Physical Features: Disciplined in both body and mind as a young boy Gene's physical appearance reflects that of an athlete, a martial artist to be more specific. His muscles are solid and stature firm though he only stands at about five foot & seven inches.
  • Face/head: Gene's face is characterized as being what one might call "perfect" in the sense that there are no discernible deformities in the skull structure. While it is said that he is relatively good looking there are few who have actually seen his face due to the fact that he has taken to wearing a black mask that covers the lower half of his face (mouth, cheeks, lower jaw and nose up to the bridge) at all times when in public save for moments where he needs to eat.

    Moreover, an unintended consequence of donning the mask is that his eyes tend stand out due to their unnatural and vibrant color. Gene's eyes are of an Auburn hue that when combined with his many eyebrow movements or lack thereof, offer a variety of different tones to his expressions.
  • Body: Gene's body is riddled with various scars from training and numerous close encounters with particularly skilled opponents. One scar in particular, a healed acid burn on his stomach, is the largest of and most notable representation of this. His left hand(back) also has a healed scar both in the middle of his thumb and where the ring finger and pinky connect leading to the outer section of his hand where he was cut open by a Kunai knife, A fact that has led to him wearing gloves when out and about.
  • Notable Features:Aside from his eyes the most noticeable feature about Gene would have to be his hair. Whether bound back with his Forehead protector or allowed to breath naturally, Gene's hair is often wildly styled which is made even more notable due to the fact that his hair color typically ranges from almost completely white to a healthy silver.

Outfit #1:
Beginning from top to bottom, Gene sports a white scarf that is wrapped securely around his neck - in active mission scenarios the scarf acts as a means to shield his identity as well as protect him from the elements(weather). Crafted of the finest materials of the region and tempered to sustain abuse, the Scarf isn't just a fashion accessory and its value to Gene extends beyond the surface; one of few artifacts left by his late mother before her passing he almost never take it off (save to wash it etc). Gene also wears a lightly-armored light grey flak vest that does not seem to have any noticeable pockets or pouches of which to place items. However, near the shoulders and around the chest cavity area the padding is 3 1/2 inches thick providing extra protection against weaponry(30 durability). If he were to remove the Flak vest for any reason then the long sleeved black carbon fiber thermal sweat shirt designed to keep him warm in colder temperatures, cool in hotter climates, dry in wet environments and comfortable overall. Despite being a simple shirt in appearance, the fabric is tempered quite well and provides 20 durability and some resistance to abuse.

Steel plated Wrist Guards: Found on either wrist, Gene has taken to wearing a black carbon fiber band with steel plating designed into the material in order to protect his wrists. Each plate is double layered and shaped in such a way that pointed weapons would be more prone to glide off its surface as opposed to ripping through you know - flesh. Built for protection, the wrist guards have a durability of 30 each.

Below the Torso Gene sports black Hakama pants composed of roughly the same material as the thermal undershirt but with slightly thicker composition. Custom tailored to him by the finest craftsmen(and women) in the family, efficiency and comfort are two concepts that were nailed in their conception. Just six inches below the knee, the pants legs are wrapped tightly by white bandages and secured so that the risk of being caught on something, tripping, making noise, etc. etc. Is completely minimized to moot.

Footwear: Unlike the standard sandals found in Hi no Kuni, Gene's are noticeably different in that there is a quarter of an inch thick layer of protection around the base of the foot protecting where the major arteries and veins of the foot would be. There is also tremendous support around the ankle lessening the chance of sprains,fractures and so forth by way of accidental improper limb placement.
Outfit #2:
A "modified" variant of outfit #1, Gene still wears the black Hakama pants and long sleeved black undershirt from the first outfit. However, he no longer wears the flak vest substituting it instead for a brownish-green long sleeved shirt that is kept closed by a white sash (obi), essentially completing what would be considered a Gi style dress as the Hakama are still wrapped and bound at the upper calf down in a traditional fashion. Affixed to his upper shoulder down to the end of his bicep are an array of plated metal guards which offer similar protection as his wrist guards and besides the wrist guards seems to be the only variant of protection that Gene wears with this uniform.

Worn over his shirt Gene sports a deep sea blue sleeveless high collared haori which remains open in the front in addition to a same colored blue scarf that is tied around his neck in substitute of the white one worn in outfit #1.

Personality: While seldom being found among social scenarios due to the nature of his work, on the rare occurrence that he appears publicly Gene may best be described as Taciturn. His presence is best comparable to that of an immovable mountain or perhaps, the mythical dragons of old. For he cannot be provoked or compelled toward any one emotion easily though many have tried. Observant by nature, his eyes and ears drink in all as if to be driven by child like fascination - striving to learn that which can be learned and then to understand and apply that knowledge. Whether due to his Strict adherence to the Shinobi ethos or a deep rooted need to enrich his own knowledge, Gene has adapted an entirely pragmatic way of thinking though is not above an occasional theory if it is grounded in logic. Known to discuss tactics and other such practical strategies with those who have earned his trust, Gene is considered a strategist by many. However, because of this method of processing things - he has developed a character flaw of not being able to understand things not dealing in logic or some kind of reasonable foundation; emotional matters and moments of weakness due to emotional distress are foreign concepts to him, often leading to disagreements among some of his more liberal peers and superiors.

Despite this, he is fiercely loyal to those who have earned his respect and trust and especially to the village suggesting that his will of fire may be no different than those who he argues with.
  • General: Generally speaking, Gene is fairly easy going. He abides by the core principles of his profession and as such, there are few things able to really get under his skin. However, that's not to say he doesn't have his limits; those who disrespect his will of fire, comrades or generally the things that he cares about will find themselves on his bad side much quicker than than they think.

