HHD Update

Application: Head Hunter Division

Change:
  • Fix missing ryo and thread tracker:
    Super investigative digging and stuffShow
So, I was recently digging through old posts to find the original HHD/HHR org templates and I realised it's missing a whole bunch of ryo, forgotten or lost during revamps and system overhauls! Please verify but I believe it should have 407/487 ryo, not the 220/300 currently shown:
    • the original org in the old old system had 216 renown: viewtopic.php?&t=5851808/1/#new
    • after a system revamp it progress was converted/measured in "Plot boards completed" rather than renown. Director for some reason (I assume an innocent mistake) converted HHD based on 118 renown into "2D + 2C PB's worth", instead of its 216 renown. I don't know his conversion rate, but if we take the next nearest one he converted (Scribes of the Sand @ 209 renown) we can underestimate and use their conversion. Therefore HHD should have gotten at least "3D + 2C + 1B PB's worth" of progress, probably about double of what they actually got:
      conversion topic: viewtopic.php?&t=?p=4074155&t=8100698#p4074155
Scribes of Sand revamp to the PB system, showing their progress conversion was approved: viewtopic.php?f=91&t=8210038&p=4127898
    • Conversion rate from PBs to current system ryo was: D = 5; C = 10, B = 15 taken from the Scribes revamp to the ryo system: viewtopic.php?f=91&t=8342944&p=4182044
    • Therefore HHD should have started in the new system with at least the same 50 ryo as the Scribes got, instead it seems they actually got registered with 0. So, starting from there and counting out the changes since gives:
Therefore the org ryo total should be: 50+26+9+18+133+142+9+100 = 487 total, less 80 spent: 407/487
  • Next please transfer an additional 60 ryo from Aisu Naohiro, to become 78 ryo for the org (60 ryo donated * 1.3 fundraiser bonus = 78 ryo to org). Should take the org total to 485/565 and boost it to S-rank status.
  • Then purchase Silent Hunter jutsu style for the org for 178 ryo:
    Silent Hunter StyleShow
    Quote:
    [Silent Hunter]
The Silent Hunter style originated as a series of silent fighting techniques developed by Commander Karagata Shiv of Kirigakure's Head Hunter Division, further applied by Overseer Kaikyo Kohon of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, and finally revised and reimagined by Aisu Naohiro to become an expansive doctrine of techniques essential to any eager Head Hunter to aid in infiltration, tracking, and assassination.
    Requires: [Stealth] & [Perception]
    [Vigilance]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user maintains a constant state of vigilance with respect to their immediate surroundings and all persons in their vicinity. This allows the user to effortlessly identify and recall the environment, obstructions, and structures around them to passively recognise entry and escape routes, vantage points, probable sources of cover, and so forth. Additionally, the user can quickly recognise and differentiate civilians from trained (D-rank or higher) persons, such as by analysing gait, body structure, reactions, deftness, and the target's awareness.

    [Anaerobics]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Following dedicated training, the user is capable of moving and fighting for extended periods without breathing to minimise noise or avoid inhalation. The user can hold their breath for twice the usual amount of time without hindering their own abilities or actions.

    [Breathe and Listen]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user takes a deep breath and focuses their hearing on all the sounds in their vicinity, and is able to pick up on the sounds of movement within 15 metres of their position. They can accurately identify noises and the source, such as footsteps, the rustle of clothing, breathing, or the drawing of weapons. Areas with loud noises or crowds, or targets with specialised techniques to mask their sounds, can throw off the accuracy of this technique.

    [Just Listen]
    C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Any time the user is moving, they have trained themselves to be attuned to the sound of people moving. This passive technique allows the user to accurately pinpoint targets within 30 metres of their location, and can differentiate the sounds of multiple people to separate targets and determine how many people are in a given area even if they can’t see them.

    [Featherstep]
    C-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The user has learned to move in a particular way to lighten the tread of their feet and with carefully placed steps. This allows the user to move without leaving any visible trail to all but the most experienced of trackers, eliminating obvious environmental disturbances and signs such as footprints, scuffs, displaced dirt, and so on. The lightfooted nature of this stance imparts a +6 to Speed at the cost of -6 to Strength as the user primes their muscles for swift and gentle movement rather than power.

    [Projectile Whistles]
    C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has attuned their hearing to the sound of things moving through the air within 30 metres of their person. This allows them to hear projectiles flying at them from a general location, even if they can’t see the source.

    [Target Read]
    C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has learned to accurately gauge their own speed and strength compared to that of a target, allowing them to determine a fairly accurate estimate as to how fast a target is moving or could potentially move, or how strong a target may be. This can help the user read their opponent's potential and better predict the flow of combat.

