Hair: He was born dark brown hair he's styled into dreadlocks for convenience. Umiko will occasionally decorate it with beads or whatever she has on hand to make it look nicer. It tends to have a pleasant salty smell even when he hasn’t been to the ocean he loves so much in days. | Eyes: His left eye is a fluid persian green color like that of the ocean in warm tropical climates. It seems to glow as if you were under the water in the ocean looking up at the sun, giving off an eerie luminescence that people find disturbing at night. He has a pair of second eyelids that's thick and clear, that acts like goggles allowing him to see underwater. His right eye is gone lost during the war. Though both sets of eyelids are intact the right eye inside is gone. |
Physical Features: His skin is warm as if he has been out in the sun and has strong dark tan from years of working out on the water. He has many scars and worn rough hands from years of his hobbies of fishing and sailing as well the harsh training his father put him through. In particular a nasty scar on his face recieved while he was battling a run in with a rather territorial samurai. He has a number of tribal tattoos across his chest and over his arms. Although large stature is common in his father's family, Kaisui is abnormally tall and he has out grown most members of his family measuring at 7'8”. He has a tall powerful build that radiates strength and shows the results of his training and fishing with large well defined muscles. His ancestry gives him a few unusual traits. Inherited from his mother he has three slits behind each ear that are the outside of his gills as well as webbed toes. In his transformed state he has pale green skin with bioluminescent markings. He also has fins on his arms and legs as well as flippers for feet. |
Personality: He and his father came to blows over his love of sailing. He wished to reject his father’s path of the shinobi, not selfless enough to give up his dream of living on a boat fishing for a living. He loves the ocean and believes he has lost his heart to it, his passion for the freedom the sea offers out weighing all else. He has an inborn desire to be around the ocean. When landlocked its as if the ocean is calling to him from the back of his mind. Originally wishing people would let him be, wanting a simple life of fishing, sailing and going where he pleases; the naive boy who once dreamed of living vicariously on the ocean is gone. The childish dreams of quiet and peace outside the village blasted away by the harsh reality of the world. Slavery, war, poverty, all have left their mark on the poor young man and a hard resolve has grown within him as a result. No longer does he awkwardly stand embarrassed by his size. No now he stands proud and uses his size to his advantage. Kaisui fights violently against slavery any against any oppressor that would dare infringe upon the freedoms and liberties of another. Not a complete anarchist however, being the captain of a ship and the former Pirate King he understands the need for structure and order. His anger and violence is aimed mostly at tyrants that use their position or power to mistreat those of lesser status. |

At the helm of his ship he wears a luxurious coats left overs from his time as Pirate King. When on dry land however he tends to wear a simple brown leather trench coat. He wears a pair of loose pants held up by a belt. He wears a pair of weather worn boots. He has a leather pouch he wears on his right hip that holds his scrolls. On his left hip he keeps a cutlass he scavenged off a fallen pirate. He has a quiver that holds not arrows but his fishing rod. |

Equipment: Kaisui carries a 9 ft long fishing rod as his main weapon, it has razor thin wire in place of regular fishing line that is 25 ft. that's capable of cutting into flesh, and the pole itself is as hard as steel at the handle the top being hard but flexible for fishing. The hooks he typically make himself though a novice hook is typically equipped on it. He has a 3ftx3ft net made of 1” thick rope. This net is typically used as a back pack to carry fish and other things. On his left hip an oversized cutlass that matches his large stature. The cutlass has 5ft long bland and grip that was originally meant to be wielded with two hands by a smaller man that can only fit one of his hands. |
Kaisui's preferred method of combat is to fight where he holds an overwhelming advantage, beneath the surface of the water. He'll use jutsu to entrap a target underwater with him. He likes to use his fishing rod as a whip while above the water for ranged attacks but uses a cutlass to get up close and personal taking advantage of his size and strength. In the event he doesn't see a possible win he'll try a battle of attrition and hide underwater when possible.