    It's tough to discern exactly what he's thinking & as such, many people remark that it's difficult to understand exactly the kind of person that Gene is and therefore tend to be uncomfortable around him as he can be "unpredictable" though those fortunate enough to really befriend Gene will find that he is both kind and empathetic, willing to go above and beyond to help them out. However, he is both a realist and a minimalist at heart which are two traits that don't always align with the interests of others; specifically those who would prefer one extreme over the other without any real consideration of the possible implications, those who are swayed by emotions and those prone to going against what makes sense. In short, Gene could be considered practical at his best and outright defiant at his worst.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Gene dreams of bringing those who have wronged the village and who would continue to bring about calamity to the world, to justice. Whether that be by imprisoning them or exterminating them by way of capital punishment. Additionally, in regard to lesser criminals specifically, Gene wishes to implement a reform system where small crimes may be pardoned in exchange for life time service to the country. In recent years he has come to realize that all who abandon the village have not lost their way but are simply lost for the moment - lacking in guidance. While not naive enough to believe that his dream will change the life and circumstance or punishment of every fugitive, he believes that those who allow themselves to be helped can be.

    Aside from the goals of his ninja career, Gene hopes one day to become a best selling Author. Traveling around the world bringing joy and unity with his art rather than meeting the populace with cold steel and iron.
  • Fears: Gene's fear is one that many who've chosen the path of a Shinobi have considered; the notion of having to bare arms against any who he'd once considered friend or an ally because it was his mission, or perhaps losing his own ninja way and becoming a slave to the evil forces that naturally work to balance the good in his heart.
  • Combat Mentality: In recent time Gene has developed himself to the point of being able to contest with the best and worst of adversaries on most any field of battle. Trained in most weaponry and hand to hand, he may go blow for blow with the most skilled of Taijutsu practitioners while giving many ninjutsu experts a run for their money. Adequate in the art of Genjutsu; by his own admission, the Jounin would prefer to avoid run ins with those so proficient as to be referred to as specialists in the art. Capable enough to free himself should the need arise, Gene is not yet a formidable Genjutsu user and favors the swift battle where such tactics cannot be used against him.

Tanto Sheath (Located on Gene's upper back near his left shoulder:
Taishoku or "severance," is a Tanto dagger that has been passed down within the Mitsurugi Household to the first born son for many generations upon reaching the rank of Chunin. Possession of this weapon all but stamps the current Mitsurugi family member as next in line to carry on a lineage while demonstrating that they are able to withstand the rigorous challenges associated with being a Shinobi.

From Pommel to edge tip the Tanto is 13 inches long; 4.5' inches belonging to the handle (Guard,grip & pommel respectively) and the remaining 8.5 inches belonging to an obsidian double edged steel blade. All parts of the weapon to include the handle have been chakra tempered, designed to withstand abuse and its obsidian model has ensured that the weapon does not stick out on night operations or reflect light during the day.

Ankan's Greaves:
These shin guards of black steel have been famed throughout history for their use by the great monk Minkai and have found their place rightfully on Gene's Shin's in addition to his standard outfits. The greaves are rumored to have been created by a great evil, due to their torturous effect. Each time the greaves touch a person's flesh, it breaks it down and dissolves it like an acid. This process is extremely painful, and will burn away an inch of flesh each post/brief touch that the contact occurs over. This will also melt away bone. The burns are measured off the opponents strength, those with less than 25 strength receive 2 degree of burn per contact (2nd degree burn on 1st contact, 4th degree on second contact), while those with 25+ strength receive 1 degree of burn per contact.

Abilities
First Ability:
KyokuganShow

The Kyokugan, or Logical Eye, grants it's bearers a form of sight that most could only dream of. When activated, chakra is sent through the optic nerve. The doujutsu gives the user the ability to perceive the composite nature of chakra, allowing him to instantly recognize: when an object has chakra in it or doesn't (even recognizing clones against the real thing), and what type of chakras as effective, or weak against the chakra of what he's looking at. This also allows the user to understand if anything they look at is composed of chakra, or naturally composed (fireball made from an explosion, vs made of youton chakra, vs made of katon chakra vs from a volcano).

The adaptive insight of the doujutsu has a secondary effect of allowing the user to recognize fingerprints and footprints, and recollect them with extreme accuracy, able to remember any finger/footprint they've seen in the past, drastically improving the tracking capabilities of the wielder.

The doujutsu can be identified by its distinctive blood red appearance as patterns and strange monolithic like symbols swirl around the pupil and three bar like lines that intersect where the pupil rests in the eye.

Prolonged usage of the Kyokugan is strenuous and requires a high level of endurance. The maximum operating time a user can utilize their Kyokugan at a time is equal to their Control stat divided by 4 rounded down, to a minimum of one post. Upon reaching the max duration, the stress of using their Kyokugan to it’s limit causes a cool-down period of 1/2 of the duration time, to a minimum of one post. During this cooldown period, the Kyokugan cannot be activated and attempting to do so will cause physical pain. Duration is based off total posts where the Kyokugan is activated, meaning users can turn it on and off to have a shorter cooldown.

Ghost Chakra:
Born with a rare genetic abnormality, Gene's chakra for reasons beyond his understanding, cannot be detected by Sensory techniques. This is to include Ninjutsu jutsu bred of Mind's eye & Empathy and other forms of chakra based sensory effectively making him a "Ghost" in that while he may still be sensed by smell, sight, physical touch, hearing and even tasted - if one were to attempt to "Sense" him out using the 6th sense of Sensory, nothing would register. This extends to All Jutsu used by him as they follow the same unique chakra property.

A character with this concentration is able to utilize katon and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the katon affinity. Katon has an ignition effect.

Sensors are shinobi who are able to activate a sixth sense which can locate and read chakra sources. Sensory is advantageous as it allows shinobi to perceive without using any of their conventional senses, which can easily be deceived. Sensors are able to collect a lot of information through the interpretation of this sixth sense.
Iijutsu:
Iijutsu
This concentration allows for the user to user chakra to affect the biological processes of a living creature. This includes modifying, speeding up, or slowing down the biological processes. Iijutsu is known for it's advanced nature and requires precise chakra control to work effectively. It can be differentiate from normal techniques by the faint light green colour of the chakra used in Iijutsu techniques.
Raiton Affinity:
Raiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Raiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Raiton affinity. Raiton has a shocking effect.

