“If everyone in nature were too talented not to be hunted by others, everyone would starve!”

General Information Age: 24
Gender: Male
Height: 216cm / 7'1''
Weight: 147kg / 324lbs
Physical FeaturesShow
  • Face/HeadShow
Similar to the rest of the body, Shou's head is covered in dull grey scales that overlap one another with their grain being faced down towards their feet, creating a natural armor. Being born with disproportionately large eyes, with the iris's being a Blood Red, containing huge pupils that some could find creepy or intimidating. Directly under the eyes are a set of small gills. If Shou were to open his mouth anyone would see his two rows of teeth which are both Jagged and unbelievably sharp. Sporting these Vicious chompers is a well defined muscular jaw that has hulking muscles supporting them.
  • BodyShow
Towering over most others at 7'1'', Shou is incapable of not standing out in a crowd. Sporting a large frame, his muscles look almost as if swollen at all times. Rather than having skin showing like most other humans, Shou's body is covered in scales that act as a natural armor thanks to his heritage. The scales on his chest and down his stomach are a cream-white color while the rest of his scales are a dull grey. Sporting down from the small of his back is a prehensile shark tail.
  • Notable FeaturesShow
Shou's entire biological structure is a notable feature, from his scale-covered body, freakishly large frame, large blood-red eyes that sport huge pupils, teeth that are sharp and jagged, and a tail that grew out of his back.
Clothes & AccessoriesShow
Dry ClothingShow
Shou's dry clothes consist of a simple pair of shorts that only reach halfway down his thighs. A Satchel that contains 6 2lb solid gold orbs, 8 1lbs solid silver orbs, and a 32oz glass bottle filled with shards of Cobalt. A rope that is tied around his waist to keep his shorts up. A sheath containing a double-edged knife strapped to this thigh. A scroll case that is tied to the rope around his waist.
Wet ClothesShow
Shou's Wet clothes consist of only a rope tied around his waist that holds a waterproof bag. His Knife strapped to his forearm for ease of access. A scroll case that is tied to the rope around his waist.
PersonalityShow
  • General PersonalityShow
Shou's outlook on the general populace that he has seen is rather obscure. Having both a deep love for the citizens who serve under his family as well of having a personal hatred for those that are weak and choose not to search to become stronger. Shou's only true weakness to his personality is nothing. (just kidding, he is extremely Prideful). When coming into contact with anyone who might dwell within a desert, Shou shows them absolutely no respect and would rather kill them on the spot than to hear a single word that falls from their abominable tongue. Towards his allies, he is as loyal as a crocodile raised from birth.
  • Goals in LifeShow
Short term goals: Travel the different countries looking for specimens to hunt or raise, Improve on this physical prowess, and find another area to test its waters.
Long term goals: To find new Masters to serve so that he may continue his path down to becoming a True Enforcer. To find one true ruler to serve for most of his life. To die protecting his ruler from something that could be considered legendary in stature.
  • FearsShow
Dieing before he accomplishes his dreams
  • Combat MentalityShow
    Before InitiativeShow
Before combat initiates, Shou determines whether or not he will need to trust his mind or his instincts.
    Feral ModeShow
If he decides to trust his instincts, he will enter a Feral state of mind where he will attack both friend and foe alike.
    Normal ModeShow
If it is determined that he won't need to use his instincts, then Shou will try to dominate his opponent through raw strength and aggression, trusting in his natural body to keep him safe while not caring if he takes hits from his opponent's attacks. If Shou takes a hard enough hit or receives a serious wound he will back off and think more strategically approaching with more caution than first needed.