Child of the Sea:Taijutsu Concentrations:Although Kaisui has never met his mother, he does know she wasn't entirely human. His webbed toes and the gills behind his ears testify to that. Although his father always refused to talk about her, Kaisui has come up with a few ideas of his own. His first theory is easily debunked as the family resemblance to his father is too strong to suggest he's adopted. Other theories include possessed mother, blessed by a water spirit, evil scientist experimentation. Truth is he doesn't know and doesn't really care. All he knows is he has a unique physiology because of his mother.
Child of the SeaShowKaisui has a couple of passive traits from his heritage. Most of these passive traits are rather obvious such as the visible gills that allow him to breath underwater and his webbed toes which increase maneuverability with in the water negating the usual debuff/penalty of being underwater. Kaisui has two sets of eye lids, the normal human ones and a hidden clear one that shields his eyes when underwater acting like goggles and filtering out certain spectrums of light so he can see through ocean water. He also has an uncanny ability to find large bodies of water such as a pond, lake or river. He has an unexplainable urge to be in the ocean whether its his instincts or something more is unknown. While in the ocean he has an ability along the lines of a nautical navigator, able to determine his location at sea from underwater currents. The downside of his fishy anatomy is he's weakened on land and must frequently rehydrate his body and wet his gills.
As such Kaisui can't survive living in environments scarce of water. This weakness is a 5 point debuff on both his strength and speed.
While in the water this debuff is negated. And his stats return to normal.Mother's GiftShowWhile Kaisui is underwater he's able to unlock the hidden potential of his genes and can transform. While transformed Kaisui can also dive deeper than normal humans, his fish form anatomy lacking air inside, able to withstand the pressure that would crush a normal human and implode their lungs. In this form he gains an extra organ capable of a form of sonar allowing him to talk underwater, the sound waves traveling through water undistorted. The down side to this form is that it cannot breath air.
Due to the added fins and ease of movement underwater, his speed and strength are both boosted by 5 while transformed. Kaisui can remain in this form for a number of post equal to his endurance. The cooldown for this form is half the number of post it is held.FishieboiShow

Suiton:Suiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Suiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Suiton affinity. Suiton has a passive enveloping effect.Passive (Enveloping)ShowSuiton's effect is enveloping, meaning that suiton passively surrounds anything that it makes contact with. Suiton techniques that do not last over periods of times (i.e, exploding techniques) drench their opponents, but long term techniques will envelop anything they come in contact with and maintain a hold on it with the 3/4th strength of the technique, rounded down. This means that if a suiton wave is shot forward with 17 strength, it will envelope and move anything with it that does not have more than 12 strength to resist it. This allows Suiton to fill a very powerful role in eliminating tools from opponent's access and capturing targets.

A character with this concentration is able to utilize Raiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Raiton affinity. Raiton has a shocking effect.Passive (Shocking)ShowRaiton has the effect of shocking, which means causes it's effect to be diffuse upon impact. In organic material, this causes nervous stimulation which results in numbness, tingling, loss of sensation, and sometimes paralysis. In inorganic material, this means that the strength of the jutsu diffuses across an area 2x the size of the attack. In a jutsu that creates a lightning ball 2m in diameter, if it struck a wall the size of the attack would cover a 4m area.
Additionally, the strength of the nervous effect on organic material from raiton jutsu is determined by the strength stat requirement.

Created to safely incapacitate opponents, after performing the correct hand seals, if the opponent is within 25 meters and is standing a top a body of seawater with the user's chakra in it, the user will begin to churn their chakra causing the water to turn into a vortex and engulf the opponent, trapping them in a vortex about two meters in diameter. Once the target is inside, the user must hold the last seal and cannot use any other techniques, capable of holding this for up to five posts. In order to escape, the target must have at least [Control] strength to physically make their way out, or the user must be disrupted. Most shinobi would pass out after two posts due to a lack of oxygen. However, if a target possesses an Endurance stat higher than 10, it would require three posts for them to pass out. Should the target possess an Endurance stat above 20, it would require five posts for them to pass out, but anything higher than 30 would allow them to resist passing out altogether. This jutsu applies the umiton passive each post for the duration the target is trapped.

