Sharp Mind D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline Prerequisite: 10 Instinct [Perception] concentration After many intensive hours of focus training, Mai has learned how to memorize a large amount of sensory information after being first exposed to it. Though the main application of this technique is to allow for Mai to memorize both the initial positioning of her opponents around the battlefield and any changes in those locations, this technique also has more uses outside of combat, such as remembering certain people, characteristics, locations, etc. Skillful Wield D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline Prerequisite: [Sword Weapons] Concentration With a solid foundation of knowledge on her choice of weaponry, Mai is able to utilize her weapon more fully. By knowing the weapon's weakest points, Mai is able to avoid presenting these areas to damage during combat, thus making her weapon less likely to break by means of recklessness. Seamless Skill D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline Prerequisite: [Sword Weapons] Concentration A skill utilized by Mai on the path to mastery of her weapon, users of Seamless Skill are actively able to transition between offensive and defensive usage of the aforementioned weapon. By transitioning so seamlessly, Mai is able to save a marginal amount of energy while attacking. |

Incoming C-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline Prerequisite: [Perception] Concentration Mai has attuned her hearing to subconsciously listen for the sound of things moving through the air and alert her when picked up. This allows her to hear and become alert of projectiles flying at her from a general location, even if she can’t see them. This technique does not work in enclosed areas where sounds can be distorted. |

IaidoShow
Iaido Kenjutsu:Iaido Kenjutsu is a sword style originating from the Land of Tea that focuses on the fact that when first drawn, the linear motion and force of pulling a katana from its sheath are able to generate unusually fast slashes. Iaido capitalizes on this, it's samurai equally skilled in close range hand-to-hand fighting and then being able to switch to single fast slashes and stabs before returning to previous combat, making them unpredictable fighters.

*[Iaido • Swift Draw] D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 5 Taijutsu, 8 Speed With the most widely recognized attack of Iaido style, Mai draws her katana at a very quick speed, making a powerful slash in tangent with the draw. This technique is dependent on the Mai’s overall reaction speed as it is usually only used when an opening presents itself or when Mai needs to draw her sword quickly. *[Iaido • Block] D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 8 Speed A technique developed out of need to protect herself from other weapon users, Block is simple in its use, but highly effective when used right. By partially drawing her sword, Mai is able to use the back of her blade to block incoming weapon attacks should she time it correctly. Mai must be careful when using this technique, should the attacker have a high enough strength, this technique could very well shatter Mai’s weapon. *[Iaido • Hilt Strike] D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 8 Speed A simple technique, Hilt Strike is designed for moments when the target is too close for Mai to fully draw her sword. Gripping her hilt in a downward dagger position, Mai will quickly draw her blade out as far as she can, and use the butt of the hilt to strike her target in an attempt to push them back and set them up for her other attacks. *[Iaido • Cutting The Eyes] D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 8 Speed A simple, yet very effective technique, Cutting The Eyes is a Line Draw aimed at the target's eyes. Mai attempts to horizontally slash the target's eyes in order to remove their eyesight. *[Iaido • Line Draw] D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 8 Speed The technique is recognized by its signature stance of one hand just below the opening of the katana sheath and the other firmly on the sword. Drawing the sword in one swift motion, Mai creates a horizontal or vertical slash in front of herself before sheathing the sword, often chaining these strikes together for greater effect. |
C-Rank | |
---|---|
*[Iaido • Beheading Draw] C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 15 Speed Mai draws her katana with one hand and slams her palm into the back of her blade to increase the force behind the swing made in any direction. This works with blunted side of a sword, but it can also draw out her strength and the blade's cutting power in full to quickly slash apart obstacles. Re-sheathing after this technique may take a bit longer; the placement of the hands following this technique make it difficult to re-sheath properly. *[Iaido • Clash Draw] C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 15 Speed, 10 Instinct In this technique, Mai assumes a firm stance and then draws herweapon in an upward arc. This sort of draw makes it easy to bat away projectiles moving at a Speed equal to or lower than Mai's Speed and Instinct stats. This also enables Mai to cut through advancing techniques or to clash with an opponent's weapon. This movement, however, may leave Mai without the ability to sheath her weapon for some time, limiting the effectiveness of her techniques until she can. *[Iaido • Reverse Line Draw] C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 8 Speed, 15 Taijutsu A modified version of the original Line Draw, Reverse Line Draw is designed for use when Mai only has the use of one hand. Rather than drawing the blade in the typical fashion, Mai will grip the hilt as she would when holding a sword so that the blade is pointing down. While the technique is the same as the original, the modified drawing requires an increase in skill to use. Mai still draws her blade in one swift motion, creating a vertical, or, horizontal slash in front of herself. Mai often waits to sheath her sword until they regain the use of her other hand. *[Iaido • Double Back Draw] C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 15 Speed The technique realizes the concept of a draw's momentum increasing attack speed rather than the technique of drawing itself. With this concept, Mai draws her weapon and then makes an upwards slash followed by a second downward slash, and then an immediate re-sheath. This causes two deep diagonal cuts in the direction of the draw and re-sheath that happen near instantaneously. *[Iaido • Snap Draw] C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver Prerequisite: 15 Taijutsu, 15 Speed With a honed body capable of producing torque within the user's muscles, Mai is capable of achieving a 'Blurred Sword' effect in an attack. Mai draws her sword with such speed and power that the strike itself is incredibly difficult to notice without a high amount of instinct. |

