Oda Aburame

[Carve your own path!]

General Information Age: 12
Gender: Male.
Height:  139 cm.
Weight: 89 lbs.
Physical Features:   Oda’s not what you would expect from a boy his age. While his stature is small and his body smaller, there’s something almost refined and mature about him. Perhaps another one of his most notable features is his femininity- it’s not uncommon for others to think he is of the opposite gender. He dresses as a Aburame, but seems like quite the opposite.
  • Face/head: The most prominent thing about Oda is his face. His face almost seems like a porcelain doll- fragile and sculpted. Despite being young, he gives off the aura of a teenage girl. Speaking of girls, Oda's feminine nature stems mostly from his incredibly feminine face. His features are pointed and sleek, and his facial features seem as if they were perfectly placed there to replicate the look of a woman. Such an appearance isn't helped by his deep green eyes, who glitter with a sense of wisdom, but which hold none. The constant smile on Oda's face might betray his mischievous intentions were you to look close enough, but at the very least, he's pleasant to look at.

Oda's hair is one of his most prized possessions. It's a lighter shade of brown than usual- almost red, were the light to hit it just right. It's smooth and silky, and is clearly taken care of very well. Two sideburn-like bangs hang down and frame his face- both are wrapped with a type silk. The front portion of his hair falls over his headband like bangs, though they're parted down the middle to show the iconic image of the Hidden Leaf. The rest of his hair is pulled back into a neat ponytail. Oda's hair is perfectly sculpted- like the rest of his face,- to look effeminate and weak. He thinks himself to be rather pretty for a man, and rightfully so. On the bridge of his nose rests the signature Aburame tinted sunglasses- though, unlike the others in his clan, he doesn't wear them over his eyes- he keeps them pushed up or on the bridge of his nose. Just another small tidbit in his rebellion.

  • Body: Oda’s got a slim and slender body, with creamy white skin. As to be expected of an Aburame, who hides their body constantly, his body lacks any sort of exposure to the sun. His muscles aren’t very well developed, and thus, he has no exceptional strength. However, his hands and arms are well defined, showing a deftness and agility plain for all to see. It’s easy to see why he’s such a good prankster- his lithe and slender body is perfect for maneuvering around tight spaces and leaping through the air at high speeds.

More notable, perhaps, is his abundance of tattoos. Not just any tattoos, though- Funninjutsu tattoos. They're all over him and on his clothes- he thinks that their use is unparalleled. On the underside of both his arms lay a storage seal tattoo- on the palms of his hands lay another one. The top of both of his arms have three each, traveling upwards in a parallel line. His largest one, though, is on his stomach- the large tattoo nearly covers the whole thing. This one, unlike the rest which are filled with weapons, is filled with water.
  • Notable Features: His face and feminine appearance. Both are incredibly telling of him. He believes that having the ability to look both a man and a woman would be immensely useful in espionage missions as a shinobi, and also, a very excellent tool used in playing pranks.  Oda’s loves unorthodox and underhanded tactics- his appearance is just another tool at his disposal.

Clothing/Accessories:

The most notable accessory on Oda is his tinted glasses. It's a telltale sign of his Aburame lineage. If one were to look at the light cream cloak he wore, they would again be convinced of the house in which he came from. Underneath the large, baggy cloak, he wears a blue hoodie with black trimmings for the stiches. A belt-like object surrounds his waist, and small pocket-like pouches hang off from either side. The hoodie is sleeveless, but Oda wears baggy pyramid-like sleeves that start just after his shoulder and reach his wrists, albeit with about 10 cm of extra fabric hanging loosely from where the sleeve ends.

His pants consist of tight black shorts, which reveal his long stockings that he wears on his legs. The top of the stocking, by his thigh, contains more pouches, although they are usually empty. He goes for the open-toed style shoes of most Shinobi. His Konoha headband rests on his forehead, and rarely ever leaves there.

Personality:
  • General:  In line with the rest of him, Oda is not what you would expect him to be.

The best word, perhaps, to describe his personality, would be evasive. Speaking to Oda is almost like pulling teeth. It’s nearly impossible to know what he’s thinking- to know if his feelings are real, and he’s upset- or if he’s just pulling your leg. Speaking of leg-pulling, if you hang around Oda too often, your leg might well be ripped from it’s socket from the amount of leg-pulling that he does on a daily basis. Children are childish- it’s a part of the job description. But Oda? No, he’s much more than childish. You can feel pity and sympathy for a child- they don’t know any better. But there’s something clearly off about Oda’s childish disposition. As if he was faking it. If he doesn’t get what he wants, he’ll sob crocodile tears- then, as if sucking them straight back into his face, make a full recovery seconds later. The mental gymnastics that Oda does on a daily basis would win him a gold medal.