    [Analyse]
    B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has learned to attune their hearing to target desired, specific sources of sound, and effectively block out all other distractions. This allows them to focus on individual targets or sounds, for example being able to pick out one conversation within a busy room, or identify one set of footsteps from among many. When focusing on a particular sound, the user can effortlessly interpret its characteristics to learn details about the source. For example, analysing the sound of footsteps can reveal the weight, size, or speed of a target, while hearing the rustle of movement could reveal the presence of armour, weapons, or other worn materials, and hearing the sound of weapons or projectiles can inform the user about the type, size, speed or strength of the weapons in use.

    [Argus]
    B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has trained their vision to accurately pick up on and interpret details even through darkness or dense visual obstructions. This technique allows the user to see clearly through shadows, darkness, or semi-transparent media such as water, ice, smoke, mist, dust, heat shimmers, and other airbourne particulate or visual disturbances out to a distance of 60 metres.

    [Target Speed]
    B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
The user strikes with pinpoint accuracy at the correct pressure points or muscle groups on an opponent's body that can effectively debilitate their speed. When struck, the opponent suffers a shock throughout their body and a sudden loss of mobility, manifesting as a -6 to Speed for the next five posts. This technique can be applied using a thrown weapon, however doing so from range lowers the potency of the strike and only imparts a -3 penalty to Speed instead.

    [Target Strength]
    B-Rank Taijutsu Manoeuvre
The user strikes with pinpoint accuracy at the correct pressure points or muscle groups on an opponent's body that can effectively debilitate their strength. When struck, the opponent suffers a shock throughout their body and a sudden loss of vigour, manifesting as a -6 to Strength for the next five posts. This technique can be applied using a thrown weapon, however doing so from range lowers the potency of the strike and only imparts a -3 penalty to Strength instead.

    [Heartbeat]
    A-Tank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has attuned their hearing to the sound of heartbeats. This allows them to accurately locate and track anything with a heartbeat within 50 metres of their person, and filter the sound of heartbeats out from other surrounding noises and distractions regardless of environment.

    [Precision Aim]
    A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has studied anatomy to the extent that they can passively apply that knowledge to their strikes and aim in the heat of combat. This allows the user to identify and exploit opportunities for pinpoint attacks to cause severe internal damage to a target, such as breaking bones, rupturing organs, slicing muscles and tendons, and so forth. This technique aids the user in spotting weak points in the armour or guard of a target and deliving precision attacks in those areas to bypass physical defences and strike the body beneath.

    [Ghoststep]
    A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Featherstep] or *Fuuton • Wind Skating

The user has learned to move with exceptional care and finesse, lightening the tread of their feet and stepping with extreme care or by marginally levitating their feet with a subconscious application of fuuton chakra. This allows the user to move without detriment while eliminating all traces of their passing, leaving no physical sign. Additionally, the user can move as normal without triggering physical traps such as pressure plates or tripwires. If moving via fuuton, the swirling chakra additionally scours away any scent left behind by the user. If moving via careful physical steps, the user leaves no residue of chakra use. The lightfooted nature of this stance can impart a boost to speed of up to +12, at the cost of a corresponding debuff to Strength as the user primes their muscles for swift and gentle movement rather than power.

    [Instant Strike]
    A-Rank Nintaijutsu Manoeuvre
The user prepares an attack or action before priming their muscles and surging forward in an instantaneous, chakra-assisted movement towards or away from a target within 50 metres, which consumes one of the user's two available teleport movements per thread. This allows the user to jump forward and deliver a lightning-fast series of strikes to a target without any perceivable precursor motion, or to attack a target already in range and then instaneously move away to a safe location by identifying an object within range that is at least 1/5th the user's size while preparing the technique. An object used in this manner must be solid and must not already be imbued with foreign chakra. The user can perform up to [Base Speed/10] strikes as part of this technique, performed at up to +12 Speed, but the focus on rapid motion leaves the user unprepared to guard and thus a corresponding Endurance debuff for the duration of the strike.

    [Coverage]
    A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has learned how to make the most effective use of their environment to avoid being seen and detected. This allows the user to effectively conceal themselves and blend into an environment with minimal effort, increasing their effectiveness at hiding in mist, water, ice, foliage, behind terrain, and so forth.

    [Venator]
    S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Keen eyes and a wealth of tracking experience allows the user to easily identify and track all manner of targets over extreme distances, regardless of terrain type or method of travel. The practitioner can subconsciouly pick up on signs such as disturbed foliage, footprints, and environmental disturbances, and can accurately determine their age, source, and direction of travel by their condition. The user can accurately pick out individuals from many different traces and determine the number of companions or accomplaces with the target.