Niten IchiShow
Niten Ichi:Niten Ichi is a custom sword style being developed by Mai that focuses on using both the katana and wakizashi at the same time. Focusing on her greater speed than strength, Mai is developing a style that can be a whirlwind of sword strikes and counters to overwhelm any opponent.
Requires: [Sword], [Perception], and [Deft Hands] Concentrations
D-Rank [Niten Ichi • Ambidexterity]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 5 Instinct
After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of her hands with equal skill, Mai has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows her to utilize her preferred weaponry without any sort of issue. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.
[Niten Ichi • Parry Slash]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Utilizing the fact of having two weapons, Mai is able to perform a parry with her wakizashi while simultaneously slashing horizontally with the katana into her opponent's midsection. Mai is able to parry the strike if her (Strength+Speed)/2 is greater than or equal to her opponent's Strength.
[Niten Ichi • Dual Slash]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Attacking with both weapons at the same time, Mai throws her opponent off slightly and makes the attack harder to block as strikes come from different locations and angles. The opponent is thrown off guard if Mai's Strength is equal to or higher than her opponent's (Strength+Instinct)/2.
[Niten Ichi • Whirlwind Advance]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
With two weapons, and double the amount of strikes, as well as shorter blades than others, Mai will advance with every strike. This creates a tempo of advancement that is designed to wear down her opponent through ever pressing strikes, giving little chance for escape or recovery.
[Niten Ichi • Flowing Cut]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
A simple sword technique, this allows Mai to quickly alter the direction of her blade or her opponent's mid-cut with the help of her other. This can be used to work around a block, or simply to act as a powerful feint and strike all in the same motion without stopping. Either way, this makes Mai incredibly unpredictable in a fight.
C-Rank [Niten Ichi • Double Sword Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 10 Speed, 10 Instinct, 15 Taijutsu
Expanding upon [Reverse Line Draw], Mai has learned how to draw both of her swords at once while attacking with both in the draw. Holding each hilt as she would while wielding them, Mai will draw each weapon in a different arc attacking with a horizontal strike from each weapon.

An Onna-bugeisha's Tale((Warning Mature Content and Possible Tri…Show
((Warning. Contains Mature Content. Possible Trigger Warning.))
Maiko was born in the Land of Tea sixteen years ago. She's only known her mother, a beautiful courtesan who was well known throughout the Land of Tea and Fire. However, Mai's father was no highborn; he was a nomad travelling far from his clan. A man whom Mai has never met, and her mother speaks little of, besides his gentle nature, kind words, and peaceful ways. The burden of not knowing her father did spark a wanderlust in Mai, a desire to see the world just as her father did, and to eventually find and meet him. Mai's mother never dampened her daughter's dream, but did caution her daughter that not everything a woman wills comes true.
Growing up was peaceful for Mai. She lived a comfortable life though her childhood thanks to her mother's income. Unlike her mother's gentle life of luxury, Mai took an interest in kenjutsu, and with her mother's blessing, began training at the local Iaido dojo from a young age and was called a prodigy by her sensei at the delight of her mother. Mai's mother always attended her matches, gleefully cheering for her daughter against the other boys, and she could be heard over all others when her daughter would win a bout. Despite a lack of a father, love was not missing from Mai's life and she grew up safely and healthily.
Everything changed when Mai was fifteen. Close to becoming an adult, Mai was learning from her mother to follow in her footsteps, learning proper etiquette and mannerisms for the rich and powerful, as well as proper ways to dress. It wasn't Mai's dream, but it was a peaceful life and a good one at that. However, one night returning from the dojo, Mai was attacked. A group of rowdy men who had traveled into the village only a few days prior had enjoyed their drink too much. Mai found one of them in an alley, where he was violently ill, spewing the contents of his stomach all over the wall and earth. Stepping up to help, Mai was shown the true evils of man as she stepped forward to help the sick man. At first, he was kind, Mai helped him to his feet and wiped his mouth clean, but that facade ended. Once he was feeling better and without so much as a breath of warning he grabbed and violently assaulted Mai, leaving her against the wall in the vomit riddled alley. Mai was found there crying by her sensei, her clothes ruined and her body bruised and violated. At first she screamed and tried to run from her sensei, afraid to allow another man close to her, but patiently and kindly the old samurai waited until Mai gathered herself enough to return with him to the dojo. Sending for Mai's mother, Mai's sensei waited until she arrived and stepped out of the dojo. Mai's mother comforted her daughter as well she could, cleaning and dressing her physical wounds and body, but she knew the psychological trauma would torment Mai much longer.
At dawn. Mai's sensei returned and escorted Mai and her mother home. On the way, Mai noticed her assailant was being paraded through the town in shackles. Stopping, she watched as the man was led to the town square and one of the Land of Tea samurai beheaded him. Afterwards, Mai's mother presented Mai with the only gift the young woman has accepted, her father's daisho, that he gave as a present to Mai's mother.
Once healed, Mai said farewell to her mother and sensei, gathering her belongings and seeing out into the world. She would not allow herself to be preyed upon, and the thought of entertaining a man as her mother did disgusted her now. She would seek ways to grow stronger, and she would see to evil men earning the fate they deserved.
