Akechi, Gendo
General Information
,1
Age:Gender:Height:Weight:Hair:Eyes:
29 Male 6'3" 275 Lbs Bald Blue
DescriptionShow
Gendo is a rotund man. His love of fine foods and wine has ensured he will never be the picture of health or at the height of fashion. His years spent travelling has ensured his skin has a healthy tan and he often shaves his head; a common practice at his former temple though not something all Vrashni followers adhere to. The fat on his face make his already naturally small eyes even smaller, often appearing to be closed rather than actually open; on the occasions that one can see his eyes they are a dark blue that are almost grey in colour.
Clothing/AccessoriesShow
More often than not Gendo can be seen wearing the same clothes he has worn for the last fifteen years; a simple grey kimono top with very baggy sleeves that is bordered in white and held closed by a dark brown obi, a pair of black travelling pants that are white around the calves and finally simple straw sandals that are held in place with red string. The more decorative items he wears include a necklace of very thick beads which rests over a pink scarf that is more often than not wrapped around his neck. Finally, he wears two rope belts; the first is thick, pink, and serves to carry the large pot often seen on his back. The second is thinner and covered with decorative beads, usually holding a bottle of wine or water.

PersonalityShow
Cast out of the only place he has ever known as home, Gendo has spent the majority of his adult life wandering the world. He has seen firsthand the destructive practices of soldiers and ninja and, despite being excommunicated from his order, he continues to practice the ways of Vrashni and believe in peace over anger. Knowing that the world is filled with all kinds of wrong, he does what he can to make the world around him a better place in small ways; he practices instruments and the arts, encourages the youth around him and can almost always be seen with a calm, gentle smile on his face. He isn't above his vices however, enjoying food and drink and smoking far more than a monk should, often going out of his way to get these finer things when visiting a village or city. He also isn't above what he considers to be harmless ploys; using his status as a monk to 'cleanse' bad omens and dark spirits which are in fact the butterflies that constantly follow him around in order to gain favour among the locals.

During his wanderings, his own personal omen has continually grown stronger, a sign that what he did during his youth may be beginning to weaken the other seals guarded by the main Vrashni temples of worship. Gendo's current goal in life is to travel to each temple and ensure that the seals that keep the Cardinal Omens intact remain that way. The only problem with that goal is that each and every Vrashni temple is aware of his excommunication from the order and is just as likely to kill him on sight as they are to let him anywhere near the sacred seals.
HistoryShow
Gendo does not remember life before the temple; his earliest memories are of being taught the ways of Vrashni, of being raised among his brother monks, and of being lectured for hours on end about his constant stealing of extra food. In his youth he was a clumsy fool and was often assigned punishments in the form of cleaning the temple floors or tending to the temple gardens whenever he broke a plate or spilt his water. On one such occasion he wasn't paying attention and while cleaning the floors ending up going into a room that, for as long as Gendo had been at the temple, was always closed and sealed by lock and key. Inside he stumbled upon one of the elder monks fervently trying to open a large pot in the middle of room stood upon a dais and surrounded by fire pits. The noise of Gendo entering was apparently enough to draw the monk's ire, whom Gendo later figured out was trying to steal the pot and its contents, and was attacked. In his attempt to escape, Gendo threw the mop he had been using at the monk who dodged it and in doing do the mop hit the pot. A single crack was placed along the side, nothing a little clay couldn't easily fix. The grey miasma that spewed forth from the crack and consumed the elder monk however wasn't quite so fixable.

From the pot poured an army of butterflies, coming in a pale shade of grey with no markings. They swarmed around the stupefied Gendo until they began to force their way into his mouth. Being choked to death by whatever it was that he had accidently released, Gendo passed out only to find that instead of death he was greeted by voices. Thousands upon thousands of voices. All swearing eternal loyalty to their saviour. When he awoke, Gendo was outside the temple walls with the pot next to him and a note nearby. It read

'Akechi Gendo, you have slain a brother and broken an ancient seal guarding the world from the Cardinal Omens. You are hereby excommunicated from this order and are banished from all Vrashni temples.'

