The village itself is situated on an artificial island in the middle of a large lake. This lake is, in turn, within a larger artificial island long ago constructed by the Shoudaime Mizukage. This island is the centrepiece of [url=https://www.narutosaigen.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=5528042]Water Country's[/url] Kirigakure province and is located closely offshore to the largest island of the Country. 

Kirigakure is the second youngest of the Great Five Villages, older only than Kumogakure. It is best known for its harsh and spartan culture, known for regularly producing an "average" shinobi of the highest quality compared to the other hidden villages; sacrificing the chance of a large shinobi population to achieve this. It is structured within four castes -- from the venerated noble caste to the disregarded untouchables -- and is ruled by the Mizukage as well as the five principal families.

The island Kirigakure sits on, and the ocean a mile beyond its shores is constantly coated in a thick shroud of mist. The mist makes navigating the shores of the village virtually impossible without experience moving through them. Unlike typical mist jutsu, this permanent mist doesn't restrict any sort of senses except for sight. However, sight is limited to a meter for anyone who has not been in the mist for more than 2 days. Periods longer than a week not within the village will reset this requirement.

As Kiri is a recursive island, its largest "island" has swamp lands on it's interior side. The swamps hold a noxious gas in them that is considered quite potent. The village has since set up a series of fuuinjutsu that store a large amount of this gas. Upon activation, enough gas to cover the entire island (but not the lake or island the actual village is on) can be released. The gas causes -5 Strength and -5 Willpower to anyone in it, and for 5 posts after exiting. It also causes quite extreme nausea and induced vomiting in anyone remaining in it for more than 3 posts.

[spoiler=Kettou: Dueling Style]
[justify]As much of the training in the academy focuses on having students fight each other to get experience, the academy teaches a basic dueling style to virtually all of it’s students. The style is focused on one on one engagements, and is meant to provide the combatant with key skills to manage one-on-one fights and keep themselves with the upper-hand. The style focuses primarily on controlling the space between two combatants, disarming opponents, and nullifying common types of attacks in order to maximize generating openings and how long the user can fight against their opponent. Kettou is intentionally designed to be able to be done empty handed, holding kunai, swords, or two-handed weapons, allowing it to be used in most situations regardless of the users standard fighting style.

Those who have practiced with Kettou have learned how to improve their grip. Most disarm attempts on them are met with less success thanks to their impressive grip strength.

[i]D-rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
In a close quarters duel, balance is everything. When the user is able to dodge a swing or kick, they will then strike at the back of the strike with their full force, accelerating the opponent’s momentum and often sending them off balance.

[i]D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
A basic technique used to close distance with an opponent; the user will strike at the flat of their blade and push it aside. The user is trained to contact a foe’s moving blade while avoiding injury to themselves.

[i]D-rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
Those who have practice this maneuver are able to snatch a projectile out of the air without harming themselves, so long as their Speed is 5 or more greater than the speed of the projectile.

[i]D-rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
When striking with straight jabs, whether with a fist or weapon, the duelist can strike slightly off center from their intended contact point, typically creating more space to dodge in a specific direction. When done properly, this can lead the opponent into openings for more complex and damaging attacks. 

[color=cornflowerblue][b][Kettou: 10 Paces][/b][/color]
[i]C-rank Taijutsu Stance[/i]
A key technique for dueling, the user must have Speed equal to or greater than their opponent to properly utilize, but can use it to some success as low as -5 Speed from their opponent. The user will situate themselves 5m away from the opponent, and then will always match the speed of their opponent to conduct the opposite movement. If the opponent moves forward, the user will move backward, if they rotate to the left, the user will rotate to the right. This means the pair will always be exactly distant from each other, creating ample opportunity to respond to any attacks.

[i]C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
The biggest advantage in a duel is being able to catch opponents off guard with different attack types. When wielding a weapon, this duelist is able to release their weapon and strike at the opponent with their bare hand, before grabbing the weapon out of the air again prior to it falling to the ground. This is especially helpful for creating feints.

[i]C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
Intended to remove weapons from the opponent's arsenal, this technique requires that the opponent is attacking with a weapon in hand. As the opponent attacks, the user will move to the inside of the attack and use their outside arm to make a directed attack at the opponents hand and wrist, striking downward with their full strength. If the attack lands and the users strength is greater than the opponents, they will be disarmed. If the targets strength is higher, they will take a [-3 Speed] for attacks with that hand.

When dueling, grapples provide just as much value as strikes. When going for any sort of open handed strike, the user can elect to quickly convert it into a grab, grabbing onto limbs, clothing, or equipment to pull or push the opponent with [Strength]. Doing so often can throw the opponent off balance or interrupt attacks, creating new openings and more importantly preventing them from getting away from attack.

