A new rule about custom weapons has been put into place, located under section 8 of the points store.

  • The strength of the user must be at least 2/3rds the strength of the weapon, otherwise the weapon is unusable to the wielder. For example to utilize a crossbow that shoots at 35 strength, the user would need 23 strength.

Yoshin requires medicine conc, if you have Yoshin make the necessary edits to your app in a modification. If jutsus need to be swapped out, that's fine it will not cost you anything.

Fluffy Edit: With some careful consideration, the change has been modified. Instead of the Lower Body concentration, Yoshin will now be Deft Hands, Medicine and Sword concentrations. Those that need to make the appropriate changes may do so. Those that need to change a concentration to fit the style, in this one instance, may do so as well.

Temple of Nirvana from the Genjutsu archives has been edited to feature a requisite of 10 genjutsu to break, rather than the old, non-rule following 12. Please make changes to your characters as necessary cost free unless swapping the jutsu entirely.

The 10 color selector has been fixed. You now have access to all 10 colors. As well as I have changed the Ninpou color from the color selector when creating a post to the appropriate color as seen in the archives.

All members get a one time chance to redo a single character. Once it has been used it cannot be used for any other character, and may only happen once. When used it will be marked your profile for the ease of moderators verifying you have used it.

Not only that, but we have clarified the anti-sensory rules. You are limited to blocking a total of 2 different senses on a single character, however you may have as many jutsu as you want that regard those 2 senses.

They are located at the bottom of the miscellaneous rules.


EDIT: Stats are purchasable now at 5 points per 1 stat. This is reflected in the point store page here.

Hey folks,

Just a small update to add some clarifications here and there:

The Points Store rule page now clarifies that Virtual Points (VP) can only be used to purchase techniques, and cannot be used to buy equipment, abilities, or stats. It has not been specified whether or not they can be used for bidding or payment in special cases such as legendary weapons and genma announcements, as this may be situational and can be defined at the time of said event. This is an old rule that most members are aware of, and stretches back to this announcement in 2014, if not before; for some reason it hasn't been officially recorded until now.

Secondly, the Stat Debuffing and Boosting rules page now includes the following clarification:

  • A character can use boosts to unlock higher tiers of jutsu, providing they have the rank to use said techniques. For example, a chuunin could boost their taijutsu stat from 22->25 to unlock access to A-rank taijutsu for the duration of that boost. They could not, however, unlock S-rank jutsu by reaching 35 in that stat, as chuunin do not have access to S-rank techniques. Boosting using techniques does not unlock additional concentration slots, however this can be possible when using boosts from abilities.
Again, this is an existing ruling that has been present for ability stat holders and genma hosts for some time, but was not properly recorded on this page until now.

The perk Changed Chakra now allows any color of chakra the person wants. Not just shades of blue.

Also spirits may be allowed on start-up, but must have a thorough history of how and why they have it. Otherwise after registration they must do a 2000 lonely or B-rank PB.

Upon review of the associated progression rate, the rewards table for Shinobi Teams in the Organisation rules has been updated to better reflect the intended bonus system. The new reward structure provides bonuses per plot board instead of per thread, providing a solid increase to progression without significantly breaking the growth speed of teamed characters on Saigen.

The new rewards table is as follows:

All members are required to select a primary affinity at least upon character registration. This primary affinity now awards a bonus to the element that takes that slot. This will reduce the minimum word count for jutsu trainings of that affinity to be at 300 instead of the usual 400.

The rules for this can be found in the point store underlined under training and under character creation guide where the old Affinity section used to be.

When earning weapons, members now can earn a discount by doing a PB for said weapon. Members earn this discount by doing a PB, and having their total number of points earned x2 is what their discount earned is. This doesn't prevent a user from earning their rewards from the Pb however, they just earn both the stats and points at a halfed rate. (Discount calculation is done prior to the halving of rewards)

Also in addition to that members can now train Pre-Approved jutsu during the course of Plot Boards.

