Physical Features:
  • Face/head: Mai has long brown hair that flows just past her shoulders, though she often keeps it back in a single braid or ponytail to keep it out of her face and out of her way. Her grey eyes seem to darken when she becomes angry and soften as her temperament does so as well, expressing emotion far more than any other part of her body. Her face is devoid of blemish or scar though hardly ever visible given her typical garb.
  • Body: Mai has a fairly thin frame with just enough curvature in bust and hip to give away her gender, though not much else, giving away that much of her time training has been spent training Ninjutsu and/or Genjutsu rather than the physical arts. She has a few small scars on her hands and arms but aside from that hardly anything noticeable.
  • Notable Features: Mai has a single tattoo on the back of her right shoulder, her clan symbol, done in a thin lineart style.
Clothing/Accessories: Mai wears a dark grey dress with sleeves that come down to her hands, her thumbs slipping through a hole in the sleeves to keep them down though the sleeves are still loose enough to hand down from the wrist about three inches. The skirt of it extends down just below her knees in the front and to her mid-calf in the back. Underneath she wears matching dark grey shorts. This dress also has a hood attached to it that she almost always wears up over her head with her braid or ponytail coming out of it at the base of her neck. She has a dark brown leather vest she wears over this, fitted in a corset style with various detailing all over it of different bugs as if crawling all over the vest. Her shoes are the same color as the vest, and material, a pair of flat boots coming up to her knees. Lastly she wears a pair of brass goggles on her face at all times with a light purple tint to the lenses (think steampunk style) that seem to hide the true color of her eyes.

ANBU ‘Uniform’: At the undermost layer, Mai wears an all black bodysuit that zips up her back. This is sleeveless and completely form fitting, extending down to her ankles. Over this she wears a long coat with a high collar that flows free below the waist. This coat snaps at the waist to keep everything secure, looking almost like a shirt above the waist and part of a skirt below the waist. This free-flowing outfit is designed to give her bugs a place to hide. Lastly she wears black gloves and the typical white mask of the ANBU. Her mask however is designed with slanted eye-holes and ‘antennae’ designed coming up from those eyes, and only a slit for the mouth. All designs on the mask area a light purple, and the mouth hole is cut specifically to alter the woman’s vocal tones without the aid of chakra. (Picture Reference for ‘uniform’)

Personality:
  • General: While Mai is generally known to be kind and forgiving, she is also rather reserved. It isn’t necessarily that she doesn’t trust those around her so much as she simply keeps things to herself. She prefers to spend time around her own clansman, and outside of her clan she is fairly introverted.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Mai hopes one day for a family, for love, like many women.
  • Fears: Mai fears the loss of self, either losing her mind to mental illness or losing herself to anything else. This fear seems without a root cause in her life.
  • Combat Mentality: Mai keeps herself in the back of a battle, preferring to fight alongside others and using herself as a support rather than fighting close quarters.
The birth of Aburame Mai was the simplest of things. She was born an only child and would be raised that way, both of her parents feeling that more than one was simply too complicated. After her birth her father continued life as a shinobi while her mother retired, spending her time raising Mai and teaching her the ways of the clan and their little companions. Mai spent most of her days in a small garden her mother kept, observing some of what had once been her mother’s greatest allies as they now enjoyed the plants she grew.

By time she joined the academy, she had already shown her interest in the medical arts. And so when her mother’s swarm gave birth to a new generation of Kikaichu, Mai took from them a larvae form known among their clan as Shijikonchū. She entered the Academy proud of her own little swarm, and yet stoically silent, a trait that had already begun to show in the girl. She made almost no attempts to befriend girls who were not of her clan in her class, partly by choice but also because most of them were disgusted by her larvae. Keeping to herself she was able to avoid most forms of bullying in her class, though as time went on it became more difficult to keep to herself. One girl tried to turn her attention to Mai, and to mock her but the act didn’t last long. It was rumored the girl took ill one day, though the truth was she became ill due to the sudden presence of bugs in her food. Mai was pretty much left alone after that.