Such a person wouldn’t be one who should be fit for a Shinobi. However, there’s one thing that sets Oda apart from his fellow  boy-children- His cleverness. He’s extremely clever- not wise, not intelligence, but his cleverness. He can think things through like no-one else- his pranks aren’t simple ding-dong-ditches- they’re full-on multi-layered schemes. He tends to brag about this point.. A lot. In fact, it’s what he’s most proud of, and what drives his aggravating personality. He hates people being more clever than him- he acts the way he does because he can, not because he needs to. He acts the way he does to make others feel small in comparison to him, to make them think that he’s always somehow one-upping them mentally. On the flip side, when faced with an adult or someone in a position of power- Oda is nothing but a little angel. To a man who knew both of his faces, nothing could be worse to watch.

Perhaps most interestingly is Oda’s rebellious nature. While he may suck up to his superiors- he doesn’t value them much at all. Oda hates tradition. He thinks that hanging on to old meaningless things can only have negative consequences- thus, Oda is a subtle rule-breaker- he does what he wants to do. You could say that he walks through life by the back routes- unorthodox methods and strange plans are his forté.

Despite being an Aburame, perhaps most interestingly is Oda’s dislike of bugs. You would think that someone who was surrounded by bugs constantly would grow to tolerate them, but not Oda. He dislikes bugs for rejecting him. He feels like bugs are responsible for his status as a failed Aburame- a status which drives his rebellion. They made him hate tradition, and made him used to doing things underhandedly.
  • Hopes/Dreams: More than anything, Oda wants to be a unique shinobi. A shinobi that would be remembered distinctly for his unorthodox tactics and style. More than anything, he wants to prove to other people- but mostly himself -that even someone without a hereditary advantage can win in a fight. He wants to prove to the world his intellect and intelligence. He wants his ideas to be taken seriously. He just wants to be someone who can look back on their lives and say that they were someone, that they did something worthwhile in their lives.
  • Fears: The absolute biggest fear that plagues Oda's mind is his legacy. While death scares him, dying without doing anything of value scares him even more. He feels that his whole life on the planet needs to lead to something- he needs to do something, or be someone. If he didn't he'd go down in history as yet another nameless ninja, or worse, the 'failed Aburame.' It's of the utmost importance to him to make sure that people remember him, and remember that he exists- to acknowledge him and praise him.
  • Combat Mentality: Perhaps due to his age, but Oda’s combat mentality isn’t very… efficient. Oda’s first thought in every battle is not how he can defeat an enemy, but rather, how can he beat an enemy so he could look back and laugh at it later. Oda’s favorite tool to use in combat is Genjutsu. In line with his usual banter and tricks, Oda’s combat is no different. He strives off tricks and tomfoolery. This attitude stems from his experience- all the battles he's ever been in were non life-threatening, just practice. Nothing bad could happen to him there.

Storage & Force Fuuinjutsu:
Storage & Force Fuuinjutsu
This user is able to utilize Storage Fuuinjutsu and Force Fuuinjutsu, making it possible for them to utilize any jutsu with the Storage or Force Classification. Storage Fuuinjutsu can be used to store supplies, weapons, armor, or anything in between. Force Fuuinjutsu are used to release, counteract, and capture energy.
Suiton:
Suiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Suiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Suiton affinity. Suiton has a passive enveloping effect.
Passive (Enveloping)Show
Suiton's effect is enveloping, meaning that suiton passively surrounds anything that it makes contact with. Suiton techniques that do not last over periods of times (i.e, exploding techniques) drench their opponents, but long term techniques will envelop anything they come in contact with and maintain a hold on it with the 3/4th strength of the technique, rounded down. This means that if a suiton wave is shot forward with 17 strength, it will envelope and move anything with it that does not have more than 12 strength to resist it. This allows Suiton to fill a very powerful role in eliminating tools from opponent's access and capturing targets.
Taijutsu

