks, and of being lectured for hours on end about his constant stealing of extra food. In his youth he was a clumsy fool and was often assigned punishments in the form of cleaning the temple floors or tending to the temple gardens whenever he broke a plate or spilt his water. On one such occasion he wasn't paying attention and while cleaning the floors ending up going into a room that, for as long as Gendo had been at the temple, was always closed and sealed by lock and key. Inside he stumbled upon one of the elder monks fervently trying to open a large pot in the middle of room stood upon a dais and surrounded by fire pits. The noise of Gendo entering was apparently enough to draw the monk's ire, whom Gendo later figured out was trying to steal the pot and its contents, and was attacked. In his attempt to escape, Gendo threw the mop he had been using at the monk who dodged it and in doing do the mop hit the pot. A single crack was placed along the side, nothing a little clay couldn't easily fix. The grey miasma that spewed forth from the crack and consumed the elder monk however wasn't quite so fixable. From the pot poured an army of butterflies, coming in a pale shade of grey with no markings. They swarmed around the stupefied Gendo until they began to force their way into his mouth. Being choked to death by whatever it was that he had accidently released, Gendo passed out only to find that instead of death he was greeted by voices. Thousands upon thousands of voices. All swearing eternal loyalty to their saviour. When he awoke, Gendo was outside the temple walls with the pot next to him and a note nearby. It read 'Akechi Gendo, you have slain a brother and broken an ancient seal guarding the world from the Cardinal Omens. You are hereby excommunicated from this order and are banished from all Vrashni temples.' He later found out they had tried to kill him; the butterflies that he had thought were trying to do the same job had actually protected him from the monks and prevented any of them from getting closer than a few feet. Since that time Gendo has wandered the world, forever on the move. During the initial years, his Omens attacked without thought, letting nothing come near him. No human, no animals, even suspect plantlife was decimated by the voracious butterflies. As time passed they began to react more to his emotional state and his desires, despite the fact Gendo hated them. Their minds became as one, the swarm reacting to even the slightly motion from Gendo in a way that could only be described as telepathic. No more than a year or two before the current date, Gendo had a run in with a Vrashni practioner from one of the temples in the North. Upon seeing the Omen he carried, the man attempted to kill him, fearing that Gendo was going to try and break the other seals. After his Omen defended his life, Gendo had to fight to control them and keep them from killing the man, forcing them back into their pot. Apparently, the seals had been weakening for years. Twelve years; the exact amount of time he had been wandering the world, the exact amount of time that had passed since he had first accidently broken the seal of the Western Omen. Gendo decided to set out after that meeting and visit every Vrashni temple he could find; he had no idea which temples held the other seals and it was his duty to prevent them from being broken in repetency of his original sin. |

SyncShow [Omen of Disturbance] D-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to all flap their wings at once, causing a large wind storm that picks up dust, loose stones, and other environmental hazards to create a dust storm that covers an area equal to Sync/5 meters3 at a speed of 5 that lingers for 3 posts before the dust settles again. [Omen of Safety] D-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to swarm around an incoming projectile, using their collective strength to stop it before it can reach its target. For each projectile the swarm attempts to stop, the effective strength of the swarm is divided. [Omen of Perception] D-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to spread out over a large area equal to Sync in meters. Anything that enters this area will trigger a chain reaction among the butterflies, resulting in a message reaching Gendo of any detected presences at a speed of 5. [Omen of Deception] D-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to form together into a set of 3 vaguely humanoid figures; their natural pale grey colouration making the formation look almost like a walking ghost. These 'clones' only have a 1 in each stat, however they are capable of physically interacting with the environment, moving up to Sync*2 meters from Gendo and can maintain the configuration for [Sync/10] posts before they must return. [Omen of Protection] D-Rank Sync Technique Should Gendo or his swarm ever percieve Gendo's life to be in direct danger, the link between himself and his butterflies will call the swarm to protect him, swarming around whatever is attacking him in an attempt to both protect Gendo and destroy the threat. [Omen of Captivity] C-Rank Sync Technique Prerequisite: [Omen of Perception] Upon receiving the warning of an impending threat through his butterflies, Gendo will direct his swarm to where the signal originally came from at which point they will rapidly fly around whatever triggered the original 'ping' so long as they are still within 10 meters of the original position. [Omen of Fear] C-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to rapidly fly around a 5m radius perimeter, encasing whatever is within and blocking out any sources of light. This formation prevents anyone from leaving that doesn't have the strength to defeat the swarm and while they will not attack whatever is within, contact with the wall of butterflies results in their poison being transferred whomever touched them. [Omen of Life] C-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies back into their pot. In the event that the swarm has lost any of its number, they rapidly breed within the confines of their home and given the unique nature of their breed new larvae become full grown Omen Butterflies. During this time Gendo cannot use his swarm. This restores them at a rate of 5 feet 3 per post for 5 posts. [Omen of Eclipse] C-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to link together and create a sheet that measures 50m in length and width. This sheet then hovers above Gendo, preventing any light sources that are above, such as the sun, from getting through and enshrouding the entire area in darkness. [Omen of Illusion] C-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to form together into a set of 10 vaguely humanoid figures; their natural grey colouration making the formation look almost like a walking ghost. These 'clones' only have a 1 in each stat, however they are capable of physically interacting with the environment, moving up to Sync*2 meters from Gendo and can maintain the configuration for [Sync/5] posts before they must return. [Omen of Collapse] B-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to gather underneath a target, pushing them upwards into the sky at a speed of 20. At the height of their climb, 30m into the air, the butterflies will let go of the target and let it crash back into the ground before driving downwards and pummelling it once more. [Omen of Steel] B-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm to dive bomb an area at a speed of 20, covering an area equal to the swarm. Upon impact the butterflies wings are akin to steel, allowing the butterflies to cut at a Strength of 20 instead of relying on blunt force damage or their poison. [Omen of Disruption] B-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs a few butterflies from his swarm to float lazily around the head of his intended target, appearing as little more than average butterflies. Should the target attempt to move, make hand seals, or swat them away, the butterflies will attempt to fly into the mouth of the target, using the rash generated from its poisonous wings to gain entry. [Omen of Creation] B-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs his swarm to create a construct of any shape or size so long as it remains within the confines of the limits of the swarm's size. Once erected this construct can maintain its form for [Sync/5] posts, though any strike of more than 20 strength will cause it to collapse. [Omen of Demise] A-Rank Sync Technique Prerequisite: 30 Sync Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to all flap their wings at once, causing the scales on their wings to flake and spread over an area equal to Sync/5 meters3 at a speed of 30 the only lingers for a 1 post. Anything caught within this cloud will then be covered in a thin layer of venomous scales, resulting in rashes, and accelerating their poisoned stage by a single post. [Omen of Death] A-Rank Sync Technique Gendo directs a portion of his swarm of butterflies to go directly for the mouth of the intended victim. These butterflies push against the mouth of the target with 30 strength until they are either forced away or gain entrance. The swarm then flies inside and sheds their poisonous scales, accelerating the rate the target is poisoned by 3 posts. |