Mai’s interests and talents had already taken root in ninjutsu, and in being able to help others. As she moved on from the Academy and into life as a Genin at age twelve, that stuck with her. If she wasn’t training she was reading, studying her ‘craft’ as she called it. She felt even by then that her bugs were her only true friends, and kept her grounded to the earth in many ways. She was put on a team with a pair whose interests both lay in different kinds of taijutsu, leaving her as a support, a role she was most comfortable with. Both of her partners were boys, one of the Inuzuka clan and another who didn’t belong to a clan at all but favored a blade in combat. Despite her initial reservations about working with those outside of the clan, she became close to both boys. Neither of them seemed to mind traveling with a bug or two of her swarm on them, in case they would need healing of some sort, as well as for easy communication. Many of their tasks were mundane, their first real action was their own Chunin exam. The three worked together to bring down their opponent, though by the end Mai had experienced her first real drain. She had so little chakra left from supporting the two that she could barely stand, but the three passed on to Chunin from there, and Mai vowed to deepen her training and widen her own chakra pool. She felt she was no good as a medic or an Aburame if she ran out of chakra too soon to be real help to her comrades.

As chunin the three felt they could overcome anything, and having known a time of relative peace in their village none of them understood true loss. Mai was sixteen when that lesson would finally come. The three were working together once again, a protection detail. It seemed simple enough, protecting the daughter of a merchant as she traveled across country, but as bandits struck things became difficult. Mai had positioned herself on top of the carriage itself, her bugs on either of her partners and she still had to keep low to avoid long range attacks as she supported both friends. But she felt the strike of an emptiness filling her to her core before she even realized what it had meant. One of her partners was down, and even she couldn’t raise him back up. Her bugs brought her the the message in detail, the blade that had penetrated his throat before he could get his own blade up. Mai herself flew into a sorrow infused rage, backed up by her Inuzuka partner as they took down the last of their bandits. But nothing could change the fact that they still had a corpse to carry home to his family. That was the day Mai knew she couldn’t trust anyone, even if it meant she simply couldn’t trust them not to die. She became colder towards others, and all the more determined in her work.

By time she became a Jounin, Mai began to prefer tasks that took her outside the village and not just because she saw that boy’s family every day. She had come to enjoy the little cultures of other villages, and helping those outside of her own home. In some ways it was as if she felt that if she failed them, at least she didn’t have to face them every day. The death of her friend, a boy who had grown to almost a man as a samurai of sorts within their little village, was always nagging at the back of her mind. She was even away from the village as it was attacked by the missing ninja Enma and Yaku. She tried to race back, coming home only to the rebuilding of what appeared to be large areas of rubble. It was one of the most difficult things she had ever come home to, but it allowed her to finally put the death of her friend aside for the first time in a long time, and focus on something else. She focused on the rebuild of her village, and on herself. She searches now primarily for her own faith in family, self, and village. She searches for a way to fill the gaps left by what she sees as her two greatest failures, the death of her friend as a chunin, and failing to be present to protect her village in its greatest time of need.

In Mai’s search to protect her village now, her life has taken a few twists and turns. To start with she was recruited into the village ANBU Black Ops, undertaking the name Konchū and a mask that is equipped to alter her voice. When wearing the mask she found her entire demeanor needed to change, lest those outside of the organization recognize her. In addition, when seeking for a way to meet with a fellow member of the organization by the name of Yosuke, she was forced to adopt the ruse that the two were dating. As a woman who didn’t date this was very strange for her to get used to, and yet the woman has slowly found her opinions of the man, and of dating in general, changing though she refused to admit it.

When real latex gloves are not on hand, the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Gloves] technique comes in quite handy. After forming a single handseal, the user will focus chakra into his/her hands to form a thin layer of chakra around them. This chakra will help to protect other objects against the bacteria on the user's hands if sterilization is not an option before beginning a procedure. This technique can be held as long as the user has chakra.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Mask]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
Not unlike the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Gloves] technique, *[Iijutsu • Chakra Mask] shines when the real deal is not on hand. After forming a single handseal, the user will focus chakra into the area around his/her mouth and nose to form a thin layer of chakra around them. This chakra will help to keep the user from breathing bacteria onto a patient during procedures. This technique can be held as long as the user has chakra.

