So i just watched the inauguration. And it was pretty intense i will place my favorite quote from the speech and you guys may do the same or throw out any thoughts you have on our new President.

Not to throw a downer on the whole 'New President' thing, but, the Figurehead doesn't really matter.

That might be a little too harsh, as I would still like to hear what he has to say about the WTO and Codex Alimentarius.

I don't know about that, considering he won leads me to believe the majority of the populace will put up with the Codex and everything else the Government has in store for them longer, thus making it that bit more difficult to take the Country back into the hands of it's people. So in that sense, he IS good for the polititians.

Obama is nothing more than a time cusion. What he says has no bearing whatsoever on what will happen. If you want to hate something, hate the Government that elected him.

The government dosent control free will. we arent russia. Also the president is NOT a figure head. hes the most powerful leader in the world. Havent you ever heard of the 3 branches?

I completely agree, i think that he isn't going to do this country any good. He will bring about more government institutions, which is exactly what we don't need. I wish Ron Paul would have won..

Also to sparx. it is true that the masses did elect him. But he is a globalist, and his party, and the socialists of the world will be telling him what to do. And he will be obeying. I think that the economical trouble will be getting much worse in the future. I think that the between the democratic congress and president obama, we will be seeing huge government institutions popping up. we will be seeing big government like we have never seen it before. And to support this, are money. Every single American has already had to pay 3 thousand dollars to banks since this congress has been elected, and thousands more from every single American to the automotive industry. In my view, we all need to hold on tight because things might be getting out of hand soon. I just hope that it doesn't get to bad, and nothing to crazy happens ^^

I dont see where he is going to be doing what other countires tell him too. Obama is what this country needs to pull us out fo the shit hole we have been in for 8 years. His olicies will pull us out of this recession and kcik start the economy, and hopefully hell do it without starting a war. In the oast its taken wars to get us out of depressions, luckily we arent there yet. Hes going to save this country from utter failure.

I'm from Scotland, in the UK, Sparx and I'm not saying we aren't in (perhaps not as much, but a relative amount of) shit. Considering America's 'status' it's just broadcast a hell of a lot more than, say, France, or Iceland.

I must have overlooked this post.

First off, technology is pretty advanced. He doesn't need to be sitting right next to someone to hear what they have to say.

Second, the country needs it's people to pull itself out of the 'shit hole', Obama is just there so you'll have someone to blame if (and when) it probably doesn't happen.

Third, nothing good can come from War, you can't save an economy by going to War. Bush did what he did for money. Simple as that. And not the kind of money you give to the people either, I'm talking about the kind of money used to buy second holiday Homes etc. The oil reserves in Alasksa were proof enough of that, although most people already knew it before that information became wide spread.

Fourth, it's taken Third World Countries buying your debt and the exploitation of it's people to stay afloat.

Fifth, he isn't the bloody Jedi Knight, no one man can save the entire Country.

To 7eleven: I have referenced 'Codex Alimentarius' already, or did you not read up on it a little? Research 'Codex Alimentarius' and tell me that isn't reason enough to distrust whoever is put in front of us.

EDIT - I have a feeling this Thread might turn into a conspiracey Thread...

Ammiel how can you say war cannot save an econom? Bushes war definately hurt our economy i wil give you that but frankly that is because he is an idiot. You are from scotland so i dont know how much you know about america during world war 2 but our economy exploded. Americans followed the country into war and we became what we were 8 years ago because of it. And just because say the PM of Britain says hey obama do this does not mean he will do it...in fact i think he will do the opposite and focus on what needs to be done here and say fuck you europe what have you ever done for us anyway.

I'm sorry to tell you Sparx, but America only joined WW2 in the latter stages of Germany's defeat. And as for your 'economy exploding', that was because America sold, and continued to sell, it's sevices to Germany, even after it was declared illegal. I could give you a few examples if you like?

It wouldn't be very diplomatic if the PM told Obama to do anything, he would ask. Probably very politely. What I mean by Obama doing what he is told, is that he will do what he is told to do by the American Government, not by any other Country or World Leader. Although that could still be debated, but for generality's sake, you get the picture.

That isn't to say Britain, or Scotland for that matter, is squeaky clean either. Far from it. We profited immensely from the Opium Wars and whatnot in the past. Our countries have both did things I'm sure some of us at least regret, but hey, past is past. We can only try and learn from it.

Now, I understand what I have just said will no doubt offend people here, and for the most part, I appologise. But I felt it was necessary for the Topic at hand.

War can't save our economy. War is a horrible horrible way to boost the economy. Thats why we're in debt right now. It can be a temporary plus for a short bit, but it ends up coming with a drop too.
