DOBU, TACHI
“Archery Kid”

[Bullseye!]

General Information Age: 16
Gender: Male
Height: 5’9
Weight: 130 lbs
Physical Features:
  • Face/head: Tachi has a slightly narrow face. His thick eyebrows put an emphasis on his light blue eyes. He has a thin mouth but a thick nose. His forehead seems a bit large, with his eyes looking a bit lower than they should be. This is typically covered up by his hair, which he typically styles by having some of it in a mid-sized bun. There is still enough for him to have long bangs, which he parts to the right.
  • Body: Tachi’s skinny-lean. His skin tone is lightly colored. He’s muscular enough for slight definition to be shown, though he’s nothing to stare at. His arms are the best part about him, with a bit more muscle built there than around the rest of his body. His body is mostly scar-free (with a few large lines here and there), though his hands became calloused from working with weapons all the time.
Clothing/Accessories: Typically, when on and off missions, Tachi will wear a black top that looks very similar to a robe. It stops just below the waist, and fits a bit tighter to his skin. With that, he wears a pair of matching black shorts. These are very open at the legs and are a bit baggy, and go down to his knees. On these shorts are a variety of pouches (an arrow pouch, a senbon pouch, and a kunai pouch), and on Tachi’s back is his quiver and accompanying bag.
  • Tachi has a bow that's 5' exactly which can fold at two points to become 20 inches long. He has a strap along his back for this bow.

Tachi has another bow which is only 4'. It folds the same way, only becoming 16 inches when folded, and it fits into his quiver.
Personality:
  • General: Tachi is still in the process of losing his laid-back personality and adapting to the strict code of Kiri. This switch can be shown at times but what appear to be mood swings. He can go from being very fun to very serious, from very lazy to very motivated, and from very calm to very hostile. It seems he himself is still figuring out who he is as a person, so until he does, he is quite unpredictable to be around. He’s very aware of his moods, and being the nice kid that he is, will often apologize when it causes him to do something wrong.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Tachi has a few goals in life, all of them revolve around improving himself. He wants to first understand who he is as a person. This is important for him, but it may just be the weird position mixed with his age causing his strange personality. If that is the case, then he needs to find a way to be patient until he’s all figured out.

Tachi also wants to become a better overall ninja for the village. He wants to change his mind, body, and soul to be geared towards Kiri. He has short-term goals of improving his fighting ability to be one of the best genin taijutsu users in the village, rivaling a Dagger. For the mind aspect, not only does he want to become incredibly sharper, but he wants to continue training his brain into becoming a well-oiled combat machine. He has started to by training it to focus, but he knows he’s nowhere near completion. For soul, he wants to be able to dedicate his life to the village like the code says so. There’s a part of him who would not be willing to give his life up for Kiri, and until he can, he won’t be truly happy with himself.
  • Fears: Tachi has doubts about ever being as selfless as he should be as a Hidden Mist Ninja. His biggest fear is being discovered as a traitor, or becoming a traitor due to his lack of complete dedication to the village. Currently, if he was pitted between death or dishonor, he would pick the latter, which he understands is unacceptable.
  • Combat Mentality: Currently, Tachi is pretty much a one-trick pony, with that one-trick being archery. He can shoot arrows from bows. While looking to expand on that in the future, right now he hopes to avoid direct fighting, or at the very least have someone there to help him out in a closer encounter so that he can stand back and fire from a distance.

Suiton:
Suiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Suiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Suiton affinity. Suiton has a passive enveloping effect.
Passive (Enveloping)Show
Suiton's effect is enveloping, meaning that suiton passively surrounds anything that it makes contact with. Suiton techniques that do not last over periods of times (i.e, exploding techniques) drench their opponents, but long term techniques will envelop anything they come in contact with and maintain a hold on it with the 3/4th strength of the technique, rounded down. This means that if a suiton wave is shot forward with 17 strength, it will envelope and move anything with it that does not have more than 12 strength to resist it. This allows Suiton to fill a very powerful role in eliminating tools from opponent's access and capturing targets.

