[Graded][Mission] I guess they got hungry again...

Yet again the nukenin rolled away from Kyo's attack, showing clearly that a head on attack like that was unlikely to have an effect on him, given the difference in speed between the two. As he rolled he formed the hand seals and when he came to rest his hand moved the ground and seemed to draw another metal staff straight from the ground.

Shiro clearly was agitated by the fact that his earlier attack had no effect, and that he kept having to dodge. The man did not like feeling like he was retreating from anything, and now was looking for a way to be more direct in his attacks.

Another swing, another miss. The two shinobi seemed locked in stalemate, with Kyo to slow to strike the nimble Shiro, and Shiro too pressed to by the aggressive Kyo to fire off anything substantial. Kyo had the stamina and chakra reserves to outlast her opponent, if need be, but the stregnth of the ruffian's gang was yet unknown, and the kunoichi was growing impatient with the dance. She wanted justice. She wanted revenge. Blood for blood. She would have justice, all right; red and hot, running through her fingers.

This time, when Shiro retreated, Kyo did as well, performing a short leap back before forming a few quick seals and plunging her hand into the ground to create another deposit of crystal. Instead of removing it, she continued performing hand seals, intending to pull out her most powerful offensive jutsu, if her foe gave her the time.

~Crystalization
D – Ranked Ninjutsu
This jutsu is the primary foundation for the crystal clan’s abilities. After the proper seals this allows the clan member to turn an amount of stone into pure crystal. This amount can go up to the size of a basket ball.

Crystal Seekers
B – Ranked Ninjutsu
Kyo forms hand seals and gathers crystals to her upper body region. On the final hand seal, the crystals are imbued with chakra, and begin breaking off from her body in roughly circular jagged chunks, about three quarters of a foot in diameter. After the crystal seekers, five in all, have fully separated from her body over the course of five seconds, they levitate around her, bound to her chakra signature. Some time in the next three posts, Kyo can form a single hand seal to send one of the crystal seekers flying off at a speed of seven. Upon impact with a solid object, the seekers explode with the force of two exploding tags. If the seekers travel more than thirty feet, or are not fired off by the end of the third post, they drop harmlessly to the ground. Only a single seeker can be fired per hand seal, but a rapid series of hand seals can result in a veritable barrage of projectiles.

The moment Shiro had the staff in his hands he wasn't going to waste any time at all. His hands formed a few more seals and ran across one end of the staff, which he quickly aimed in a thrust at Kyo's left shoulder with all the strength he could muster, suddenly feeling like he needed to end this quickly.

Judging by the silence from outside it was possible the man had either come alone or with very little support. Had he been foolish enough to think that he could take the girl himself and end it swiftly?

[Graded][Mission] I guess they got hungry again...

Despite the horror, stress, and misery she was undergoing, Kyo had scarcely been more focused before in her life. As the dog that was her opponent pulled metal from the earth, she knelt on the ground, forming hand seals more rapidly than she knew she could. As quickly as all the emotions of the past few minutes had filled her head, they had been emptied. For a few moments, her mind was blank; there was no cruel vagabond, no dead, vacant youth, no weary, mourning master. There was only chakra, and the hand seals that brought it to life. She spoke their names quietly as she performed them: "Bird. Snake. Tiger. Bird. Monkey."

As Shiro fashioned a cruel blade for his cruel steel to bear, Kyo made no sign of acknowledgement, nor did she move her head as he charged her down to finish the job. However, at the last moment, she shifted; not enough to make the blade miss, but enough to cause the blade to strike the crystal shell protecting her right upper arm. Though the defense slowed the blade somewhat, the crystal shattered before it, and it pierced the leathery skin that guarded the flesh of all Kouseki shinobi. It bit into her arm, but all Shiro's efforts got out of her was a spurt of red blood, and a grunt of pain. And a counterattack. For Kyo had finished her sand seals.

She slammed a hand down on the crystal deposit, and the opalescent molecules came to life. The left the ground and crawled up her flesh, gleaming with energy as they swarmed her torso. The rogue ninja, however, would have little time to appreciate that, for Kyo reached to grab his arms with his, and thrust her forehead at his in a brutal headbutt, suddenly screaming like a woman possessed. Whether or not that connected, at this point small spheres had broken off her body and began to over in the air around Kyo. Still screaming (if anything, with greater intensity than before) she performed five lightning fast hand seals, sending an explosive barrage hurtling towards Shiro at point blank range.

