Physical Features:
To most observers Shang looks like a pretty average 12 year old boy. Shang is tall, slightly muscular for his age and a little lanky. He has thick black hair that he keeps cut short and hazel colored eyes. His skin is a little bit tanned from the outdoor training sessions. He has a few minor scars on his hands, particularly around the knuckles but nothing particularly noteworthy.
Clothing/Accessories:
When not at the academy, training or on a mission Shang's attire is usually pretty simple. Consisting mostly of jeans and t-shirts. In terms of footwear he actually prefers to go barefoot but will occasionally be seen wearing a pair of white athletic shoes. When it gets cold he just throws on a hooded sweat shirt.
While at the academy or while using the indoor facilities at the academy that are available to genin (such as the library) he will wear his school uniform and his leaf headband on his forehead.
When training or on a mission he prefers to wear a skin tight, black altheltic t-shirt, a pair of black MMA style shorts that go down to about his knees, and wraps on his hands and feet and his leaf headband on his forehead. When appropriate, he will have a black leather holster with kunai in it strapped securely to the outside of his right thigh.
Personality:
- General:
Shang for the most part is a positive and friendly person. He tries to look at the bright side of every situation and he enjoys trying new things. He doesn't always know the right thing to say though and will sometimes crack jokes at the wrong time. He sometimes seems to get bored easy and likes to keep active in someway. In training he is constantly trying to push himself to hit new personal records and to either learn new techniques or to go harder and faster with existing one. Most people who have trained him have noted that he's at his best when actively working towards something tangible like performing a new technique or hitting some sort of measurable milestone such as running a mile in under 5. minutes.
He's also not always the best listener and if somebody does open up to him about their problems Shang is the type of person who will try to think of ways to fix it, even if all that person really wants is somebody to listen to them while they vent. At times he can be brash, impulsive and even a little bit temperamental. - Hopes/Dreams: To get into Anbu and find out what happened to his dad.
- Fears: Spiders. They creep him out. Also not being good enough to get into Anbu.
- Combat Mentality: Win quickly, and by any means necessary.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user will coat a weapon they are holding in Raiton electricity for 5 posts. This causes the shock effect to be produced on any contact with a target, while also granting blunt weapons the ability to cut through skin to produce shallow wounds. This also works for thrown weapons, however if the projectile remains out of contact with the user for more than 2 posts the technique will dissipate early. - Raiton Discharge
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: Raiton Conductor
At any time while Raiton Conductor is active the user can discharge the electricity in the weapon. This immediately ends the effect of Raito Conductor and creates a burst of electricity 2.5 meters in diameter around the weapon. This burst will apply light electrical burns similar to a sun burn and will apply Raiton's shocking effect. - *Raiton Lightning Armament
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After the correct hand seals are performed, the user coats themselves in a thick layer of lightning. This armour of lightning forms near instantly and requires [Control] Strength to break. During this time, the user's physical strikes apply the Raiton shocking effect. - Raiton Overdrive

The user the user can speed up the signals that are sent from the brain to the muscles to increase the user's striking speed. The downside is that maintaining and controlling this sudden burst of speed requires intense concentration and as such it becomes more difficult for the user to cast any other ninjutsu. This technique lasts for a number of posts equal to the user's [chakra pool] stat.

Ochiba:Ochiba
Ochiba is a weapon style originating from the fire country, one of the few weapon styles developed by Shinobi and not Samurai. Ochiba translate as “Dead Leaf” As it is a weapon style that focuses on the use of a Kunai which are similar in appearance to a leaf. The kunai is held in a reversed manner, the handle comes up by the thumb and the blade comes down by the bottom of the hand. This allows for short, yet quick strikes and parries. Though this style is developed to use a kunai it can be transposed to other short weapons such as ninjato & tanto, though not all techniques will be available.