*Fuuinjutsu • Tool Storage
D-Rank Storage Fuuinjutsu
After drawing a seal formula on a surface, appropriate in size to the weapon being sealed but no larger than 3x9 inches, the user forms the needed hand seals then may place as many of that singular object into the scroll as desired. When done, the user performs another set of hand seals and touches the seal closing it off as the seal condenses to the shape of the object stored. This seal is the only known sealing applications that allows depth storage and unfortunately this cannot be done at larger sizes. Tools can only be released at a maximum of 10 at a time, and are released with zero force.
*Fuuinjutsu • Explosive Tag
D-Rank Force Fuuinjutsu
After drawing an 2x5 inch seal formula on a surface the user forms the needed hand seals then touches the seal, arming it with their chakra. Upon being kai'd, the tag releases it's stored energy as a D-Rank Explosion of concussive force outward from itself.
*Fuuinjutsu • Tattoo
D-Rank Storage Fuuinjutsu
Developed for clandestine operations originally, instead of using ink and paper, the user draws a seal onto their body the size of the item they are sealing into their body. Upon doing a set of hand seals, the user then slides the item into the tattoo and performs a second seal, causing the seal to go dormant. When kai'd the seal releases the stored item.
Fuuinjutsu • Signal
D-Rank Force Fuuninjutsu
This Funinjutsu is drawn on an object and the correct hand seals are made. Upon activating the seal, the object that the seal is on will vibrate silently for 1 post. The object can only be small and thin- it won't work if the object is too heavy. It's mostly saved for clothing and paper. This is perfect for sending silent signals to teammates, but it's range is only about 30 metres. The one who drew the seal cannot locate it, either.

SuitonShow
Suiton • Water Shelf
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a dense ball of water approximately 10 centimeters in diameter in their hands. The ball stays suspended where it was formed. It has a strength of 5, and can hold any object with equal or less strength than it. If more than it's capacity is fit in, the ball breaks. It can also be broken by force by being hit by anyone with strength over 5. The ball cannot catch objects out of mid-air.
*Suiton • Wet Spot
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will expel a 3 meter diameter sphere of water from their mouth at speed of 5 up to 10 meters away. Upon impact it will burst spilling all over the immediate area making it extremely slippery. Those without 5 taijutsu or higher will not be able to hold their footing on this wet spot and will slip around.
Suiton • Water Mirror
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After preforming the correct hand seals, the user expels water from their mouth. The water forms a small sphere, about 10 cm in diameter. The water forms a translucent sphere. The sphere's purpose is mostly reflective- it reflects images fairly well, though it's still got that watery look to it. It hovers around the user's body to a maximum of 30 cm away from the user's body. It remains around the user's body until it's dispelled, or after 3 posts. The mirror cracks and breaks at the slightest touch- even a light tap with a strength of 1 ruins it.

*[Genjutsu • Boom!]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then within the next post, snap their fingers. Anyone who hears the snapping will hear an explosion in the distance behind them. This works as an effective distraction, or a scare tactic, if properly utilized.
[Genjutsu • There's no way he'd put a Genjutsu on me when we just met...]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After making the correct hand seals, the jutsu will be active. The first person which they lock eyes with is caught in the Genjutsu. This Genjutsu makes the opponent perceive the user differently, but only very slightly. It might just be a change in eye color, or a birthmark that appears on the user's skin. The jutsu lasts for 3 posts.
[Genjutsu • Stop laughing at me!]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After preforming the required hand seals, the user points at the opponent. If the opponent sees the point, they are caught in the Genjutsu. For their next 3 posts, they hear very hushed laughter coming from behind them.
*[Genjutsu • Paranoid]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then point indiscriminately. Should the target see the pointing motion, they'll be captured in this genjutsu. For the following 4 posts, the target will see a shadow in the corner of their eyes, constantly shifting out of view when they attempt to look at it.
*[Genjutsu • Pins and Needles]
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the hand seals and pricking the opponent with some sort of small weapon (usually senbon), the opponent feels their arms and legs fall asleep. It feels as if the blood flow to these appendages has basically stopped, making their movements a tad sluggish and just all around uncomfortable. This jutsu doesn’t really hinder a person, but it makes everything they do feel off. For those who are attuned to the way their body feels during battle, it can be extremely distracting. Lasts 3 posts.
C-rankShow