To say that Shiro had been completely unprepared for what transpired would have been an understatement. The explosions tossed him back, slamming him into the wall as his bladed staff fell to the ground with a clatter and for a moment after, everything was silent. Shiro was sitting on the floor against the wall, blood splatter all over the floor and wall around him as his head rest forward on his chest.

It was several moments before the man coughed, wheezing as he tried to catch his breath and even lifted his head to try and look at Kyo. His eyes seemed barely there, his body seemed unwilling to move and in reality much of his body could not move. His final fate would be up to Kyo.

Hibiki looked on in silence before he moved to the side of his now dead assistant. He knelt beside the boy and reached out to close the boy's eyes before taking a necklace from around his neck and looking at it in silence as he left the boy's killer to Kyo.

Every single projectile struck Shiro at violent, point blank range; bones cracked, flesh squelched, and blood sprayed. Then, it was over. The broken, half-dead remnant of the beast sprawled grotesquely against the wall; the cruelty, the mocking, the arrogance, vanished in an instant. Everything was still and silent, save for the pitiful wheezing of the broken mess before her, and the ragged, deep breathing of the kunoichi herself, which she hadn't noticed until now. Her throat hurt from the yelling, and she rubbed it absently, coloring the the pale flesh with a bit of red.

The day was won, and yet - Kyo turned to lock at Hibiki and Osamu, then hurriedly turned away, eyes stinging. There was yet work to be done. She stowed the mace back at its proper place at her hip, then strode over to the rogue ninja's living remains. Reaching down, she grabbed one of his dirty, bloody legs by the calf, then turned to go. Maintaining her hold on him, she walked to the door, causing the man to flip over and slide face down along the floor of the store. The door was held open by one of the corpses downed by Hibiki, and she removed it with a savage kick that sent it tumbling out into the street. Kyo herself followed, dragging the still-living Shiro behind.

They made quite a scene as they wended their way through the slowly darkening streets of Daiura. What traffic left on the streets would hopefully have the sense to give the bloody warrior maiden a wide berth, lest they be dealt with. Assuming no significant interruptions, she would soon arrive at the restraunt she had visited earlier with Osamu, shinobi meatbag still in tow. She kicked the door open with a terrible crash, though the sight that would follow would surely be more terrible still. Ignoring the reactions her entrance would likely cause, she made her way to an empty table near the middle of the restaurant, then bent down to grab a handful of Shiro's shirt above his chest. With a mighty heave, she swung the body onto the table, causing him to land face up with another loud crash. Then, with no delay or ceremony, she withdrew the mace from her belt, lifted it above her head, and brought it down with all her power in a two handed strike aimed squarely at Shiro's exposed head.

Needless to say any who came near the two as Kyo drug the man along, quite quickly scampered away. No one wanted to be in the way of the shinobi who was clearly dragging behind her the man who had terrorized their town. Would she be the same? Clearly that thought was the same that ran through their minds as they ran.

Yet as Kyo, quite possibly foolishly, strode into that restaurant and threw the man on the table to finish the job, not once did he speak up in protest. He didn't even make a sound as she demolished his head with a single swing. As she had drug him inside, the occupants of the place began to run. Everyone except for the owners, who cowered under a table, and Shiro's own men who stood in shock staring at the scene before them.

As that final blow echoed through the room, each member of the group slowly stood and stared at Kyo, looking at her from head to toe. But they weren't looking at her like the hungry wolves of before, but like cowering dogs whose fear would not allow their feet to move.

Not one made a move towards her, except for one man.

A man with short black hair approached her slowly. Some kind of fear was in his eyes but he kept it out of his movements as he paused a few feet away from the girl. "What is it you want?" he asked her, not bothering to introduce himself or explain why he would ask such a question instead of just attacking her.

She was being rash and foolish. Shizuka had oft berated her impulsiveness, how she would rush into situations without proper preparation or forethought, acting on emotion, namely anger, instead of logic and wisdom. But Kyo was not logical, and had certainly never been called wise. It had not been the power of her brain nor the quickness of her wit that had availed her all those years of training and tedium, but the fire in her belly, the grit in her gut, the relentless pounding of her heart.

Some twisted sense of justice had led to commit this bloody act in this smoke-choked den of darkness, and she wasn't about to start a civil discussion just because her enemies seemed willing. The black haired man addressed her shortly, and she returned him a wide eyed stare of uncompromising intensity; no predator ever watched its prey so intensely. There she stood, off-white flesh dusty and bespattered with bodily fluids, clothing ragged and soiled, hand tightly clenched around the twice crimson weapon still buried in the dismal remnants of Shiro's head. With a little heave and a sickening noise, she yanked the mace free and held it up to her face for inspection. Then, in front of those bandits either too brave or too craven to flee, she gave the weapon's head a nice, long lick. "Blood for blood." She said. She rested the weapon over one shoulder, waiting for the man's response.