First Ability
Shuryō Kekkai GenkaiShow
While it's unclear whether due to evolution or chakra, The Shuryo clan is comprised of individuals that look like humanoid sharks. Their eyes are disproportionately large for their body and contain huge pupils that can dilate very quickly, allowing them to see in the darkest depths but also not be blinded by every-day light on the land. These eyes grant them vision in the dark so long as it's not complete, absolute darkness. All clan members also have two small gills beneath their eyes, highly effective for their size and allow members to breathe underwater while their normal lungs let them breathe on land. Their teeth are quite vicious-looking, very sharp and jagged and pointing in just about every direction. Every member has at least 1 row of these teeth that slowly drop out of their mouth and get replaced by new, fresh teeth throughout the month. Around those teeth, Shuryo members also have very pronounced jaws with beefy muscles clearly visible. All members can use the entirety of their strength with their jaws, making for extremely powerful bites. Additionally, although very rare, members can also be born with prehensile tails that come out of their lower back and are both useful for swimming and even in combat, with proper training.

-Hunter's Sense-

All Shoryu members are born with an enhanced version of a Lateral Line. The entirety of their skin is sensitive to electronic signals and can pick up their location within a range equal to their instinct/2, although this range can be increased with Taijutsu disciplines. This lateral line is their strongest tool and allows them to easily see the movements of those around them as well as find hidden enemies.

-Dermal Scales-

All Shuryo are born with shark-like scales on their skin. These scales are locked in tightly against each other and act very much like a hard armor. Because they're also oriented in a downward direction, it gives their skin a sandpaper like-feel when going against the grain and giving the skin a passive grinding ability. This placoid scale armor has a durability equal to the Shuryo's [Stam+Str]/2.
Passive (Grinding)Show
The Shuryo's Dermal Scales are rough, and grind in their movement, eroding and tearing at anything they come in contact with. This makes their scales an aggressive tool that adds to their strength when coming in contact with solid matter by breaking it down and adding it to it's mass. Their scales grind against solid matter, which adds 1/6th of the strength of that thing to it's own strength. A 30 strength punch breaking through a 10 strength Doton wall would add 2 strength to itself, having 32 strength. Against organic matter, these scales grind against skin and wounds, causing microtears that can become irritating and worsen existing wounds. Below is a list for how the Shuryo's dermal scales interact with solid matter.
  • 1-14 Strength Requirement: Minor scrapes and cuts, minor bleeding.
  • 15-24 Strength Requirement: Scrapes, removal of skin, moderate bleeding.
  • 25-34 Strength Requirement: Removal of upper muscle, heavy bleeding.
  • 35+ Strength Requirement: Grinding of flesh, removal of deep tissue, profuse bleeding.

Shuryō Clan TaijutsuShow
[Fisher’s Delight • Shark Tooth Devastator]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The Shuryo will stick their fingers in their mouth, and rip out three of their teeth at once. They will then place the jagged teeth between their fingers for a makeshift set of “brass knuckles.” The Shuryo’s teeth will regrow during the next 3 posts.

[Fisher’s Delight • Shark Tooth Shuriken]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The Shuryo will stick their fingers in their mouth, and rip out three of their teeth at once. They will then use these teeth as makeshift Shuriken. The Shuryo's teeth will regrow during the next 3 posts.

[Fisher’s Delight • Shark Fin Slash]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
After pulling three of their shark-like teeth out, and placing them between their fingertips, the Shuryo will perform a knife hand slash at their target, with their teeth getting lodged into the target should it connect.

[Fisher’s Delight • The Hunt Begins]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
This jutsu is activated when the Shuryo focuses entirely on their Hunter's Sense. By concentrating completely and remaining motionless, the Shuryo member may increase the range of their Hunter's Sense by 5 meters.

[Fisher’s Delight • Shark’s Bite]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisites 10 Strength
Thanks to their shark-like mutations, the Shuryo are able to exert the full force of their strength using their jaw. This allows them to bite through weapons such as kunai, shuriken, senbon, and even swords, should they get the weapon between their teeth.

[Fisher’s Delight • The Hunt Continues]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
This jutsu is activated when the Shuryo focuses entirely on their Hunter's Sense. By concentrating completely and not moving at a speed greater than 1/2 their control, the Shuryo member may increase the range of their Hunter's Sense by 7 meters.

