Yamamoto, Akahana

[Nindo]

General Information Age: 20
Gender: Female
Height: 1.79 metres/5’9 feet
Weight: 65.9 kgs.
Physical Features:
  • Face/head: Her long white and black hair is either tied up into a warrior's ponytail or left free, depending upon what she is doing that day. As for her face, it is very...flawless. Clean, well kept, devoid of blemishes. It's almost unnatural just how "perfect" her face is, or at the very least that is the outside impression it creates. Lastly there’s her emerald green eyes, undulled by age nor lacking the lustre of youth.
  • Body: As one may expect from her age, Yamamoto’s form could best be described as developed. Deceptively muscular arms, well-built legs and a surprisingly feminine appearance but given the outward persona she puts on, that is as much a conscious fashion choice as it is genetics. To get down into the nitty gritty details, she stands at 1.79 metres (5'9 for the imperial users out there.) and comes in at around 65.9 kilograms.
  • Notable Features:The three black segments of her hair, akin to elongated diamonds, decorating her hair are entirely natural. She is unsure of why given her inability to question her parents but there you have it.
Clothing/Accessories: Most of the time, Yamamoto wears outfits in line with the impression she puts on and so, it’s a lot of Kimonos or other equally old fashioned style clothing. She wants to seem like this delicate and gentle flower hence why she often dresses so softly. Gentle pastel colours, flowery accessories and hair tied into buns or ponytails. Yet, she does have more…practical clothing, often consisting of simple shirts, paired with plain skinny fit trousers and a jacket for when the need calls.

Personality:
  • General: Polite, elegant, ladylike. A true exemplar of what a perfect mistress of the house should be. Her conduct is always perfect, her behaviour implacable, her personality affable and friendly. One of her greatest pastimes is to converse over tea, sharing experiences under the soft glow of a tea house’s lights as one calmly observes the setting sun. To put it simply, on the outside she is a perfect wife, refined and diligent.

As part of this elegant lady persona she is a highly gifted conversationalist and speaker, able to efficiently and elegantly communicate without needing to dance around the matter or risking offence. In fact, her ability to speak and communicate is one of her deadliest weapons. Words have power and her’s immensely so. She may restrain her tongue, but it can strike like a viper at will.

As one might expect, her outward house mistress persona extends beyond being a mere character. She has the skills to back it up. Organisation, administration, the governing of finance, housework and all those other things responsible necessary to effectively run a house. These are things she has a great deal of experience with due to living alone and needing to look after her residence accordingly.

The persona of this perfect housewife is, as should be clear by now, only a persona. In truth? Yamamoto is rather driven, motivated to reach the Void of true mastery. Her parents died when she was very young, leaving behind only one thing: her ideaology. Due to this being the one thing, the only thing, that was the only constant in her life while growing up and what happens when you grew up with the idea that the only thing you felt you owned was your ideaology? Then yeah, you tend to fully embrace it no matter the cost...

This obsession, developed over many years, still grips her innermost heart and because of this she is a borderline blood knight. Cold, emotionally distant and detached from mortal affairs. She would cut you down without mercy if you challenged her and would enjoy it all the while. Things like morals, justice, good and evil...to Yamamoto they are worthless things, fit only to be cut away. In fact, her views on morals and justice are important to mention as well.

In her world? She cares not for the laws of her world, or even her own nation, only conforming to them for her own benefit. It is simply easier for her to survive if she makes certain concessions to the state; however, the moment doing so becomes a detriment to her goals she will cut it away. All Yamamoto does is cut. People, concepts, her own mortality. Anything and everything between her and the mastery she is pursuing will be cut away. What else can a sword do after all?

Now, in order to elaborate on Yamamoto's motivation and the true implications of it we need to explore it in greater detail by answering one question: what is the "Void of Mastery"? Simply put, it is a metaphorical level of skill where nothing at all exists. However, if it is a sheer void where nothing exists how can it be the pinnacle of skill she is aiming for? Simple: if zero is the concept that gives meaning to all other numbers then reaching this zero indicates you are simply beyond them.