Raiton has the effect of shocking, which means causes it's effect to be diffuse upon impact. In organic material, this causes nervous stimulation which results in numbness, tingling, loss of sensation, and sometimes paralysis. In inorganic material, this means that the strength of the jutsu diffuses across an area 2x the size of the attack. In a jutsu that creates a lightning ball 2m in diameter, if it struck a wall the size of the attack would cover a 4m area.

Additionally, the strength of the nervous effect on organic material from raiton jutsu is determined by the ninjutsu stat requirement.

Gene's personal realm assumes the appearance of a great and extensive white void where particles of the cosmos may be noted floating about in aimless abandon. Included in this strange realm is a single door that may be used as an exit back into regular time space should the architect wish to do so.

While in this realm, Gene is not subject to the cool down periods typically associated with Jikukan jutsu however for each person additional to himself that enters the realm, he will be charged chakra.

This user has superb chakra control, and has learned to perform jutsu by channeling, without the use of hand seals. The user can channel any Elemental Ninjutsu that is designed to be channel, and there are no specified parameters in which a jutsu must fall to be channeled by this method.

The fundamental skill of [Corded Weapons] indicates the user’s proficiency with long rope-like weapons such as chains and wire. This facilitates their use of related Taijutsu.
Rigid Structure:
The fundamental skill of [Rigid Structure] describes the user’s ability to adeptly position and lock in their skeletal structure to efficiently absorb blows with minimal damage to their person. This facilitates their use of related Taijutsu.
Deft Hands:
The fundamental skill of [Deft Hands] indicates the user’s proficiency with using their hands in very specific and complex movements, like sleight of hand and targeting very small and specific points on an opponent’s body. This facilitates their use of related Taijutsu in various ways.

This user has learn to use sound cues to initiate genjutsu. Allowing them to create sounds and sustain sounds to capture their targets in a genjutsu.

This user has learned to use visual cues to initiate genjutsu. Allowing them to perform actions, or draw the eyes to something to capture their targets in a genjutsu.

History
Gene's story so farShow
Born to a regular family within Hi no Kuni and corresponding village, Konohagakure no Sato; Gene had a relatively simple upbringing due to the fact that for better or worse, his parents were great Shinobi. Unfortunately he hadn't exactly shared their enthusiasm about becoming a ninja and would have much rather spent his time daydreaming or watching birds fly by - but, as with a lot of things in life sometimes you had to make sacrifices. Gene's "Sacrifices" started when he was only about five and his father more than anyone else in the family, began pushing Gene toward working for a future. Not for the family but rather for himself seeing as how one day the lad would be out on his own fending for himself. Now it was pretty evident that such an outcome wouldn't be for a long ways down the line but - the old man did have a point. And boy did Gene hate it when his old man made sense...there just wasn't any real way around it.

So with that goal in mind, Gene, his father, mother, and Grandparents all embarked on a long road to shaping the lad up for future life as a ninja. Training and studying on top of a strict diet and bedtimes - what wasn't to like ? Day in and day out it'd been about the same stuff over and over until the lad had come to discover that he'd actually been retaining the information - no really, it was crazy. Somewhere between the lectures and pointless (in his mind) exercises all this stuff had been beginning to make sense...and then, it got a little fun. By the time he'd hit the age of six Gene had been pretty much groomed for the academy and all it had to offer plus a little bit more. Sadly, he had other plans in store for the school.

Each day had pretty much gone how he'd imagined. They showed up, did a bit of talking and then the lectures began. By the time noon had hit Gene was ready to throw himself through a window and make for the nearest river to go dump himself - but of course, that wouldn't have made his family proud nor would it have been wise in his case. So like a sponge to water, he soaked up what he could and tried to slip in the occasional nap during those cumbersome lectures where possible; though usually the Chunin instructor caught wind of it and well, let's just say Gene had several rude awakenings. Despite the shenanigans his grades never dropped below a B in any given subject but the instructors could tell early on that he wasn't going to be the stand-out type. In comparison to some of his classmates who made it their personal goal to outshine everybody in everything, Gene only wanted to do just enough to both pass and keep his parents off his back. This would continue throughout his Academy experience up until the age of eleven where he'd briefly met Taiga.


Admittedly, during the final year of the program Gene buckled down and hit the books - hard. He wanted to at least have an educational advantage over some of the more gung-ho of the bunch by the time of graduation though ultimately, he figured out (with the help of watching his father around the house) that the brain was the most important tool that any ninja could have. It didn't matter how fancy your Shuriken technique looked if you weren't smart enough to recognize that the target being aimed at was nothing more than a decoy. That said, Gene's test scores and overall mindset reflected that of a tactician early on but the lack of drive to do much of anything continued to be the problem. In the end? He'd just barely managed to graduate.

Kept under wraps for his own benefit, Gene hadn't mentioned the fact that his Grandparents taught him how to control his chakra and mold it into an elemental affinity. It was for the best considering that if his overzealous mother found out there'd be quite a bit of a commotion. Fresh out of the Academy and lacking in any real significant backstory, Gene would seek to make his mark in the village in a different way. But first, he'd have to prove that he was a worthy Genin first. With average skills and some standard Shinobi training combined with an easily above average mindset, his road in end of itself already looked like it'd be something crazy.

Three years have past & since then, Gene has developed his mind, body & spirit into a more mature version of his former self. Tearing free of the shell that had once confined him he has forged ahead valiantly forming new bonds and friendships all throughout the village. From times of great unrest during an unexpected invasion to the current era of relative peace in its aftermath, Gene has proven himself a worthy Shinobi time and time again. What had once started off as an absurd moniker is now known to ring bells in the Hidden Leaf Village: Gene the Absent one, once a inexperienced Genin, now an esteemed Chunin of the village & member of Mamorinuku - Konoha's first response unit. With his comrades at his side, Gene continues to impress & has since vowed to bring those who brought destruction to his home land to justice.