Hi Internets,

This isn't an update directly related to Saigen - but I thought some of you might find this interesting or useful to know so I'm posting it here anyway:

Do you guys remember when Photobucket thought it'd be a clever move to remove hotlinking, and force people to subscribe to use them as an image host? And how almost all their users sighed, proffered a one-finger salute, and left? Unfortunately they aren't the only site to start thinking that way. Around about the same time that happened, the widely popular Imgur.com (you remember - the one that was literally built to be an image host/content delivery network for Reddit? Yeah, them) updated their ToS to ban the same thing. No one really listened or noticed, apparently, until the last few months where Imgur have begun enforcing their policy - banning accounts, deleting images, and blocking all links to some big sites (such as jcink forums). Read more about that here if you're curious.

Zetaboards/Tapatalk haven't been blocked yet, but it's happening more and more. The Imgur ToS now state:

(...) Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.
What lovely folks, huh?

So if any of you use imgur to host your avatars, character pictures on profiles, etc. etc. - don't be too surprised if they suddenly stop working sometime soon. It's probably only a matter of time before Imgur pick up on Zetaboards/Tapatalk traffic and hit the block button. We'll see.

But here are some alternatives if you're so inclined. All of the below offer unlimited bandwidth for free:
  • Cubeupload: Simple & straightforward. 5MB max upload size, doesn't compress images, and all free.
  • Postimages.org: Free and anonymous users can upload files up to 12 MB and 10kx10k px, with premium options up to 24MB. Does compress images a bit, and offers easy some pre-set resize options if you want. More or less fine for anything you'd want to post on a forum like this.
  • Lensdump.com: Supposedly offers uploads up to 100MB (I haven't tried though), keeps EXIF info, and apparently doesn't compress images at all. Might be good for photos (Flickr might be better? idk) or high res images where you want to keep metadata intact.
  • Kek: 5MB max upload, and has no content filter or ToS opposed to mature stuff. Useful for all your NSFW smut toxic memes. Sickos.
  • Allthepics: 128MB max upload size.
But if you're after anything more specific just have a search around - there's a ton of similar sites nowadays. I'd recommend against Photobucket (for obvious reasons), Tinypic (owned by Photobucket and also blocks hotlinking now) and imageshack which limits bandwidth to paying subscribers.

Fixed some inconsistencies with Samurai Taijutsu Styles. Half of the archives allowed for customs without Taijutsu Specialization while other half required it. No archive Samurai Taijutsu style now requires Taijutsu Specialization to make customs.

Due to a recurring theme and how we've always thought Xm3 meant Length*Width*Height, we've discovered that it does not. So all jutsu from now on need to clearly list out the Length*Width*Height. We advise all members to fix their jutsu that use cubic meters as its way less when actually measured than how we intended it to be.

However just because of this revelation this doesn't mean all your jutsu are instantly smaller. We'll still read and rule that Xm3 is supposed to mean L*W*H, however for the sake of reading clearly ensure you change them at some point. We will be updating the archives soon.

Minor change to Hunting Rules

"If someone takes direct hostile actions against a player, org, or village (Meaning invasion, espionage, sabotage or theft), that target can respond to the threat by initiating a hunt regardless of stat difference, however for every 20 stats beyond the usual hunting guidelines adds an extra info thread requirement."

Hiton passive duration fixed, Hiton passive range added, Hiton split into Hard Light with Light Manip being allowed through an additional concentration.

Valk edit: To clarify, staff have been considering HitonStaff came to the conclusion that Fuuton's passive was too weak, bumped from 1/3 to 1/2 on its passive strength. for some time and were aware that it offered too much in one package. This update:
Slightly tweaked the blindness passive in terms of post count;
Prevents the blinding/burning passives from being applied over extreme distances. The intensity of the passive now scales with distance and has a more appropriate cut-off point;
And removed the innate ability to manipulate light as a non-physical, energy release from natural sources. This is now available as a separate concentration with a limited passive, but which inherits the ability channeling function from the Hiton ability itself.
Which means that the Hiton fusion ability by itself can now only create "hard" light. This form of light is a physical substance, unique to the Hiton element, and behaves like a solid.

