Stage 3: Final Changes - Kaguya, Stealth, Clones,

Post by Ace Trainer » Fri May 21, 2021 5:36 pm

Hi all.

Time to get rolling again. These are the final changes. There may be some very small changes here and there going forward, but from here out we won't be doing any major retooling following this. If there are thing you guys have issues with please feel free to bring them up and staff will revisit them for small changes, but all changes going forward will be localized, not systematic!

So here we are.

Clones:

The clone rules are being updated so that all clones split chakra evenly. Meaning if you produce 3 C-rank clones or 3 A-rank clones, they all split their chakra to have 1/3 chakra. A few notes on this:
  • A clone must be A-rank to do information transfer, so if you do a C-rank clone to do reconnaissance and it pops, you will not know what happened
  • Elemental clones can be produced at both the C-rank and A-rank level, however C-rank elemental clones are limited exclusively to using jutsu of their element, cannot use genjutsu, and pop after 1 strike, making them largely singular use type tactics. A-rank element clones are proper clones, able to withstand slightly more damage before getting destroyed, can use any jutsu, and are able to "burst" into their element. The clone technique must be S-rank to be elemental *and* transfer information.
Stealth and Perception

In order to make Stealth characters more viable, and reduce the incidence of perception jutsu being stacked onto characters, a few changes have been made to these interactions.
  • In the case of like ranked Stealth vs like ranked Perception, Perception wins.
    • This means if you have a C-rank silence jutsu, and a C-rank hearing jutsu, the hearing jutsu will win. If you have a B-rank silence jutsu and a C-rank hearing, the hearing will fail.
  • To offset this, if the number of stealth techniques active outnumbers the number of perception techniques, the Stealth wins. Thus, if there is a C-rank Hearing vs a C-rank silence and a C-rank bush hiding technique, the Hearing would fail. Rank still takes precedence, meaning no number of C-rank stealth techniques would out-rank a B-rank perception.
  • The Anti-Sense limit no longer exists for Taijutsu. Meaning while you are still limited to 2 Anti-Sense ninjutsu, you may use taijutsu to hide yourself as much as you'd like.
    • This is because common sense overrides jutsu efficacy. If you are standing in the center of an open parking lot, there is no S-rank taijutsu anti-sight technique that would make you invisible.
  • Perception techniques are now required to be sense specific. This means you cannot have jutsu that involve "total awareness" where the user has heighted smell, hearing, etc. It must specifically state what sense is being used.
  • Finally, using multiple perception techniques incurs a -5 debuff to speed for each additinoal perception technique active, to a maximum of -10.
    • Thus, if you have ONLY heighted sight active, you do not have a debuff.
    • If you have heightened sight AND heightened hearing active, you will have a -5 debuff.
    • If you have heightened sight, heightened smell, heightened hearing, and sensory perception active, you will only have a -10.
    • This limitation makes it so its impractical to go into every battle with all your senses heightened, and characters that are focusing on perception have style built around accounting for this deficit.
Kaguya Clan

The Kaguya Clan is being updated to have this format for it's jutsu
  • Growing Bones -> Taijutsu, this means creating bone armor, or spikes out your body.
  • Manipulating bones connected then disconnected -> Nintaijutsu, this means things like turning your spine into a whip then removing it, or shooting finger bone projectiles
  • Manipulating bones after disconnected -> Ninjutsu, this means things like bone clones, causing your bones to fly back to you, etc.
Multi-Projectile Jutsu

Due to our changes in control, multi-projectile jutsu far outclass standard, to the point where a single projectile jutsu is impractical. As such, multi-projectile jutsu will now cost an additional 50% of chakra per additional projectile. So a multiprojectile jutsu that shoots 2 projectiles would be 1.5x the cost, one that shoots 3 would be 2x, 4 would be 2.5x and so forth. The exception is when multi-projectiles are acting as an Area of Effect technique, such as creating a cloud and then hailing a rain of ice needles from it. While there are multiple projectiles, they are effectively attacking a specific area and thus will be excluded. This will be handled on a case by case basis but one should use the general rule of thumbs that if large projectiles, or an amount one could count simply by looking at it, it fall under this rule.

Space-Time, Heavenly Taijutsu, Kinesis and Overlay

The 4 end-game skills have been officially titled "Pinnacle Skills" and now each have a page in the archives where their rules have changed. Space-Time and Overlay have undergone some minor updates and modifications, while Heavenly and Kinesis were changed more heavily. I'm not going to review here as its easier to simply review the page! :)

Paid Abilities and Abilities in General

Finally, the experiment with Paid Abilities is over. Having allowed it for this much time we've pretty much all come to the consensus it was a bad decision. With the changes in hunting rules, and how to steal abilities and kkg, it makes sense to simply require these things to be hunted. Additionally, there is now a blanket rule that abilities may only contain [2 Concentrations] in them. Abilities that defy this will be grandfathered in a case-by-case basis, but otherwise you cannot have abilities that have Katon, Yugeton, Sankaton, Mokuton and Doton in it. Not all abilities will be able to translate directly to concentrations (especially body mods) so this will be something enforced by staff, however it should be relatively forthright in what is okay and what isn't.

LEt me know if you have any questions, I'll update all these pages proper over the course of the next day or so, thanks.