[Fisher’s Delight • Shark Frenzy]
C-Rank Taijutsu Stance
Members of the Shuryo clan are able to give themselves over to their basic, animalistic, instincts. This allows them to enter into a feral state of mind where they lose all ability to determine friend from foe, but in return, gives them a +3 to their Speed, and Strength stats for six posts.

[Fisher’s Delight • Blood In The Water]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The Shuryo clan is known for their many aquatic adaptations, however, their sense of smell is known to be exceptional both in water, and on land. The Shuryo are capable of tracking scents that they have come in contact with within the last six posts with pinpoint accuracy. However, this adaptation also leaves them vulnerable to scent based attacks.

[Fisher’s Delight • Shark Attack!]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The Shuryo will first attempt to catch their opponent’s arm by the wrist, while pivoting their dominant leg in front of their target’s feet. They will then twist the opponent’s arm, at the wrist, while bringing their elbow up, and over, their target’s twisted arm, so that their elbow is even with their opponent’s. While squatting down, the Shuryo will bring their elbow down to their hip, while keeping their opponent’s wrist at their own neck, in order to maintain pressure on their opponent’s arm. Once the target is kneeling down, the Shuryo will hook the target’s arm over their own, while grabbing the target by the neck so that they can force them to the ground. The Shuryo will then attack their target with their mutated, shark-like, teeth.

[Fisher’s Delight • Shark Tail Slap]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisites: 16 Strength
Thanks to their shark-like mutations, the Shuryo often use their shark-like tail in battle. One such instance is Shark Tail Slap. The Shuryo will spin on the ball of their foot, and slam their tail into their target. If the Shuryo's strength stat is 3 points, or higher, the Shuryo's strike will launch the target backwards.
Toryu KenjutsuShow
ToryuShow
Toryu, a style of Kenjutsu founded in the Land of Pebbles, melds traditional kenjutsu swordplay with subversive feints and sudden bursts of close quarters combat, two unyielding hills crashing together to form a mountain. Toryu typically favors use of the blade with one hand, utilizing the freedom of movement to use one's hands, joints, legs, head, and even the hilt and handle of the sword to make an already deadly style more unpredictable and more lethal. Ignorantly considered a very "unrefined" style by most practitioners of the sword, Toryu is actually one of the most difficult styles of Kenjutsu to learn and master. The very basic premise of the style revolves around the firm control and manipulation of one's own movements and body, some techniques requiring execution while using another attack as a feint or misdirection while not sacrificing strength. The style has no weapon requirements outside of a sword, but many users often prefer kodachi, wakizashi, ninjato, or even tanto, the reduced size and weight of the blades having fewer blindspots and making the user's weapon more mobile.

Requires: [Close Quarters Combat], [Sword Weapons] Concentrations.
D-Rank TechniquesShow
*[Toryu • Skipping Stone]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The signature Stance of Toryu, practitioners relax the muscles in their bodies, gaining additional flexibility in their movements in how they approach the enemy, how they retreat, how they evade attacks, and how they attack the opponent. This Stance allows the practitioner to more easily read opponent's attacks and defend against them by evading in unusual ways, such as ducking, bending around, and quickly sidestepping attacks without needlessly exposing themselves to additional attacks. This fleet-footed Stance lets the practitioner mix up their movements to confuse and misdirect the opponent, allowing them to attack lesser known openings in the opponent's guard. It also allows the practitioner to rapidly and reflexively change the angle, position and grip of their weapon with minimal movement, allowing them multiple manners in which they can attack the opponent or defend against attacks.

*[Toryu • Ambidexterity]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilize both hands equally and as effectively without any penalty. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.

*[Toryu • Cobblestone Skeleton]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 8 Taijutsu, 8 Strength.
A practitioner of Toryu is capable of attacking with every part of their body, even their heads. This Discipline represents the practitioner's capacity and experience with executing palm strikes, heel strikes, knee strikes, elbow strikes, and headbutts/skull bashes just as effectively as regular punches, kicks, and sword strikes. This Discipline allows the practitioner to consistently execute these kinds of attacks while minimizing or eliminating openings in their defenses or shock/damage they would experience while using these kinds of strikes.

