Who Wants to Learn Japanese!?!
Yo, I'm a fourth semester Japanese student and will be living in Japan this upcoming semester for an exchange program. I need to study cause I haven't had a Japanese class since last spring, and as such, I've become horribly rusty. Anyhow, the best way to practice/study is to TEACH and learn in a group.
Who here would be interested in learning Japanese?
I'd basically stream or screen cast over skype or something and do it like a traditional lecture. I just wanna know if people are interested!
Sign-up heeeeree.

"It's so sad!" the reader said to the writer with a frown. "The character in my book just died!" The author turned to her and burst out into tears, "I know!" he said, "So did mine!"

Time works for me, though I'd be disturbed for a few minutes after a couple hours.

Who Wants to Learn Japanese!?!
Alright boys.
http://www.jlpt.jp/e/about/levelsummary.html
Our goal is N5. Before your first class you need to learn Hiragana. During the class we'll go over it and help you with any sore spots. Savvy?
http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/grammar/hiragana
http://japanese-lesson.com/resources/pd ... sheets.pdf
Covers them a bit, but for starters, you will need to actually write them. Print out the worksheets and get at it. The only way you will learn this is to honestly do it again and again. Japanese has no "shortcuts". It's a language which means it needs to be ingrained at a root level in your brain to be of any use.
As an additional practice aid, download the Memrise app on your phone, or visit it on your computer:
http://www.memrise.com/courses/english/ ... q=hiragana
Choose one of the courses, it seems Hiragana 1 & Hiragana 2 have the most learners so they're probably t he most solid. Make sure sound is on. This app is amazing. It's SRS, which is spaced-repetition system. What it does is naturally space out your flash card studying to maximize your time and have it stick the best. This app is great. I cram vocab and other things while on the train, bus, etc.
You will also need to hear how this stuff is actually pronounced and it's best to go based on native pronunciation. Below is yet another resource for that. I recommend pairing this with your writing, and every time you write it, audibly pronounce it outloud mimicking the speaker.
http://japanese.about.com/library/blhiraganaaudio.htm
You'll also want to download Imiwa? for iOS or JED for android. Don't use it yet, but they're solid dictionaries you'll use later.