He later found out they had tried to kill him; the butterflies that he had thought were trying to do the same job had actually protected him from the monks and prevented any of them from getting closer than a few feet. Since that time Gendo has wandered the world, forever on the move. During the initial years, his Omens attacked without thought, letting nothing come near him. No human, no animals, even suspect plantlife was decimated by the voracious butterflies. As time passed they began to react more to his emotional state and his desires, despite the fact Gendo hated them. Their minds became as one, the swarm reacting to even the slightly motion from Gendo in a way that could only be described as telepathic.

No more than a year or two before the current date, Gendo had a run in with a Vrashni practioner from one of the temples in the North. Upon seeing the Omen he carried, the man attempted to kill him, fearing that Gendo was going to try and break the other seals. After his Omen defended his life, Gendo had to fight to control them and keep them from killing the man, forcing them back into their pot. Apparently, the seals had been weakening for years. Twelve years; the exact amount of time he had been wandering the world, the exact amount of time that had passed since he had first accidently broken the seal of the Western Omen.

Gendo decided to set out after that meeting and visit every Vrashni temple he could find; he had no idea which temples held the other seals and it was his duty to prevent them from being broken in repetency of his original sin.

Sacred Seal of the West:
The Sacred Seal of the West is a large clay pot, half a meter tall and 15cm in radius at its widest point. Emblazoned with the many marks of the setting sun and images of the Wisdom of the West, this pot serves as the home of the Omen in the West; a swarm of grey butterflies that, when grouped together, cover a 50ft3 area. The unique factor of the pot is in the way it was made, using ancient techniques of chakra and sealing known only to the elder monks of Vrashni, it can contain the swarm in its entirety. Tapping on the pot while the lid is off results in a discordant boom akin to thunder which calls the swarm to its confines.

[Omen of Disturbance]
D-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to all flap their wings at once, causing a large wind storm that picks up dust, loose stones, and other environmental hazards to create a dust storm that covers an area equal to Sync/5 meters3 at a speed of 5 that lingers for 3 posts before the dust settles again.

[Omen of Safety]
D-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to swarm around an incoming projectile, using their collective strength to stop it before it can reach its target. For each projectile the swarm attempts to stop, the effective strength of the swarm is divided.

[Omen of Perception]
D-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to spread out over a large area equal to Sync in meters. Anything that enters this area will trigger a chain reaction among the butterflies, resulting in a message reaching Gendo of any detected presences at a speed of 5.

[Omen of Deception]
D-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to form together into a set of 3 vaguely humanoid figures; their natural pale grey colouration making the formation look almost like a walking ghost. These 'clones' only have a 1 in each stat, however they are capable of physically interacting with the environment, moving up to Sync*2 meters from Gendo and can maintain the configuration for [Sync/10] posts before they must return.

[Omen of Protection]
D-Rank Sync Technique
Should Gendo or his swarm ever percieve Gendo's life to be in direct danger, the link between himself and his butterflies will call the swarm to protect him, swarming around whatever is attacking him in an attempt to both protect Gendo and destroy the threat.

[Omen of Captivity]
C-Rank Sync Technique
Prerequisite: [Omen of Perception]
Upon receiving the warning of an impending threat through his butterflies, Gendo will direct his swarm to where the signal originally came from at which point they will rapidly fly around whatever triggered the original 'ping' so long as they are still within 10 meters of the original position.

[Omen of Fear]
C-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to rapidly fly around a 5m radius perimeter, encasing whatever is within and blocking out any sources of light. This formation prevents anyone from leaving that doesn't have the strength to defeat the swarm and while they will not attack whatever is within, contact with the wall of butterflies results in their poison being transferred whomever touched them.

[Omen of Life]
C-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies back into their pot. In the event that the swarm has lost any of its number, they rapidly breed within the confines of their home and given the unique nature of their breed new larvae become full grown Omen Butterflies. During this time Gendo cannot use his swarm. This restores them at a rate of 5 feet 3 per post for 5 posts.

[Omen of Eclipse]
C-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to link together and create a sheet that measures 50m in length and width. This sheet then hovers above Gendo, preventing any light sources that are above, such as the sun, from getting through and enshrouding the entire area in darkness.