*[Iijutsu • Thermometer]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
This simple technique is utilized by medical-nin in place of traditional thermometers, although it is not as accurate. After forming a single handseal and focusing chakra into an object in his/her hand, the user can place it within the mouth (or rear) of the patient. If the patient's temperature is above normal body temperature, the chakra within the object will clump together near the top of it, while if the body temperature is below average, the chakra will form much lower down on the object. This technique can be held as long as the user has chakra.

*[Iijutsu • Oxygen Flow]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Simple in its form yet highly effective in practice, the *[Iijutsu • Oxygen Flow] technique allows its users to clear obstructed airways, to perform less extensive CPR, and to give cells the oxygen they crave. After focusing chakra into the hands, the user will place both over the target's chest (through the back works as well). By allowing the chakra to be channeled throughout the lungs and up through the air ways, any unseen, solid or liquid obstructions will be cleared from these passages and ejected through the mouth, allowing the patient to breathe more easily. Additionally, the hands can be placed over the heart to help oxygenate the body's cells. In this instance, users must be much more careful, as over-oxygenating cells can cause more harm than good. This technique takes the entirety of one post to perform.

*[Iijutsu • Blood Clot Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
This highly useful field technique is applied to bleeding wounds to help encourage the coagulation of the blood. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them over the bleeding wound and begin to channel chakra through it. The chakra will began to thicken the blood, causing it to clot. Wounds must be dealt with one at a time, and the number of wounds that can be tended to within the three (3) posts that this technique lasts depends on their size. Small wounds take very little time to clot, while moderate wounds take one (1) post of concentration to clot, and large wounds take two (2) posts to clot. Although this technique stops the bleeding, the wound remains vulnerable and will require further care after this has been performed.

*[Iijutsu • Skin Separation]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Typically used to make the autopsy process smoother, the *[Iijutsu • Skin Separation] technique separates the skin of the corpse from the underlying muscle. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will slowly move them over the desired area, usually holding them about an inch away from the body itself. As the chakra is channeled through the flesh, it will slowly sink to the final layer of the skin and begin to form a new layer between the skin and the muscle beneath. After this layer has fully formed, the chakra will stay there for four (4) posts, allowing the user to easily separate the flesh and muscle. This non-combat technique cannot be used on living beings as the postmortem physiology is different from that of a living creature.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
When traditional stitching supplies aren't available, *[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching] truly shines. After performing a short set of handseals, the user will gently place his/her index finger at the base of the patient's wound. Once this is done, the user will lift his/her finger and touch it to the other side of the wound, causing a visible 'stitch' of chakra to appear. This is repeated until the wound has been pulled together. Although precision is key, this technique can still be performed relatively quickly. Small to moderate wounds take very little time to stitch, while large wounds will take one (1) post of work to mend. This technique drains a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attached to in order to keep the stitches going, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. Any intensive or strenuous movements will cause the stitches to break.

*[Iijutsu • Bandage Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Sterilization Technique]
A simple yet vital medical technique, the *[Iijutsu • Bandage Technique] provides its users with the ability to create makeshift bandages out of any suitable material they desire. After channeling chakra into an object (such as a leaf, piece of cloth, etc.), the user is able to apply it to the wound of a patient. Once applied, the selected object will adhere to the flesh around the wound, protecting it from bacteria and other harmful foreign bodies. Objects used for the bandage technique are automatically sterilized in the process. These bandages drain a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attatched to in order to keep them stuck on, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. While not as effective at stopping bleeding as the [Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching] technique, they hold on much better in the case that strenuous movement is necessary.

*[Iijutsu • Sterilization Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
As sanitation cannot always be guaranteed in field operations, this technique provides a quick substitute to traditional sterilization methods. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will channel the chakra throughout his/her upper body (torso, arms, hands, face). This chakra will chew away at harmful bacteria and other foreign bodies on the skin, cleansing it until it is thoroughly sterile, and can be spread to objects, most commonly surgical tools. Of course, this takes both concentration and time, and in order to sterilize the entire upper body, it will take a duration of one (1) post. Users of this technique can also choose to sterilize certain parts of their upper body or the wounds of another person instead for a lesser concentration period. Once they are sanitized, they remain this way until coming in contact with more bacteria.