Utilizing this Maneuver, the user is able to quickly draw a kunai from its holster. This is done by placing their finger through the lip of the holder and into the ring of the pommel, flicking it up and out quickly, having the kunai in the user’s hand within an instant. - *Ochiba Oaken Defense
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 10 Speed
A technique that specializes in fighting Samurai and equalizing the battle field. The user will wait for their target to attack, and will quickly counter this by gliding the blade of their kunai onto the opponent's blade. The user will quickly move in towards their opponent while also sliding their kunai closer and closer to the opponent's hilt. This will force the angle of their blade to be raised and leaves the opponent wide open for attack. - *Ochiba Dance Detour
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 10 Speed
A technique that relies highly on speed, much like a floating leaf being swept away by the wind, the user will attempt to slap away any incoming melee strikes or projectiles with their kunai. The average of the user's speed and strength needs to be higher than the strength the projectile was thrown at, using the momentum of their own speed to deflect the strike. - *Ochiba Extending Branch
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Using extremely quick thinking, if the user attempts to land a hit but their kunai is just short of hitting their target, they can very quickly spin the kunai on their finger, effectively extending its reach by a few inches. - *Ochiba Round and Round

The user will start by performing an extremely quick and powerful slash aimed at the target, and then continuing with that movement, they will spin themselves around and follow up with a powerful roundhouse kick. - *Ochiba Guerilla Warfare

The user has become a master at movement and energy expenditure being able to make the best of quick movements while also being able to maintain awareness and escape from a sticky situation. They utilize the utmost of their speed to make every movement count, and can create quick formulated movements that are efficient. - *Ochiba Leaf Duster
C-Ranked Taijutsu Stance
The user will place their middle finger through the pommel of the kunai, gripping it so the blade hangs out of the side of the palm, using the weapon as a knuckleduster. The user will keep their hands up to protect the face in this stance as they prepare for maneuvers mostly hand to hand based, but blades at the ready should they need them. Any physical punches used with this technique will add blunt damage.

Shang Li was born to Shin Li, a jonin level Anbu shinobi who was known as the Hidden Leaf's electric assassin, and Aika Li, the owner of a small coffee shop in the village. For the most part Shang was a normal Hidden Leaf child. Rambunctious and energetic, even from a young age Shang wanted to be a shinobi just like his dad and all his dad's cool friends (the one or two that he'd actually met) and was enrolled in the academy at the age of 6, the minimum age required by the academy.
Two years later, after Shang had turned 8, tragedy would strike the Li family as Shin went off on a mission and never came back. Shang and his mom were told that Shin was killed on that mission and that he died honorably but nothing more. Shin was given a hero's funeral. For young Shang this was not good enough. The next night Shang went to the home of his dad's good friend and fellow Anbu member, the Ochiba master, Hideki Nara and demanded to know what happened. When Hideki couldn't or wouldn't tell him, the irate Shang attacked. Thankfully Hideki was able to quickly and easily subdue the boy without harm to either of them. Hideki would place Shang under a sleep genjutsu and return the boy home to Aika.
When Shang woke up the next morning he found Hideki having tea with Aika in the kitchen. Hideki and Aika would talk to Shang about what had happened that night. Hideki told Shang that he understood how he felt but made sure the boy knew that the only reason he wasn't seriously hurt, or killed, was because Hideki knew him and his family. Hideki made Shang an offer, if Shang did well in the academy and trained at Hideki's dojo after school, then as soon as Shang reached the rank of chunin, Hideki would recommend Shang for Anbu where he'd be able to learn about what really happened to his late father.
This seemed to satisfy the boy and for the next few years he'd train hard, spending most evenings after school learning the Ochiba, or Dead Leaf, style of martial art at Hideki's dojo. There were no more incidents during this time as Shang was often left too exhausted, mentally and physically, by the intense training the Ochiba instructors put him through to cause any sort of trouble.
Shortly after his 12th birthday Shang graduated from the academy with top marks in areas related to taijutsu and physical fitness and average to slightly above average marks in everything else.
