He has somewhat thin facial features, such as his nose and mouth, while his ears are also somewhat small. His facial features often tend make him seem as if he is frowning, or otherwise unhappy, even if this is not the case.

[*][i][color=darkorange]Body:[/color][/i] As a result of living in Kirigakure, Kirino's skin is almost abnormally pale. He is somewhat slim, but his training as a shinobi has ensured that he is far from simply being skin and bones, with his legs being particularly muscular when compared to the rest of his body. He has yet to pick up any notable scars, and so his skin is generally as smooth and unmarred as the day he was born.

[*][i][color=darkorange]Notable Features:[/color][/i] An extensive blood red birthmark runs down his left arm, covering the inner art of his arm from just below his shoulder, all the way to his wrist.[/list]
[b][color=darkorange]Clothing/Accessories:[/color][/b] His most noticeable item of clothing is a large black hooded cloak that hides most of his features, on the back of which is emblazoned the Karagata crest, red on black. Beneath this cloak he wears a loose plain black shirt with short sleeves, though he has taken to wrapping up his left arm in order to keep his birthmark hidden. He also wears long black pants that go down to his ankles, under his lies strapping to ensure that the pants to not get in the way in an important moment. A dark red belt with 2 pouches on the left hip, as well as a spot for a water skin, and 3 pouches on his right hip is also always found buckled around his waist. He wears toe-less shoes of black leather for ease of movement. His forehead Protector uses a light grey cloth and is most often found on his forehead.

[list][*][i][color=darkorange]General:[/color][/i] Kirino is a relatively shy shinobi. Generally rather downcast, he finds it difficult to form bonds with others quickly. Despite this, he is capable of forming strong bonds with people that he has known for a long time. Normally a serious guy, he is not above acting with a somewhat childish excitement in some cases, such as when he succeeds in a mission or receives really good news. However, he is quick to go back to a negative mood outside of missions. He also displays a significant love of music and some select poetry.

In recent times he has begun to develop a far more outgoing attitude, however, being far more likely to laugh and speak to others easily. As he has aged, he has lost a lot of his previous predisposition to being downcast, as well as some of his more childlike tendencies. Now the two sides of his personality have become one. Instead of being generally downcast, Kirino is able to maintain an update and positive mood most of the time, though he is still liable to fall into a serious mood more quickly than most. Signs of his old shyness are still evident, but for the most part the boy has grown past such a personality.

[*][i][color=darkorange]Hopes/Dreams:[/color][/i] Ever since the coronation of Kyuo, Kai to the rank of Mizukage, Kirino's greatest driving focus has been to become Mizukage himself, so that he can guide the village that he cares about so much to a better future.

[*][i][color=darkorange]Fears:[/color][/i] Kirino's greatest fear is that he will be unable to protect that which he cares about, and he pushes himself immensely to try and ensure that he will be strong enough to keep his friends and allies from being killed.

[*][i][color=darkorange]Combat Mentality:[/color][/i] Kirino likes to fight from a distance and within his mist. With the advantage given to him by the Toramugan, his generally takes away the opponent's ability to fight back, before moving in for a killing blow.[/list]

The Toramugan allows Kirino to see beyond the regular spectrum of vision, instead transcending into infrared. When the Ability is activated, Kirino's vision is replaced by sight through the infrared wavelength. This affords Kirino the ability to see in situations where most humans cannot, be it through night vision or thermal imaging. When the Dōjutsu is activated, Kirino's dark blue eyes lighten in colour to a light, electric blue, while his sclera develops a slight orange tint bordering on white. The Toramugan is activated via jutsu. As such, it is capable of ability channeling, allowing Kirino to activate it without hand seals.