*[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A relatively simple and handy technique to have at hand, *[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to small areas of first degree burns, it's fairly quick to do. For small areas of second degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. This technique is ineffective when applied to larger areas or burns worse than second degree.

C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 5 Iijutsu
This simple ninjutsu is comprised of the user's knowledge of the human body and the ability to mask all vital signs. By focusing chakra throughout the body to preserve its function while in this state, the user can appear to be dead as long as they have chakra to spare. This act can seem very realistic to the untrained opponent, but is foiled by sensor techniques, certain doujutsu and jutsu, and the *[Iijutsu • Medical Diagnosis Technique] technique.

*[Iijutsu • Medical Diagnosis Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: 5 Iijutsu
Perhaps one of the most important Iijutsu techniques to date, the *[Iijutsu • Medical Diagnosis Technique] allows its users to probe another's body in search for medical answers. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will begin to channel it into the patient's body. Using this chakra as an internal extension of his/her hand to feel for abnormalities and other issues, the user is often able to determine the problem after some time and concentration. In order for a thorough examination to provide sufficient answers, the user will focus for up to one (1) post, seeking signs of internal and external damage, organ malfunction and disease among other ailments. Although skilled medical-nin have the possibility to work faster, skill cannot be substituted in for thoroughness.

*[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: User's averaged Instinct and Control stats must be 10 or above
A useful, but particularly taxing technique, the *[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique] is performed on poisoned patients. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will make a small incision (with a knife, scalpel, etc.) on the patient and then place his/her hands over the new wound. As this chakra is channeled into the body, it extracts the poison out of it and into the user's palm. After one (1) post of the extraction process, the user will remove his/her hand, and place it over a container of some sort (anything that can bear liquid). From here, the liquid poison will be ejected from the hand along with the remaining chakra that was used to extract it. As this chakra interacts with the poison over the course of a second post, its molecules will be rearranged to form the antidote for the poison in question. This works only on C-Rank or lower poisons. The antidote takes a total of three (3) posts to fully rid the body of the poison.

*[Iijutsu • Imperfect Cure]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique]
Formulated to work in conjunction with the *[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique], *[Iijutsu • Imperfect Cure] extends upon the antidote created in the aforementioned technique. Once the antidote has been concocted following the description of the *[Iijutsu • Basic Antidote Technique], the user will begin to channel additional chakra throughout the antidote to make it especially potent. This increased potency not only rids the body of the C-Rank or lower liquid poison that was in the body over the (3) posts it takes to work, but also induces an immunity in the patient which lasts for seven (7) posts.

*[Iijutsu • Skin Generation]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Often utilized by medical-nin to heal small, superficial wounds or for producing excess skin to use in skin grafts, the *[Iijutsu • Skin Generation] technique has its number of uses. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will channel it into a small area of skin cells on the patient's body. This chakra will force the skin cells to multiply at an ample rate by confusing this area of the body into its reconstruction stage that is achieved during slumber. As this is a type of regeneration, users must keep in mind that each cell draws from nutrients in the patient's body, and as such, too much can cause serious harm. In order to regenerate medium-sized areas of superficial wounds, it takes one (1) post of concentration. Areas smaller than this take considerably less time. In the case that the skin sample is separate from the body, the cells can be multiplied more quickly than they could be otherwise. These types of samples are generally use for skin grafts. The *[Iijutsu • Skin Generation] technique can be held for four (4) posts.

*[Iijutsu • Blood Transfer Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
A simple technique that requires its users to sacrifice a little to save a life, the*[Iijutsu • Blood Transfer Technique] does exactly what its name suggests. To prepare for this procedure, the user must make a small incision into the patient's body and follow by opening a vein. Once the vein has been open, the user will begin to channel chakra into it. Over the course of one (1) post, the patient's blood will gain density and stabilize itself. Users of this technique must be aware that their own blood will dilute over the duration of this technique, as it is essentially transferring blood from their bodies to the patient's. No more than 1 liter (2 pints) of blood can be transferred using this technique without severe repercussions for the user.