*[Toryu • Dust Eater]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner moves in and initiates a feint in the form of a thrust. Part way through the thrust, however, the practitioner twists their arm to the side and drops low, rotating and lashing out with a spinning low kick, attempting to sweep the opponent's feet out from under them. Opponents with a Taijutsu stat higher than the practitioner's Strength stat can resist the tripping effect.

*[Toryu • Falling Stone]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Moving in to launch either an unarmed attack or an attack with their blade, the practitioner will launch a simultaneous unarmed attack or weapon attack with their other hand, bringing their fist or the pommel/butt of their weapon to slam into the opponent's guard, targeting their hands or wrists. Opponents with an average of their Strength and Stamina stats, rounded up, higher than the practitioner's Strength stat can resist having their guard be disrupted. Otherwise, the practitioner slams the opponent's guard aside, potentially allowing the original attack to strike the opponent directly.

*[Toryu • Sinking Quicksand]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Taijutsu, 8 Strength.
One of Toryu's many grappling techniques, the practitioner steps in close to the opponent, slamming their heel into the opponent's foot to lock the target in place. In the same movement, the practitioner grabs the opponent's arm and flips them over their back, slamming them to the ground. The prone position this leaves the opponent in leaves them exposed to an attack of opportunity from the practitioner's weapon after executing this technique.

*[Toryu • Sundering Gravel]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Taijutsu, 8 Strength.
Designed as a counterattack but also a potent attack by itself, the practitioner will first wait to block or parry an opponent's attack with their weapon. Then, the practitioner will quickly counter with a swift knee strike to the opponent's stomach or diaphragm to stun them or cause them to stagger by winding them, followed by a quick slash or stab to their chest or stomach. The practitioner may choose to use this as an attack instead by immediately leading off with the knee strike if they so wish.

*[Toryu • Pebble Split]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Taijutsu, 8 Strength.
Designed as a counterattack but also a potent attack by itself, the practitioner will first wait to sidestep an attack before countering with a swift elbow strike with their sword hand to the opponent's face to stun them or cause them to stagger by winding them, grabbing the opponent's arm or garment with their unarmed hand to hold them in place. Immediately following the elbow strike, the practitioner will pull the opponent to one side while executing a slash in the opposite direction with their sword hand.
C-Rank TechniquesShow
*[Toryu • Lethal Familiarity]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Many of the Toryu techniques would put the user in incredibly daring positions where a single mistake could instantly spell disaster for the swordsman. As a result, Toryu practitioners must train themselves constantly to avoid letting their fears distract them from their task. A practitioner with this technique has learned to shut out fear in the heat of combat, allowing them to perform attacks and techniques without the risk of failure due to fear responses.

*[Toryu • Spite Breaker]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
An unorthodox use of swordsmanship, the practitioner rushes the opponent and leaps at them, attempting to land on their shoulders. Should the practitioner succeed, they will forcefully shift their weight onto the opponent's shoulders, potentially unbalancing them. Opponents with an average of their Taijutsu and Strength stats, rounded up, higher than the practitioner's average of their Taijutsu and Strength stats, rounded down, can resist having their guard be disrupted. Otherwise, the opponent will be suddenly thrown off balancing, leaving their head, neck, or torso exposed for the practitioner to attack with their sword.

*[Toryu • Fury Guard]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A technique allowing the practitioner to partially customize their focus on defense or offense, the practitioner guards against attacks while immediately attacking subsequent openings with their free hand. The form this takes depends on which hand they prioritize for defense. Should they choose to guard with their sword hand, the practitioner deflects the attacks outwards, away from the opponent's center of mass where their guard is strongest, and responds by launching unarmed counter attacks like a punch, elbow, or throw. If they choose to guard with their unarmed hand, the practitioner blocks the attack by intercepting the haft of the weapon or the opponent's wrists with the back of their fist or forearm and counter with more lethal slashes and stabs from their sword.