The man turned his head to take a good look at the former leader, or at least what was left of him. Slowly, a smirk crossed the man's face as he turned his head to look at Kyo again. "And it appears you have it." he told her. "We won't bother the blacksmith anymore." he said, turning his attention back to the crew as he walked over.

It seemed that Kyo had been successful in not only killing Shiro, but effectively replacing him with a leader and intimidating the group to at least leave Hibiki alone. Perhaps they were even going to change their ways entirely.

Either way, the fight was over.

[Graded][Mission] I guess they got hungry again...

A moment ago, Kyo had held the power. She had killed Shiro, emptied one of the roughest joints in the city, and sent a gang of hardened ruffians cowering. So why did she feel so helpless now?

She had expected the gang to splinter apart, to run in terror, to beg for mercy. Now her naivete was becoming evident; one cockroach had been squashed, and another jumped up to take its place in the sun. For a moment, she considered finishing what she had started, starting by putting a kunai through this smirking stranger's windpipe and finishing by bashing the heads of every man left in the restaurant until there remained only cowards and cripples left to tell of the terrible night the she-devil decimated the toughest gang in Daiura. But she couldn't. Her muscles, so tensed and ready a moment ago, suddenly felt numb and weak. A bucket of sand put out in the fire in her belly, and the coppery taste of blood became nauseating on her tongue. Fear overtook her, and she knew that if she fought then, she would die. I have to get out. I HAVE TO GET OUT.

Without another word, she turned and hurried for the exit, the ruined door allowing her an easy escape. She managed to get a street or two before she was overcome by nausea, and she emptied her stomach in a dingy alley. She stayed there for over a quarter of an hour, hands on knees, breathing hard as she struggled and failed to fend off further waves of nausea. Once there was nothing more for her to lose, she wiped her mouth and staggered out of the alley. Night had come, and the disturbance of not half an hour prior had already settled down. Kyo moved quickly, though clumsily, through the streets, determined not to spend another night in the city, nor a minute of time more than was necessary. She took an alternate route, so as to not even pass Hibiki's shop; she was not needed there.

Soon, though not soon enough for her tastes, she emerged from the walls of Daiura, near breathless. She did not stop, however, but rather struck out into the desert, back to Suna. She had walked for over half an hour when she came upon a tiny oasis, little more than a puddle, three sad looking palm trees, and a little protrusion of rock. She stumbled down into the minor concavity that held the oasis, and collapsed. Lying there, sprawled facedown on the earth, she could hold back the tears no longer. There, Kyo Kouseki, kunoichi Chuunin of the Hidden Sand, sobbed into the sand, wetting the earth with bitter salt. She cried for Osamu, brave young boy, lying dead on the floor, staring up with dead eyes, bathing in his own blood. She cried for Hibiki, old, crippled, and now alone and grieving. She cried for herself, for the stabbing that was only now beginning to truly hurt. She even (or especially) cried for Shiro, whose helpless body she had reduced to pulp, and whose blood and brains she had tasted on her mace. She retched, but lost nothing more, as there was nothing to lose.

After a time, the tears slowed, and she sat up, quietly weeping instead of sobbing. Soon, she stopped making noise altogether, and simply sat there, staring at the mace she held in her two hands.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEGAAAYAAAAAAAAAA!" Fury contorted her face, and she struck the oasis's rock with her mace and all her strength. The boulder cracked, then shattered, some small fragments exploding out to strike her flesh and armor, which she hadn't bothered to remove. She barely noticed that, though, her attention being drawn by the sharp crack from the weapon in her hands. She stared at it dumbly, and saw two cracks, one perfectly bisecting the handle, the other directly below the mace head. A light tap to the ruined remnant of the rock finished the job, and the once proud weapon split cleanly into three. The two pieces of the handle remained, one in each hand, but the head of the mace fell with a soft thud into the dirt. She knelt to pick it up, but recoiled as if bitten once she felt the sticky gore that coated it. Shivers wracked her body, and she suddenly felt so weary that she could scarce remained standing. Even so, driven by a sudden terror of the place, she fled the oasis in a stumbling, tripping gait, until she collapsed a second time. Mumbling and whimpering, she drifted off into a troubled, restless sleep, in which Osamu and Shiro were killed a hundred times, though by her hand or another's she could never quite tell.