"Tragedy after tragedy" seems to be the best way to describe life after promotion for Gene. From spoiled friendships to dealing with the loss of loved ones; the boy's senesce experience has opened a new door for him, one that has withered away at his old innocence and put in its place a hardened and bitter outlook on his chosen profession. Rarely found among the old Genin circle of his graduating class Gene has taken more to the higher ups in preparation for the next level; assignments with a greater risk factor than average, less time around the village & eventually a promotion even if it were just for the name sake. All in all, more than anything in the world, more than his title as a ninja, even more than perhaps the village of Konoha, Gene's journey to find himself has officially begun.

Those who did not know before of the Cloud Gazer , now hear tales of his exploits throughout Fire country as Gene continues to leave his mark by doing what it is that he does best - helping others. From being a hired bodyguard to infiltrating behind enemy lines and everything in between, Gene seems to be the go-to guy for just about any challenging task one can think of. Recognizing this, those of the council as well as the Head Shinobi in charge saw fit to promote Gene even higher up the ranking chain - but not without some apprehension. Despite his ability to adapt seamlessly in any situation and incredible reserve of knowledge, the one consistent problem in Gene's file seems to be his unwillingness to deviate from exactly what is expected of a Shinobi. For those who could not understand his drive and reasoning behind adhering to the rules Gene was considered difficult to work with and many refused to take assignments where he were selected as a member of the team. More importantly, many had spoken out against him being considered for a promotion in light of his unwillingness to deviate from protocol. However, the benefits to having someone infinitely familiar with protocol far outweighed the drawbacks and so Gene was eventually promoted (after a three year time skip) to special Jounin. Aged in body and mind, The Cloud Gazer has set his sets his sights on ANBU.

In just under a year after being promoted to Specialist Gene has achieved the unthinkable, becoming the youngest Shinobi in Konoha's ninja history to not only rise to the rank of Buntaicho within the Anbu Black ops organization but to succeed its former superior as the supreme Commander of the Anbu Black ops. A merit not to be taken lightly by any account and certainly earned through the young man's ability to combat and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds ranging from giant spirit creatures; a legendary serpentine monster & a great ferocious Dragon creature, guarding several high profile targets, assisting in the restoration of Whirlpool country to its former glory alongside Fanho, Takeo and many others and even facing off against the Juunanadaime Hokage himself who'd all but served as one of the founding members of ANBU in the organization's transformation from ROOT. Proving himself worthy in mind, body and soul Gene has assumed command of perhaps the most powerful and deadly force that Konoha has to offer, second in Authority to only the Hokage.

With the organization under his command, Gene now intends to bolster Konoha's swift response divisions and increase the spectrum of which Anbu maintain's influence.

The ninja can also hurl a projectile, which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent, the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai. The flames can travel up to thirty feet before dissipating. If the flames hit flesh, they will do damage equal to Gene's control unless otherwise stated.

Holding the exhale, the narrow stream continues to grow reaching a size of 2m over a three second delay period before violently launching forward at a speed equal to his control up to 40m away. During travel, the flames widen out spanning across the length of 15 meters, a height of 10 meters and width of 10 meters. This area, influenced by his Volatile Katon chakra then becomes unstable to the point of triggering an explosion of heat and flames at a speed and strength equal to his control [unless otherwise stated] across a 30 meter diameter, applying the ignition passive, and second degree burns to those affected.

A devastating technique capable of decimating landscapes and suppressing powerful foes, the all-consuming dragon fire is initiated by channeling a large amount of chakra, culminating in the users chest. Exhaling, the jutsu will fire off as a cone-shaped stream of blazing fire. The stream extends 40 meters in length, starting off as only a meter thick and widening gradually to a diameter of 30 meters at the end. The heat from this attack is so intense that it can crack stone and reduce full trees to ashes. the user can maintain this technique for up to two posts and can turn his head to change the angle of the attack accordingly. The flames move with a speed equal to Gene's control and strike with a strength equal to his control unless otherwise stated.

Description: Gene will begin gathering a large amount of Chakra before holding one or both of his hands out in front of him with the palms facing upward, towards the sky. Three inches above one or both of his hands, a sphere of flames in the likeness of the sun will manifest at a speed equal to his control growing to the size of a basketball. The flames themselves are hot enough to crack stone, completely incinerate tall trees, and dry up small ponds or lakes. Launched forward with chakra this jutsu impacts( & burns) with a Strength equal to his control [unless otherwise stated ]before expanding outwards, upwards and below 25 meters. This jutsu can be held for a post count of 3 before needing to be either used or dispelled.

A supplementary technique used to create a rope of chakra, this technique begins with a short set of handseals. Once these have been completed, the user will hold their arms apart and form the rope between them. The rope can be variable lengths to a max of 3 meters in length. It is highly resistant to cutting by any normal object and can resist weak strength techniques up to Gene's control in strength quite well. The rope, while resilient, does not provide any defense and finds its use in tying up people or animals, as rope usually does. The rope lasts for Seven(7) posts.

A technique focused on boosting the user's strength, Pumped begins with a set of handseals. Once they are completed, the user will focus chakra throughout their muscles to stimulate them. With this extra stimulation, users gain a firmer grasp over their body (+2 strength) at the cost of their control over other techniques (-2 control). This technique lasts for three (3) posts.

This technique's true advantage is that the disguise is given physical substance. This means, for example, if they transform into something with claws, they will have claws that can physically be used. For the disguises 5 post duration if it is damaged by a strike more than Gene's control in strength, the disguise "poofs" from existence.

Upon channeling a moderate amount of chakra through his body Gene will transform or rather, Shape shift into the form of a 15 meter tall Dragon complete with hardened scaley skin, razor sharp talons and teeth. A form of the advanced transformation technique; this jutsu lasts until dispelled or a blow greater than [control] strength has been sustained.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will cause their hair to rapidly grow and cocoon their body for protection. Upon completely cocooning the user, the hair disconnects from the user's hair, leaving it at it's original length.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will imbue an item with their chakra that is no larger than a basketball. The next thing to touch the object within 3 posts will feel the chakra lurch off the object, surging into their body and overwhelming them. If the target that touches the object has [Control] or higher Strength, they will find themselves unaffected.