*[Iijutsu • Bone Fracture Technique]
C-Ranked Nintaijutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel]
Once the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel] has been activated, users may choose to use this jutsu as an alternative to the aforementioned technique's usual action. When in close range, the user will attempt to jab his/her charged hand at the opponent, seeking to connect with a bone. If successful, the chakra will be released into the opponent's body as a sharp, precise burst to the area of contact, causing the bone to fracture. If this area is struck again in the same spot, the bone will inevitably break. This technique does not harm anything but the bone—not even the skin—and is dispelled after three (3) posts or until contact with the opponent is made. However, since both hands are charged, the user has two chances with this technique per use (one per hand).

*[Iijutsu • Burn Treatment]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique]
A step up in the ability to treat burns, *[Iijutsu • Burn Treatment] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to medium-sized areas of first degree and second degree burns, it's fairly quick to do. For small-sized areas of third degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. This technique is ineffective when applied to larger areas or burns worse than third degree.

*[Iijutsu • Removal Technique]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Blood Clot Technique]
In the event that a foreign object gets lodged into a patient's body, such as the point of shuriken or a senbon, the *[Iijutsu • Removal Technique] can be utilized to retrieve it. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will place them on either side of the wound in question. From here, the medical-nin will carefully manipulate the surrounding tissues by channeling chakra into them, coaxing the foreign object to the surface of the wound in order to extract it. Users of this technique are advised to analyze the severity of the wound beforehand, as more complex wounds will take longer than the one (1) post of concentration needed to extract most objects from superficial to moderate wounds. This technique should be used in conjunction with a tissue regeneration technique or the *[Iijutsu • Blood Clot Technique]. The *[Iijutsu • Removal Technique] can be held for a maximum of four (4) posts.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Perhaps one of the most dangerous and revered Iijutsu honed by medical-nin, the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel] is no precision instrument. After performing the necessary handseals, the user will begin to focus an ample amount of chakra into his/her hands. Once charged with chakra, the user will attempt to place his/her hands on the target. If the user is able to connect the entirety of his/her palm, the chakra will be released into the opponent's body, slicing tissue, organs and veins up to 4 inches from the surface in an area roughly the size of the user's hand. The skin remains unblemished by this technique, as it only causes small to moderate internal wounds. As this technique is dangerous and mostly uncontrolled, the precision needed to kill instantaneously is lost. One of the almighty and most highly coveted abilities of medical-nin, the *[Iijutsu • Mystical Palm] technique allows its users to heal wounds quickly and efficiently. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will place them over the wound in question and begin to channel chakra through it. As the chakra interacts with the cells and tissues in the area, the wound will begin to regenerate and heal over until there's no remnant of it ever being there. Of course, this is not done in the blink of an eye. To heal small-to-moderate wounds, it takes very little time, while large wounds take one (1) post of concentration to mend, and mortal wounds take a total of two (2) posts to fully mend. This technique lasts for four (4) posts, but due to its chakra-extensive nature, users are not advised to treat multiple large wounds in a single use.

This explosion does not kill the mushi as the main danger comes from the force of the mushi's mandibles. This jutsu can help the user spread out the mushi and attach them to a target quickly as well.

After attaching itself, the mushi will then release an abnormal amount of pheromones. The males can only track the female within a three mile radius, and after five posts, the female mushi does not have the chakra to produce excess pheromones and tracking is reduced to 1/2 mile.

The mushi stick with 10 strength to the opponent.

In the case that the target attempts to escape and cannot break the wall, they will be cut up and hurt by the mushi as they whiz by.

After the appropriate hand seals, the Aburame will close both eyes, transferring their vision to their msuhi. This ability relies on the users control, which determines how many insects can be utilized in the technique and how clear the vision is. When large groups of bugs are controlled at once, it distorts the vision considerably. This jutsu lasts up to five posts before having to be redone.
  • 20-25 Control: The user can see through up to five mushi at a time at a total distance of ten meters away. They are capable of making out major details but nothing intricate. Shapes, sense of depth, and size are all easily discernible.
  • 26-30 Control: The user can control up to seven Kikaichū at a time at a total distance of fifteen meters away. When only a few of the insects are controlled at a time (two or three), intricate details can be made out and reading is quite easily accomplished. When more bugs are used, the sight degenerates into that of the basic shapes, distances and size.
  • 31+ Control: The user can control ten Kikaichū at a time at a total of twenty meters away. The sight is relative to that of a person with 20/20 vision at all times with this level of control.