    [Quiescence]
    S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has learned to move in total silence, and does not produce any sound when moving through any means. They cannot be heard unless a person listening for them has a specialized hearing technique of equal or higher rank.

    [Reaper]
    S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has trained themselves to become perfectly attuned to all manner of sounds in a wide vicinity of their person, and can focus their hearing to up to 150 metres to identify and track targets. This passive technique allows the practitioner to accurately identify and differentiate people, animals, and all sources of noise within 50 metres of their person, even in the face of loud complicated distractions, noise, or interference. Over 50 metres, the accuracy of the technique suffers slightly and hearing at such an extent requires fewer distractions. Over 100 metres, the user requires silence in their immediate vicinity and can only gauge an approximate direction, distance, and quantity of noise sources, but can still identify the type of creature. The maximum range of this technique is 150 metres. Additionally, the user has learned to interpret vibrations through the ground as a rudimentary tremorsense, and is able to accurately track sources of movement through vibrations within 50 metres of their location.

    [Chemosensory]
    S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has achieved exceptional proficiency in identifying and interpreting different tastes and scents, and can recall previously encountered tastes and scents with remarkable accuracy from a mental catalogue of sources. This allows the user to detect trace amounts of scent even from minute sources, such as from a blade of grass that touched the leg of a fleeing target, from old footprints, or traces of scent on the wind over great distances. Additionally, the user's knowledge of scents and tastes allows them to accurately determine the origin and age of a source, and with multiple sources can effectively determine a direction and speed of travel.

    [Blurred Movement]
    S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Having undertaken intensive training sessions to drill the body into extreme high speed movement, the user has mastered a method of moving and fighting which makes their motions highly confusing to an opponent. This causes the user's movements and attacks to become extremely blurred and impossible to see or follow for anyone without a visual perception technique of equal or higher rank. Even those with such a technique will find it harder to determine the user's attack patterns or where they are aiming to strike.
  • And purchase the following techniques as well:
    Standard Operator TechniquesShow
    [Hunter’s Cryptolect]
    D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
A Head Hunter can convey a hundred meanings without ever opening their mouth. This discipline represents the user’s mastery of the Hunter’s Cryptolect, a secretive and complicated means of communication taught exclusively to members of Kirigakure’s Head Hunter Division. More than just a spoken or written language, the Cryptolect incorporates vocal, somatic, tonal and metered elements which can be used individually or together to convey detailed private messages. This grants practitioners the ability to communicate silently such as through hand signs and body language, cryptically through a scrambled written or spoken cipher, or even by hiding meanings and messages in plain sight by concealing elements of the Cryptolect into seemingly plain, everyday sentences, for example by using tones, accents, or hidden patterns in the meter of a phrase. This communication is innately cryptic and unintuitive, often interspersed with rogue elements to throw off a potential eavesdropper, making it nigh impossible to be realised—let alone properly interpreted—by anyone not trained in its particular use at the Head Hunter Division headquarters.

Type of Organization: Sub-Org of Kirigakure No Sato
Organization Rank: S-Rank
Ryo Coffer: 303/565
Background:

When people think of Kirigakure, what usually comes to mind is their infamous hunting division. Known as hunter-nin throughout the country and beyond, they are a division within the Kirigakure military known primarily for tracking and brutally disposing of rogue shinobi. Over generations, HHD has developed the reputation for utterly eliminating targets and has instilled fear throughout the land especially in those foolish enough to desert the village and or commit crimes against the state. It doesn’t come as a surprise then to find that the shinobi that make up the division are some of the finest Kirigakure has to offer.

The division is organised into multiple branches each with their own area of operation and expertise, although inter-branch co-operation and rivalry is commonplace. Each branch is subdivided into Cells, with operators reassigned depending on the needs of a mission or circumstance. The majority of operators have worked with one another at some point or another, and there exists a closeknit sense of community and competition. Each Cell is assigned a squad leader and typically incorporates up to four additional operators or support staff. Squad leaders often change based on the task at hand, but are always comprised of those that show exceptional leadership potential and a remarkable record of completing tasks handed to them efficiently and effectively.
Objective:

The primary prerogative of the Head Hunter Division is to ensure the safety and security of Kirigakure no Sato, chiefly realised through the careful disposal of threats and control over the flow of knowledge and secrets within and without the village. They are the masked wardens of the village who actively seek, secure, or destroy any and all threats to Kirigakure's supremacy and who keep the general populace in line. Their purview includes acting as the village's premier special forces unit for clandestine operations such as infiltration, reconnaissance, and assassination, as well as the internal secret police agency tasked with preventing the egress or proliferation of village secrets. In recent years, the division has additionally been granted charter to freely explore avenues of military research and development, including biosciences, cryptography and fuuinjutsu, and spiritual containment. The division is organised into numerous branches who each specialise in a different range of tasks, although most operators possess skillsets varied enough to work in numerous branches. The division is currently comprised of the following branches:
The Administration Branch is the mandatory backbone of the Head Hunter Division whose members and activities are often overlooked, despite being the only visible public face of the organisation. This branch is the home of non-combat personnel, supporting staff, recruits, and trainees. They ensure the continued growth and efficiency of the division, maintain operational bases, organise members, communicate with village leadership and source missions and objectives for the various other branches.

Duties:

Division Oversight and Upkeep

Military Intelligence
[* ]Recruitment and Training

Formerly known as the Hunt and Disposal Unit, the Containment Branch comprises some of the most renowned and infamous cells of the Head Hunter Division. Members of this branch are trained as exceptional trackers, assassins, and soldiers of the finest calibre. Operators in this branch are primarily tasked with locating, capturing, and/or eliminating selected high-value targets. Although often deployed to resist external threats, this branch is chiefly concerned with defectors and runaways from Kirigakure, whose destruction ensures that any village secrets contained within their bodies—such as chakra types, techniques, genetics, medicines used, and so forth—will never be discovered by outsiders. The Containment Branch additionally includes experts in defensive chakra applications to maintain village defences for internal security, and spiritual containment for dealing with exotic threats.

Duties:

Hunting and Disposal

Defensive Chakra Applications

Spiritual Containment

The Inquisitorial Branch, formerly known as the Torture and Interrogation Unit, is dedicated to the complete control of information for Kirigakure, in addition to the elimination of corruption, treason, and dissent. Their numbers include some of the most malicious and heartless individuals known to the village—and many more who are not known. They typically operate using clandestine methods with little transparency or oversight, and subject their captives to intense or coercive interrogation and torture. They are the true spies of the village, seeking to retrieve and control information by any means necessary, and are infamous for going above and beyond the norms of other branches of the Head Hunter Division in their crusade for loyalty and service. The few survivors of the Inquisition invariably emerge mutilated or crippled beyond recognition—and with a distict and fervent newfound loyalty to Kirigakure.

Duties:

Torture and Interrogation

Information Retrieval and Control

Internal Security and Population Control

Investigation, Enforcement and Punishment

The newest addition to the Head Hunter Division, the R&D Branch subsumes many aspects of Kirigakure's former Scientific Research Institute and is now the pioneer of weapons research, bionengineering, and scientific endeavours within the village. Its membership includes operators of exceptional intelligence, ambition, and often questionable or absent morality. They seek knowledge and progress above all, and at any cost. The R&D division has numerous duties including weapons research and village engineering projects, chemical and biological applications and weaponisation, drug and medicine research, cryptography and chakra research.
Duties:

Engineering and Weapons Development

Biosciences

Cryptoanalysis and Fuuinjutsu

Archeology and Expeditionary Forces

Operational Bases:
The main building and headquarters of the Head Hunter Division is a secure military bunker concealed in a warren of tunnels beneath the main administration building at the heart of Kirigakure no Sato. The division quite literally operates in the shadows of the village and beneath the notice of the general population. This operational hub includes everything an aspiring operator could require, with a multitude of facilities suitable for every task and need. Operators entering the division HQ have everything they require to vanish from life on the outside if they so choose. Included within the bunker are:

Offices and administration rooms

Residential and recreation facilities

Training arenas and courses, including a small subterranean coliseum

Armouries, workshops, and ranges

Briefing rooms and archives

Confinement holding cells, interrogation, and torture rooms

Laboritories and research areas

Medical facilities and morgue

Communication and transportation hub
The public face of the HHD rests in front of a rather large vault door leading down into the bunker. The door is littered with a multitude of complex fuuinjutsu protecting it from any external threats attempting to infiltrate downward. On the right side of this impressive door is a single desk leading to an array of surface offices containing staff who interact with the rest of the village and its important figures, in addition to a rudimentary recruitment office and printing department.