[Genjutsu • Switcharoo]
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
First, the user preforms the necessary hand seals. If the opponent sees one of the two objects that this Genjutsu is used on, they will be caught in it. This Genjutsu swaps the physical appearance of two objects of roughly identical size. There can be a disparity of up to a couple centimetres, but the larger this disparity, the less effective the Genjutsu is, as the objects would be noticeably different. If the objects are too different in size, the Genjutsu will not work. It also doesn't effect things like weight or texture. Furthermore, the object must be small, about enough to fit in the user's hand. The Genjutsu lasts for 3 posts.
*[Genjutsu • Burning to Death]
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
This is a genjutsu technique which can be used in quite a few ways. The user forms a hand seal, and as long as the opponent(s) see it, then the genjutsu will begin. The user and the opponent(s) will both light on fire and start to burn, from the feet up to the head, in the opponent's mind. The opponent will normally start to panic and try to get rid of the fire, especially since they feel as if they were in actual pain. This genjutsu lasts for 4 posts and will not appear to be able to be extinguished, no matter what the victim does. The illusion is very static, in the sense that it doesn't change with the environment, it merely creates an illusory flame and pain.

History
Historical AccountsShow
The Aburame clan. A clan respected and revered. They bred some of the best shinobi to ever exist using their unique style of combat- using bugs. Bugs were the primary tool of any Aburame- that much was obvious. But to Oda, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Oda was born into an average Aburame household. His father, a Ninja. His brother, a Ninja. There was never any sort of thought otherwise to Oda- Of course he was going to become a Ninja, it was what he was born to do. Despite this knowledge, Oda spent his childhood with lazy days, training occasionally, but never spending too much time on it. He was happy and carefree.

These early days, though, couldn’t last forever, and he was soon poised to join the Ninja academy. The Aburame clan name was an easy pass for him, and he was allowed in the academy with little to no trouble. However, at this time, there was something much, much more important than getting into the academy- getting his own swarm at the Beetle Spring. Oda spent nights awake thinking about what he was going to do with his swarm, how he could use it, and how he could become a great ninja.

The day came, and he sprung out of bed, excited beyond belief at the event that was about to happen to him. His own swarm! It felt like a dream come true. Come the spring, there was festivity throughout the entire clan. The small clan was very excited for all the young Shinobi to receive their swarms. Soon enough, it became Oda’s turn- his turn to get his swarm.

The first spark of doubt that something was wrong started when the first swarm moved away from him when he went to choose them. It was… strange, but not completely unheard of. Oda wasn’t all too disappointed. He’d just pick the next one... or so he thought. The next swarm rejected him too. As he moved from swarm to swarm, Oda’s heart dropped further and further until he reached the very last one- and they rejected him too.

To say that he was devastated was an understatement. Oda was lost, confused and scared. He bolted from the festival and ran straight home, where he cried and cried until he fell asleep. Oda would later learn that an exceptionally rare genetic mutation occurred in his Chakara. It was perfectly normal Chakra, except it was both disgusting and of no nutritional value to the insects. That meant that Oda couldn’t host a swarm, no matter how much he wanted to.

Oda, for a long while, had no idea what to do. He went to the academy with dead eyes, and spoke to no one. It wasn’t until they began to teach Genjutsu did Oda’s spirit begin to rise. Oda was absolutely fascinated by illusions. Taking someone out with just your mind sounded… thrilling, and exhilarating. Oda spent the time he would usually spend moping practicing his Genjutsu- to try and get better and better.

It was during this time that Oda realized something. He didn’t need his bugs to be special- he’d make himself special. It was after this revelation that Oda kicked into overdrive- the freedom of the burden that he had been carrying broadened his horizons, and he did what he wanted to do- whenever he wanted to do it.

He thought up crazy plans and had crazy ideas. With the weight of expectation off his shoulders, he felt he could really shine. In fact, he was so confident in his ability to shine that he would regularly skip class to prepare and play pranks on the locals- it was truly a good time for him.

On the day of Konoha’s invasion, Oda got incredibly lucky. He had skipped out on class that day, and was in his little ‘man cave’- a spot underneath his house he used as his ‘base’ for pranking people. He had fallen asleep making a contraption, and when he awoke, the village was in chaos. He had slept through the invasion, and while he remembers nothing, it still had a big impact on his life.

His harmless pranks suddenly became sabotage attempts on the village- he was unable to do what he pleased. He was, all of a sudden, shackled with the weight of responsibility and failure once more. But this time, Oda wouldn’t sit still.

He would improvise, adapt, and overcome. The adults didn’t need to know he was pranking them, didn’t need to know he was pulling their legs- only he did. Post-invasion, Oda’s outward attitude changed dramatically. He learned how to put on poker faces, adapt to moods, whatever he needed to fool others of his intentions.

Now, after his education, he was promoted into a Genin. Who knows what other things this young Shinobi is capable of?