Prolonged usage of the Toramugan is strenuous and requires a high level of endurance. The maximum operating time that Kirino can utilize the Dōjutsu is equal to his stamina stat divided by 4 rounded down, to a minimum of one post. Upon reaching the max duration, the stress of using the Toramugan to it’s limit causes a cooldown period of 1/2 of the duration time, to a minumum of one post. During this cooldown period, the Toramgugan cannot be activated and attempting to do so will cause physical pain. Duration is based off total posts where the Toramugan is activated, meaning Kirino can turn it on and off to have a shorter cooldown. Seeing through the infrared wavelength allows Kirino the ability to see in the dark, as well as through rain and most particulates, such as mist. Kirino's father, Kosuke is a hard man, determined to see his children succeed. He often comes off as cold to his family, and is more interested in seeing his children develop than spending time with them. Despite his apparent coldness, Kosuke holds his family in incredibly high regard, and considers his treatment of them to be kind, at least compared to his treatment of most others. Outside of the family home, Kosuke is a cruel and effeciant man, and holds a high position within the families shipping industry. He primarily deals with trade between Kirigakure and Lightning Country, but occasionally overseas some trades with Earth Country.

Before marrying into the Karagata family, Himari came from a small, but rich family, of which she is the last member of the families line. Considering the high numbers of female's born in her family's history, as well as the rate of stillbirths and miscarriages, it is a wonder that she has a family composed of 3 sons. Whilst still a hard women, suited to a life in Kirigakure no Sato, she if kinder than her husband, and will often spend time with her children offering what help she can. Trained as a specialist in the art of genjutsu, Himari is a Jōnin of the village, and is often away on missions.

The eldest of Kirino's brothers, Katsurou holds a great amount of kindness considering the family in which he was born. Ever since childhood, he was taken with Kosuke to various meetings and formal events, and has since been expected to one day take over his father's role in the family's industry. A role for which he prepares for diligently. At 21 years old, it won't be long before he takes over his father's place in its entirety. He takes great interest in Kirino's position as a shinobi, and the two share a close bond.

The younger of Kirino's two brothers, though still older than him at 16 years old. Kaito takes after his family far more than Katsurou, and as a result is cruel and harsh, even to his brothers. He will often abuse Kirino, physically and mentally, and call it training. As a result, Kirino harbors a deep anger towards his brother, and dreams of the day when he will be strong enough to defeat him. Though Kirino doesn't often acknowledge it, Kaito is in fact fiercely protective of his little brother, and would fight in his defense without hesitation. Despite being a chuunin, Kaito rarely partakes in missions, and his training has slowed to the point where it seems unlikely that he will progress to Special Jōnin in the near future,

A young special Jōnin in service of the Karagata family, Riki first came into contact with Kirino's branch of the family when he was instructed to guard Kosuke and Katsurou as they went to a trade meeting outside of the village. He grew close to Katsuou, and when the Karagata realize that Riki's combat style matched Kirino's own, hired him as a off the record tutor for the young shinobi. Despite the two shinobi's duties preventing them from training much together, Kirino still owes much of his recent progress to Riki's teaching.

Kirino first met Naohiro in the academy where, despite the rivalry between the Karagata and the Hirohito, the two became close friends. After the two shinobi graduated from the Academy, they went on to work together in several missions, before Naohiro dropped out of contact due to the illness of his father. Kirino never found out why he was no longer paired on missions with Naohiro, and thus it came as a surprise when they worked together to discover the source of the death of a Karagata at the hands of an Aisu. Since then they have kept in contact, and Kirino considers Naohiro to be one of his closest friends.

A Genin of no particular talent, Akari was one of Kirino's classmates during his time in the Academy, specializing mainly in medical ninjutsu. The two got along well, mainly due to Akari's incredibly kind nature. However, they were never truly close. Akari died on a C-Rank Mission gone terribly wrong, after she found herself unable to act at a crucial moment. Her death instilled a great amount of self-doubt into Kirino, but recently he has instead used her death as a reason for him to become stronger, and accomplish what she would never be able to.

A blunt, rude, yet highly effective genin. Kirino first met Daiki when the two were paired together for an unassuming C rank mission. Unfortunately the group were attacked by a pair of Missing-ninja and, despite the boy's talent, he was killed in an attempt to ensure that the village knew about the Nukenin. His death instilled a great amount of self-doubt into Kirino, but recently he has instead used his death as a reason for him to become stronger, and accomplish what Daiki would never be able to.