As long as the Aburame keeps their palms to the ground they are able to maintain the swarm underground, and control their movement. When the swarm is at a location the Aburame wants them to burst forth from, they will will burst from the ground at a strength of 25 slicing and penetrating with their mandibles.

After the proper hand seals the Aburame has three mushi crawl to the tip of their pointer finger as they charge them with extra chakra and shoot the three off combined together. This forms a 1 inch bullet that is shot off at a speed of 25 and at a strength of 25. The bullet has the potential to pierce a target as the mushi position themselves so their mandibles strike first tunneling their way into the opponent.

They will then be able to fire up to three total bullet sized balls of concentrated lightning from their fingertips. These bullets will travel at 5 speed, but will not have any physical force. Instead, they will apply light electrical burns similar to a sun burn and will apply Raiton's shocking effect.

This will produce an electric current on the ground in this area visible as crackling lightning on the surface. This current lasts 3 posts, while it ends immediately if the user leaves the area.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user creates two orbs of lightning the size of basketballs slightly above their head. They are then able to direct these orbs at a speed of 10 at their will, however they may not move while doing this. These orbs cannot leave a 40m diameter around the user, and detonate with the power of a single explosive tag each on contact with a solid. These orbs last a maximum of 4 posts, and may be self destructed at any moment in their lifespan at the user's will.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user emits a wave of electricity from their palm in a single direction. This is produced as a 10m wide line which extends 2m into the air and travels up to 25m from the user at 10 speed. The wave will apply the shocking effect and reduce the speed of any living thing it strikes by 5 points for 3 posts by electrically interfering with the brain's nervous signals.

Those caught in the blast will have their speed reduced by 5 points for 2 posts.

The user will first perform the correct hand seals before releasing a basketball sized orb of lightning 15m into the air. The orb will then cascade sheets of lightning down in the shape of a dome over the caster, with a 15m radius. This dome, apart from being exceptionally loud, forms a sort of protection against attacks. It comes into being at 20 speed, and is able to redirect hits of up to 20 strength in a downward direction. These sheets of lightning also serve as a visual obscurity. This technique lasts for up to 3 posts depending on the user's discretion.

Through the use of acupuncture and their knowledge of pressure points, the user is able to quickly apply a series of pricks, leaving the needles in, that dulls pain in localized areas of the body, or even the entire body. This method only isolates pain receptors, not other receptors, allowing someone under the effects of this technique to continue to function. The pain dulling effects will last for up to 5 posts, at which points the needles will have to be removed then replaced.

Shijikonchū Swarm Description: The Shijikonchū are a species of medium, larvae insects that are bred and utilized exclusively by the Aburame family. Individually, shijikonchū are generally between 12mm and 16mm. Mai’s particular Shijikonchū average around 12mm long and are bright shades of blue and purple across their bodies.

Personality: Mai’s Shijikonchū are, as a whole, protective of their partner Aburame, most of them having grown up with her and spent their entire existence with her. They value her above all but will extend this protective nature to others if she deems it necessary, but only at her instruction. There are not many that stand out as individuals, save for three. ‘Dai’ is Mai’s primary partner, the name is more a title given to the male that seems to take charge, or at least the most interest. Often he resides next to Mai’s ear or in her hair, always listening to her instructions and never leaving the woman entirely alone. ‘Kai’ and ‘Koe’, as Mai calls them, are a cooperative pair that Mai often uses for tracking friends or family closer to her, and for healing them. These names also operate more as titles than anything else and while Dai is more like a partner, Kai and Koe are like her right hand ‘men’ (though not always male).

This follows the normal rules of channeling, as it is essentially channeling using the user's shijikonchū as a medium.
History: The original members of the Shijikonchū Swarm of Aburame Mai were born of members of her own mother’s swarm, furthering a deep family connection other than that of clan. Though some have been born into different swarms with differing skillsets, these bugs are from a line that has passed through Mai’s own family, bringing with them a rich heritage and a strong bond of loyalty.