Due to the overwhelming requirement of [Upper Body] and [Lower Body] taijutsu concentrations in nearly every taijutsu style, we have elected to remove them from the standard Taijutsu Concentrations. If you have a character with these taijutsu concentrations, you are allowed one free redo of your taijutsu concentrations ONLY

EDIT:

After further deliberation among staff along with member input, UB and LB concentrations have been combined into a new concentration, CQC.
Close Quarters Combat:
The fundamental skill of [Close Quarters Combat] indicates the user's proficiency to efficiently utilize martial arts and advanced combat moves involving the body for example but not limited to, adv kicks, grapples, adv punches, etc.

Erotic RP is allowed. Our conditions for such are as follows: IC characters have to be 18+ years of age for the scene to be more than 'Fade to Black.' Any erotic scenes including characters who are 17 years of age or below, 'Fade to Black' is required. Threads which contain ERP must be tagged [Mature]. Any member below 18 years of age are barred from searching for and posting in [Mature] topics.

Please do not abuse this; abuse will lead to the rule being revoked and erotic scenes requiring a blanket 'Fade to Black'

Hello all!

We have made a couple of clarifications to some rules. The first clarification deals with Channeling. We have added the following clarification:

Channeling is slower than casting hand seals and requires arguably the same amount of focus. Just as your speed is partially reduced when you're performing hand seals, your speed is partially reduced when you're channeling chakra. However, channeling jutsu reduces your speed less than casting hand seals and still allows the user to utilize their body to fight. Ninjutsu completed through the usage of hand seals finishes faster then Ninjutsu completed through channeling (e.g Person A with 35 Ninjutsu starts to hand seal while Person B with 35 Control begins to channel at the same moment. Person A would fire their jutsu off first but would be slower when moving and unable to use their hands or feet to fight while casting unlike Person B who would have better mobility and could utilize their body to engage in taijutsu while channeling).

Next, we have clarified Humanoid Puppets.

Puppets that are remarkably humanoid in appearance start off as B-rank.

This rule can be found on the Companions page, under Puppetry, in the Miscellaneous Rules for Puppetry section.

All D-Rank companions are free, as per the tables listed in the Companions rules page. The misunderstanding comes from a wording issue.

"Every character is granted a single D-Rank companion that can be redeemed at any point in the character's existence at no cost to the character. This slot can be filled with any companion type of any rank."

This sentence is meant to imply that you get a free slot for free and it can come with a free D-Rank companion but I will clarify that you are awarded a single companion slot that can be filled with a free D-Rank companion.

We've made a change to how Attack vs. Defense works. Prior to this change, a 50 Str attack could bust a 50 Str defense and continue on without losing any Strength which makes 50 Str Defenses (and defenses in general) useless at endgame. The change is below:

Weaker techniques have additional strikes that are required to break through a defense, meaning a single hit must surpass a defense's strength in order to destroy it. When offensive and defensive attacks meet, the difference in the strength of the two techniques will determine which 'wins.' If they are equally strong, or if the defensive technique is stronger, then the attack will be fully blocked. If the attacking strength is higher, the offensive jutsu will break the defense and continue on. However, in such a case the strength of the resulting attack will be reduced based on the strength of the defense with the understanding that differences higher up the stat scale are considerably "bigger." However, defensive techniques can also be destroyed by landing consecutive hits which when added together have a total strength equal to 2.5x the defence's strength. This means that a 10 strength wall can be destroyed by a 11 strength fireball, but will require three 10 strength fireballs to destroy it, as 30 is over 25, with the last fireball continuing on with 5 strength.

Minor update to Organizations, in specific the Sub-Orgs section

All organizations created within a village are classified as sub-organizations. However, the village may only support and be supported by 4 of those. The sub-organizations the village supports and is supported by is up to the discretion of the OOC of the village.

Changed how Puppet Bodies work; no longer do they have a weird mechanic where you can apply puppet stats to the body which had no rules written for it. As of now, Puppet Bodies are similar to e-bodies where they are a form of pseudo-immortality. Unlike e-bodies, puppet bodies cannot use elemental jutsu to regenerate but rather have mechanisms.

Partial Puppet Body information has been added as well.

"However, you may rearrange which stats you have marked as Specialized up until they reach a 38 in their stat. Hitting 39 will lock in that stat and it will no longer be able to be rearranged. The cost to rearrange your marked stats is 15 points per switch. "