One of the most talented shinobi from Kirino's class in the Academy, Tsubasa always seemed destined for greatness. She was brave, charismatic, and highly skilled in her clan's unique Jutsu. Unfortunately for her, she was matched against Kirino's brother Kaito in her Chuunin exam, and was killed in the battle. Her death was the most immediate cause of Kirino's newfound determination to gain strength, as he hoped to accomplish in his life what she would never have the chance to.

Kirino's great grandfather. The man known as the Ghost of the Terumī was a renowned Jounin and assassin in his day, and was believed to be single most accomplished combat sensor in the village. The truth, however, was that Kazuken had mastered the use of the bloodline of the Terumī, the Dojutsu known as the Toramugan. The man never told anyone the truth behind his abilities, but he left behind memoirs of his life which were found by Kirino. His legacy now serves as the single most motivating factor in Kirini's life, as he seeks to gain the strength to match his ancestor's power.

[spoiler=Early Life]
Kirino was born as the third son of Kosuke and Himari, important members of the Karagata family. His father holding an important position within the families shipping industry, and his mother being a Jōnin of the village. This high birth of his gave Kirino an incredibly privileged lifestyle growing up in the Noble tier of Kirigakure no Sato. At the same time however, he was placed under a large amount of pressure to excel for the benefit of the family. This pressure was placed on him both by his parents, and the rest of the village.

Kirino's training in the shinobi arts began at the age of 6, two years before he was admitted into Kiri's Academy 1. As a younger child of the family, he did not stand to inherit Kosuke's role in the Karagata business, a role for which his oldest brother, Katsurou, was groomed for from birth. Instead, Kirino and his other brother, Kaito, were trained to be shinobi by Himari. From the beginning of his training, Kirino showed little promise in either Genjutsu or Taijutsu, but seemed to have great potential in the use of Ninjutsu. He also displayed a strong battle instinct. As a result, his training was focused on mastering Ninjutsu, with his affinity in Suiton and Fuuton coming to the fore by his 8th birthday.[/spoiler]
[spoiler=The Academy]
Midway through the 9th year of his life (he was 8 at the time), Kirino was accepted into the 1st and most prestigious Academy of the village. During his time there he established his fighting style as a specialist in Defensive and supplementary Ninjutsu. He also began his studies of Kiri's signature Mist Style during this time. Due to his relatively shy nature, he did not make a large group of friends during his time at the Academy, instead forming close relationships with a few other students. Aisu [url=https://www.narutosaigen.com/forums/viewtopic.php?&t=5940025/1/#new]Naohiro[/url], another of the students in his class, was one of these friends. Due to having a two year head-start on his training, Kirino progressed through the Academy without much difficulty, and graduated a few weeks after his 10th birthday on his 1st attempt.

As Kirino's time at the Academy began, his older brother Kaito finished his own studies, since that time, he spent a great amount of time “training” with his younger brother. This training would generally involve Kirino being beaten down and insulted by his brother, and as a result he harbors a strong desire to become stronger than Kaito.[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Years as a Genin]
Kirino enjoyed a promising start to his career as a Genin, finding success in his first few D rank missions both on his own and with other Genin, including several missions with his classmate Naohiro. His relationship with Naohiro was cut however, when he was 11. This was due to Naohiro's father going blind, though Kirino never learned of the reason that he no longer saw his friend. Since then, he began to undertake more missions by himself.

A few weeks after his 12th birthday, Kirino was assigned a run of the mill C rank mission alongside 2 other Genin his age: Yamai, Daiki and Matsuo, Akari. The mission seemed to be an ordinary bodyguard mission for a minor noble in the Land of Water, however when the 3 Genin let there guard down, expecting an easy mission, they were attacked by 2 C rank missing-nin from the Land of Lightning, the noble was the first casualty of the fight, with Kirino's comrades falling soon after. Kirino managed to escape back to the village, however, and the missing-nin were swiftly dealt with by Kiri.