After performing the correct hand seals Gene will manifest a 20m3 barrier around a target up to 20m away from his position. The barrier forms at [control] speed and has [control] strength. Those trapped inside are unable to see outside of the barrier and over time, will have their strength sapped from them at a rate of -3 per post for the first three consecutive turn cycles (3 posts) after being captured. Lasts for four posts or until broken.

While doing this, the ninja cannot move through anything or anyone, nor can they supplement it with an attack of any kind. After the quick movement has stopped, there is a brief pause where the user must recover from the movement. Even though it's not a full teleportation, this jutsu uses up one of the 2 teleportations a character can use in a single thread.

The user may then send themselves flying to a nearby target's shadow, within 80 meters, at [Control] Speed. If successful, they will mirror themselves in the users shadow so that they may follow them for up to 5 posts. At any point if the users attempts to attack, the disguise will be released, causing a "poof " of smoke. This jutsu uses up one of the 2 teleportations a character can use in a single thread.

The user can determine who has more chakra strength than others, allowing them to pick out possible risks. This technique is not very reliable as a determining factor, however.

This jutsu is an extension of [Beyond Senses]. With this jutsu initiated, a sensor can focus on individual chakra signatures to get a precise idea of where their opponents are at up to 25 meters. A general sense of the direction and number of chakra sources can be determined at about 50 meters. It should be noted that this jutsu requires intense concentration, often making the user shut their eyes so they can focus on the jutsu solely. Even with high levels of Chakra Control and Instinct, this jutsu can be mentally taxing as it requires the user to sort through the individual chakra sources in the sensor’s range.

Having used the flare, the user will look out for any flares. Upon noticing one, the user will immediately do a single hand seal, allowing them to determine the affinity, strength, and speed if applicable, and sense where that chakra is going specifically. This means if it’s a projectile, they’ll be able to track and see the projectile in their minds eye. If it’s a fuuinjutsu, they are able to see that a fuuinjutsu is activated, but will not be able to follow the result unless they activate this jutsu again. This jutsu is very effective due to it’s broad mechanic.

This technique functions at a speed and strength equal to Gene's control once created and sustains a flight radius of up to ten meters from Gene's position at all times, lasting until striking an object or dispersing at the end of its two post cycle duration.

Concentrating Raiton elemental chakra in one of his hands Gene allows the stored energy to become violent. Once charged, the small sphere of Raiton elemental chakra can be thrown as a projectile toward any noun within feasible distance. Upon contact with said noun the projectile will latch on to the target and detonate with force equal to his control.

While Adv. Channeling, the user creates two orbs of lightning the size of basketballs slightly above their head. They are then able to direct these orbs at a speed equal to their control at their will, able while doing this. These orbs cannot leave a 40m diameter around the user, and detonate with the power equal to Gene's control [unless stated otherwise] each on contact with a solid. These orbs last a maximum of 4 posts, and may be self destructed at any moment in their lifespan at the user's will.

This will produce an electric current on the ground in this area visible as crackling lightning on the surface. This current lasts 3 posts, while it ends immediately if the user leaves the area.

While it has no effect on the fundamentals of the jutsu, the lightning will assume the form of a great Dragon attempting to engulf its prey before impact, potentially catching foes off guard.

The user will first perform the correct hand seals before extending both of their arms forward in front of them. During this motion, an energized dragon of Raiton chakra will manifest and burst forward at a speed and strength equal to Gene's control, for up to a maximum distance of 25 meters OR until impact with a solid. Upon impact, the Dragon bite down on the target but this is just for show as the real damage is dealt when the dragon implodes, forcing the Raiton chakra into the target likely delivering electrocution injuries conducive to Gene's control stat. The Dragon is nine feet wide and nine feet long.

Gene will gather a concentrated amount of Raiton in his hand after channeling chakra. The lightning causes a sound similar to thousands of birds chirping over the top of each other while it is in existence. The user will then dash at full speed toward a target and attempt to thrust their hand into their target's body using their strength and momentum. The lightning then jumps from the user's arm into the opponent's body where it ravages the insides with a [Control] Strength surge of Raiton chakra.

Note: With Gene's Willpower level being so high (50) he can use this technique without experiencing the effects of tunnel vision. However, should his willpower drop for any reason he will struggle using this technique due to tunnel vision.

Created through the study of the infamous Shadow Clone technique, Gene has applied the fundamentals of Kage Bunshin to a unique form of Bunshin dubbed; Raiton Release: Kage Bunshin, otherwise known as Lightning style: Shadow clone. Like the standard Shadow clone the Raiton Kage Bunshin takes after the creator in both appearance and physical mass meaning that it is able to interact with the physical world and cast jutsu. This electricity will then sprout violently from the ground as three intersecting bolts of lightning at a speed equal to Gene's control, each boasting a twelve inch diameter forming the letter "Ӝ". At its max height, this variant of Chidori elevates up to 5 meters in the air and impacts hard with a Strength equal to his control. Those struck by this technique are impaled and held in place, paralyzed by the Raiton's passive effect in a "Crucifix" posture. Designed to either kill or capture mid-ranged targets, this improvised Raikiri technique has a maximum distance of fifteen meters though can be deployed at shorter distances if need be.

If the patient's temperature is above normal body temperature, the chakra within the object will clump together near the top of it, while if the body temperature is below average, the chakra will form much lower down on the object. This chakra will help to keep the user from breathing bacteria onto a patient during procedures. This technique can be held as long as the user has chakra.