One last detail to mention is that, despite having a residence within the border regions of the Land of the Tiger’s southern plateau, Yamamoto feels no strong connection to her land of birth. As such, she travels the world, seeking out greater strength and greater masters to learn from then surpass. She is truly the epitome of the wandering warrior..and on that note, she has a penchant for playing the flute. It’s the closest thing to artistic expressionism she has ever gotten.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Reaching the “Void of Mastery” detailed above.
  • Fears: Fears are…something Yamamoto does not have. She can still feel the emotion mind you, but she has no inherent triggers for it…yet. Yet is the key word here.
  • Combat Mentality:Refinement. Elegance. Efficiency. Yamamoto believes in the idea of the quick strike, making sure she strikes fast and strikes hard, cutting down the opponent before they can even react. However, she is by no means one to remain locked into a single mindset. In fact, her true combat mentality is being flexible. She’s got an innate ability to analyse and break down an opponent’s style, altering her own style and move set to best respond to it. It's why she is trained in such a variety of weapons and techniques.

    Yoshin KenjutsuShow
    Yoshin Kenjutsu:
Waterfall Country's samurai are the creators of Yoshin, a style of Kenjutsu honing one's precision to strike more precisely than any needle or arrow at the enemy's inherent weaknesses. The human body is full of natural weak spots and vulnerabilities, and Yoshin takes full advantage of those weaknesses in combat with calculated, precise, intelligent strikes and thrusts to cripple and cut down their opponent. Common joints, unseen nerve endings and nerve clusters, critical tendons and muscle groups, and even vital organs are all fair game to the users of Yoshin. The precision required for this style causes most users of its techniques to prefer short blades such as kodachi and wakizashi, often with serrated edges to maximise damage on the blade exiting the wound, though katana can still be used with this style.

Requires: [Deft Hands], [Sword Weapons], [Medicine] Concentrations.
    Concentrations[/i][/center][/quote]
    disciplinesShow
    *[Yoshin • Prey's Anatomy]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Detailed knowledge of the human body's vulnerabilities and weaknesses are fundamental to learning Yoshin. This Discipline represents the practitioner's knowledge of the precise location of all major organs, tendons, blood vessels, and nerve clusters on both their body and the opponent's body. This allows the practitioner to accurately target those areas even in the heat of combat.

    *[Yoshin • Ambidexterity]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After practising for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilise both hands equally and as effectively without any penalty. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.
    stancesShow
    manoeuvresShow
    *[Yoshin • Hidden Trap]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
After taking the opponent's side either offensively or after evading an attack, the practitioner draws a quick, firm slash across the opponent's side, such as their oblique, rib cage, or arm. The attack is intended to both injure and startle the opponent, often used to disrupt an opponent's attack or sequence of attacks with the severity of the damage. A unique attack within Yoshin, this particular technique is meant to dig as deeply into the opponent and create cuts as wide as possible, many times slashing into bones to cause as much long term damage as possible. The depth and width of the cut can also cause serious blood loss over time. Opponents with an Rigid Structure technique of equal or higher rank can limit the amount of damage this technique causes.

    *[Yoshin • Track the Prey]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
A somewhat risky technique, the practitioner steps in aggressively for a split moment as a feint. The offensive nature of this feint is meant to prompt the opponent to reflexively block or dodge. The practitioner then follows this dodge and attacks the opponent with a slash or thrust, typically targeting a specific tendon, organ, joint, or nerve cluster.

    *[Yoshin • Break the Antlers]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
With a very quick snapping slash or thrust, the practitioner attacks the back of the opponent's weapon-wielding hand or hands. Opponents hit by this technique must have an Endurance equal to or higher than the practitioner's Speed to avoid being disarmed or losing the use of the affected hand until the end of their next post. This technique is only useful for short term debilitation of the hands and cannot cause any significant long term damage on its own.

    *[Yoshin • Whip Snare]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
Forgoing the typical practice of aiming one's blows to do the most critical damage possible, the practitioner instead lashes out at the opponent with a quick snapping slash or thrust. If the attack lands, the practitioner curves and angles the edge of their blade along the cut, making a shallower, irregular cut. While these cuts rarely cause any serious damage on their own, the nature of the cut not only makes them difficult to mend or stitch, they also contribute to significant blood loss over time and are incredibly painful for the opponent. This can make moving and executing techniques more difficult for an opponent hit by this technique unless they have an Endurance equal to or higher than the practitioner's Speed.
    Kushou-Ryu SoujutsuShow
    Kushou-Ryu Soujutsu:
Kushou-Ryu Soujutsu, or spear techniques, are a collection of Taijutsu techniques focussed around the use of polearms. The techniques can be used interchangeably for users of spears, staves, glaives and similar weapons. These techniques were developed by the military of the Holy City of Towers, rumoured to have been passed from the Holy Mother herself to the males of her land centuries ago. Those who wish to learn the secret techniques of the style must travel there and convince them to teach them. The style itself revolves around keeping the user’s weapon and body moving in order to manoeuvre around an opponent’s guard, or beat their way through it. Requires: [Polearm Weapons] and [Deft Hands].

