Chiri

Iwagakure Jounin
Personal
AppearanceShow
Chiri is 86 years old, but does not appear so: the unique composition of his body means that he has no set or established appearance, having left his actual body behind many years ago. He stands at a modest 5' 10", but the fact that his body is comprised almost entirely of energy puts him at an unbelievable 60 pounds. His body is well muscled in appearance and a shaved head. His face has a gentle, kind appearance, but is otherwise quite plain looking. Chiri wears a simple brown robe, similar in appearance to the garb of a monk, and a pair of wooden sandals.
PersonalityShow
Chiri has a mostly even temperament, and is not easily brought to anger. When faced with social conflict he tends to keep a wise, level head, which often makes him well-suited for the role of mediator. Chiri is a very loving and accepting individual, feeling that every person has their place in the world. He believes that true evil is a very rare thing, and that most people perceived as such have simply been driven to desperation by extenuating circumstances. For this reason he tends to be very forgiving, even against personal affronts and criminal acts, feeling in his heart that most people are within the reach of growth and rehabilitation. That being said, Chiri values his own life very highly, and has unparalleled respect for the village, and will not hesitate to do what needs to be done. In fact, his beliefs on forgiveness make him a very effective utility to the village, as he does not suffer from any lasting feelings of guilt over his actions in the field.

In spite of achieving his goal of transcendence, Chiri has still not given up his scholarly pursuits. He spends the vast majority of his free time researching, meditating, and training, being under the belief that wasting time is a frivolous endeavor with no place in his life. He does not keep hobbies or engage socially simply for the sake of it. He tends to be very briefly spoken, saying only what he feels needs to be said. He is not shy, simply reserved, and does not hesitate when he feels there's something important to be said.
HistoryShow
Chiri was born to the Enkouten clan of Iwagakure no Sato. Chiri was born almost 2 months premature, and as such, came from the womb a rather sickly child. His mother gave him the name Naiya, meaning "pebble," because she felt that somewhere within her son's small and seemingly insignificant body was a resolve of stone. And she was not wrong. Even though the circumstances of Chiri's birth left the child slow-growing, feeble, and often sick, she found that her son had the willpower of a thousand able-bodied Enkouten. Chiri spent the much of his childhood bedridden, but often spent this time practicing and learning about the ninja arts. While he never quite had the knack for the clan's elemental leanings, Chiri was a natural at raw chakra manipulation.

Due to his frequent illnesses, Chiri was not enrolled into the academy until the age of 10, when he finally managed to maintain a stable degree of health. Chiri had an interesting experience at the academy, in that he excelled in very few areas, most notably Ninpou, but failed miserably in just about all other fields. This, coupled with the age difference between him and his peers, made him the black sheep of his class as well as of his family. This social separation caused Chiri to develop quite a few psychological shortcomings, including anxiety, depression, and feelings of insignificance. At school, he watched as his classmates outpaced him in elemental manipulation and taijutsu. At home, he watched as the family smelted and smithed, tasks far out of reach for someone as frail as Chiri. However, Chiri did not let his shortcomings stop him from developing in the field he was skilled in, and he graduated from the academy at the age of 15.

After receiving his Genin assignments, Chiri found his niche in the field as a support, using his intellect and skills in Ninpou to direct and aide his team. After a few years of training, Chiri found himself ready to partake in Iwagakure's Chuunin exams. The first round was to be a battle: Chiri and another Genin, skilled in taijutsu, pitted against a Chuunin with formidable skill in offensive Ninjutsu. The battle was hard fought, and while they did not win, the pair showed great capacity for teamwork: Chiri bolstered his partner with Ninpou, who, in turn, did an excellent job of defending him from the opponent's attacks. It was then time for him to be interviewed by the panel of officials. Two of them were skeptical. Despite Chiri's prowess, they simply felt he was too feeble for the field and would be best suited helping in a smaller capacity within the village. However, a single member of the panel saw great potential in Chiri's field utility, and fought for him adamantly. In the end, Chiri was promoted to Chuunin.

Shortly after, however, Chiri found that he had plateaued. While he served to be very useful for low-risk assignments, high ranking missions were well beyond his grasp. He eventually resigned from field work and devoted himself to research. These failings weighed heavy on the Chuunin, as he felt all of his childhood dreams were beyond him. In time, he became a well-respected instructor at the academy, but found his position, while important, to be unsatisfying. He knew there had to be more to life. And so he began to develop a new life view more suited to his strengths, the tenants of which he laid out clearly for himself: to seek wisdom over power, to live simply and without excess, to do what needed to be done and disregard frivolous ventures. And while this helped him to grow more comfortable in himself, he still never fully escaped the desire for more.