D-Ranked Ninjutsu
As sanitation cannot always be guaranteed in field operations, this technique provides a quick substitute to traditional sterilization methods. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will channel the chakra throughout his/her upper body (torso, arms, hands, face). This chakra will chew away at harmful bacteria and other foreign bodies on the skin, cleansing it until it is thoroughly sterile, and can be spread to objects, most commonly surgical tools. Of course, this takes both concentration and time, and in order to sterilize the entire upper body, it will take a duration of one (1) post. Users of this technique can also choose to sterilize certain parts of their upper body or the wounds of another person instead for a lesser concentration period. Once they are sanitized, they remain this way until coming in contact with more bacteria.

*[Iijutsu • Oxygen Flow]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Simple in its form yet highly effective in practice, the *[Iijutsu • Oxygen Flow] technique allows its users to clear obstructed airways, to perform less extensive CPR, and to give cells the oxygen they crave. After focusing chakra into the hands, the user will place both over the target's chest (through the back works as well). By allowing the chakra to be channeled throughout the lungs and up through the air ways, any unseen, solid or liquid obstructions will be cleared from these passages and ejected through the mouth, allowing the patient to breathe more easily. Additionally, the hands can be placed over the heart to help oxygenate the body's cells. In this instance, users must be much more careful, as over-oxygenating cells can cause more harm than good. This technique takes the entirety of one post to perform.

*[Iijutsu • Blood Clot Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
This highly useful field technique is applied to bleeding wounds to help encourage the coagulation of the blood. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them over the bleeding wound and begin to channel chakra through it. The chakra will began to thicken the blood, causing it to clot. Wounds must be dealt with one at a time, and the number of wounds that can be tended to within the three (3) posts that this technique lasts depends on their size. Small wounds take very little time to clot, while moderate wounds take one (1) post of concentration to clot, and large wounds take two (2) posts to clot. Although this technique stops the bleeding, the wound remains vulnerable and will require further care after this has been performed.

*[Iijutsu • Skin Separation]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Typically used to make the autopsy process smoother, the *[Iijutsu • Skin Separation] technique separates the skin of the corpse from the underlying muscle. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will slowly move them over the desired area, usually holding them about an inch away from the body itself. As the chakra is channeled through the flesh, it will slowly sink to the final layer of the skin and begin to form a new layer between the skin and the muscle beneath. After this layer has fully formed, the chakra will stay there for four (4) posts, allowing the user to easily separate the flesh and muscle. This non-combat technique cannot be used on living beings as the postmortem physiology is different from that of a living creature.

A relatively simple and handy technique to have at hand, *[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to small areas of first degree burns, it's fairly quick to do. For small areas of second degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. This technique is ineffective when applied to larger areas or burns worse than second degree.

When traditional stitching supplies aren't available, *[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching] truly shines. After performing a short set of handseals, the user will gently place his/her index finger at the base of the patient's wound. Once this is done, the user will lift his/her finger and touch it to the other side of the wound, causing a visible 'stitch' of chakra to appear. This is repeated until the wound has been pulled together. Although precision is key, this technique can still be performed relatively quickly. Small to moderate wounds take very little time to stitch, while large wounds will take one (1) post of work to mend. This technique drains a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attached to in order to keep the stitches going, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. Any intensive or strenuous movements will cause the stitches to break.

A simple yet vital medical technique, the *[Iijutsu • Bandage Technique] provides its users with the ability to create makeshift bandages out of any suitable material they desire. After channeling chakra into an object (such as a leaf, piece of cloth, etc.), the user is able to apply it to the wound of a patient. Once applied, the selected object will adhere to the flesh around the wound, protecting it from bacteria and other harmful foreign bodies. Objects used for the bandage technique are automatically sterilized in the process. These bandages drain a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attatched to in order to keep them stuck on, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. Perhaps one of the most important Iijutsu techniques to date, the *[Iijutsu • Medical Diagnosis Technique] allows its users to probe another's body in search for medical answers. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will begin to channel it into the patient's body. Using this chakra as an internal extension of his/her hand to feel for abnormalities and other issues, the user is often able to determine the problem after some time and concentration. In order for a thorough examination to provide sufficient answers, the user will focus for up to one (1) post, seeking signs of internal and external damage, organ malfunction and disease among other ailments. Although skilled medical-nin have the possibility to work faster, skill cannot be substituted in for thoroughness.

*[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: User's averaged Instinct and Control stats must be 10 or above
A useful, but particularly taxing technique, the *[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique] is performed on poisoned patients. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will make a small incision (with a knife, scalpel, etc.) on the patient and then place his/her hands over the new wound. As this chakra is channeled into the body, it extracts the poison out of it and into the user's palm. After one (1) post of the extraction process, the user will remove his/her hand, and place it over a container of some sort (anything that can bear liquid). From here, the liquid poison will be ejected from the hand along with the remaining chakra that was used to extract it. As this chakra interacts with the poison over the course of a second post, its molecules will be rearranged to form the antidote for the poison in question. This works only on C-Rank or lower poisons. The antidote takes a total of three (3) posts to fully rid the body of the poison.

Once the antidote has been concocted following the description of the *[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique], the user will begin to channel additional chakra throughout the antidote to make it especially potent. This increased potency not only rids the body of the C-Rank or lower liquid poison that was in the body over the (3) posts it takes to work, but also induces an immunity in the patient which lasts for seven (7) posts.

*[Iijutsu • Bone Fracture Technique]
C-Ranked Nintaijutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel]
Once the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel] has been activated, users may choose to use this jutsu as an alternative to the aforementioned technique's usual action. When in close range, the user will attempt to jab his/her charged hand at the opponent, seeking to connect with a bone. If successful, the chakra will be released into the opponent's body as a sharp, precise burst to the area of contact, causing the bone to fracture. If this area is struck again in the same spot, the bone will inevitably break. This technique does not harm anything but the bone—not even the skin—and is dispelled after three (3) posts or until contact with the opponent is made. However, since both hands are charged, the user has two chances with this technique per use (one per hand).