    * Kushou・Low Wind Rising
    D-Ranked Taijutsu Stance
The foundational stance of the Kushou style, Low Wind Rising involves the spinning of the user’s spear or polearm around their body constantly whilst remaining in motion. While in this stance, the user will be able to deflect projectiles with less strength than their own, while also making unpredictable movements of their spear.
    manoeuvresShow
    * Kushou・The Viper Flicks its Tongue
    D-Ranked Taijutsu Manoeuvre
This simple technique involves thrusting quickly with the user’s long weapon from a distance before quickly pulling back their polearm to prevent counters. This techniques most useful aspect is that it can be used while in motion without affecting speed or momentum.
    * Kushou・The Courtier Taps his Fan
    D-Ranked Taijutsu Manoeuvre
This simple technique involves proper use of the pole of the user’s weapon to deflect blows. By properly angling and manoeuvring their spear or staff they can deflect other like weapons, hand to hand blows or even sword blows by striking the right place at the right time, even while in motion.
    * Kushou・Parting the Silk
    D-Ranked Taijutsu Manoeuvre
    Prerequisite: * Kushou・Low Wind Rising
This simple technique involves engaging an opponent’s weapon or one of their arms and moving it slightly to one side with the user’s weapon. This creates a very small opening which the user then exploits by kicking the opponent, keeping their weapon guarding the opponent’s arms.
    * Kushou・The Swallow Takes Flight
    D-Ranked Taijutsu Manoeuvre
The user will vault themselves into the air using their polearm and then unleash a powerful blow from above. This technique is used to disorient and surprise foes as well as overpower them as it strikes with all of the user’s body weight and momentum from the spin they perform in the air in order to strike with the spear that was touching the ground moments before.

    History
    Historical AccountsShow
Yamamoto was born to two migrants, wandering warriors from Waterfall Country (on the part of her mother) and the Holy City of Towers on the part of her father. War brought them together, war and needing to flee from their respective homelands due to their own personal issues. At first, they encounter each other on the battlefield, selling their services out to the Land of Tiger’s leaders, trading their own skills in return for wealth and a roof over their heads.

However, eventually the two of them fell in love, following a night where they were mistaken as enemies of their employers, forced to work together in order to survive the Night of A Hundred Wolves. It was a chaotic and turbuluant time, with people pointing fingers, accusations of betrayal and murder flying around, as one might expect from the night of a coup. It did make sense that the foreigners, both of whom were known as mercenaries who sold their services to the highest bidder, would come under suspicion. It was only after the coup was resolved that they managed to go to ground, posing as civilians in some distant remote border village.

At first, Yamamoto’s parents simply worked together, watching each other's backs, keeping their heads above water as the instability from the coup but as the years rolled on by, they did actually fall in love, eventually having a daughter together. This daughter was, as you guessed it, Yamamoto. However, her parents knew the world was a dangerous place and so they taught her their skills as well as the fundamentals of chakra manipulation; not that she really took to anything except Taijutsu despite technically being capable of ninjutsu and genjutsu.

However, the training her parents installed in her perhaps got taken the wrong way. Yamamoto considers herself a mere weapon who can only cut things away, having long been taught by both of her parents that a shinobi and samurai could simply only kill or cut things away. This attitude sunk in despite her parents trying their absolute best to install nothing inside of Yamamoto except the facts. This is one of the reasons she is so very…hollow on the inside.

Yet, despite her parents trying to live a peaceful life, their pasts and perhaps the nature of the world in general did eventually catch up to them. At age sixteen they were slain, a misunderstanding occurring between themselves and the Land of Tiger’s military forces. Her parents did try to peacefully resolve the situation but they, out of a desire to protect their daughter, were forced to simply surrender. Yamamoto never saw them again and since that day has simply had only her skills to rely on.

Since that day, Yamamoto has simply focused on honing her skills, only recently deciding to make forays away from her homeland to explore the wider world, all born from a desire to seek greater mastery, to reach this Void of Mastery firmly lodged within her psyche.