[i]B-rank Taijutsu Discipline[/i]
During a duel, feints allow the duelist to confuse their opponent, predict counters, and protect themselves. This discipline allows the user to turn virtually any attack into a feint. As long as the strike has not made contact, the user can pull it back. Opponents with less speed, or inadequate perception are left unable to distinguish between feints and genuine attacks.

After a successful usage of the [Disarm] maneuver, the user will quickly take the opponent's now disarmed weapon and use it to strike out at the opponent's body, using the momentum gained and the open space to perform an effective strike with their inside arm.

[i]B-rank Taijutsu Discipline[/i]
A master of close quarters combat, the user is able to exert the full of their strength with even the tiniest of movements, allowing them to replicate the strength of a full swing or strike with just a flick of their wrist. This allows the user to fight in incredibly close quarters or cramped spaces without losing efficiency.

[i]A-rank Taijutsu Stance[/i]
While a somewhat basic dueling stance, this stance provides enormous value to Kettou practitioners. As Kettou is designed to supplement any type of fighter, this stance acts as a seamless intermediary between stances in other disciplines. Masters of this technique can seamlessly switch between stances and maneuvers of various taijutsu styles, without having to take normal prerequisite steps, positions, or preparations. This allows Kettou practitioners to integrate Kettou into virtually any fighting style without suffering any deficits.

[i]A-rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
If a Kettou user is able to overpower his opponent, keeping the opponent in range is the most important thing they can do. When striking at the opponent they will convert the strike into a grab, and grab onto one of the opponents limbs. Once the user has grabbed onto the opponent, they will use all the strength to retain the grab. While this removes the users ability to use that hand, they will then begin unleashing blows at the opponent, overwhelming them with raw strength by relentlessly assaulting the opponent’s head and body, using their tight grip to prevent the opponent from getting away.

[i]S-rank Taijutsu Maneuver[/i]
The peak in dueling ability, this technique is representative of the individuals mastery of dueling. The user will rapidly approach their opponent and then place their foot between the opponents legs, should they land this step it will begin the technique. The user will have a -10 in Endurance but a +10 in Speed. Any movement the opponent attempts, the user will immediately strike at  their shoulders, hips or core with their full strength, neutralizing the movement. In between these strikes, the user will begin to assault the opponent, alternating strikes and grabs, allowing them to damage the opponent while preventing the opponent from fleeing. Each successful strike imparts a -1 Strength to the opponent, up to -10 Strength.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a shuriken of water that can be thrown up to 10 meters. When kai'd, this shuriken explodes with [Control] Strength and covers the immediate area in water. If not consumed, this technique lasts for three posts.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a dense ball of water approximately 6 centimeters in diameter in their hands. Upon lurching forward, they will release the ball towards an opponent up to 10 meters away at [Control] Speed and Strength.

After channeling chakra into their hands the user will fire two jets of water from their hand, essentially hurling and propelling themselves in the opposite direction of their jets as if thrown by [Control] Strength.

[i]C-Rank Ninjutsu[/i]
After performing the correct hand seals the user creates a clone of themselves comprised completely of suiton chakra. This clone has the users stats. It lasts for [Control/5] posts.

*[color=dodgerblue][b]Suiton • Crashing Wave[/b][/color]
[i]C-Rank Ninjutsu[/i]
After performing the correct hand seals the user expels a massive tidal wave of water 10 meters wide and nearly 5 meters tall. This wave travels forward at a [Control] Speed and Strength for up to 25 meters before losing it's steam and failing.

*[color=dodgerblue][b]Suiton • Water Encampment Wall[/b][/color]
[i]B-Rank Ninjutsu[/i]
After performing the correct hand seals the user will expel a large amount of water from their body as a sweeping defense against hostile techniques. The water from the technique forms a cylinder around the user at [Control] Speed, and flows around the user. It is approximately 7 meters around and 2 meters thick, leaving only the top unprotected. The wall has the ability to deflect things with [Control] Strength, but even if something break through, the walls thick nature makes traversing through the water fully troublesome. The wall lasts up to three posts unless dispelled earlier by the user or destroyed.

*[color=dodgerblue][b]Suiton • Water Prison[/b][/color]
[i]B-Rank Ninjutsu[/i]
After performing the correct hand seals the user is able to spew a large ball of water that stands at three meters in diameter. This ball rolls forward at the desired target up to 40 meters away and at [Control] Speed. Should this strike the target, they will become engulfed within the sphere. However, if this manages to strike multiple targets, it will envelop them as well, up to a total of 3 prisoners. One can resist being pulled into the ball if they have a strength higher than [Control]. The trapped targets will spin with the sphere and may become nauseated and dizzy from the disorientation. The technique lasts for a total of 4 posts before bursting.