[Omen of Illusion]
C-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to form together into a set of 10 vaguely humanoid figures; their natural grey colouration making the formation look almost like a walking ghost. These 'clones' only have a 1 in each stat, however they are capable of physically interacting with the environment, moving up to Sync*2 meters from Gendo and can maintain the configuration for [Sync/5] posts before they must return.

[Omen of Collapse]
B-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to gather underneath a target, pushing them upwards into the sky at a speed of 20. At the height of their climb, 30m into the air, the butterflies will let go of the target and let it crash back into the ground before driving downwards and pummelling it once more.

[Omen of Steel]
B-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm to dive bomb an area at a speed of 20, covering an area equal to the swarm. Upon impact the butterflies wings are akin to steel, allowing the butterflies to cut at a Strength of 20 instead of relying on blunt force damage or their poison.

[Omen of Disruption]
B-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs a few butterflies from his swarm to float lazily around the head of his intended target, appearing as little more than average butterflies. Should the target attempt to move, make hand seals, or swat them away, the butterflies will attempt to fly into the mouth of the target, using the rash generated from its poisonous wings to gain entry.

[Omen of Creation]
B-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs his swarm to create a construct of any shape or size so long as it remains within the confines of the limits of the swarm's size. Once erected this construct can maintain its form for [Sync/5] posts, though any strike of more than 20 strength will cause it to collapse.

[Omen of Demise]
A-Rank Sync Technique
Prerequisite: 30 Sync
Gendo directs his swarm of butterflies to all flap their wings at once, causing the scales on their wings to flake and spread over an area equal to Sync/5 meters3 at a speed of 30 the only lingers for a 1 post. Anything caught within this cloud will then be covered in a thin layer of venomous scales, resulting in rashes, and accelerating their poisoned stage by a single post.

[Omen of Death]
A-Rank Sync Technique
Gendo directs a portion of his swarm of butterflies to go directly for the mouth of the intended victim. These butterflies push against the mouth of the target with 30 strength until they are either forced away or gain entrance. The swarm then flies inside and sheds their poisonous scales, accelerating the rate the target is poisoned by 3 posts.

Omen in the West
Description: The Omen in the West are a species of butterfly that lack any markings, being entirely grey in colouration. Their unique mutation grants them venomous scales that make up their wings; contact with these scales causes them to flake and pass on the poison through touch rather than the butterfly having to be consumed as in the case of the Monarch Butterfly.
Personality: An omen of death, chaos, and of the end of the world; the Omen in the West butterflies are remarkably loyal for what they represent. While they cannot truly speak, they can communicate with Gendo on a level that supersedes speech. Their loyalty is such that they would protect Gendo from any perceived threat even at the cost of their lives.
Rank: S-Rank
Skills
Poison Powder
The Omen in the West evolved not to be dangerous to eat but to have venomous scales that easily flake and regrow. Simple skin contact is enough for the scales to begin affecting whatever they touch, causing rapidly evolving health problems should the butterflies remain in contact:
  • 1 Post: Contact results in the poison beginning to pass into the system of the affected victim, though with no apparent symptoms other than an itchy rash in the area contacted.
  • 3 Posts: The poison begins to move further into victim's body, causing a tenseness of the chest and lungs, making it increasingly difficult to breath depending on their stamina stat. 1-5 Stamina will begin to choke to death, 6-15 Stamina will find breathing painful, 16-25 Stamina will find breathing to be a nuisance, and 26+ Stamina won't have many problems.
  • 5 Posts: Continued contact causes the poison the reach the lungs of the victim; as they begin to seize the victim will find it ever more difficult to breath; 1-5 Stamina will die due to their lungs seizing and a lack of oxygen, 6-15 Stamina will begin choking to death, 16-25 Stamina will find breathing painful, and 26+ Stamina will find breathing to be a nuisance.
  • 7 Posts: At this point those with less than 16 Stamina will die. 16-25 Stamina will pass out, and 26+ Stamina will begin to choke to death.
  • 10 Posts: At this point even the most hardy of constitutions will suffocate to death.
The poison in their scales however is only short lived. Unless constantly applied by repeated attacks, it only lasts in the system of the victim for 2 posts, at which point their system will fight off any infection.

