Mamoru Gerudo's childhood was defined by the absence of his father and the resilience of his mother, Mari. Born just before the outbreak of a great war, Mamoru's early years were overshadowed by the conflict that ravaged the lands. His father, Zakuro Gerudo, was a renowned shinobi in Konoha, the hidden leaf village, and his duties kept him away from home for extended periods.
While Zakuro fought on the front lines, Mamoru and Mari resided in a modest home within Fire Country, where Mari's noble family had deep roots. Despite the dangers that loomed outside, Mari was determined to maintain a semblance of normalcy and stability for her young son. She instilled in Mamoru what values she could, but despite being of noble lineage, times were hard in this war torn world. She spent most of her time working, leaving Mamoru alone for hours at a time.
Throughout the war, Zakuro managed to visit Mamoru and Mari whenever he could. Each time he saw them, he urged Mari to move to the safety of Konoha's fortified walls. Recognizing the imminent danger, Zakuro pleaded with his wife to safeguard their family within the confines of the hidden village. However, Mari, deeply rooted in her noble lineage, remained steadfast in her commitment to her ancestral home, believing that they could weather the storm together.
Fire Country eventually fell victim to the invading forces, and destruction permeated the once peaceful land. However, Mamoru and Mari managed to escape the worst of the devastation, thanks to Mari's foresight and their shared determination to survive. They sought refuge in a hidden enclave, relying on their resourcefulness and the support of other resilient survivors.
As the tides of war shifted and the brave shinobi of Konoha fought back, Fire Country was eventually liberated. The war came to a close, changing the landscape of the world forever. This was a time of relief for Mamoru and Mari, as it meant Zakuro’s return and the start of a stable life and family. Their dreams would be crushed however. Zakuro visited the two of them, telling stories of unrest beginning on the borders of Sunagakure. Mari exploded with anger at Zakuro at the thought of seeing him leave to fight another war. Mamoru cried and tried to hold him back from leaving. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to stop the steadfast shinobi from doing his duty, and that was the last time either of them would see Zakuro.