*[Iijutsu • Burn Treatment]

A step up in the ability to treat burns, *[Iijutsu • Burn Treatment] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to medium-sized areas of first degree and second degree burns, it's fairly quick to do. For small-sized areas of third degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. This technique is ineffective when applied to larger areas or burns worse than third degree.

*[Iijutsu • Blood Transfer Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
A simple technique that requires its users to sacrifice a little to save a life, the*[Iijutsu • Blood Transfer Technique] does exactly what its name suggests. To prepare for this procedure, the user must make a small incision into the patient's body and follow by opening a vein. Once the vein has been open, the user will begin to channel chakra into it. Over the course of one (1) post, the patient's blood will gain density and stabilize itself. Users of this technique must be aware that their own blood will dilute over the duration of this technique, as it is essentially transferring blood from their bodies to the patient's. No more than 1 liter (2 pints) of blood can be transferred using this technique without severe repercussions for the user.

*[Iijutsu • Skin Irritation]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
One of the few offensive techniques found within the spectrum of Iijutsu, *[Iijutsu • Skin Irritation] is utilized in close quarters by medical-nin. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will wait until the opponent is close enough to make bodily contact. Once this happens, the user will attempt to touch the opponent on an open area of flesh. The moment contact is made, the chakra in the hand(s) that made contact will be forcibly channeled into the opponent's body and begin to irritate the skin. In the first post after making contact, large, itchy, red hives will erupt in the area of contact. During the second post after contact, they will spread throughout that entire limb or body part. In the final post of its spreading duration, it covers the entirety of the opponent's body and the itching lasts an additional three (3) posts after this is completed. Although the itching stops, the hives will remain tender (like a sunburn) until medical attention is received.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Perhaps one of the most dangerous and revered Iijutsu honed by medical-nin, the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel] is no precision instrument. After performing the necessary handseals, the user will begin to focus an ample amount of chakra into his/her hands. Once charged with chakra, the user will attempt to place his/her hands on the target. If the user is able to connect the entirety of his/her palm, the chakra will be released into the opponent's body, slicing tissue, organs and veins up to 4 inches from the surface in an area roughly the size of the user's hand. The skin remains unblemished by this technique, as it only causes small to moderate internal wounds. As this technique is dangerous and mostly uncontrolled, the precision needed to kill instantaneously is lost. The chakra used in this technique is highly visible when first activated and emanates from both hands for a duration of three (3) posts or until contact with the opponent is made.

*[Iijutsu • Intermediate Antidote Technique]

After focusing chakra into the hands, the user will begin to channel it through the area of the break or fracture. As this chakra makes contact with the bone, it will stimulate the calcium production of the body and begin to mend the bone. To mend small-to-medium breaks, it takes one (1) post of concentration, while fractures are usually very quick to mend. Multiple breaks can be mended during the use of this technique as it lasts for a total of five (5) posts or until canceled. Users should beware that, like other regenerations of this kind, the nutrient stores of the patient's body are being depleted during its use, and too many uses of this technique in a short span of time can cause serious damage.

*[Iijutsu • Secret Healing Injury Destruction]
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
An advanced technique that requires both quick reflexes and prediction, the *[Iijutsu • Secret Healing Injury Destruction] technique is highly formidable due to its effects. In the event that the user is aware that they will be hit in a specific place, s/he may attempt to focus chakra into that area before the strike connects. If successful, any damage to the damaged area will immediately begin to regenerate, be it a bruise, small fracture, or a small-to-moderate cut. These wounds can take up to one (1) post to heal fully depending on their size and severity, where fractures and moderate wounds would take the entire post. However, during this regeneration process, users are not rendered immobile and can continue to fight while their wounds regenerate. This technique can only be used a maximum of three (3) times per thread.

*[Iijutsu • Chaotic Mental Collision]
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: Must have Raiton
Utilizing electricity to work, the *[Iijutsu • Chaotic Mental Collision] technique is a highly dangerous Iijutsu. To begin, the user will focus regular chakra into his/her hands moments prior to electrifying it with Raiton chakra. This charged chakra will be used in an attempt to disrupt the target's nervous system through close-range contact with the user's hand. If the user is able to connect the flat of his/her palm with the opponent's body, the chakra will be released into it. As this chakra interacts with the foe's nervous system over the course of three (3) posts, it will begin to sever the brain's communication with the rest of the body. During the first post, motor skills such as walking, talking and moving one's hands will be delayed by several seconds. During the second post, the target will begin to lose control over movement in his/her body as the action delay grows worse. By the third post, all motor skills will cease and the target will be rendered immobile. This complete immobility lasts for two (2) posts.

*[Iijutsu • Mystical Palm]
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 20 Iijutsu
One of the almighty and most highly coveted abilities of medical-nin, the *[Iijutsu • Mystical Palm] technique allows its users to heal wounds quickly and efficiently. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will place them over the wound in question and begin to channel chakra through it. As the chakra interacts with the cells and tissues in the area, the wound will begin to regenerate and heal over until there's no remnant of it ever being there. Of course, this is not done in the blink of an eye. To heal small-to-moderate wounds, it takes very little time, while large wounds take one (1) post of concentration to mend, and mortal wounds take a total of two (2) posts to fully mend. This technique lasts for four (4) posts, but due to its chakra-extensive nature, users are not advised to treat multiple large wounds in a single use.

Developed for clandestine operations originally by Gene Mitsurugi, instead of using ink and paper, the user draws a seal onto their body the size of the item they are sealing into their body. Upon doing a set of hand seals, the user then slides the item into the tattoo and performs a second seal, causing the seal to go dormant. When kai'd the seal releases the stored item.

A truly unique move in that it can be used alongside other Fuuinjutsu, by channeling into their finger as they draw in the air directly in front of them, the user releases raw chakra the lingers for a small amount of time, allowing it to be used as a seal formula. Alternatively the user can also do hand seals and place their hands forward, causing a seal to burst to life in the air in front of them. This technique consumes chakra equal to the cost of the technique.