Flawless Aim Style:
This style of combat is favored by specialists preferring to use projectiles, often serving as a staple for taijutsu-based projectile users. Focusing on the synergy between their hands and senses they strive to make their reach as far as possible with flawless aim.
Requires [Projectile Weaponry] and [Upper Body] concentrations
Flawless AimShow
D-RankShow
*[Flawless Aim Style • Sentinel Stance]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
A stable and steady stance practiced by nearly all wishing to use projectiles. At this stage they are planted and focusing on their arms and shoulders, moving in smooth motions to mitigate unnecessary movements that may ruin their aim.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Multi-shot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner is able to knock multiple arrows upon a single shot, loosing all of them simultaneously. Their accuracy suffers from this, taking a cumulative -2 Strength for each additional shot.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Arcing Shot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner is able to shoot in arcs up and over most obstacles, being able to accurately hit a target that is behind obstructions as if they were in the open. Granted, they must know of their target’s location or have another means of detecting them.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Tracking]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
This allows the user to hit a moving target so long as it is moving in a way predictable to the user. They must still take into account travel time, and sudden changes in path will still affect the outcome.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Rapid Shot]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The user will hold multiple projectiles in their hands to reduce the amount of time needed between each shot. When required they can quickly and fluidly draw more projectiles and keep up a steady stream of attacks. However, while utilizing this Stance the users feet must be planted, limiting the range of their assault, and their ability to be mobile while using it.
C-RankShow
*[Flawless Aim Style • Ricochet Shot]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
By launching their shot at the proper angle the practitioner is capable of bouncing their projectile off solid surfaces without losing accuracy. Any surface they bounce off causes the projectile to lose ⅕ of its impact strength and soft or uneven surfaces are impossible to bounce off.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Hidden Shot]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
By releasing two projectiles back to back the user attempts to create a decoy for the second. The first projectile is often larger or of equal size and the second is slightly behind and below it, usually attempting to hide in the first’s shadow. This masks the attack to some degree. However, perceptive opponents who have an instinct greater than the user’s tai may be able to see through the charade, provided they have means to do so.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Twisting Path]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
By adding a spin to the weapon before it is launched the user is able to give the it a warping motion as it flies through the air. With much practice, the user is able to predict the weapon’s shifting motion and aim accordingly. This can be used to hit a target that is hiding behind another person or object, and is especially useful against a human shield.

*[Flawless Aim Style • Improvised Ammo]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The practitioner knows their own reliance on ammunition thus emphasizes never being caught without. With the right technique they are fully capable of launching nearly anything, so long as it possesses at least the mass of a standard kunai, they could otherwise throw or shoot as if it were designed to do so in the first place. Unfortunately, this has an impact on the strength of the impact in the form of a -3 strength.
The Mind of Tachi:
With his mind by far being the greatest tool, Tachi has made sure to train it to be the best it always can be. In doing so, he has disciplined himself in a variety of ways.
The Mind of TachiShow
Stealth: Requires: Stealth
StealthShow
[Stealth isn’t Comfortable]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Tachi has trained himself to stay still in a variety of locations, including hanging off of tree limbs and leaning off of walls. This allows him to maintain his position, despite how uncomfortable or unnatural it may be. This does not permit him to be in a position that would cause major pain to him (as opposed to kinks in his neck and annoying aches in his body, which this technique will allow for).

[Stay Still, Shut Up]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
One important lesson Tachi learned from his days at the Hidden Mist academy was that stealth is important to any long-range fighter. Through hard work, Tachi has learned to instinctively quiet his breathing upon and shush any noise he would otherwise make when standing still. This only works if he is completely still, not moving his arms or legs at all.
Focus!
FocusShow
[You’re Not Getting Away!]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Tachi understands that enemy nin have many tricks to try getting him to lose his target. When aiming his arrows, he will be able to withstand nearly all distractions in order to focus in on a target. Unless the target completely exits Tachi’s line of sight, he won’t be distracted when lining up an arrow or other attack. The downfall with this is that when focusing, Tachi will oftentimes become too focused. He can only ‘focus’ on one enemy at a time, so while he will not be distracted by others, he will not be able to concentrate on them an equal amount.

History
Historical AccountsShow
Tachi is a bit of an oddity. Born to Midori and Yamata Dobu, Tachi grew up in the Shinobi district of Kirigakure. His parents, both successful but not too-well known ninja operated a weapons shop out of their home. Being surrounded by shinobi all of his life, Tachi knew he would grow up to go to a shinobi academy and try his hand at becoming a ninja. Rather than train as a child to try entering the academy at an earlier age, Tachi spent his free days playing around in the shop. While some of what he did provided a basis for what he learned (such as shooting arrows at a target), his playing kept him from getting serious about becoming a shinobi. Being the only child, his parents had different thoughts about him staying at home for years longer than he should have. Midori, a very strict and patriotic woman, tried pressuring him and guilting him into getting into the academy every day past the age of 10. Yamata on the other hand knew that Tachi would leave at some point, and the more time Tachi could spend at home, the better.

It was when Tachi’s mother suffered an injury in the field that he decided to finally pursue the field. After an encounter with a few enemies of the village, one of her legs was broken in multiple places. It doesn’t take too long for medical-nin to fix it, but during the time she had it, she wielded it like a trophy. Flashing her leg wherever she went. The pride she had for it made Tachi finally sign up for the academy.

At the academy, he focused mostly on his skills in archery. The days of playing around at his parent’s shop had proven to help him. After becoming more serious about archery, he decided to pursue a style focused on taijutsu. The rough academy days helped him mold himself into a successful fighter, despite not quite being the strongest or the fastest. His wit and ability to wield a bow were able to get him through the academy.