Behind the door and downward is where the true face of HHD lies. There is a vast network of tunnels that lead to the expansive network of facilities. At the center of the facility is a large room that acts as the command center of the HHD. The command center is a place for all members to gather during times of crisis and or for mission briefing and the like. This room has significant importance as it is usually the place in which mutiny is enacted if ever the commander is in need of replacement. As with the the most prestigious position in the village, Mizukage, the title of Commander is also a contested one with an option provided for those willing to take control forcefully. Indeed a rarity to behold, the act has happened before, however usually only during the most strenuous of times when leadership is required beyond what has already been attempted.

Surrounding the central command chamber is where the the majority of the HHD operates. Protected by a complicated security system the whole thing can be completely flooded if compromised. Brutal interrogations and things of questionable nature are the norm here. Things are not always by the book when you're underneath the village in this facility, but the majority of village can sleep a bit better knowing that these tireless few work day and night to ensure the safety of the village. This is definitely the most secured place within the division and acts as a unifying area in which those in the division can thrive and grow to become perfect weapons in service of Kirigakure no Sato.

Requirements: All members are required to complete a recruitment thread with an active member of the organization. Field operators are generally required to be Chuunin rank or higher due to the intensive nature of the work, however exceptions may occur and many other positions and training programmes are available for less experienced applicants. Genin trainees can be shaped into their desired branch and may accompany senior staff on less lethal assignments.

All members are given and expected to carry a Standard Operator Mask. This is a white full face mask with the symbol of Kirigakure displayed on the forehead which must be worn for all official organisation business. This aids the operator in concealing their identity from foreign agents, thus protecting themselves and the Division from potential threats. The masks include thin eye slits and may be augmented with featuers or decorated with shapes and styles to the wearer's preference, however these should not include anything to reveal the identity of the shinobi who carries it.

The Head Hunter Division is led by the iron hand of the Commander, who holds absolute oversight of the organisation and all its branches. Each branch is led by a dedicated Captain, except for the Administration Branch which is the purview of the Commander or his appointed delegate. The Commander and the three Captains form the senior command structure of the division. Beneath the Captains, each branch consists of elite Squad Leaders and standard Operators who form the bulk of the organisation. Trainees, who are typically younger inexperienced recruits yet to prove their mettle within the organisation, are assigned to the Administration Branch at least until such a time as they display competance or potential in one of the other branches.

HHD Update

Post by Valkier » Tue Aug 09, 2022 5:41 am

Administration BranchShow
The Administration Branch is the mandatory backbone of the Head Hunter Division whose members and activities are often overlooked, despite being the only visible public face of the organisation. This branch is the home of non-combat personnel, supporting staff, recruits, and trainees. They ensure the continued growth and efficiency of the division, maintain operational bases, organise members, communicate with village leadership and source missions and objectives for the various other branches.

Duties:
  • Division Oversight and Upkeep
  • Military Intelligence
  • Recruitment and Training
Containment BranchShow

Duties:
  • Hunting and Disposal
  • Defensive Chakra Applications
  • Spiritual Containment
Inquisitorial BranchShow

Duties:
  • Torture and Interrogation
  • Information Retrieval and Control
  • Internal Security and Population Control
  • Investigation, Enforcement and Punishment
Research and Development BranchShow
The newest addition to the Head Hunter Division, the R&D Branch subsumes many aspects of Kirigakure's former Scientific Research Institute and is now the pioneer of weapons research, bionengineering, and scientific endeavours within the village. Its membership includes operators of exceptional intelligence, ambition, and often questionable or absent morality. They seek knowledge and progress above all, and at any cost. The R&D division has numerous duties including weapons research and village engineering projects, chemical and biological applications and weaponisation, drug and medicine research, cryptography and chakra research.
Duties:
  • Engineering and Weapons Development
  • Biosciences
  • Cryptoanalysis and Fuuinjutsu
  • Archeology and Expeditionary Forces

Operational Bases:
HHD HeadquartersShow
The main building and headquarters of the Head Hunter Division is a secure military bunker concealed in a warren of tunnels beneath the main administration building at the heart of Kirigakure no Sato. The division quite literally operates in the shadows of the village and beneath the notice of the general population. This operational hub includes everything an aspiring operator could require, with a multitude of facilities suitable for every task and need. Operators entering the division HQ have everything they require to vanish from life on the outside if they so choose. Included within the bunker are:
  • Offices and administration rooms
  • Residential and recreation facilities
  • Training arenas and courses, including a small subterranean coliseum
  • Armouries, workshops, and ranges
  • Briefing rooms and archives
  • Confinement holding cells, interrogation, and torture rooms
  • Laboritories and research areas
  • Medical facilities and morgue
  • Communication and transportation hub

Command StructureShow

Head Hunter Division Techniques and Styles
