Phase 1: Economy, Archives, Shinden, Reincarnation and Organzations

Hi everyone.

So, first set of changes upcoming. They'll get implimented over the course of today, so if you see this announcement and don't see any immediate changes, thats okay! :)

So here we go.
  • Modifications Cap
The rule for modifications is coming back into play, you will be capped at 25 jutsu, or 75 points of jutsu per mod. This includes any types of revamps, redos, etc. When you post mods with several hundred points of jutsu, it takes a lot of time for the mods to read through it all, and they have a tendency to overlook things. Our hope is that by enforcing the cap, things will be able to get checked faster and more accurately, speeding up the process overall. If you currently have a mod up with more than this, you can leave it up, or you can request it be closed and repost it respecting this cap, up to you.
  • Archives & Customs Archives
Over the course of the next couple of weeks, all the archives are going to be updated to be uniform in their formatting. Just to make things look pretty and consistent. Relatively minor.

However, we will also be introducing a new archives subforum "Customs Archives", there will be quite a bit of nesting in the archives, as this is much like the "advanced rules" where they aren't required to be able to get started. The role of the customs archives will be a place for users to submit jutsu that they have had approved already, that they do not mind if other players use. Jutsu from the Custom Archives will be denoted with a ^ symbol much like the current archives are denoted with a * symbol. The purpose of the custom archives will be to allow players to tap into them for inspiration, or when you just need generic type jutsu. We're hoping that by making these available, we'll minimize the creation of 10 different "fire dragon no jutsu" that are all the same with slight modifications. By having these available for everyone to use, it will hopefully have more uniformity and less chances for mods to overlook things. And, as they have already been approved, faster for mods to check.

The payout for contributing to the customs archive is 1 ryo per 5 jutsu, so not a lot, and I would advise waiting until you have 5 to submit them. As I said, these are the "advanced" archives, so any jutsu you're comfortable with other people using can be submitted.
  • Shinden moves to Silver
Pretty self explanatory, the Shinden style currently references Marsh Country, which does not exist. It will be moved to "Silver Country" which does exist (even though it will probably be getting absorbed by Suna).
  • Ninpou and Elemental Channeling
By popular request, the Ninpou Channeling and Elemental Channeling will be combined into a single ninjutsu channeling concentration.
  • Points turn to Ryo
Our points system is being renamed to Ryo, and is transitioning to being an in-character currency. The store and everything associated with it will be updated to reflect this. The major highlights are below
    • As an in-character currency, you are encouraged to use ryo in-character for a variety of purposes to serve your character, such as blackmail, hiring mercenaries, or paying off someone to keep your secrets.
    • Your Ryo does not reflect your characters actual wealth, but their liquidity. So you can still be a character from a rich and noble family, who perhaps simply doesn't carry around a lot of cash, or you can be someone poor who happens to come into the right amount of money whenever they need it. You can use this to serve your story however you see fit.
    • Some price changes will be made, but you will now be able to pay other characters to "teach" you jutsu, possibly saving off some ryo you would otherwise have to spend to buy the jutsu normally.
    • Companion Slots will now cost 50 points times the number of slots you currently have, meaning the first is free. If you currently have multiple companions, you will be blocked from modifying/updating them until the costs are paid for the slots retroactively, but the cost will be 1/2 what it normally would be.
    • Ranking up will cost 20 ryo going forward.
    • Organizations will forgo Resource Points in lieu of Ryo. Characters within an organization will now be able to funnel Ryo into their organization to buy resources and perks associated with Orgs, as well as a central coffer that the organization members can pull from to make purchases (or bribes)
    • There are now Hunting Rules that can be followed that allow a missing ninja and ninja of high renown to impress their world with their high bounties, or hide away by lowering them.
There are a few more changes, and some associated rules with whats about. The store and advanced rules will be updated with this information. The update to Ryo is automatic, next time you post a mod, the mods will simply replace the points field with the ryo field. Points convert to Ryo at a 1:1 rate.
  • Two New Concentrations
Alongside the ability to change ryo in character, two new concentrations have been made, that allow characters to specifically craft unique and powerful weapons and equipment. These concentrations are [Weapons Crafting] which is a taijutsu concentration and [Weapons Enchanting] a ninjutsu concentration. These can also be combined with Tenkujutsu to create spirit based weapons and equipment!
  • Reincarnation
We have also forgone Redo Tokens in exchange for the Reincarnation system. The reincarnation system preserves your progress, but sets you back at genin in the event you die, complete a characters life, or decide to move their story in a new direction. You then get to recoup the value of the lost character after reaching certain landmarks. This will allow members who have been here for a while maintain progress they have made, without feeling like they've been set back by the unfortunate demise of a character.
  • Social Grading
Social Grading has been slightly revamped, and will now have two methods of grading. The first, on a scale of 1 - 10, is at default, and is a general grade that is more based off a general look of the thread, rather than an in depth analysis of the thread. This is to hopefully speed up the grading process, but will not give feedback on your writing. For members who would like feedback, they can opt-in to the second grading scale, which grades on a scale of 1 - 12, and will be more critical and in depth, including feedback from the grader on how to improve! Threads will now pay out 2x the grade.