*[Toryu • Misery Drop]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 15 Taijutsu, 15 Strength.
A variant of the Spite Breaker, the practitioner rushes the opponent and leaps at them, spinning and attempting to land on their shoulders, clinching their legs around the opponent's neck. Should the practitioner succeed, they will forcefully shift all of their weight back, potentially unbalancing the opponent. Opponents with an average of their Taijutsu and Strength stats, rounded up, higher than the practitioner's average of their Taijutsu and Strength stats, rounded down, can resist having their guard be disrupted. Otherwise, the opponent will be suddenly thrown back and flipped down before slamming face first into the ground. The practitioner can roll up onto the opponent's back with this motion, offering a clean stab down into the back of the opponent's skull to finish them off.

*[Toryu • Grave Digger]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 15 Taijutsu, 15 Strength.
Rushing in towards the opponent either as a charging attack or after evading an opponent's attack, the practitioner starts with their arms crossed in front of their chests before quickly sweeping their elbows up over their heads, the flat of the practitioner's front-most elbow potentially striking the opponent under their chin. While this elbow strike can cause considerable damage by itself, the purpose of the elbow strike is to cause the opponent to dodge. With their arms crossed over their heads, the practitioner braces their unarmed hand against their sword arm and swings both down at once. The additional torque provided by the unarmed hand allows the sword strike that follows to immediately accelerate to maximum speed. The practitioner can twist or sidestep during this downswing to compensate for where the opponent is dodging.

*[Toryu • Crushing Despair]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 15 Taijutsu, 15 Strength, *[Toryu • Cobblestone Skeleton].
A brutal, raw technique, the practitioner quickly dashes into an opponent's range, often after avoiding an enemy attack, momentarily torquing the muscles in their legs before launching a powerful knee strike directly up into the target's diaphragm and sternum in an attempt to stagger the opponent. Aside from potentially fracturing or even breaking bones, the opponent can potentially be left winded. This sudden attack can potentially open up many vulnerable areas on the opponent's body for possible finishing moves.

History
Historical AccountsShow
Shuryō Shou was born to Shuryō Habiki and his second mate Chihiro. During his childhood from the age where he could understand basic instructions, they put him on a regimen to become a warrior. Growing up with this kind of pressure was easy for Shou since every other child his age was forced to do the same. After the age of 9, Shou started to hit a growth spurt and soon became several inches taller than his fellow allies of his age. By the time he reached the age of 14, he was well trained in the Taijutsu of his clan, learning the basics and some more advanced techniques. At the age of 15 Shou was admitted into the military where he learned discipline and was taught why the desert-dwelling scum were to be hated. Every day after his physical training and studies, Shou would attend the military's personal dojo. Inside this Massive dojo were smaller personalized Dojos for traveling masters to teach at. These masters were not free however as the military paid them in deep-sea metals for their services and to teach the younger generations. Shou ended up getting a Master that went by "Doi". Doi was a master of Toryu Kenjutsu from the Land of Pebbles. After 2 years of training under Doi, Doi's contract was up and he took his riches with him as he left. Before he left he told Shou to come to see him in his homeland one day when he was done with his military service. Around the time he turned 19 his required time in the military was over. Instead of leaving like some of his other kin to start his adventures, he decided to stay for another 5 years to Progress further up the Ranks. While doing so he worked as a Combat Medic, Enforcer, and finally, goto Promoted to be a Lieutenant. After he reached his rank as lieutenant, he decided that it was finally time for him to begin his journey outside of his home country. Before leaving Shou went to his father and asked him for permission to take a copy of the Shuryō Taijutsu Scroll with him so that mem may keep on learning the Traditional way of the Shuryō. After a long pause and a deep sigh, his father agreed with only one condition intact: Shou must return the scroll to him with more techniques than was given. This seemed like a reasonable request in Shou's eyes. Doing so couldn't be that difficult right? Leaving to his personal housing establishment that was dug out the side of a cliff, he gathered his things and left his home to seek out his next adventure.