As a child Kaisui was often bullied and teased. The adults of the village would whisper as he walked through town. Certain shop owners wouldn't even let him in their stores. The children of his generation picked up on the way the adults acted and continued the cold behavior calling him freak and fish boy. It wasn't till he nearly drowned someone that they started to leave him alone out of fear. His father was especially cold to him. Pushing him harder as if he hoped he'd be worked to death. Though his father never out right said it, Kaisui knew the treatment was because of his mother. No matter how many times he tried asking him, his father would go into a rage and beat him, as if he had hit his reverse scale. There wasn't a single trace of her in the house, no pictures, no clothes, nothing to say that she'd ever existed. The only reason he knew he inherited his unusual traits from his mother was from his father's whispering of demon spawn and witches child.
During his academy days Kaisui would often skip class and sneak off to the beach. He'd never get to be there long before his father or hopefully teacher found him. If it was his teacher he'd just get dragged back to school and be given extra work. If his father caught him he'd get beat and put through one of his father's behavioral adjustment trainings. His time as a child and as a student just pushed his heart further from the village. He couldn't wait till he'd have the strength to escape.
It was during one of his trips to the beach that he discovered he could transform. The first time it happened he had been playing in the surf as a storm rolled in. a huge wave came up and sucked him into the undertow. Though he didn't fear drowning as he could breathe underwater, he wasn't strong enough to swim back to shore. As much as the Sea called to him he knew his father would find him and accuse him of trying to escape so he swam as hard as he could. He wasn't sure exactly how the transformation started but he had felt a slight tug in his gut and his skin began to crawl. As he pushed himself harder it began to get easier to swim against the pull of the waves and he started to get closer to shore. Although he was elated at first he noticed his skin looked weird. When he realized it was him he freaked out even more and swam harder towards the shore so he could get a better look. Oddly enough once he reached the shore he discovered he felt weaker and the fins on his arms had receded as his skin returned to its normal color. After a few more experiments he learned it was a part of him and it became his biggest secret and trump card.
As a genin Kaisui tried to apply for missions that had him near the beach helping the fishermen. How he envied them, having a life of fishing and sailing on the sea over a life of fighting and killing. The life he wanted for himself. He became friends with the local fisherman. Though It took him some time as the'd heard the rumors about the mutant with gills.They praised him on his balance while on a boat. Out on the boat far away from his father, helping the fisherman, he felt at home. He felt like he belonged. He wished he could just leave Kumo for this minor village and be a fisherman for the rest of his life. One of the fishermen in particular took him under his wing. The old fisherman taught him everything he knew about fishing. He taught him about using the rods and nets. He even taught the young salt style user how salt was used to preserve fish. Though he hated his real father, he loved the old man as though he was family. They had a bond of father and son despite no blood being shared.
On Ryōshi's birth day, he and his father were on a simple C-rank mission to protect the old man's boat as he fished. Kaisui had gone to fish with the old man which ticked his father off. His father yelled at him that this isn't the time for him to be slacking off and having fun. The old fisherman tried to talk the father into calming down and Ryōshi’s father shoved him back in his anger. The old man fell on a spear that was sticking out of a crate behind him. The spear went straight through puncturing the old man’s left lung. Kaisui ran to him and the old man gave him a paper. It was his will. The old man had no family and had come to view Kaisui as his own. He had left him his boat and what little money he had. His last words to Kaisui were "Happy Birthday son." Upon saying that the old man died passing away in his arms.
Kaisui slowly stood up away from the dead body of the one true father figure of his life shaking. He turned towards his father with a look of cold hatred and fury. His father reached for him to take him up to the village so they could report the incident. His father’s mistake was he didn’t realize Kaisui loved the old man so much. Although he himself was a virgin he still understood the man's intentions. in order to save the girl he used up the money he'd set aside for saving for a ship and bought the girl himself. He'd given the girl two options. One was to follow him as part of his crew or to go off on her own again. He gave her a few coins and told her to meet him outside of town if she chose to join him. He waited a day at the agreed spot and that night as he was roasting a fish He saw her slowly walk into his camp.

The two travelled alone for the longest time never staying in one place for too long. They'd had a few skirmishes with shinobi and it scared the living hell out of Kaisui. As such he spent more time training Umiko in combat arts. He refrained from teaching her jutsu as he didn't want her killed for learning to control chakra not being a member of a shinobi village. Instead, they constantly worked to improve her stealth techniques so she could slip away should she ever encounter trouble.

Ichiro was a young man from waterfall country, just like Umiko. Unfortunately their time together as a group was cut short as once again Kaisui had drawn the attention of shinobi. A strong fellow from Kirigakure who mercifully enough just wanted him out of Kiri. After trying to talk his way out Kaisui fled to the depths where he was almost obliterated by the shockwaves of an overwhelming attack. Knocked unconcious Kaisui drifted off into the sea only to be beached on a sandy shore after a storm some ways off.
At this point Kaisui cursed his blasted luck as a hunter from Kumogakure appeared. She seemed to want to use him though at the time he had no ide why or how. To make matters worse the strange half naked shinobi from Kiri once more made an appearance. As luck would have it, the Kiri shinobi brought baggage of his own and all three of them were captured. After a thrilling adventure and an uneasy truce Kaisui escaped with a new ship courtesy of a strange organization from which it was stolen. He struck a deal with the Kumogakure shinobi trading information on the world outside for a inside hand that would help him should he get in trouble. It wasn't great but it protected his autonomy.
He sailed to a meet up point where he picked up Ichiro and Umiko and brought them on board. Seeing a peaceful life wasn't likely to be possible Kaisui started considering the idea of piracy. He worked with Ichiro for a solid year to build him up and train him on manning a ship. Suddenly three years had passed since he'd first left the village. Shown a hard reality Kaisui developed a hard personality to cope. Now a young adult he's ready to leave his mark on the world.