By having an empty surface with a seal formula placed on it, the user is able to use the seal as a defensive measure. Holding a single, one-handed hand seal, the user attempts to block the incoming projectile with the surface. Right before contact is actually made, the projectile will be sealed into the seal. While strong, the seal must be the same size or larger than the projectile it is attempting to seal. This seal can protect up to the user’s [Control] in Strength. They will then place themselves behind the target and unleash a quick flurry of punches before kicking another side and repeating the process. This process can keep going ad infinitum or until the practitioner disengages.

C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
An often difficult attack to accomplish but good for setting up a string of further attacks. The user will sweep low, attempting to kick their target's feet from beneath them. Before they fall, a second kick will attempt to launch them airborne a number of meters equal to the difference in the practitioner's strength from their target.

B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
The user delivers an upward kick to their opponent, sending them high into the air. The user follows the opponent along their upward trajectory, taking tight hold of them so that they can't move or escape. Once they've reached the peak of the initial kick's arc, the user begins a spinning motion and propels them headfirst towards the ground. The user releases the opponent right before impact and retreats to safety, leaving the opponent to collide with the ground alone.

After some practice Gene has become adept in quelling the noise of his footsteps when walking. On uneven surfaces or places with very little footing he can slip through making almost no sound so long as he remains walking thus, he is harder to detect when sneaking up on his targets.

Description: Taught extensively in the way of a true Shinobi, Gene has learned the art of tracking his target(s) in various terrain archetypes. By studying footprints, handprints, broken branches and other irregularities left by someone he may pick up on their trail and follow it. Unless significantly altered by environmental factors Gene may follow the physical sign of a trail even if it is several days or weeks old.

When in close proximity to a target Gene will attempt to lift an item of interest off that person utilizing his speed and precise hand movements to take an item often times without the person being aware of what they've lost until it's too late, provided they do not possess a Perception technique of equal or greater rank. Conversely, he may also plant items on a person using this method without them being aware."

Description: Gene has trained his eyes to be able to catch even the faintest hints of movements, allowing him to determine threats such as an opponent launching an attack or a trap getting ready to go off. Even something as subtle as the brief tensing of a muscle can be picked up by his incredible eyesight.

Through intensive training Gene has taken another step further in becoming a true Shinobi. He may now remain completely silently when walking and running but those with Perception techniques of equal or higher rank may detect him."

Description: As a Shinobi, it is imperative to be able to distinguish between the sounds of nature and those that are unnatural for the sake of one's own safety. To that end, Gene has gained enough experience to be able to tell the difference between natural sounds and those of a battle extending to footfalls, breathing, clanking equipment and other abnormal noises that do not stem from himself. Additionally, he may tune out sounds to focus on specific sounds and noises making him much harder to fool.

Description: There are times when in order to remain silent, unnoticed and most of all hidden, one must adapt to their environment in order to best utilize the natural resources available to them. To that affect Gene has learned the importance of being able to get around without walking or running to his destinations by quite literally crawling or maintaining cover by lying prone on the ground. While this does not in any way make him completely invisible, it does make him a smaller target therefore, harder to spot in most situations where cover is optimal and in the proper setting. Effectively, this means that he could hide in the bushes or foliage without drawing attention to himself or behind rocks, logs and similar forms of small cover without standing out from his environment. While in this stance, he may crawl at his full speed and strength without making noise. Another functional component of the stance is Gene's awareness of where he is in relativity to the wind, often instinctively making sure that he opposite whichever direction the wind is blowing to avoid his scent being carried and potentially alerting what he is hunting.

Prerequisites: [Distinction]
Description: Tying in with distinction which allows Gene to string together complex information regarding the sound around him, Clarity is a discipline of the highest variety that enables Gene to vividly and accurately study and learn the intimate details about the things that he observes with his sight. These things are often minute details easily missed by the average or even practiced observer but not to Gene due to his instinctive attention to the world around him to include people, their mannerisms, hidden tales, quirks and other pertinent details. Furthermore, because of this superhuman like level of focus Gene may recognize the flaws in most transformation techniques provided this technique is higher or equal to the technique being performed - making him harder to fool."

Description: Having spent years in the forests, jungles and other such terrain archetypes Gene has developed a means of identifying unique properties about his environment such as potential places to set up an Ambush, camp sites, and discreet rally points. Conversely, he stands a lesser chance of getting lost or being unable to find his way back to a point of origin provided he has had enough time to thoroughly examine his surroundings. In combat, this can be a strategic advantage as it allows him to incorporate his surroundings into his battle plans to inflict collateral damage on unsuspecting opponents.

A rank maneuver

Description: One of Gene’s more lethal techniques, this maneuver relies heavily on Gene's speed in order to be performed correctly. Starting out, Gene will equip himself with a weapon (Kunai, Tanto, Sword , etc) and point it in the direction of his opponent. Then he will unleash a series of stabs in their direction for a total of Endurance/5. If the opponent does not possess a Perception technique that equal to or greater than Gene's Speed, not only will they have a hard time following the attack but they will be more likely to panic; thrown into confusion by Malicious nature of the technique, making them easier to strike down in their confusion."

*[Genjutsu • Smell Of The Deceased]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
An illusionary jutsu that, after performing the necessary hand seals, causes the target to begin to smell rotting flesh and decaying bodies. The jutsu can cause nausea and vomiting from the target, depending on how sensitive their sense of smell is, and begins once the victim witnesses the user perform the hand seals. The smell of the dead can also cause some mental stress on the target. This genjutsu lasts for three (3) posts.

D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then within the next post, snap their fingers. Anyone who hears the snapping will hear an explosion in the distance behind them. This works as an effective distraction, or a scare tactic, if properly utilized.

*[Genjutsu • When Pigs Fly]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
A rather simple genjutsu that is put into place when the user says a statement ending in "When Pigs Fly". Seconds later, anyone who hears the user say that will see several pigs with full hawk wings fly past, just a few feet above the user and the victim’s head, serving as a somewhat confusing distraction.