Tsukishima, Hiro

General Information
Type: Henchman
Gender: Male
Age: 47
Appearance:
  • Face/head: As a result of becoming one with the Omen in the North, Hiro has distinctly inhuman traits; most prominently his long, hooked nose and his orange skin. Hiro's once calm, kind brown eyes are now a bright and piercing orange and his mouth is in a perpetual frown, physically incapable of properly smiling. While it is often hidden under his hood, Hiro's hair has also vanished to be replaced by black and brown feathers.
  • Body: Hiro's skin is a dull orange and rough to the touch, akin to a bird's skin. Along the undersides and back of his arms are feathers, dull grey and brown in colour, and kept pressed close to his back are a pair of fully functioning wings. His fingernails are permanently grown out into dark purple talons that, while they appear menacing, are no sharper or stronger than normal human fingernails. His height, 6'8", combined with his lack of body fat or muscle, weighing only 111 lbs, gives him a gangly, awkward look that is most prominent when he walks. Part of his lack of weight comes from having hollow bones.

Hiro most often wears flowing robes of purple and black that have an open back, complete with a white pom-pom sash, and a heavy black hood to help cover his mutated appearance. Perhaps the most distinct piece of clothing he wears are the large wooden geta that add an extra six inches to his standing height, only adding to his gangly appearance.
HiroShow
Personality:
  • General: Hiro is a weary man who has been forced to once again take up arms after giving up a life of violence. He tries to see the best in people but often finds himself doubting their intentions, double guessing his own intuitions, and can often get caught in a loop of whether he should trust other people or never trust them again. His faith is one of necessity rather than of true belief; every day he says his prayers in the hopes of feeling something and yet he feels no overwhelming comfort from the gods, no sense of purpose from fulfilling his duties as a monk. And while he loathes fighting, having lost his only son to the violence of war, it is often the only time he feels truly alive especially since merging with the Omen in the North.
  • Hopes/Dreams: To one day be free of his most recent curse in a long string of curses, to find peace with himself and the world around him through the religion of Vrashni.
  • Fears: Only ever being able to find peace in battle.
  • Combat Mentality: Hiro is ruthlessly efficient in combat. Once a shinobi of Kumo, he specialized in the use of Genjutsu to swiftly use the fears and weaknesses of his opponents against them. Since becoming the host of the Omen in the North, he has begun to combine the use of his Genjutsu with the natural warlike tendencies of the spirit, turning allies against each other and letting them do battle instead of simply ending the fight quickly.

Abilities and Concentrations
Abilities
Halfblood In order to prevent the Omen in the North from escaping and causing havoc through Lightning Country and the rest of the World, Hiro had the beast sealed into him in order to keep it secure, though something went wrong and instead of the spirit being sealed within Hiro the two beings fused, creating a half-human, half-spirit. This is akin to permanent possession, meaning Shizumeru doesn't work on him except for the spirit banishment techniques, which knock him unconscious if the rank used exceeds his Control, 20 for B, 25 for A, and so on, and he appears as a Spirit to Tenkujutsu sensory techniques.

As part human, part spirit, Hiro can access the greater powers of the Omen in the North and use them as his own. Predominately are the physical changes; his skin is rough like leather to the touch which makes it a little hardier and his toes and fingers all end in sharp pointed talons instead of normal human nails. A large pair of wings sprout from his shoulder blades which he can control as easily as any of his limbs. These wings are the Fans of War and as such have a durability equal to Hiro's Stamina stat and Hiro can detach and then control the individual feathers as if he had Kinesis over them, using his Control as their speed and strength of movement out to a range of (Control*2) meters. The feathers of these wings grow back as quickly as they are removed, though taking damage from an outside source requires more time to grow back.

*[Kushou・Low Wind Rising]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Stance
The foundational stance of the Kushou style, Low Wind Rising involves the spinning of the user’s spear or polearm around their body constantly whilst remaining in motion. While in this stance, the user will be able to deflect projectiles with less strength than their own, while also making unpredictable movements of their spear.

