When he came to, it was obvious that time had passed, though it was difficult (without sensory help) to determine how much. The drip of luke-warm water splashed his face and echoed throughout the dark structure he found himself in. The floor was rock, and it was too dark to be anything but the bowels of a cave. His head did not hurt, nor did he feel groggy at all: in fact it was as if his first experience waking was a dream, and this was his restful rejoining to the world.
In either case, the darkness gave him no clues. As he thought that, a small flicker of light bloomed and traveled down the twisted caverns toward him- illuminated the jagged cave's twists and turns. The flickering was faint at first, and appeared to grow in intensity and steadiness. A faint scratching could be heard as well.. though the acoustics in the cave system hid little from any pair of perceptive ears. The sound, unlike the light filled the room and felt like it was coming from everywhere. It was time to figure out what the hell was going on.
