Personality: True to Sunagakure, Nouai is a shinobi through and through. He enjoys long missions, and spends little time at home given a rather unremarkable relationship with is family and no one else to speak for him. Prepared for most situation, Nouai is a well respected jounin given his proficiency in most tasks shinobi are sent for. A well rounded fight, Nouai is able and willing to handle most situations, whether they are dire or not. Soft spoken, Nouai’s cool demeanor means he rarely gets thrown off or caught off guard by the crazy situations he finds himself in.

Due to this, Nouai is resistant to the process of ‘husking’, allowing him to be possessed by spirits and not run the risk of losing control of his body. Having trained this ability, Nouai has learned that he can forcibly absorb a spirit, creating a bond with it permanently through the use of the spirit’s [Ability Slot]. This bond works similar to a contract, allowing Nouai to summon it and allows for seamless possession. This is a genjutsu technique that causes its target to see a horrifying vision. The ninja will perform some hand seals and make eye contact with the target. Once cast, the world will appear normal to the target until they see the illusion. The illusion is at the discretion of the user. However, they can only make a stationary image, or a visual loop, not a controllable visual illusion. Examples would be a decapitated head on a table, or one of their friends running in circles on fire. This illusions may only last up to 4 posts, or until the user ends the jutsu themselves. As a note, this only effects sight.

The user does a series of hand seals and then creates any sort of noise (most often shouting, clapping their hands, or detonating an explosive), initiating the genjutsu in anyone who hears it. For the next 5 posts, anyone caught in the genjutsu that looks at the user will see and sense two versions of the user, the true one and a duplicate 5m to the left of them. While this is a perfect duplicate, it doesn’t account for the terrain, so if the user is standing on a ledge, the duplicate would simply be floating in the air. This means the user must be very intentional to not give away the secret.

The user does a series of handseals and then points at their target, saying ‘Look at me!”, should the person they are pointing at hear them, they will be caught in the genjutsu. They will feel a sudden force of [Willpower] strength cranking on their neck in an attempt to force them to look, and they will find their peripheral vision fades away to form a tunnel vision between themselves and the target. The force against them very clearly weakens should they follow it, making it easier to give into it rather than fight against it, and once they are looking at the target it will fade completely and will not return. However, once they look at the target, their tunnel vision will affix to the user and they will find their vision becomes obscured and blurry unless the user is in their field of vision for the duration of the following post.

Should anyone who hears it be an elemental body, animus, or any type of alterations that requires a ‘core’, they will be caught in this genjutsu, and filled with a sudden, overwhelming urge to expose their core to the word. Should it be something stored inside their body, they’ll feel the need to open their body up to show it. Should it be something worn (like a necklace) they will often feel the urge to hold it out, or remove it and hold it in hand. This effect lasts for 2 posts, often making it easy to identify who has unnatural or unusual qualities.

Should anyone who hears it be someone who uses alternative forms of chakra that require a mastery stat (sage mode, holy powers, etc. but not standard spirit jinchuuriki) they will be caught in this genjutsu. They will feel an overwhelming sense of being out of place, as if they are somehow ‘less human’, often causing them to doubt the situation they’re in or question themselves. They will feel far less inclined to utilize any powers granted to them by their mastery stat, and will suffer a -3 in mastery for the 3 posts duration of the genjutsu.

If they attempt to recall a jutsu they will feel the same sensation as if a word is on the tip of their tongue, confused and nothing will happen. Lasts 4 posts.

Even for those who are afraid of nothing, this genjutsu conjures up deeply engrained fears, or produces torture scenarios. For the next 6 posts, the victim is forced to live through various different versions of this fear, often filling them with a sense of dread, doom, or hopelessness. Those with lower [Willpower] often find themselves, completely drained of a desire to fight or commit to fighting after witnessing their worst realities manifest.

By all accounts, Nouai was raised in normal conditions, with no specific hardship or trouble to speak of. When he was old enough, he elected to follow his mother’s footsteps and join the academy to become a shinobi. While Nouai was far from the most talented shinobi in the room, he was skilled in genjutsu, and learned quickly to leverage genjutsu to take advantage of his opponents in combat.
Rather quickly after becoming a genin, Nouai’s unique talents would allow for him to become a chuunin, and he was eager at the age of 14 to begin a true shinobi life. Nouai applied for virtually every mission he could, often volunteering to go on long missions that would take several weeks if not months, requiring him to spend time in covert situations. Skilled at managing battlefields and removing the stronger opponents out from play entirely, Nouai found that he enjoyed the life of a shinobi more than anything. His time in the village was often spent simply preparing for his next outing, and by the age of 18 Nouai found himself being promoted to special jounin due to his specialization in long-term covert mission planning. After this, Nouai continued to excel, but soon found that he wanted to expand his horizons and prove his worth in other ways. He began learning how to dominate spirits, and would start utilizing spirits as a way of quickly expanding his own skills and empowering himself. In no time, this new skill provided enough proof that Nouai was worthy of promotion and he would get promoted to jounin at the age of 20.