*[Kushou・The Swallow Takes Flight]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
The user will vault themselves into the air using their polearm and then unleash a powerful blow from above. This technique is used to disorient and surprise foes as well as overpower them as it strikes with all of the user’s body weight and momentum from the spin they perform in the air in order to strike with the spear that was touching the ground moments before.

*[Kushou・The Courtier Taps his Fan]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
This simple technique involves proper use of the pole of the user’s weapon to deflect blows. By properly angling and manoeuvring their spear or staff they can deflect other like weapons, hand to hand blows or even sword blows by striking the right place at the right time, even while in motion.

*[Kushou・The Viper Flicks its Tongue]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
This simple technique involves thrusting quickly with the user’s long weapon from a distance before quickly pulling back their polearm to prevent counters. This technique's most useful aspect is that it can be used while in motion without affecting speed or momentum.

*[Kushou・Twisting the Wind]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: * Kushou・Low Wind Rising
This is the core technique of the Kushou Style. The user will begin in the Low Wind Rising stance and then approaches their opponent. They will begin with a wide arcing blow to begin this combination of blows. Following this they will spin their polearm and their body as they follow their opponent across the battlefield, chasing them down as they block and evade. This technique takes the user’s entire post, and can strike a number of times equal to half their speed. Those who block more than one blow will suffer a -3 to Taijutsu for 3 posts as the weapon’s momentum and force jars their body.

*[Kushou・The Swallow Rides the Wind]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: * Kushou・The Swallow Takes Flight
The user of this technique must first launch themselves high into the air as if with The Swallow Takes Flight. They will then begin to spin and unleash a flurry of blows from above. The user is capable of performing up to three strikes in the air, each of them prolonging the user’s airtime. The Swallow Rides the Wind is useful as it maintains the advantageous high ground and all of the forward momentum toward the opponent throughout all of its blows, giving the user an effective +6 Strength and -6 Taijutsu for the three blows.

*[Kushou・Bundling Straw]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 15 Instinct
This technique is a kind of mental preparation for the constant movement and spinning involved in the Kushou style. This enables the user to gather snippets of vision, sounds and tactile sensory information in order to be properly aware of the battlefield around them whether standing still or in rapid circular motion. The user is effectively aware of their surroundings within Instinct/3m of their person, able to recognise when attacks are coming and the body positions of opponents.

*[Kushou・Watered Silk]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
The user of this technique will strike the ground with one end of their weapon hard, dragging it in a line. This will fling a cloud of dirt, rock and dust up into their opponent’s eyes as if the user had thrown it. The use of one end of their weapon in this enables the immediate return of the opposite end for a follow up strike at either a blinded opponent or an opponent that is quite predictably dodging the debris.

*[Kushou・Threading the Needle]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
After either blocking an opponent’s strike or having one of their strikes blocked, the user will flick their weapon. Using their great leverage and range to their advantage, the user is able to skilfully dart their weapon around the opponent’s existing guard for a quick thrust at their opponent providing their Taijutsu is greater than the opponent’s.

*[Kushou・Whirlwind on the Mountain]
A-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerquisite: * Kushou・Twisting the Wind
The user of this technique begins a relentless onslaught upon an opponent. They take a moment to prepare their legs before dashing forward. This technique is used to pursue opponents and wear them down with repeated spinning attacks. Opponents with a speed lower than the user’s will find it difficult to safely move away from the user while they pursue them. Those that block or are hit by two or more blows will have their Taijutsu reduced by 6 because of the jarring nature of the blows for 6 posts.

After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will shake his staff and cause the rings to chime. Anyone who hears this will see thick clouds form up around them, reducing visibility to only a few feet in front of them for the duration. This technique lasts for 4 posts or until dispelled.

[Bogeyman Cometh]
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will tap his staff to the ground. Anyone who hears this will begin hearing discordant whispers as if coming from over their shoulder and right into their ear. The words always vary and only two or three can be made out but are always to the effect of causing unease. This technique lasts for 4 posts or until dispelled.

[Paranoid]
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will point indiscriminately. Should the target see the pointing motion, they'll be captured in this genjutsu. For the following 4 posts, the target will see a shadow in the corner of their eyes, constantly shifting out of view when they attempt to look at it.

