Hello my children~

This is just a small little announcement of something we've added to the store. Formerly, abilities could be used to grant access to any concentration, or skill, and it was kind of unclear on what exactly was permitted, and what wasn't, and how they were permitted. Because you only had to roleplay to gain them, it was said that it made more sense to simply make a spirit than it was to make a genma host, which kind of devalued the genma.

Anyways, so what we've done is made a slight change so that these things have a cost to them. Basically, based on how much you're given through your ability will determine the cost. Not everything will have a cost attached to it, and not all abilities will cost points. Clan abilities, for example, will remain free, as will things like body modifications, elemental bodies, etc.

However, if say, you were a Konoha shinobi blessed by a Fire Priestess and given the ability to utilize: Katon, Sankaton, Hiton, Yugeton, Garaton, Kaenton, and Youton, expect to a pay a hefty sum of points for all the restrictions you're defying. Additionally, if you ability has additional companion slots built into it, expect to pay some additional points for those, too.

For now, the cost will be left to the discretion of the moderating team, but over time we'll likely develop a defined way to calculate the cost that will be readily available to the public.

Also, as a small note, the staff is developing weapons and equipment that will be treated with lore significance similar to how the Genma are. The weapons will have a cost attached to them, and there will be a topic requirement to achieve them. They'll come at a discounted price compared to custom made weapons, however.

Joking aside, so does this mean its plausible to get abilities that grant such things and only have to pay for it instead of going on a plot board or would this be in addition to the plot board?

In addition to the plot board or topic, much like how hosts have to do a sealing.

So this only counts if you're bypassing restrictions? Like if I have an ability that gives me access to one custom type of jutsu, it'd be free?

That one costs 220 according to you.


But I contacted a GM and they told me the price for Fuuton, Kuuton, Mist + Hyouton, Ash + Kaenton, Sand + Shouton, Caustic + Denjiton

is 350, and that I agree with.


But then they told me that Fuuton, Hyouton, Kaenton, Shouton, Denjiton

is 230

even though thats 2 elements less than the katon one

it costs 10 more.


I was told to take it up with you personally.

Anything can change drastically on NSRP, especially overnight. You may want to PM one of the people apart of the Lead Moderator group. They always seem to have the answers and will probably have the most up to date information on the topic or at least something more palpable so that you can continue with the development portion of your time here on NSRP! How will this affect people who got spirits and that not before the flip that havent revamped the character with this ability yet?

Yes @ Phineus, this is exclusively talking about ability that allow you to bypass restrictions in place, may they be villages, clans, specializations, prerequisites, etc.

Case by Case basis @ Tsedas, depending on what the spirit does and all that jazz.

I just want some clarification on why a spirit that gives a basic, a super, and 5 fusions costs 220 points
but a spirit that gives a basic and 4 fusions costs 230.

I feel like I'm being screwed over in that sense. The math just isn't there for me.

Am I correct in assuming that the three ability cap still applies, and that if one starts with all three abilities this wouldn't apply to them?

This would still apply to them, and if they attempted to start with these abilities they would still have to pay for it.

So just to be clear, these don't have to be done through Spirits, right? For example (it would be super expensive) but having an ability that gives you access to every basic, extension, and super is possible without having a mastery stat?

Would probably get called out for being unreasonable and not allowed, but possibly, yes.

So could that then mean that the same ability, purchased by two different people or characters, would cost a different amount based on how they're going to use it?

Could it also be understood that not all elements have the same price, but that ability costs are based on "feeling"?

Yes to the first part, the character itself will have an impact on the price.

No not all the elements have the same price, no its not based on feeling. But until we have an exact method for the all the perceived combination of abilities, I'm not going to map out the pricing because its subject to change.

How does one go about purchasing such an ability? Would you have to do a plot board first and then put up the mod with the payment?