In time, trying to force himself to accept these he could drove him to a mild madness. He grew obsessed with the idea of leaving his body behind in pursuit of higher truth and divine wisdom. Chiri became obsessed with the idea of leaving behind his physical body, of giving his spirit to sublimation. He felt that his body had been the source of all of his shortcomings and misery, and wished to be rid of it. He quit his position as academy instructor, and devoted many hours a day to researching skills and phenomena that could lead him to where he wanted. He read stories of men who had transplanted their mind and chakra into bodies of wood, others who had converted their bodies entirely into an element. But even stories of these things were few and far between, and methods for achieving them seemed nonexistent.

The Chuunin eventually decided he would have to develop his own method. He began experimenting with what he called "Motes," semi-tangible constructs of pure chakra which could be imbued with varying effects. He eventually learned that he could infuse these Motes into his own body in order to provide himself with new found strength. And while the development of this skill may have thrilled a younger Chiri, he had since become far too obsessed with the idea of transcendence to be satisfied with it. And so he continued to train and develop, eventually honing his skills to the point of creating a Mote the he felt could not only hold the entirety of his body's chakra, but his mind and spirit as well. After many months of careful planning and consideration, Chiri put his ideas into action.

It was some weeks later, after neighboring villagers had complained of the smell, that his body was found in a sever state of decay. There was left, however, an orb of black chakra floating above the body. Fearing the object to be a dangerous weapon that had caused his death, the Tsuchikage, who had just so happened to be the same village official who had adamantly fought for his promotion to Chuunin, quarantined the home and pieced together a task force to determine whether or not the orb was a threat. It didn't take long for them to ascertain what had happened, as Chiri kept very detailed notes and descriptions of his process. Not wanting to destroy the orb because it could very well hold Chiri's spirit, but also fearing that it may be dangerous, the Tsuchikage put the property on lock down and under constant watch.

It was almost a year before a second Mote, a white one, appeared alongside the first in a very precise orbit. Several months later, a third appeared. And they continued to appear, the time between each diminishing greatly with each successive appearance. Before long, the Motes began to clump together and take shape, eventually taking the form of a small, but healthy looking child. Not long after that, Chiri awoke, much to the excitement of the Tsuchikage, who was both astounded and impressed by the feat. It was through this transformation that he came to accept both his previous life as a feeble child and the structure he imposed on himself to escape, finding both power and wisdom. He then took the name Chiri, meaning "dust," a gesture symbolic of a crushed pebble.

Chiri was placed on service reserve for a few months, until the Tsuchikage was convinced that his new body was sufficiently stable. He was reinstated as a Chuunin, and given low-ranking field work missions in support roles. He remained in that position for a few years, training and developing his new skills and body, advancing and growing at a pace previously unknown to him. Due to his strange new abilities, he was under pretty close scrutiny by the Tsuchikage. He did not let Chiri's newfound skill and power go unnoticed, unused, or unrewarded, and he was promoted to Jounin.

Mala
A bracelet comprised of 21 wooden beads, worn around Chiri's right wrist. Each bead is able to hold a single Mote. The mala prevents held Motes from decaying, allowing them to be held indefinitely. Motes can be moved from Chiri's body to the mala during a thread, or stored beforehand, allowing him to bring prepared Motes into battle. A Mote stored in the mala prior to the start of a thread still utilizes chakra, but does not require handseals.

Having devoted his life to mastering the arts of Ninjutsu, this shinobi is classified as a Ninpou Specialist. Chiri is able to devote a total of 10 concentrations to Ninjutsu. However, he is only able to devote a max of 5 concentrations to Taijutsu, and a max of 5 concentrations to Genjutsu.

As a Ninpou Specialist, Chiri is able to utilize Ninjutsu concentrations reserved for specialists, and is able to enter the God Tier [45+] on select stats. These are Ninjutsu, Speed, Control, and Stamina.
AbilitiesShow
Mote Body
Chiri's body is comprised of Motes, semi-solid orbs of spirit energy and chakra about an inch in diameter with the appearance of glowing lights. They anchor around a single Core Mote, which is black in color and roughly the size of a human heart, located in the center of Chiri's chest. The Core Mote contains Chiri's spirit and essence, and if destroyed, results in his death. Specialized Motes are typically created within Chiri's body, and can either be detached and controlled or used from within him. A key feature of Motes is that they can be created and then held, to be used at a later time.
ConcentrationsShow
Mote Ninpou
A Ninpou variation created by Chiri that allows him to create orbs of chakra called Motes that can be imbued with different effects.

Sensor
Sensors are shinobi who are able to activate a sixth sense which can locate and read chakra sources. Sensory is advantageous as it allows shinobi to perceive without using any of their conventional senses, which can easily be deceived. Sensors are able to collect a lot of information through the interpretation of this sixth sense.