Unfortunately this failed mission, coupled with an already existing sense of self doubt thanks to Kaito's “training”, convinced Kirino that he wasn't fit to be a shinobi. Lacking inspiration and blaming himself for the death of his comrades, he stopped making any progress for the next 2 years, only taking the occasional D rank mission to satisfy his family. Instead of training, he spent a large amount of time in the lower tiers of Kiri, aimlessly going about his life. Katsurou was aware of what Kirino was going through, and tried to convince him to get back to his regular training, but the rest of his family were kept in the dark

It was when Kirino was 14 that he turned back into the shinobi that he used to be. During Kaito's chuunin exam, which Kirino and his family were watching, Kaito killed his opponent: Toukai, Tsubasa, a classmate of Kirino's. Despite this, the proctor decided to grant Kaito the rank of Chuunin, angering Kirino. After some motivation from Katsurou, this tragic event spurred him to train harder than ever before, both in remembrance of his fallen friends, and in an attempt to beat his sadistic brother.

[spoiler=Chapter 1: Discovering a Legacy]
Several months after his brother's chuunin exam, Kirino met several other genin of interest during his duties as a shinobi. The first was his old friend Aisu Naohiro, whom he was partnered with during the investigation of the accidental murder of a Karagata at the hands of an Aisu. He went on to reconnect with his old friend, and soon found himself assigned to the same team as the young Aisu. Kirino was not the first member of the relatively new Unit 12, but as time went by he and Naohiro would be the only 2 to remain a part of the team while other Shinobi came and went. Before long the two genin formed a close and competitive rivalry, each attempting to gain the skill needed to outdo the other when the time came for their chuunin exam.

Kashou, Akish was the other Genin that Kirino found himself interacting with during the 15th year of his life. The boy's beliefs helped inspire Kirino to turn the shame of his failures into a base which he could use to achieve more in the future. As a result, his determination only grew, and he began to take more difficult missions more frequently. Even when he wasn't on mission, he would be training, and before long he could see his skills improving remarkably. His determination had become so that when he had encountered Kaikyo Kohan by chance, it wasn't long before the man had agreed to spar with him in order to help train the boy's skills. Throughout the encounter Kirino realized that those in charge were not necessarily unapproachable, invincible figures, as he had always imagined. Instead, he discovered that the only differences between the two groups was experience and skill, two traits that he was determined to gain. If anything, the experience only reaffirmed his aim of gaining his own level of authority within the village.

As the days went by Kirino grew ever closer to the level of skill that he knew he would need to achieve the promotion to Chuunin that he was striving for alongside Naohiro, the pair had become a team without match (at least in Kirino's own opinion) completing mission after mission, as well as being involved in various other events that helped their development as Shinobi. At was at this time that Kyuo Kai, the Kyuudaime Mizukage, gained the most esteemed of positions. The event showed Kirino once again that leadership consisted of more than simple coldness. Seeing how Kai approached the people in the village gave Kirino an example that he felt he could follow, he could never be a man who sent faceless men to some faceless death, he didn't believe anyone could. Someone who did all he did for the benefit of the village, who cared for the people under his rule, and only wanted what was best for them. That was what Kirino wanted to be. It was the day of Kai's coronation when Kirino discovered that he truly wished to one day become Mizukage. Kai wouldn't remain in power, he knew, and when the time came for the next Kage to be names, Kirino would make sure that it wasn't someone who would throw away the lives of his subjects.

Instead, it would be Kirino himself.

Not long after the coronation of the new Kage, Kirino found himself working less and less with other Genin, and more with Naohiro. He knew that it would not be long until he would face his Chuunin exam, and so he made a point to redouble his training. It was during one of these training sessions that an odd occurrence occurred. Kirino found himself in possession of a unique bloodline ability, inherited from his mother's side of the family. In learning of this ability, the Dojutsu called the Toramugan, he discovered an old Journal written by the last man to have the ability, Terumī, Kazuken. Kirino became obsessed with the legacy that his ancestor had left him, and quickly set out to master his bloodline, and prepare for his imminent chance of promotion.

Now, with the Chuunin exams coming ever closer, Kirino seeks to ensure that he can best his friend and rival, and reach the rank of Chuunin of Kirigakure.