[You're Next]
D-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will make a slicing motion across his neck. If the target sees this motion, it will trigger the illusion. This genjutsu causes the victim to feel as though their muscles in their arms are tensing and loosening out of their control, a possible reaction to fear even if they don't feel afraid. The genjutsu lasts for 4 posts or until dispelled.

*[Doubt]
C-Rank Status Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then whistle, initiating the genjutsu in anyone who hears the whistle. For the next 3 posts, the victims of this technique will feel tinges of doubt when listening to other people talk. While the doubt isn't strong, it creates a slight feeling that can be used to dissuade them from following instructions of other people if utilized properly.

[Fear The Hoard]
C-Rank Warp Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will tap his staff to the ground. Anyone who hears this will hear a war-horn as if being carried on the wind and the sound of a large number of heavy hoofbeats getting closer. A wave of fear will accompany the sound of the war-horn, which sounds once per post for the duration, growing louder each time. This technique lasts for 4 posts or until dispelled.

[Troop Movements]
C-Rank Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will shake his staff and cause the rings to chime. Anyone who hears this will, for the duration, hear a random direction instead of the one given. The word 'Left' could become 'Right' or 'Forward' could become 'Down', etc. This technique lasts for 3 posts or until dispelled.

[Mirror Mirror]
B-Rank Warp Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will initiate this genjutsu by making direct eye contact with his target. The target's vision will become distorted for a moment before righting itself, though after which the world be in reverse. To the victim's vision, left will become right, up will become down, and forward will become backwards; all of this is compounded by the target's sense of balance being manipulated to believe this is correct. This Genjutsu lasts for 3 posts unless dispelled.

[Enemies Abound]
B-Rank Warp Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will tap his staff to the ground. Anyone who hears this will begin to see the faces of people they distrust or even hate in place of their allies along with a whisper from just over their shoulder telling them all the bad things they've ever done. This illusion is accompanied by a sense of general distrust and aggression, encouraging them to act on their urges against this new foe. This technique lasts for 4 posts or until dispelled.

[Monk's Respite]
A-Rank Status Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will shake his staff and cause the rings to chime. Anyone who hears this will begin to feel drowsy, those with at least 10 Genjutsu will realize what is happening and be able to Kai the technique. Anyone who fails to do this before the end of the post will fall asleep at the end of it.

*[Shizumeru • Voice of Spirits]
C-Rank Tenkujutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will place his hand upon the head of a being or an object currenting inhabited by a spirit. By channelling the chakra into the being or object, Hiro creates a link that allows him to telepathically converse with the spirit within.

[Shizumeru • Exorcist • Lesser Spirit Removal Method]
C-Rank Tenkujutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Hiro will place his hand against a person or object currently possessed by a spirit with a Lesser Soul or lower. If contact is maintained for the entire post, the spirit will be forcibly dispelled at the beginning on the next round. If used on a Joruri, this technique will destroy the item.

History Once a shinobi of Kumogakure, after losing his son, Tadashi, to the events of the Civil War in Lightning Country, he hung up his forehead protector and practiced the peaceful religion of Vrashni, seeking out a temple in which he could find his peace. There Hiro spent the last several years praying for guidance from both the East, looking for new purpose and new meaning in life, and sought the Wisdom of the West, praying that his son had found peace and that his own end would eventually come. In those years he grew restless and found the need to move, winding up in the North Temple. Hiro became known among the temple as a former ninja, his skills in combat often apparent when the monks trained their bodies to keep pace with their minds, and he became a guard for the temples most sacred duty; the protection of the Vault.

While he had sought new meaning in life, some new purpose, he had retired as a ninja and left Kumo specifically because he wished to avoid more violence, more bloodshed. His new duty as one of three Guardians of the Vault only served to ensure he would be further subject to war and death. Within the first week of his new duties he felt it; the presence that was within the Vault. The great iron doors were never opened, sealed shut by a force greater than Hiro understood or could ever hope to overcome, but he knew that whatever was within was even more powerful and far more terrifying. Feelings of distrust began to manifest in him, doubt that he would ever find a purpose outside of war, that this was his punishment for failing his son.
